So lovely to see her back at home!  Thank you.  So glad people at Riverway had the mind to catch her - at last - people who understand!  :-) Sheba travelled a long way after all.  Her poor little feet.  Give her a big kiss for me!  XLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Lovely reunited photo now on site - thanks Angus for downloading it for me. Doesn't Sheba look great considering her 'adventure' and the real bad weather. Those pallettes were a good place to hide, clever girl.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Received a lovely reunited photo from Mel tonight with Sheba back home with her doggie brother/sister....together again! Ah, bless them. Knew all you helpers would love to see it too so will upload to her page shortly. O2 bluebook temporarily unavailable so I can't download it but forwarded it to Angus who kindly will. Mel's having computer problems hence hasn't been able to post and Jo has been on her behalf. She thanks everyone for their help. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

The problem we're having is we're going around putting posters up and the council keep taking them mel did all round milwards twice as they keep taking them down. The problem Mel has she can't get her car out at the moment we've been picking her up as we have 4x4 but can't today, so she can only go on foot in those surrounding areas it's a bit far for her to walk to the other side of Harlow with two young kids. We've been out every single day and night since sunday most nights to midnight but never have any sightings ourself we have phone calls to say she been seen and go they straight away but she gone, problem with the area she been seen in there are so many fields that interlock with each other so she could be travelling through em, some of the fields we can get into but not all of them. We getting really frustrated with the people that keep taking her in and not phoning anyone! Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

At least you know she is still okay.  She needs you to find her. Keep going, keep postering - stick the posters anywhere you can get them.  If you can, get some laminated (yes, it costs a bit but if you can afford it, your precious dog is worth it.  I would have given everything I had if only I could have got my dog back). Laminated posters last - they survive all weathers for ages.  Put them in prominent areas where they will stay for all to see.  Poster, poster, poster.  I am helping as much as I can.  You must be doing well though because you are getting sightings, well done everyone!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

3am, just got back in. Skye's mum, Karen and I have been out since 930pm, we parked up by the cricket ground and went on foot over the fields, across the golf club towards roydon and back. Then got in the van and drove round the pinnacles, Foldcroft, Sainsburys, the old sports centre and along edinburgh way. Spoke to the few people we saw and handed out the flyers. Chatted to some very nice policemen that put out an announcement over the airwaves while we were with them to keep an eye out and call mel if they saw her. Will do my best to join you all in the morning, please call / text me if you see her, the phone will wake me and i will get out ASAP.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Got my map out again - looking like a triangle! A more feasible one this time!  Roydon, Foldcroft & Golf course, Pinnacles.  I have driven round all these areas tonight; spoken to security guards. I didn't see any posters though I 'm sure they are there.  Can someone send me a poster please and I can copy them and put them up.  I can't do it tomorrow though (rescuing some other animals!). We stand more chance of an immediate call to a sighting with more.   Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Great there has been another sighting - is a pattern emerging? If the farmer has barns/outbuildings maybe Sheba is using these as a base? She will have a base/somewhere she beds down. Bumped due to latest sighting. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I forgot to say I walked down to old harlow this morning where she was possibly sighted but no joy. We did have a call yesterday from a guy that he saw her monday near pinnicles going across to katherines and had said she was limping he did call her but she justed ran. Most sightings seem to be in this area that's why we covered this area yesterday on foot until we heard she was seen at milwards so we headed back that way. We was out from 8.30 until 6.00pm and then me and my partner went for drive around all the areas she was possibly sighted. Where are Sheba?Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Mum & I have just got back in - we did the same area as Isak & Buddy!  Also, drove around main roads and areas near by. Due to bad snow, place is almost empty and you can get a good view and see if anything's moving. Tried the Fish & Chip shop in Old Harlow and other "smelly" places. Can anyone poster Church Langley (maybe Sawbridgeworth too, just in case?) I'm unable to do that quick enough myself as have to work.  We should anticipate a possible direction from Old Harlow & going by what Jotty has said she could being doing a BIG triangle.  I got my map out - posters might be good in Potter Street, before Sheba gets there. Sheba is doing well - she keeps being spotted even in all this snow - she's a strong girl.  She has to be caught soon.  Hang in there. Aw, all you Harlow helpers are just the BEST! :-) Mel/Jo - if you're not already, plot each sighting of Sheba.....either get an OS map or print one of the area from Google or something. This will show a pattern she is travelling in, most likely almost a triangular shape, and it will help with the scenting etc and also trying to get ahead of her.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I went out today on foot for about two and half hours, along back of town park to hospital and up to foldcroft, where i met Mel and she had spoted my gsd and for a moment thought it was Sheba in the woods.Neither of us had any sightings. Went out again tonight and had a mesg to say she had been seen up the pinnicles around where the boot sale is held, we were in the area within 20mins of  her being there but again no sightings.Drove around until just gone midnight and then Mels mum and family and  i decided to go home. Hope she is home soon as the snow was settling, and was very cold out. Mel had put some dog food out and left the pourch open as was told had been seen  in Millwards area but may not have been able to get in. Hi I'm Mel sister just wanted to update Mel has been out all day with a few others and we joined her after work there was a few sightings but found out tonight that yesterday about 2pm she was seen near Katherines way we covered quite a large area tonight but had no luck. We are really worried about her as snow is due and has been quite cold last few days. We did find out that Sunday one of the units in pinnicles had taken her in for the day but when they left they just let her go didn't think to report her which is frustrating keeping fingers crossed for a safe return as Mel and kids are very upset and being that she has got young kids she finding it hard to get out so all the extra is great!.  Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Sorry Sheba isn't home yet. We will be looking today also as will other dog walkers we have told. It's good so many positive sightings lets get her home quickly. The black cab drivers have her flyer and are also looking . If anyone see any Keir drivers please give them a flyer too, I found them very helpful when we lost out JRT and they cover a great deal of Harlow everyday. Sarah

