"In the Candle's Glow"
Warm light coming from far below,
Twinkling, sparkling is the candle's glow.
All is well up on the ridge,
The place we know as Rainbow Bridge. Furbabies sleeping in heaven's light,
Tended by candles in the night.
Peaceful dreams be theirs to keep,
As they slumber in this night so deep. Hearts on earth that miss them so,
Take comfort in the candle's glow.
Watching for them in skies above,
Bound eternally by a cord of love. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18 - 2010-02-03 00:33 janesewell

- Have been to Bovingdon market today as a friend told me he had found his dog through a contact there. Weather was awfull but put some posters up and the two pet supplies stalls were extremely helpful so fingers crossed! We now have some fab laminated A3 posters so I have been putting them up in town and at junctions xxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- Keep going Jane - you can never poster enough - move your search area out another mile or so. concentrate on the main roads, make sure she's on places like gumtree, preloved, freeads etc etc, place cards in newsagents, put posters near main bus stops, the major post office delivery offices for all posties to see, at taxi offices for drivers to take on routes etc.xxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- Its exactly a week since our dog went missing and like yourselves the lack of sightings makes us convinced that he has been taken. A quiet drink in the local pub has provided further information that we have a known gun-dog thief in our area... not much comfort when you are missing your favourite hound but it proves to me that we have to stand up to these people. - I'm already on the facebook group and I've twittered it too to everyone that follows us on there. Great that you have a place a banner could go in. We need a blatent "you've got her, we want her back" sort of notice that no-one can miss when they drive past... fingers crossed you can sort something. In the meantime more and more posters - in this nasty weather the older ones will start to look a little jaded so check they don't need replacement too xxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- Wow what a good idea - we could easily put one in Ashridge along the side of the road on our own fence. The road is pretty busy and I am sure it would be noticed. We could also put one between two cars and park by the monument for the day and then go somewhere else the next day. the article has gone in the local paper and I have had a couple of people saying that they will put the word about but nothing any more positive as yet. Thanks again everyoneLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- All: I think we need to be more obvious now - the lack of sightings really does seem to indicate to me that either she's been taken in by someone who hasn't come forward or that she's been deliberately taken and we need to really really step up and make them notice that you want her back. A good method used in Essex with a missing lurcher was a ruddy great big banner - do you have a main road where she went missing or at a major road junction where you can approach the landowner to stake a banner such as these http://www.bannersuk.com/ - alternatively it could go over a bridge (though there it could be removed by the council) - its a cheap way of getting them done - I believe that the owner of the Essex dog, Genie, may also be able to get these printed? Angus: Jotty has Genie's mum's contact details if you need them. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Springerjane, I agree about the dock which was one of the reasons we chose that particular photo as it showed her tail. - 2 working dogs (Cocker Spaniels)stolen from Steeple Claydon 21357, 21358 - not far away. Perhaps may be an idea for the owners to collaberate on some advertising/ press as a way forward to raise their profiles and make these dogs too hot to handleLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- just got home, sorry if anyone tried to contact me today- i had absolutely no signal on my phone for most of it.have put posters up in- Dagnall, Ringshall, Nettleden,Frithsden, all around any footpaths i came across leading away from Ashridge, A few in Northchurch. i also leafletted hundreds of cars all over the ashridge estate including up by the Bridgewater monument- most of the people i spoke to knew about Bonny and had seen the posters the owners have put up in the area. nice to know this is working. one lady i spoke to with two collies told me that when her dog went missing from Ashridge - it was found over near Hemel Hempstead by a farmer, so Hemel outskirts could do with postering too,(potton end, warners end area)really need a sighting though now , just to confirm her appx whereabouts. i agree about more further afield need ing posters. as the crow flies even ivinghoe, aston clinton eaton bray, eddlesborough and studham are not far.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- That's great news that the posters are being seen! I'm not sure if you can go further afield but we've had problems in the past with dogs being found in the dunstable and rickmansworth areas. Might be worth postering there too? Keep up the good work all of you! xxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- hi Jacks, i can come and help but i cant come until after work so may not be any use to you all, though that should be earlier than usual tomorrow, got most of the day free New years day though. if you take a look at a map-(google earth is even better) northchurch common(new road) just has a finger of woodland that leads directly into ashridge, there is just so much green space around there. will take your number and give you a call- it may be too dark to do much near those woods though by the time i can get there tomorrow as i have to drive from Bedford. - The estate is huge but i know there are loads of walkers there in the summer, and prob some hardy dogwalkers now too so a good place to put up some posters, for them to keep a lookout. theres a lot of ground on the way there, out of Northchurch(the Northchurch Common & this links up to the Ashridge estate) where the dogs could hide too. The railway crosses the New road at northchurch here so would be a good idea to inform the railways people too. just found a map of the walks on the estate but theres many random footpaths as well. http://www.chilternsaonb.org/site_details.asp?siteID=20 Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
