After having a very long chat with Smoky Joe and Isla's owner she has asked me to switch them over to Rainbow Bridge.
Although they were never found she feels sure that they were both shot by a farmer, this is so very sad but I have to respect the wishes of the owner x

Suggest the opwners make flyeer sna drive down the A14 to Newmarket and hand out flyers in the pubs, and at all the racing yards if poss. Poster there too. also put flyers in all the surrounding villages - Exning etc. There are huge numbers of stable staff in and all around Newmarket, most of whom will be sympathetic, and all can keep an eye out. Which side of Bury did these dogs go missing?Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

There has been no news of Smoky Joe or Isla. The owners have had adverts in local papers including the E.D.P. Norfolk police and dog wardens are now aware of them. Also the owners have had alerts put on local radio stations and radio stations covering several counties.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Have heard back from the owner and sadly not Smoky Joe. Thanks doglover for seaching x. Owners are still working really hard and I have suggested if there are car boot sales close to where they live to hand out loads of flyers at them as these places are really busy. Hopefully we will have some news soon xxxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Have contacted the owner and Smoky Joe went missing with Isla. They both jumped the fence in the garden and were seen the following day but not been seen since. Dog Warden's / local vets and police have been notified. Owner's have been postering locally and I have advised to poster further a field. I will send general information and contact numbers for vets and rescue in Suffolk. Stay safe you two until you are found xxxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thanks looking for lurchers for your sound advise. I have just tried to call the owners, will try again later Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
looking for lurchers
I'm sure one of the co-ordinators will be in touch soon with loads of invaluable advice, but I feel compelled to jump in as we had our 2 lurchers go from Cambs (one looks identical to Smokey Joe!).  One was handed in in Norfolk and the other returned due to an ad in the paper in Cambs.  Poster, poster poster and go a lot further than you think!  Contact the traveller liaison officers for Suffolk, Cambs, Essex and Norfolk - they are really helpful!  Might be worth an ad in the Eastern Daily Press.
Hope they are back home soon!
