Owner is very gratefull for our help, and information sheets and has been in touch via email with the following information. I have advised further on all points. :-      Fell and Moorland could only suggest the Animal Fire & Rescue Team in Lyndhurst (apparantely the best in the South), but owner could only leave a message. They were also of the opinion that she would have a struggle to get anyone to search the sett with a camera or a sensor, as there is so much protection in place now for the badgers. They would need a special licence + definite proof that her dog was in there, in order to do anything about it at all, and she cannot I provide this, as there hasn’t been a sound from there since last Friday morning. Nor signs of a struggle. Owner knows Trooper would have made straight for the sett, as the barking went on for at least 20-25 mins. Sadly, when she got to the sett which was about 35 mins later (as she had to get her little grandson),she couldn’t see or hear anything and couldn’t prove that he had gone right down into the sett. Owner said there could be youngsters down there at this time of the year, so the chances of him coming out unharmed are probably next to none.   After having Trooper for 14 years she believes he would have come home after about 45-60mins, due to hunger after his adventure. He has gone into the neighbours garden twice in the past 2 1/2years and came back on one occasion with a slightly bleeding mouth.    She also said she felt she wouldn?t be able to do anything, should he have been taken in by a passer by and not reported as lost, in order to be scanned. She said It is very distressing that she cannot check thoroughly, as to whether he did enter the sett and if he is alive or dead. But she feels that she owes it to him to get him out, regardless of his condition and to bury him and make a closure.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Have now sent an A4 poster, flyers, and scenting information, and given the contact details for The Fell and Moorland Working Terrier Club. They may possibly have someone in the area who could help. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Annie I have sent you contact details for the very kind person below, offering to help you. I understand it is very urgent that you find Trooper due to his medication. I have also just emailed you some information sheets which should guide you through what you have to do. I will be creating a much better poster and flyers for you shortly, which I will also email through to you. I hope all of this helps a little, and you get Trooper back safely soon. Robbie55ww  - thank you for your offer of help. I know Troopers owner would be so very grateful. If you could give her a call on the number on the poster, I know she will be pleased to hear from you. To open the poster, click on DOG POSTER 1 above the dog detail boxes, left hand side towards the top. You need to be freshly logged in to do that. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
