Happy that Lucy is now back home safe. Surely if this had been reported as a crime the dog warden could have been a bit more lenient and waived the fee given the circumstances? Or am I being a bit too optimistic! Would it not be worth a letter explaining the situation? MargaretLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Welcome home Lucy, so pleased you are back with your owner, but very sorry this pensioner had to go through this and it has cost him alot of money, so much for the season of goodwill !  Have a great christmas together Lucy & owner. xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I went to visit Mr Lambert this afternoon. Lucy is now home with him. This incident appears to be a malicious action against the  owner to cause him financial hardship. Lucy has taken from his garden then it appears kept in a house and the  dog warden contacted. It has cost the pensioner some ?90 to get her back and has been extremely stressful for him particularly since Lucy was ill. He noticed her missing within minutes and followed those responsible up the  alley near  his property but when he  reached the next road there was no sign of the  offenders or his dog. He  continued searching then returned home to ring Police, Dog Warden etc as I previously stated. The local neighbourhood police beat  team would normally contact me if they were on duty in cases like this but  they were not unfortunately and the  call was taken by area  police control who were not aware of local arrangements in place to help reunite lost dogs in this village or deal with strays. Lucy was not a rescue dog. Mr Lambert has asked me to thank everyone who has tried to help on this occassion. Mr Lambert had been advised that it was essential the  chip details were changed. A padlock is now being fitted to his front gate plus other anti intruder measures.    Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Is Lucy only recently rehomed.  Common for new rscues to have kennel cough.  Important microchip people are notified she is missing. The information thats latest on the chip will get any calls if she is found.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I have  posted this record for the retired owner Mr  Lambert  who does not know how to use a computer. ( I am the  village  Neighbourhood Watch Coordinator). This girl is currently under treatment by the  vet  for  kennel cough and needs to be  given tablets twice a day. He has only  had her a short while. She is still microchipped to the previous owner who has not  yet sent through the  paperwork. He has been contacted to let him know the  situation. He  has no photos of her which can be  uploaded but  I have met this bitch and she is a typical Golden Retriever. The local police, her vet and dog warden have  been informed by the owner.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
