- Quite a lot of media interest in this story, as you can imagine. But there are all sorts of issues this case has raised and we will be looking at those aspects as well.

- The photo is of Charlie on back seat of car in the arms of owners son. Had to crop it first and working on getting that video for you all to see. You will need to refresh to see the new photo.

- Incredible, after six years...just shows it CAN happen! Coppa, you and your family must be over the moon and I'm really pleased to read that Charlie has settled back into his rightful home so quickly.
Will be looking out for the video later CJ. - 2016-08-03 09:36 Meru
- Wow what and an amazing story with a happy ending. I'm sure the dogs magazines eg. Dogs Today etc (contact Beverley Cuddy on FB) would be interested in this.
Welcome home gorgeous Charlie. Stay safe and close now little sweetie. A big well done to all involved. This site ROCKS! - 2016-08-03 09:34 CJ - Police Liaison & SE Regional Coordinator
- I will get a photo ASAP. Owner is currently out but text to say Charlie settled in well- slept just like he had never been away. She has a video of when Charlie walked through their front door when home after 6 years. She will send to me on facebook as its a large file and will sort out a link so it can be seen on here.

- Such wonderful news. I wish Charlie all the best with his "real" family and hope that it will not be a traumatic experience for him. Poor little thing, one minute he is here and then he is there, but with all the love that this family have for him and have had for him since he went missing, I am sure he willsoon adapt and be spoilt rotten. Looking forward to seeing the reunited photos. xxxxxx

- This is such great news. Its just wonderful that the owners so badly want him back. It must be hard if you've tried to block the loss from your life/taken on another dog.
Well done everyone. Wishing Charlie and Coppa a great future together. - 2016-08-02 15:56 Unknown
- This is just the most wonderful news. I am absolutrly thrilled for the rightful owner. But I do feel so sorry for the couple who had to hand Charlie over. I know how they must be feeling
It will be interesting to find out how Charlie settles in again with his rightful owners after six years. Looking forward to updates. Made my day:-)

- Good idea nickyjm. So many older dogs in rescue desperately need a loving home. The couple were obviously prepared to have an older dog. So hope this all works out ok for all concerned.

- Good news for owners but a shame for the old couple who took her in good faith.
- 2016-08-02 10:25 Bo
- Good to hear the owner is collecting her dog. Less stressful to be collected from a home as well - better than a police station
- 2016-08-02 10:22 Jayne - Founder Doglost.
- Owner cannot wait and is on her way to Manchester to meet the old mans wife...who would not go to the police station with the dog as "too far away" Sharon called me from her car...she expects to be their around 1.30pm and will update us as soon as she has Charlie.

