- What a relief, I was so worried about this oldie, I have a 13 year old who will also go her own way even on walks she knows very well she will get confused and head off in a completely different direction. So glad to see you out of this horrid weather Shep, I bet his owners (and Sable) will sleep more soundly tonight xxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- I'm so glad he's been found. I've been thinking about him a lot. As I said earlier, I had one dog who got very confused about where she was going, once she got old. We labelled it doggie dementia (tho' I wouldn't be so rude as to label Shep the same). But I would say it sounds the same. We'd be strolling along and she would suddenly take off on a mission of her own. She took some catching too - quite fast, despite old age. But I was convinced she didn't know what she was doing. All I'd say, and I'm no expert, is to keep Shep very close, so he can be grabbed if he has another 'senior' moment. Meanwhile, have a very happy Christmas.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- SHEP HAS BEEN FOUND !! He was not found at the railway station though. Owners and relatives were there very quickly but he had gone. Great news though that a local farmer saw him heading back the way to East Kilbride and grabbed him, as he had seen him the day before also and had thought that he was lost. He then called the owner, as Shep had details on his tag and is on his way home now in his dad's car. How wonderful. I have been so worried about this old boy. I think he must be getting a bit confused in his old age as he has been wandering for miles not knowing where he is. Well he is 16 years old after all. Welcome home gorgeous wee man. xx I will sleep well tonight knowing he is safe and warm and so will Shep's owners. Fantastic news.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- Shep has been seen beside the railway station at Blantyre. Owner has just gone out now to see if she can find him. This is making me wonder if he really was up at East Kilbride. Maybe he has a double. Hope this is him and he can be found and come home now.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- Thanks Daisymay66. He ran off for some very strange reason when about to get into the car with his owners. He loves going in the car too, so he may have seen or smelt something. He is along way from home for an old dog and I do not think he has got to where he is all by himself. Owners have been out day and night looking for him, postering, handing out fliers etc. Everyone they have met has been very helpful and will be keeeping an eye out for him too, but we need some more people to search. The weather is cold and snowy up here and he should not be out in it at his age..He has been seen around the underpass around the Kingsway a few times so he may be sheltering in nearby parks and bushes there.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- If only I was nearer but I couldn't be further away (Devon). Really hope you find him soon - an old fellow like this deserves a warm fire to sit beside. Did he just wander off? I ask because I had one dog who, in old age, seemed to lose track of where she was or where we were. She was OK otherwise, but we had to keep her very close or she wandered off. Will keep checking Shep's page - I wish you the best of luck in catching up with him.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- Have spoken to owner who is really upset. Sent her fliers and poster by email and informed Scottish Rescues. I am sure this old boy won't be far away. Someone will have taken him in. Have given advice to owner so she will soon be out postering and handing out fliers. Hopefully Shep will be home soon. If anyone can help with help in any way please call owner on 07982 198069 or 01698 822265 and email me at sable77doglost@gmail.com to receive posters and fliers of this dog to distribute.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
