- Hello Gwynnie and Mangos mum. Please try to get your story in the Midhurst and Petworth Observer tele; 0124352532 (this is how Meg the Lab was returned to her owners found around 200 hundred miles from home) I am sure they would run this in the paper for you after everything you have endured. I know the poster has been taken down at the Midhurst vets as I had to say goodbye to my beloved friend of 16yrs two weeks ago and I am devastated (why I have not been on DL a while) So please could I have some combined posters done for me to print off and I will do my best to distribute them in the Petworth area and see what shops will display them and also in the Midhurst area. - Well there is still nothing forthcoming from the owners I see. This is just to say I have been in Petworth and surrounding areas all over the Christmas period some days up untill midnight as well and I have seen and heard nothing. I really do think these two must be back home I truly hope they are. So unless there are anymore posts on here from anyone I will not be doing anything else as I have no idea if I have been on a wild goose chase (so to speak) all the hours I have now spent out that way looking. I really hope and pray you two darlings are safe and well.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- Jan S I am inclinded to agree with you I feel sure that if they were still missing the owners would of put something in the local paper and many many more posters would be out there, as nothing has been in the paper and I have had no response whatsoever from the owners I too think they must be home. Lets hope so. Wherever you are babies I truly hope you are safe xxxxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- mistynsashasmum, I'll be in Petworth myself this week but don't feel inclined to hand out or put up posters as we can make no contact and owners don't post on site. Surely we must assume these two are found. I can't believe we wouldn't hear something from them or see more posters around the place if the dogs were still missing.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- Please owners speak to me on here as I have tried ringing you to no avail as yet. Are your dogs still missing? I see they are not as yet in the Midhurst and Petworth Observer I over Petworth way tomorrow if we are not snowed in and the roads are ok I will call in the Farms I pass just in case a farmer has taken them in you never know. Please keep your mobile on to answer if and when possible just in case. Keep warm and safe babies wherever you are xxxxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- O/K o/k so nothing forthcoming as yet. Would anyone out there know if the Midhurst and Petworth Observer are running an article in the paper this week? I am in Petworth on Friday so off my own back I will place the poster in the Fish and Chip shop if this is o/k. As the owners are not posting on site it is a difficult to know what they are expecting us to do. It has been stated that farmers heve been informed as there is Hoes Farm and Frog Farm ect around that area do they mean these farmers have been contacted does anyone know? Only asking because two other dogs that ran off around here were actually shut in a barn bya farmer who then waited for the owners to contact him as he never let anyone know he had them as these two dogs have not been sighted I was wondering if this is what might have happened to these two as who knows how anyone else might think. (We must remember that the Observer got Meg the Lab home who ended up nearly 200 hundred miles from home) Come on girls be seen then we know were to look so odd you have not been spotted as yet. Stay safe and try to keep warm it is freezing out there you are worrying me.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- I called the local dogwatch to here (rotherfield peppard road) to see if any one is missing two spaniels in our area, hes not aware of two(one is missing though) hes not aware of sightings,Ive travelled the road every day since the 8th and not seen anything, have spread the word and nobody knows of two dogs missing in our area. so without any other positive sightings it could be these two girls??,I will keep my eyes peeled and will keep asking people.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- Will these two be in next weeks Observer? as I have scanned this weeks and there is nothing about them in there. What if anything is happening any sightings as yet? It is so cold out there does anyone know anything? Are the owners going to post? Seems like we are looking in the dark really. I can keep popping over Petwoth way but if the feeling is they have moved on it seems pointless. Can anyone out there give any pointers as what we should do next please? We have to these girls they are out there somewhere. I will keep looking out and putting the word around about you. I feel very frustrated about these girls Stay safe babies untill you get home xxxxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- The street market is out in Petworth today which always means lots more people around, marvellous time to get out with leaflets and posters. Give them to stallholders as well as many are farmers from round about. As said before do try and get poster in fish shop, chinese takeaway and in Austens the hardware/pet shop.