- 2016-08-02 08:49 Karis
- as the couple are willing to hand over Charlie, couldnt the Manchester dog wardens kim or Rachel collect him until a transport run is organised?
- 2016-08-02 08:45 CJ - Police Liaison & SE Regional Coordinator
- The elderly couple who have Charlie are willing to hand over- need to confirm how and when etc and then see if owner is making journey or part journey so may need transport help.
- 2016-08-02 07:51 Unknown
- Yes, I can confirm Laura transports weekly. Hope all works out.
- 2016-08-02 07:38 Bo
- I can help with the transport run - I'm on various transport groups including The ATeam, RBU and a few other groups as a volunteer transporter and have dog crates plus insurance as I do runs every week usually between Liverpool and Oxford OX20 (where I live) - GillyP is a friend and admin on here so can vouch for me - offers there if you need it.
- 2016-08-01 23:47 Doglover
- Praying this all works out and Charlie gets home safely and soon. Xxx If it were my dog I would be on the first train up to Manchester xxxx
- 2016-08-01 22:13 Hollieberry
- One thing puzzles me if the man tried to change details on the chip how did he know that the dog was chipped ? Had he been scanned ?
- 2016-08-01 21:43 CJ - Police Liaison & SE Regional Coordinator
- Doglost with many of our coordinators work with other organisations who offer transport runs.Once we have details that Charlie is to be handed over we could use our contacts- but such transport runs do take time and may be a few days to get organised.
I would not try to speculate any details until get information direct from police or that has been told to owner by police.
- 2016-08-01 21:31 Skywalker99
- However much how they came by him doesn't ring true I would just park that and concentrate on getting him home. I am afraid I live further from Manchester than you so can't help get him back....and personally I would go myself rather than trust someone I had met through a website to help me....only accept help from a ratified Doglost volunteer or someone known to them, you do not want to loose Charlie again. I have probably upset a lot of Doglost helpers with this comment but we need to make sure there is no risk to Charlie getting home.
- 2016-08-01 21:11 Coppa
- Update Charlie is in the hands of a 70 year old couple in Cheetham Hill Manchester. The police have been and ascertained that the couples daughter who incidently lives in London came and gave them the dog a couple of weeks ago and she allegedly came across the dog when some woman in London just gave him to her? This is the bit that doesn't ring true. Manchester police informed me that they cannot seize the dog but that the couple are willing to give him back to me. I know have to wait until tomorrow morning for the police to call and arrange a handover. I know this is a long shot but is there any way I can get help in getting Charlie back to Luton to save me an 8 hour round trip. Don't get me wrong I would drive to Scotland if I have to but just thought I'd ask. I've been so uplifted by all the positive thoughts from this site you are all amazing, I just won't believe it until he is in my arms xx
- 2016-08-01 20:07 Kazzi
- Hi I'm local to Manchester sorry didn't make that clear,if you want me to share i will do xx
- 2016-08-01 20:00 Bo
- I've no idea why someone would knowingly try and register a dog in their name if they had the slightest idea the dog had been stolen. I'm told data protection wouldn't allow the new owner to be given the details of the old owner either? Maybe that's wrong and Data protection only goes to one way? Seems odd.
- 2016-08-01 19:52 Jayne - Founder Doglost.
- Okay rant over...In
the capable hands of CJ and her police contacts
I pinked myself! re last comment! - 2016-08-01 19:48 Jayne - Founder Doglost.
- 2016-08-01 19:39 Bo
- I agree Skywalker - I'm just not into damning people without the facts - stray microchipped dogs have worked their way into rescues after serving their 7 days when their chips haven't been scanned properly.
I hope the dog is fine and the original owner gets their beloved dog back. - 2016-08-01 19:33 Jayne - Founder Doglost.
- Bo...the new "owner" was told the dog was stolen....given contact details of true owner...and has not called.
So Petlog give YOUR details out to a complete stranger...but wont give the owners the details of who has their dog and the owners who have paid up for chipping...they say Data protection!
This is a joke that so many have been through...and together we can change. - 2016-08-01 19:14 Skywalker99
- If you hold on to goods that are stolen when you know they have be you can be charged with handling stolen goods. Since the law gives dogs the same weight as a stolen iPad or phone then now the guy knows Charlie is stolen....he may have bought him in good faith, but that doesn't alter the fact
that Charlie was stolen. However, I think he would be unlikely to be prosecuted in this case....but as he appears to have recently bought Charlie there should be no reason not to give him up to his owner. caveat emptor.Last edited: 2016-08-01 19:16:32 by Skywalker99 - 2016-08-01 19:06 Bo
- The person who is trying to register this dog may have just bought the dog so not sure why he's been accused of being a "criminal" without any evidence stating what's happened - in a court of law this then turns into a civil case. The dog may not be intact anymore either.
Hope it all works out for everyone and especially this poor dog. - 2016-08-01 19:05 Skywalker99
- Couldn't sharing to local sites alert new 'owner' that the police are on their way?

- Bedfordshire police have been great. They have reopened the original case and once owner is home she will text it to me so can add on here and change over to STOLEN. The officer dealing has been in contact with Manchester police and they will be acting for Bedfordshire- The officer at Beds. is on duty all night so will keep an eye on this case .
All owner can now do is wait for police to take the necessary action.
- 2016-08-01 18:19 Coppa

- Just spoke to luton police who have emailed the man's details to Greater Manchester Police. When they get the email they will do the home visit so please can everyone keep everything crossed. Lots of love and thanks for the support its amazing love Sharon xx
- 2016-08-01 17:13 Jayne - Founder Doglost.
- Spoken to owner she has left the office with her 10 year old twins... as petlog said they had been in touch with the police...the info we have is Charlie is in the Manchester area...so we are going to send alerts out to the whole of greater Manchester...probably 4,000 helpers...may we ask that any potential sightings or info is passed back to doglost please to assist ...you can post on this page ..you can call 01633 668364.no one can possibly keep up with the FB pages... But doglost is a database and we can..thank you.
- 2016-08-01 17:08 Skywalker99
- Shouldn't Petlog already know the CRN from when he was stolen...or is that just too logical?
- 2016-08-01 17:04 Campion3
- Wish I wasn't 150 miles away. I would come down to offer support. Keeping everything crossed. This is why we microchip and the hope that a missing pet turns up must keep a lot of people going during difficult times. Stay strong.

