CLEO'S OWNER- HAVE YOU ANYONE TO HELP YOU CHECK THIS DOG WHEN IT HOWLS AT NIGHT? EVEN IF NOT CLEO SHOULD'NT BE LEFT TO HOWL LIKE THAT. PERHAPS A NIGHT VISIT TO THIS FIELD WOULD BE A GOOD THING.
collielove
The dog is back in the field howling again it had either been moved or taken inside as no]one had heard it for a while,im on the wrong side of the river to be able to see into the field but there is definatly horses and now the dog is back again.Todays the first time weve heard it for a while.Last edited: 2011-02-20 20:44:54 by collielove

JUST WONDERED IF YOU HAD CHECKED OUT THE DOG MENTIONED BELOW. SO HOPED IT WAS CLEO.
collielove
im not sure about the howl as the dog barks then howls then barks again theres the railway bridge a bungalow then flats then i think another house before the field im assume the dogs in a shed if not definatly tied up as the barks/howls come from one place and doesnt sound the dog is moving about im the opposite side of the river so cant see into the field as there are trees or a hedge.
Jane.Sanford
I think I know the area you're describing. I don't suppose you happen to know if the dog howls on more than one note? It's a strange question, but Cleo's half basenji and she cries in a pretty distinctive way with lots of odd noises. Is the shed in the first field past the block of flats, do you know? Thanks!
collielove
A lot of people have reported a dog howling in a field fen rd side of river cam just past the railway bridge going towards fen ditton there is a couple of houses and a block of flats then a field with a couple of horses it sounds so the dog is locked up in a shed of some sort but we cant see as we live the other side of the river this has been on and off for about a year, you never know it could be cleo.
Auntie Katie
Its been a year now since Cleo went missing, although there have been numerous possible sightings none of them have brought her home to her family. Please keep the information coming and lets hope she is home soon. xx

New sighting! Someone called in on Friday to say that they saw her Thursday (sometime during the day) lounging on Stourbridge Common near the bridge to the Green Dragon. Fresh round of posters going up!
collielove
Hi she was with an older lady walking about 4ft infront of her the lady had a lead in her hand, the dog was very dirty not muddy but a yellowie white the lady was probably over 60 tall and scruffy.really hope shes found ill walk my dogs over that way this weekend and see if i can spot her again.
Jane.Sanford
Posters up and awaiting another sighting/ Collielove, did you mean that she was out on the common WITH an older woman, or was she running free? If someone's been keeping her that might explain why she hasn't been spotted in so long.
Auntie Katie
Cleo's mum is getting some updated posters out in the area. Fingers crossed! x

Happy eighth birthday Cleo. I hope that wherever you are you're happy, healthy and spoilt rotten. Please come home.

Just got a call from a little girl that saw a man walking a dog looking like Cleo down Kendal Way (Chesterton). Said she saw the man strike the dog, as well. Out to get out a fresh round of posters on street corners and in mailboxes.
Auntie Katie
Thank you Collielove, I'd been to Wood Green the day before you posted and saw one that I too thought was similar to Cleo but it wasn't her. I've emailed her mum to see if there's been any more news. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

No news apart from two convoluted red herring tips, one from a nice old man that was convinced a jack russel at Wood Green was Cleo (close, but not her) and another nice fellow who called to tell me that he's found and handed in a simialr bitch within a quarter mile of my house - six weeks ago. As it turns out from many calls to the council (who were fantastic) and Wood Green (less so) it wasn't her either. Nice of him to wait so very long when I know i put up posters just outside his house.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Jane - thats brilliant - Are you doing the scenting? You should be able to set up a feed station and lead her home by scenting all the way from there to home, if its that close. Good Luck ! Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Excellent news Jane ! At last !  You now need to poster heavily all around the sighting area, and plot all sightings onto an ordnance survey map or similar. We are looking for her route, so this needs to be done. Good luck !! Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Very difficult for you Jane. So sorry you are having to come up against this. I can only advise you try to keep your posters looking fresh, by replaceing any damaged ones, and get more up in private places such as pet shops, animal feed stores, libraries, village halls, garages, etc. Any places you can think of where the most people go. We have had this problem with other councils and have found this is the best way to get around it. Also get your friends, family, and neighbours to have posters in their cars. I do wish you luck with this, and hopefully you will get news soon. Your Cleo is quite distinctive and someone must know something. Good Luck and I sincerely hope she is back with you soon. So much for the poster campaign: I got a phone call from a woman at cambridge city council. Apparently they only tolerate dog posters for so long, and with several hundred up someone has noticed that mine have been around for a few weeks. Supposedly I am to take them down? I was tempted to ask if the policy would be the same if the poster were for a lost child.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Owner has added a new photo - I have switched it to the poster photo as Cleo looks different with ears down. Will now, tonight, make up a DogLost Poster and some flyers with both photos on. Up until now owner has been using her own posters. Might bring some luck to try ours. Will email to co-ordinator Kate for distribution later tonight. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Excellent Jane !  We would advise to heavily poster the area asap and get as many flyers out as soon as possible. Post them through doors and hand to everyone you see. If you need help with posters or flyers let us know, but the more publicity now, the more sightings. Well done. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Cleo's owner is doing a fantastic job getting Cleo known.  Has already done extensive postering and they are still going up.  We think Cleo was seen running down Fen Road on the day she went missing but not confirmed for direction and timings.   She has contacted all dog wardens,  been in to all local practices with posters, visited Wood Green and the RSPCA in Wimblington and is postering like mad.    I've notified a local dog walking group and put her details on facebook page.  I hope Cleo is home with her mum soon!  Stay safe little girl! x Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Just spoken to owner,  she is out postering now.  Has received text (thank you Alison!) and housemate is sorting photo now.  Cleo ran off along the tow path along the Cam in Chesterton,  possibly after a rabbit.  She does have a microchip but its in an American one so may not show on the scanners most UK practices have.   She's a sweet natured dog and she is half Basenji which may make her wary of strangers.  Will email information over now.   Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
