Hi Deb4GSD, thank you for thinking of Finn and posting on his page, I'm sorry its taken so long for me to post back. Finn was 5 when he went missing so he would be 6 now. If you do see him again we'd be very interested to hear. I haven't heard back from Finn's owners for the last few times I have tried to contact them. The search for him took over their lives for a long time and I think in the end they have greived for him and resigned themselves to the fact that he's gone. If we could get him home I'm sure they would be over the moon. Last edited: 2011-06-28 16:13:07 by Auntie Katie

Hi, just wondering how old Finn is? I've been searching through the 'lost' GSD's purely because one of the places where we take our dogs for a walk has now got travellers on site, been there last few weeks. The other day we noticed one of the dogs they had tied up was a large, long coated GSD, very light in colour, as in possible sable. It was amongst the trees so didn't get full view, but was a boisterous or energetic dog, jumping about barking. As we were leaving, we bumped into a friend of ours who was walking his GSD and he asked if we had seen the GSD the travellers have. Apparently he had commented to them how lovely he was and they offered to sell him for £300, they said he was 2yrs old! how true the age I don't know! We are in N.Wales but obviously being as the people are travellers, the dog could have come from anywhere, but he was definitely very similar in looks to Finn. One of the men who was with the dog spoke to us briefly as a little boy he had with him was coming over to our dogs. The accent he had was more of a 'London/Cockney accent'. It's a very, very long shot, but thought I would check out any similar looking long haired GSD's on Doglost, just incase!
Auntie Katie
They did, they notified everywhere they could think of, they drove for miles checking out possibles but they were never him. I just hope he is home with them one day.

Did owner try local dog rescues or GS rescues and pounds.

looking for lurchers
Finn went missing at the same time as our lurchers.  We check the site regularly hoping he finds his way home safe just as our boys did.  We've got all our fingers and paws crossed!  C'mon Finn!

Sent text for update - unfortunately still no news on Finn,  have suggested creating a "still missing" poster so he's not forgotten in the area.   The news is definately spreading,  somebody from my dog training group in Cambridge knew all about Finn so well done for getting the news so wide-spread!  Fingers crossed for some news soon.  Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I've spoken to Finn's dad today,  they've spoken to the finder of the GSD on the found pages but they hadn't mananged to catch it.  They have exchanged details and as a GSD owner the finder was very interested in spreading the word about Finn.   They are keeping in touch and Finns family are all ready to dash over if its spotted again or caught. Hi Toni - thanks for posting. We are all sorry you have not got your lovely boy home yet. Chin up !  its still early days, and you just keep on postering and getting the word out there. The more posters and flyers, the sooner you will hear something. Can you get something in the papers with a photo? Thats how we got Archie and Rory lurchers home. Its worth a shot as soon as possible. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

A GSD fitting Finn's description has been seen running in Elm,  a village near to Wisbech,  somebody mentioned it in the local post office and they called Finn's owners,  I've just spoken to them and they are driving round the village now asking look and stopping everybody they see but no luck as yet. Fingers crossed this is Finn and he's home soon! x Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Finn was seen in a garden on Monday 18th in Walton High Way,  Finn's owners have been over with some pictures and they are almost certain that it was him.  The area has been heavily postered but theres been no sign of him since.  Finn's owners are fairly sure the one running loose in Godmanchester isn't Finn.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thank everyone who has posted. Welcome to Steph and to Toni. I have alerted cambs co-ordinator Kate to your posts, so hopefully she will be in touch with you. Toni - perhaps you could go back to the person whos garden Finn was seen in, and ask if you could leave food there, in order to hopefully tempt Finn back. It may even be possible to trap him in the garden. If the other dog is different, we definitely need to catch that poor thing also. All areas of sightings need heavily postering, and maybe food could be left for the nervous dog as well. Yes, it is possible the dogs being stolen are linked, but thankfully we have sightings now to work on. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

With reference to the black GSD sighted below (Yasa 23/1), we had a sighting yesterday afternoon - it was clipped by a van and a car on West Street, Godmanchester and was seen running up Bury Lane. We patrolled but no sightings. Had a report this morning, dog was seen in Bury Lane he ran away from a lady and has bolted near the railway line towards the Offords / Little Paxton. Very scared dog - if anyone sees this dog please notify Val or me. 07810 637570. This is going to be difficult to catch as he is running scared :(Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Just spoken to Finn's owner,  he was out in the garden and when they looked out he'd gone so not sure if he managed to escape or if he was taken.  Owners are postering like mad,  dog wardens, vets and rescues all notified,  Finn is also appearing in the Wisbech Standard this week. Have emailed info and they are emailing a picutre in tonight.  Stay safe Finn!  x Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