Just got back from searching around cannons brook golf club, with Karen and co. but as Karen said no luck. Drove around the areas she had been seen before and went to burger king and McDonalds incase the smell of food had taken her in that direction, but no sign of her. What has made me cross is that Sheba was siiting down by the clubhouse for quite a while and nobody there thought to get hold of her. Explained to the owner about scenting and she is going to take her other dog around the area tomorrow to leave its scent.Lets hope we have good news soon.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi Mutts in Distress are aware of Sheba and the Mutts team in and around harlow have had her picture by text. A couple of us were out postering have done the station ticket offices, Sainsburys front doors & Petrol Station, Tesco Edinburgh Way front doors and Petrol station, the black taxi rank at the station and Marnee's all night snack stop on edinburgh way, the petrol station at the pinnacles, the pubs around cannons brook and fold croft, the co op and the luigi's fish & chip delivery drivers all have her poster in their cars. We were just about to head back home when we postered the social club by the shark park and one of the members said Sheba had been around Cannons brook golf course all day and was there when he left to come to the club. So after a few phone calls we have searched the area, unfortuntley no luck tonight, however one of the helpers out with us handed a leaflet to a dog walker in fold croft who said Sheba had been around the hospital pond and the fold croft cycle track Sunday. Will be out again tomorrow with more posters. Fingers crossed for tomorrow. KarenLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I have just phoned the owner to tell her about my friends daughters sighting and said i would post details on the site, but she has beaten me to it. Have offered to post around Stow and surounding areas . The owner has young children and would welcome any help people can offer., she has informed police, dog wardens and all vets and posted several areas. Sheba is from MIlwards and should know her way home, but sounds like she has gone from home to pinnacles along Elizabeth Way and now heading towards the town . Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi, I am pretty sure I saw this dog on Saturday 2nd Jan around 6pm. I was driving from PC World direction across the roundabout where the station is (that meets 5th Avenue). I crossed straight over to go to Roydon (along the road to the industrial area - sorry I don't know the road names). A long haired German Shepherd with tail ran out across the path of my car. Luckily I had spotted it running from my right (from direction of the car garage there) and stopped so the dog wasn't hit. The dog was running at some speed and continued round the corner and up 5th Avenue towards Sainsburys. It was on the old ski slope side of the road. I parked my car and got out to try to find the dog. But by this time, it was out of sight. I continued looking and walked up towards Sainsburys. I bumped into another woman who was also looking for the dog. It wasn't hers, but she had seen it prior to my sighting, and apparently, it had been hit on the rear flank by a car. The driver was said to be very distressed. However, the dog ran off and now this lady was also looking for it. The fact it could run means at least it didn't have a broken leg, and hopefully as it was the rear end hit, there are not any more serious injuries. The lady and I continued trying to find the dog, separately at the Sainsburys roundabout while she took the right, and I the left. However our search was futile, it was dark and we had no idea where the dog was heading. I phone the police to tell them and they said they would alert all the officers in the area. The dog looked very similar to the one in your photo, though I couldn't tell if it had a collar or not as it was dark and it rushed by so quickly. I am sorry I wasn't able to find it for you as I know how distressing losing a dog is.

Just seen a poster in Staple Tye as we were driving home from doctors is this for your Sheba? We will happily keep a keen eye out for your dog. We have just got ours jack Russell back from the CM18 area of Harlow. I must say Doglost were fantastic with all the advice we were given on scenting and who to ring. Please poster as much as you can, would you like some help with this? I know it is very upsetting but get as many as you can up as quickly as possible. I understand she is missing from the staple tye area but may I suggest you also cover Commonside road. Do you have a printer? I have one if this is a problem for you. I  hope she is home safe with you soon. Was your fence old or has it in your opinion been broken? Sarah x
