Other dog walkers told my gf it was Frankie and he was safe, however, today she met Frankie and the dog walker and it definitely wasn't him as Frankie is more like a Foxhound. We have to assume it is in fact Busby and we've heard nothing further. We haven't seen Busby out for walks recently either. The search continues...Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I'm afraid there's been no news on the lost Beagle and we've not seen him or the other dog walker since. I think it's safe to assume that he found his way home but will still keep our eyes peeled for the next few weeks just in case. If we see him I'll update here accordingly.   ThanksLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

We went out to Dawsholm and took our own Beagle around the entire park today. They've been cutting down about 75% of the trees and scrub so you can see quite far into the woods now but there was no sign of him. Plenty of other dog walkers today including some who tried to catch him yesterday but there's been no sightings of him at all and he would have definitely come out to play if he was still there. One walker believes it may not be Busby but may actually be another Beagle called Frankie and it's quite common for him to be left on his own in the park and have to find his own way home. I'm not sure about this as he responded only to "Busby" but if it is Frankie then chances are he'll be street-wise and find his way home. She's going to try and speak with his owners to see if it's him and if he is safe and hopefully we'll find out if we see her at the park tomorrow.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Well done Graham for staying on the case and being so concerned about this dog. I wonder if he has gone home of his own accord and that is why there are no sightings today.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Quick update; the warden was out this morning but couldn't find him. He'll keep looking and call me if he finds him. Local dog-friendly postman is now on the lookout also. I'm hoping he's found his way home and would be good if the owners would reply on this site so we know. It appears everyone is looking except for the owners but there may be unknown circumstances.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thanks for the poster. I've called the Ranger services this morning and they said they'll get right onto it. There's quite a few local dog walkers who know about it so hopefully they'll keep an eye out for him. We only know the owners by sight and don't have their contact details although I think they are Irish and stay in the Anniesland area. We'll be going back out after work today to see if we can find him. He is friendly and plays with other dogs and barks a lot, especially when playing chase. However, he does become wary and stressed if you try and catch him so I'd advise care to be taken. It was very cold last night but at least it's warm today. I'll call the Ranger later (can't seem to get straight through and have to go through the council number) to see if they've had any luck and will update here accordingly. There's not much I can do during the day as I work but if you see him could you call 0141 287 9700 and select the "Pest" option which should get you to the Ranger services. He should stay and play with your dog so should be easy to keep him close. Thanks GrahamLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I have sent a poster to local Scottish Rescues in case he is picked up and taken there. Nobody knows the owner's name or address so far. Person who is helping to catch him has given his details below. I have spoken to him this morning.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Just a quick update, but I couldn't stop thinking about him so I went back out stocked with meat - if I couldn't catch him then at least I could make sure he'd sleep on a full stomach! I couldn't find him where we last left so checked all the surrounding roads and industrial estate but no luck. Ventured into the park a little on both sides and also checked all the surrounding roads and bushes but nothing. Hopefully he's found somewhere warm to suggle up until morning and if so I'm sure he'll appear on the first sign of a dog walker tomorrow. He's quite tall and muscular for a Beagle so he shouldn't be bothered by any foxes. Will have to leave it up to the Park Ranger tomorrow I'm afraid. Poor thing, it's going to be freezing tonight as well. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

We think it is Busby the Beagle and he's lost in Dawsholm Park.
Lots of us have been trying to catch him but he became stressed and kept withdrawing. Couldn't get him in the car or on a lead. He has a collar and tag but couldn't grab him to read it.
After four hours trying we had to leave him there. Will call Ranger in morning at 8.30am when they open as the SPCA and police wouldn't help.
He seems to be hanging about the old football pitches mainly and stays close to other dogs when they are there. Last place we had to leave him was at the football pitches side - he wandered into a nearby industrial estate so hopefully they may have him as there were people inside.
It's a big red building with loads of pallets just inside the main gates. The company is call Robert Cullen Limited and the logo is Cullen Packaging. Worth trying them just in case.
If you paste this co-ordinate into Google Maps you can see the exact place we had to leave him: 55.897191,-4.309162
Forgot to say, he barks a lot when running around with other dogs!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