- Well done Coppa,. Praying you get your boy home now.
- 2016-08-01 16:56 CJ - Police Liaison & SE Regional Coordinator
- I have sent advice by text . Need to know the CRN when stolen and presume is Bedfordshire police. They should have this on record and as Charlie is stolen goods and therefore proceeds of a crime they must give details to police force dealing.
- 2016-08-01 16:53 Skywalker99
- and make sure when they give the details to the police they do not ring the man and tell him what they have done.....
- 2016-08-01 16:52 Nina

- Omg prayers for you to get you're boy SURLEY police must need to act now X
- 2016-08-01 14:59 Skywalker99
- Sounds to me that if they did tell the man he was stolen they need to update their processes or do some staff training. The most they should say is 'he is registered to another person, we need to check with that person they are happy to change the details'. Unfortunately data protection legislation means they can not tell you the details. Hope the police are being useful.
- 2016-08-01 14:53 Coppa
- OMG to be this close is absolutely killing me. Pet log have been rude arrogant and useless they are protecting the criminal and not the owner, disgraceful. If anyone can help us get him home cos this man bought him a few weeks ago so poor Charlie has probably been passed and sold from pillar to post and being an intact pedigree male he is worth money. Please god bring him home to end his days with the family that love him dearly xx

- Had a phone call 10.30 this morning from a lady at pet log to say that a man from Manchester rang in to register Charlie in his name. Pet log are stalling giving Luton Police and Manchester Police this man's details so I can get Charlie home. They even told the bloke the dog was stolen so have now alerted the man that Charlie is too hot to handle. Is there anyone out there that can help. Over 6 years and I just want to jump in the car get to Manchester and bring my boy home. Any suggestions please I'm sitting here desperate to be this close but so far xx

Do u recognise this dog?
His name is BOO he is approximately 12/14 years old.
Boo was found to be in the most terrible condition, his fur was so matted and he was riddled with fleas and worms.
His teeth are so decayed they are loose and causing him so much pain that he cannot eat.
He is so thin from refusing to eat because he is in so much pain.
His claws were so long the dew claw had grown into his skin causing him pain.
Boo needs an operation on his mouth to remove ALL of his teeth.
He is currently on medication for infection and needs funding from the RSPCA.
We desperately need to find the people responsible for causing this little dog so much pain and suffering.
PLEASE... If u recognise this little dog.. Or u know the previous owner.. Contact us on

- Fingers crossed for this little one's safe return. You have the microchip in your favour - not all dogs have this. One day, hopefully soon, you will get that call. Keep safe sweetie. x

- I'm 'friends' on facebook with Babs off of Heart radio for Luton. Have posted comment to her wall and asked her to do a shout out for this dog. The post has also been copied to quite few peoples profiles so this should help get the word spread. Will keep my eye out whilst I'm walking my dogs. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- Charlie was sighted in a lady’s back garden 5 doors down from us in Crawley Green Road on Saturday evening between 5.15 and 5.30pm. The lady was ill in bed and looked out of her bedroom window and saw Charlie being chased by a smart dressed European man. The only reason he caught him was because her 2 dogs were sniffing Charlie. Charlie was specifically stolen and they were brazen enough to chase him in broad daylight. She describes the man as being of white European appearance, smart jeans, polo shirt and jacket. It means there were at least 2 burgling our house as our next door neighbour?s seen an Asian guy running out of the property with a suitcase just as we pulled up. Any help in the safe return of Charlie would be most appreciated.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- Posters up on bus stops, in shops and anywhere else I can think of and flyers being distributed to all houses in the area. Heart FM are hopefully going to put a shout out about him to. Just want him home, it's bad enough our home being invaded by these callous theives, but to have our beloved family pet taken as well is just too much. Charlie was also my 40th birthday present and I miss him dearly, let's hope with everyone's help I can have him back home in no time at all.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- I am really very, very concerned with all these stolen dogs from burglaries. I am so very sorry to hear that Charlie is not at home with you. Hopefully with his microchip he'll turn up real soon at a vet's and they will check it. Please be sure to contact your chip company and/or Pet Log to let them know he has been stolen. Get the posters up and good luck. You are in my thoughts and prayers. Sending lots and lots of postive energy that Charlie's home real soon.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- I have spoken with owners - Charlie was stolen from his house during a break in last night between 5&6pm. Owners PC was also stolen so the picture of Charlie in box 2 is with his puppy coat - he now looks more like the similar pic we are using. His home is on the Crawley Green Road in Stopsley.
