This dog was abandoned on Capel Crescent Pillgwenlly, Newport, by the nursery. Does anyone knows whose dog this is?
He has been collected by the police and taken to Summerhill Vets. Thank you to the group of residents who helped him also to the 2 officers who carefully put him in their van. People were openly crying at the state of this poor lad. He didn't get like that overnight, so someone left him to suffer appallingly before discarding him like an old shoe. Even though he was obviously in a lot of pain, and hungry he was still very trusting to the people who were helping him. I really hope whoever it is gets the punishment they so richly deserve.
UPDATE
I have phoned Summerhill and he is resting, warm and calm. They are going to treat his skin problem and his emaciation. I was unable to get any more information than that, but he is safe and warm.
UPDATE
Regarding earlier update - he is still at Summerhill, the RSPCA have been informed, he is now being treated with intravenous antibiotics to clear up his infected skin and he is comfortable.
UPDATE
Summerhill has had a lot of offers for donations to help with his care and treatment.

Anyone who knows the name of the 'owner' of this dog can contact Gwent Police on 101

There's a dog similar to Hector in the Bournemouth area with someone who appears to be living on the street, I think it is strange to see this breed of dog in this situation. May be worth looking into
visionvalue
Please take a look at this link. They are saying he was found as a stray and possible only 20mth old so could be a bit young but worth having a look if only to rule him out.

SANDY A
There is a 8 month old Bordeaux on preloved for sale for £500 worth checking out,
xx
dewilliams42
what was the outcome of that poor boxer-was the situation eventually investigated?
westmidsgal
Hector MAY be in the Wolverhampton area I'm currently in contact with Hector's owner, I've sent her a photo of a dog that has similarities to Hector. So lets see what happens.
DogLostNina
Bearing in mind that a year has gone by since Hector has been missing he would have grown so much bigger and he could be anywhere in the country. Wish we knew whether he was microchipped or not.
westmidsgal
Thank you, I'm trying. I've gone through so many sites today
dewilliams42
was wondering why the rspca wont investigate- surely that is their purpose-prevention of cruelty to animals?
Mollychops
Owner has got back to me . She contacted them about this poor dog.It wasnt Hector, the markings and colourings werent the same.

Thanks Nina, ive emailed Hectors owner. Her mobile doesnt work any more as she has moved on, I hope she gets it

So very sorry to hear that Hector has been stolen. I had a horse stolen once. From past experience, animals are treated like property and to them (or so it feels) an animals is of no more importance than a watch being stolen. I had to do all the leg work, the only thing that eventually worked and got me anywhere was constantly phoning, going into the police station and sitting until I had just a snippet of info. You really do need to keep pressing the police. I have everything crossed for you xxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I know its cold outside but what about buying or hiring a megaphone and standing in a busy place and let everyone know that Hector is missing and how he went missing..  By doing this and handing out doglost missing leaflets about Hector you may gain valuable publicity from the media.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Well, well, well seems that the contact at the Forest of Dean has been busy sending out emails.....got one exactly the same.  It wasnt by chance Debbie Powell,  Forest of Dean Crime and Disorder Partnership Co-ordinator  (posh title) that sent it was it.  I will be replying to her over the weekend.  Do hope there is some good news to read about Hector in the near future.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I also recieved the same email, but, ive sent one back to them stating the micro chip wont find the dog if the thieves dont want the dog found! and also asking if the boxer dog has been siezed yet?they have said dog fighting isnt a problem in the area, or dog theft to which ive replied that obviously there is dog fighting going on or that boxer wouldnt be there in the first place and Hector has been stolen!!!.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I recieved an e mail yesterday from forest of dean council in response to the e mail I sent them last week asking them to get involved  with Hector's case. The local council have discussed the case with the police investigators who told them they were dealing with it! Really hope they find him soon. Hopefully all the E mails we sent to the council last weekend has spurred them on!!
I was also advised by the council there wasn't a problem with dog fighting in the forest of dean and that I had nothing to fear about visiting the area if I got my dogs microchipped.Of course they are already but i don't see how that would stop these people from taking my dogs!

Its amazing to me, that these people have entered the property illegally, caused criminal damage, steal a dog, and still no one has been charged.  There was some hope last night that Hector had been located, but unfortunately it was not him.  The owner is going to the police again tommorow, she should stay there until the police agree to do something constructive, along with a solicitor to see why these people have not been charged yet.  How can a dog take his lead which was hanging up, and take himselft out the door, do the police really think people are that stupid. The owner has to keep the pressure up, if these people get charged as they should, tell them the only deal on the table is the return of Hector. I mean to say the whole story beggars belief, i just hope hector is found soon.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

really hope these professionals (police and RSPCA) do the job they are paid to do and sort these 'animals' (they cannot be called people) out. snoopdog, we don't have a greyhound race track in Bristol anymore, it's Ikea now.  Well done to everyone in their efforts to get Hector home, let's hope it's very soon.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi there Am following this story everyday.... Perhaps try putting up posters by the Jobcenters and surround as this is a facility used weekly by all types of people spread the work and try flyers in the local free papers. The Greyhound track at Bristol may put up a poster or two for you also this type of venue attracts all sorts and you may get a lucky break. I am sure that whoever has this poor dog will get rumbled sooner or later. I have everything crossed for you sorry I don't live closer. XLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hector is still missing although the owner has said the have a good idea who who has taken him so the Police are involved now thankfully but please look out for Hector and keep those posters up which will make him too hot to handle.

Have been trying to think of ways to help bring to light about missing dog Hector and about the Forest of Dean/Dog Fighting Group.  Facebook/Twitter is not someithing that I use but I know that many of you do, so that would be one avenue.  I will be contacting the council and tourist board and tell them that becasue of what we hear and what is apparently going on that we will not be visiting the area with our caravan.  We will also pass this information on to other caravan owners.  We as holiday makers bring in a fair amount of money to that area.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

So what can be done by all of us to bring this to the publics and proper authorities attention.  For myself I live many miles away from the area involved but if anyone can give out some suggestions to us dog lovers ..who knows what collectively we could do.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Apparently the RSPCA has been informed as it is believed that the property Hector was taken to in The Forest of Deane is a known Dog Fighting gang that use Pit Bulls! At this property there was seen a poor Boxer in a Crate with his face severely damaged and very underweight the RSPCA have not yet attended,,, WHY? The Police were also informed!
I dread to think what could happen to this poor Boxer and Hector if the RSPCA take so long to investigate? :(Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

It appears from speaking to people in the Forest of Dean , that the police have suspects with regards to the theft of this dog, but have yet to interview the couple.  By the time something has been done, the dog could be long gone. I know that the people in the area have been working tirelessly to try to gain the help of the local police, unfortunately, as we have learned so many times, some police forces really have no time or inclination to deal with dog theft, so its down to you girls, poster, poster, make this dog to hot to handle.
