- message recieved from owner Hi Jane Please thank everyone for their messages of concern and good wishes. I collected Alfie earlier this afternoon ; such a very small bundle for such a big & vital character... I think he was chasing foxes when he fell in to the water and unfortunately this time round, there was no escape for him. He gave us 3 great years of boisterous, bouncing fun and affection. We’re really going to miss him - as will all his friends in the neighbourhood. We have decided on cremation arranged via the Vet. An appropriate ’au revoir’ we think, for one who shone so very, very bright. RIP Alfie 19th Dec 2007 - Feb 1st 2010 ’For the candle that flames twice as bright burns half as long...’Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- So sorry you didn't get little Alfie home. You posted that you didn't know what to do with his remains. A quiet spot in the garden to bury him is a good way, I think, but if that's not an option then consult Yellow Pages for Pet Cremations or even Pet Burial sites. I feel it is right to want to pay him respect as you deal with his body, but remember his spirit is flying free somewhere.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- How very sad. Yet another one lost to water. I do wish people would keep their ponds covered or fenced off - not very attractive I know, but would ultimately save a lot of heartache. My thoughts are with Alfie's owners at this sad time. Run free at the bridge dear little Alfie xxxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- sad news from owner as Alfie has been found in a neighbours pond. run free at the bridge Alfie- thoughts with owners at this sad time. CJ Hi Jane, Bad news I’m afraid, Just had a call from someone in the neighbourhood telling me that they had just found Alfie drowned in their pond. The strange thing is that he apparently did not appear to have been in the pond for that long - (certainly not 12 days...so maybe he escaped from somewhere). I am going to collect him tomorrow, but not too sure after that, what to do with his remains... Thanks for all your help. OliverLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- LOCAL HELPERS location and some details from owners Owners live at the top of Frant Road, just below Forest Road, very close to St Marks’ Rugby & Cricket Ground. Normally he would go and wander around Chenies Close which has a large communal garden that runs along our northern boundary, but would always come back. On occasion he would risk life and limb and cross the Frant Road to go walkabout in the hedgerows around the rugby fields where we would take him for walks. . An advert will also be appearing in the Courier this friday, . He has previously been kennelled at Redsheen, so they should hopefully be aware of him. I will however call them, and the other kennels, as you suggest. Thank you so much for your email. Any help you can give will be greatly appreciated. We are all devastated by his disappearance. - I have just spoken to owners after I sent an email to get more details. Seems Alfie escaped from garden after a break in fencing ( electric) when owners un aware it was faulty. Local DW is aware but I will alert neighbouring DW as well. Advised to check at Viking oaks and also to report as lost to chip company as this had not yet been done. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
