Just spoken to owner . Mel has just been found following a call from someone who had seen posters and Mel. Please can we move her over to the blue. She is quite traumatised but i think seems otherwise ok. Owner is just giving Angus a ring to let her know. Also spoken to pumpkin to let her know posters are not needed :DLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Just had a phone call from very happy owner Mel has just been found - they had a call from someone who had seen their posters to say that a dog had been howling all last night on aprivate estate locally, owner went straight over armed with torches and food and have just found her sheltering in some scrubland. Owners son has cut his leg badly on barbed wire fencing and will need treatment but is so happy that Mel is safe and home. Mel is a little traumatised by her adventure - hopefully a good night sleep and a small feed will have her feeling a bit better tomorrow.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I have spoken with owners this morning Mel escaped from the house when the front door was accidently not locked properly when owner went out. Mel is a rescue dog who is very nervous Mel is frightened of men and children but will possibly go to a friendly dog with a woman walker as she is comfortable with dogs & women. She was last spotted last night at 8.15 in the next village near Bromham Bridge. Microchip people and rescue have been informed and owners were out searching & postering until 2 am. There is a busy road nearby so hoping that she has found shelter overnight.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi I?m sorry to hear MEL  is missing.
Firstly contact dog wardens, vets and local rescue centres?local council stray dogs holding kennel give them all a detailed description of your dog with any distinguishing marks/scars.., If you can go down there each day to check for your dog that is the best thing as they only have to hold a dog for 7 days before it can legally be rehomed or in some cases destroyed. It is also worth contacting the local police as if someone has found your dog they may well have contacted them.
email admin@doglost.co.uk with a photo please if you haven?t already.
You can only print posters when you are signed in.
Get postering now?..as quickly and as many as you can physically manage. make sure you offer a reward on the posters.
POSTER POSTER POSTER!!!?I cannot emphasize how important this is, from the posters you will get sightings and lots of extra pairs of eyes looking out for your dog.
Poster bus stops, train stations, supermarket/retail park car parks, pet shops petrol stations, lay by snack vans, service stations, bins, poo bins, shopping centres, take away outlets, pubs, lamposts, caf?s, leisure centre?s,??.basically anywhere people go you need to poster like mad so nobody misses them? ask in as many places as you can if they will display a poster for you.
Tell postman and binmen and give them a poster so they have your phone no handy? infact tell every single person you meet while searching as the more people know the much better chance of getting your dog back quickly.
Contact the local newspaper and radio stations? take out an advert with a photo in the papers pets section lost and found and make sure you offer a reward!.
If you believe your dog has been stolen then it is very important you contact the police for a crime reference number?. And the postering publicity should have the aim of not only getting your dog home but making it too hot to handle.
keep going back to the place where your dog was last seen and leave something with their scent on it there. Good luck xx