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- I have been out and around that area today hardly any posters about I actually only saw one in the widow of the shop as you enter the car park thought there might of been one in the Petworth Fish & Chip shop I know it would cost 50p a week but would be well worth it as so many people visit there. I am not sure now where we should be looking if these two are on move. Do the owners have any update on these two please? I have alerted all my family over that way. Would maybe of been a good idea to have put a piece in the Midhurst and Petworth Observer this week (it worked to Meg the lab back home) If anyone is out around Petwoth tomorrow Santa is in his Grotto at 2o/c in Hampers Green might be an idea to hand out flyers I work commitments or I would be there. Come home safely you two Stay Safe Babies until you are FoundxxxxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- Spoken in depth to owners again tonight. Everyone in Petworth Park, gamekeepers, workers, gardeners even owner has been informed on this. Its very odd that we have not had one call on either of them. Not totally ruled out the sightings of 2 running loose with collar on,but DW for that area has not found them either. Article in Midhnhurst and Petworth observer so bumping up. So hope the article bring calls or nformation. Its exremely cold outside we need to find these dogs asap.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- Yes, they were lost in Petworth park and were last seen running by the monument into the pheasant copse. Dog wardens have all been notified.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- I live in Midhurst and the earlier comments made by Jan s are quite right did these girls go missing in Petworth Park? it all seems a little muddled now as they would if gone missing in the Park have quite a battle to find their way out as said it is mostly walled off because of the deer in there. I found out about these two missing after going down my vets with one of my cats and saw their missing poster in there. Has the Dog Warden been informed of these two do we know? as yes it would be the Chichester Dog Warden we still have two wardens for this area. I am around the Petworth area on Friday so will keep an eye open out for them anyway.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- The two that have been sighted were near Peppard Road, the B481 which is just south of sSonning common and north of Caversham, so more reading area than kent. Believe alert came via kent police to doglost.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- I beleive that this area is covered by West Sussex CC. If so the dog warden that covers Chichester may have repsonsiblities for Petworth. Petworth House and Park belongs to the National Trust. Petworth is a very busy small town with small shops and a lot of through traffic. It is one of the main routes to the A3 into London.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- Where do the owners of these two lovely girls live ? Kent seems a long way from Petworth unless that is their home direction and they are instinctively heading for somewhere they know or of course if someone has taken them and then they've run away. Petworth Park has a high wall all round it and as far as I know there are not that many entrances and they have horrendous cattle grids that are even scarey to go over in the car. I know the wall is broken in a few places but not many considering the huge area it covers, there is a tunnel but that comes out on to a very busy road and there is a gate on it. I think it feasible they could still be in there and you do need to make sure that everyone that walks there knows about them. Did they get lost chasing after deer ? I'm sure they could manage to catch a duck or two there are lots in there on the lakes.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

She will send out a mass email to loads of Welshie owners all over the country. Hope you soon be re-united, can't imagine what you're going through. - I had a phone call from an officer at kent police to inform of a sighting of 2 spaniel dogs running loose looking scared- unable to catch. they were on the B481 Peppard road the Rotherfield end ( this is a very long road) I have informed owners in case these 2 . Dogs were together and wearing collars. Owner will also ring dogwarden for this area ( south oxfordshie district council) to ask they keep a look out or check they have not been picked up. - Are these two still missing ? I walked in Petworth Park for a couple of hours yesterday, spoke to other dog walkers about these girls and gave out some posters so they would have the number to hand if they saw them. It is such a vast area, I'd imagine they could survive on ducks and rabbits if they are still wandering. Saw the poster in the park car park. Austens, the hardware/pet shop in the Town square has nice big windows and would be a very good place for one . My son lives just along from the car park and has put a poster outside his house. Do let us know if there has been any news.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- Have you circulated all the local schools, in case they have been 'adopted' by a family, it's amazing how some people assume a 'found dog' is an unwanted dog. Good luck .Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- I am some way away but my son lives in Petworth so I know the area you are talking about, that is a very big park, even so it seems incredible that they haven't been seen. Have you got anything in local papers ? and there is also 'Petworth Pages' an on line local news site that you could put them on. Will be going down there tomorrow and walking in the park with my two lady dogs. If could send me the poster, I'll take some with me......thanks. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- I'm so sorry that you have had no word about your dogs. I was in Petworth earlier this week and saw one of your posters near the car park. As they are switching on the Christmas lights tomorrow with a bit of a 'do' in the town Square can you get loads of posters around and maybe even hand out some flyers ? Hope you will get some good news very soon.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- Julia - make sure you keep going back to where you last saw them - so many dogs return to the place they last saw their owner. Make sure you leave an item of clothing with your scent on there as well, which will hopefully keep them in the area. Good luck xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
