Update from owner:   Dear Jayne, Daisy and I are just about back to normal. As you know she was ravenous and very tired when she arrived back home. The following day or two she was a bit disorientated, what with all the fuss being made over her and probable memories of her ordeal. On Thursday 22nd, I took her for a walk in the other direction, to the huge orchards about a mile to the south east of here, where there would be few people. Even so, all the people we did pass voiced a special greeting; a few car drivers waved, gave the thumbs up or opened a window and vented happy feelings. The previous day, the loss of  Daisy had been front page headline news in the Canterbury Times but when I bought the weekly Kentish Gazette, her recovery was a leading feature, also with a front page headline. This was followed by the evening Meridian News; thus all the populace of Kent knew she was back. Friday, therefore, when I needed to do my shopping, we were approached by practically everyone we passed and at one point, so many crowded around to stroke or kiss Daisy that we blocked the High Street! I was bombarded with questions and found it difficult to hear, due to my deafness and to reply because I was quite overcome by the immense depth of love from hundreds of people. So I went in the other direction for a few days. The alternative however, was to go out before sunrise, which we did over the weekend when the orchards were locked. At 6.00am, I was putting up posters all over the town centre. These thanked everyone and mentioned the special help which ?Doglost? , ?The Great Dane Owners? Forum?, ?Kent Police?, ?my son and daughter?, Bryony and Nicola had given. They were there most of the following week and one or two are still around.. Dear 'Doglost' Secretary,             I would be most grateful if you would kindly print off this e mail (including Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Goes to show how the help of everyone together can lead to a happy ending.
I dont think anyone would dare try that again.
So pleased.
Does anyone know why the scumbags did it yet ?? has it been disclosed ? Were they just keeping Daisy for themselves, or going to sell her on ??  Sorry for asking but just worrying the reasoning behind it all .

Dad wishes me to thank each and every one involved for the tremendous effort made in reuniting him with his beloved Daisy.   He is very touched by the response.   He would also like to thank all those who sent good wishes and those who even made offers of puppies.   Everything together helped him get through the very hard time that he had.   Just knowing that people were there giving him support was a great consolation.   Thank you thank you thank you.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Typical, waiting all afternoon to hear the outcome, cant believe the media are not intrested in this.
Do we know if the police are searching the Gypsie sights?..i know of a few around there, where they are hidden on land down country lanes.
Is there any youth clubs round Canterbury and surrounding areas have they been contacted and postered ??
If Daisy is still with this girl, some youth somewhere most know something and would surely be grateful for a reward,  especially with christmas time coming up, someone somewhere must report her if they knew her whereabouts.
The pubs and nightclubs are a good idea..also the little villages around Broadstairs/margate and ramsgate...
There is so many explantions to why this girl took her...but if shes still holding on to daisy and there has been no ransom call, what is she playing at ?
Daisy has got to be postered everywhere down there now, so surely if it was someone whos got her with brains daisy would be out the area by now..
From experience of my dog taken, i know some of these thieves dont have a brain cell to rub together..so they will slip up if thats the case. Sorry i am rambling now, but it makes my blood boil.

Firstly just to let you know that I will be there tomorrow (hubby will look after the shop for me!!). Secondly and more importantly, I would so much like to thank each and every one of you personally for all the help you have been giving but there are too many to do so both from this web site and others.   My e-mail box is jammed with good wishes and people telling me what they have done to help.   It is absolutely overwhelming.  My father is feeling heartened by all this and is even daring to hope. I so hope that I can have some good news for you soon so that you will realise that all this hard work is rewarded with a positive result. Thank you; thank you; thank you.  Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Great news the BBC are now getting involvedshould get her on Watchdog, Crimewatch...
also Yes The Paul O Grady show, he is a massive dog lover as we all know and has a farm in Kent.
Also try Crimestoppers on ITVLondon tonight show, anything to get Daisy as known as possible..
I have told my drivers at work who deliever in Dover and Canterbury to keep their eyes peeled..
I am sure the scum who have her have moved out of area, so we need to get her plastered everywhere we can..
What a great job you are all doing, i know only too well what the owner and his family are going through,as have been in this situation, and its just that bit more knowing there is decent kind and caring people who help out for your own dog.
it upsets me how this poor dog is right now, and distaught and sickened the family are...
Lets get her home where she belongs, away from the scumbags.

Just has reply from Kate at the Cathedral, see below. Oh what a beautiful dog!  Yes we will place a poster in our Welcome Centre notice board located in the grounds.  I have also asked whether the Friends of Canterbury Cathedral can place one in their notice board just by the main Cathedral gate.  I do hope the gentleman does manage to find him.  Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

CJ I live near Tilmanstone and there is a harlequin dane that gets down the bootfair so it might not be Daisy that was spotted - I have given posters to local taxi drivers, bus drivers and put them in the Tescos petrol station at Whitfield, the post office at Eythorne - I will try and do some more later on. I have forwarded on link to a friend at K&C hospital and she will forward on - also to a friend at the uni there - I have also printed off a further 200 posters to go roundLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

There is obvioulsy a reason this girl took Daisy and my bet would be for money to feed some sort of habit.  Perhaps its worth dropping posters into all pubs/clubs etc as sooner or later she will need to sell Daisy to raise money.  Probably might keep her for a bit until publicity dies down.  Try local housing estates too, door to door postering and talking to local youths hanging around the town, someone will know something.  Sorry im not closer to assist as I would love to speak to this girl myself!!  Good luckLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Have just spoken to Daisy's owner. There have been no sightings of her since Friday. He has posters up all over the town but not response as yet. I have given him telephone numbers for Meridan Tonight and Radio Kent. He has already tried the BBC but they don' want to know. Has anyone any other ideas as the poor man is desperate to get his sole companion back.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi I?m sorry to hear your dog is missing.
Firstly contact dog wardens, vets and local rescue centres?local council stray dogs holding kennel give them all a detailed description of your dog with any distinguishing marks/scars.., If you can go down there each day to check for your dog that is the best thing as they only have to hold a dog for 7 days before it can legally be rehomed or in some cases destroyed. It is also worth contacting the local police as if someone has found your dog they may well have contacted them.
email admin@doglost.co.uk with a photo please if you haven?t already.
You can only print posters when you are signed in.
Get postering now?..as quickly and as many as you can physically manage. make sure you offer a reward on the posters.
POSTER POSTER POSTER!!!?I cannot emphasize how important this is, from the posters you will get sightings and lots of extra pairs of eyes looking out for your dog.
Poster bus stops, train stations, supermarket/retail park car parks, pet shops petrol stations, lay by snack vans, service stations, bins, poo bins, shopping centres, take away outlets, pubs, lamposts, caf?s, leisure centre?s,??.basically anywhere people go you need to poster like mad so nobody misses them? ask in as many places as you can if they will display a poster for you.
Tell postman and binmen and give them a poster so they have your phone no handy? infact tell every single person you meet while searching as the more people know the much better chance of getting your dog back quickly.
Contact the local newspaper and radio stations? take out an advert with a photo in the papers pets section lost and found and make sure you offer a reward!.
If you believe your dog has been stolen then it is very important you contact the police for a crime reference number?. And the postering publicity should have the aim of not only getting your dog home but making it too hot to handle. i am absolutely disgusted that someone could take your dog from you in this way !! Good luck xx
