Great news! And you can't help hoping the Bouncy Castle man's castle suddenly keeps developing a few punctures... hahaha
Spindle
Talked to owner again this morning. Maizie seems delighted to be home and a photo is on way to me for the site.
DogLostJayne - Founder Doglost.
Update: Local police may not have been interested but through links formed with Thames Valley intelligence unit ( via local co-ordinators and CJ and Sherlock bones ) THEY ARE INTERESTED...and will be looking into this...too many dogs missing from Thames Valley...we need answers! We need to find the others and we need to make examples of people to stop this heartbreaking crime.
Ros
So pleased you have her back - well done for never giving up - bet someone is in for loads of treats and lots of cuddles! Obviously the bouncy castle man took her - never fails to amaze me how anyone can knowingly inflict this sort of pain and worry on a family and also how little regard the police have for this crime. When our dog went missing I was told it wasn't a crime as it wasn't our property that was taken - well I'd rather they'd have taken anything else I owned but not my dog, she means more than any material item. Still, we are the lucky ones, we got our dogs back. Just wish there were harsher penalties to prevent others going through it.
Michelle
we finally have the answers after talking to the people who looked after maizie for 3 months. They took her in after someone couldn't look after her though a long chain of people maizie was in very bad condition as the people had no money. they were told the dog came from slough and was a stray the man was in slough delivering bouncey castles and took maizie home to rescue her then found out she is to expensive for them hence the pass on.on the day maizie disappeared we where in garden setting up 1st birthday party for my nieces baby's party all very busy, dogs where in garden. the bouncey castle man came put up castle and then left he lives in newbury.well i believe thats where maizie has been for 6 months, or just a coincident ? police not interested they told me you have your dog back.there's not enough evidence to do anything so just enjoy your dog.
lokimccann

I haven't been over your way since my daughter gave up her job in Maidenhead to go to uni, but I've been checking this page regularly for news. Now to take down all those posters, eh? Best feeling in the world though! Give Maizie a big hug from me and enjoy a large glass of wine (or two) tonight. A reunited photo would be great when you come back down to ground xxxx

I picked up a loose dog a few years back wandering fields by the Queens Arms and petrol station on the Windsor/Maidenhead road, he was from Dorney, he had swam the river, he was microchipped, dog warden returned him to his owners who were not aware he was missing! Has Maidenhead/Windsor road and Water Oakley area been checked?
DogLostJayne - Founder Doglost.
WOW! Michelle has just had a call she has been waiting for for over 6 months....A vet in Newbury has just rung to say a couple brought in a Labrador to have her microchipped and it turns out to be MAIZIE! owner is in shock...Vet has "impounded" the dog and refused to give her back to the couple who say they bought her as a stray....Guess Michelle wont have to keep going down Dorney lane anymore!
Michelle
Thanks for looking out for maizie, im allways down dorney lake where im looking out for maizie, scrumpy, and pixie. My husband cycles from dorney to langley along the jubliee river to work and he keeps his eyes open.Im just going to leaflet dorney area again for maizie. pixie's mum
I will keep a look out for Maizie, Pixie went missing from bridge over Jubilee River. 2 miles from Datchet Village. Family out on bikes from Eton to Taplow tomorrow looking for Pixie so will also keep a look out
for Maizie, does she have any features that stand out, say a slight limp from op that would make her more recognisable?
Michelle

Hello, sorry to see that Maizie has not been found...i hope that you do not mind a few suggestions,.Have you tried the Old Windsor branch of Battersea Dogs and Cats home,as possibly that would cover Eton,Dorney,Maidenhead,Slough. Also the Hillindon,Slough,Windsor branch of the RSPCA...another thought, have you tried where she was first sighted behind Dorney School?just in case she is still in the area.......also there is Dogs Trust in Newbury, and also at Harefield,nr Uxbridge..thanks.
Michelle

THANKYOU JOANNE FRANKIEB and STANDARDNUTTYDOG for all your help in looking for MAIZIE. my laptop broke and ive just got it back i will put MAIZIE in the newspapers nextweek i also folllowed up DAISY at battersea thanks for alerting me to that dog.i will poster all local events this weekend.thanks again everybody xx
standardnuttydog
Michelle, is there any more news on your girlie, I am still looking out for her & have told numerous people where I walk to also.I have replaced some posters. Have you put an ad in the local papers.xx
Spindle
Alerted Maizies owner to this now.
FrankieB
I see what you mean, Joanne, about the dog (Daisy) at Battersea Brands Hatch. She does look very similar. Battersea are very good about scanning for microchips but it still worth Maizie's owners going to look at the dog or at least calling Battersea as occasionally (even if ver rarely) chips do slip and are hard to scan.
joanne
There is a dog at Battersea Dogs home, Brands Hatch (named Daisy) listed as an english springer spaniel cross. Worth checking on this..very similar face but not sure on the white markings on chest!
Spindle
Spoke to owner this morning, she managed to talk to fisherman, seems the dog seen was more than likely a male so not her dog. So sad. She is keeping up looking tho she has to be somewhere. Please watch out for her.
Michelle
Barney Ozzie's mum Boveney lock is between Dorney lake and Eton college you can only get to it on foot or boat i think you mean Boulters lock in maidenhead.I have spoke to all boats moored up and fishermen to look out for mazie to night. I'm going to leaflet all the houses in that area tomorrow Eton wick is across the fields from the river we will do them as well tomorrow.
Barney 'n' Ozzie's mum
Forgot to mention that I didn't see your poster on the notice board by Bovey Lock. I will put one up as I pass on Saturday if you can't get over there before then. Also, it might be worth setting up a portable barbecue with some nice smelly sausages in the area of the siting to try and entice her out of hiding. You'll need to keep it all low key so as not to scare her off - and remember no direct eye contact and get down on the ground and either call her gently or make whimpering sounds!! Believe me, it works!!!! Good luck x
Barney 'n' Ozzie's mum
I passed Bovey Lock about 7.45am this morning when I was driving my daughter to work, but didn't see a thing. Is she travelling by road or along the footpaths? Not due to go that way again until Saturday morning, but please ring me Michelle if you need any extra help.
Spindle
Sightin of Maizie between Dorney Lake and Bovney Lock at 7.30 this morning. Walked tried to cath her but couldnt. Owner there now with helpers combing area all around. Styaing to talk to all fisherma in the area. Must be about 7 weeks now since she went, someone, somewhere must be seeing this dogs movements. Please watch out and call immediately. Praying this is not a dog that wanders on a regular basis.

Michelle
HELP NEEDED PLEASE I'm going to a family wedding on Mon 14Th June till sat 3rd July. There is a dog show at HOLME PARK WINDSOR on July 1st till July 4Th id like to poster this event.is there anyone who has spare time on there hands to do this for me i can go there on the 4Th and top them up thanks Michelle.
Michelle
Ive just been and postered Marlow regatta and Maidenhead carnival.the area where maizie has been seen is miles of fields along the River Thames. Best chance of catching maizie is someone spotting her and catching her there and then as its such a vast area. i go up and down the river at dawn and dusk every day always with smelly food and maizies dad who she loves very much and always plays with more than her mum who's to strict with maizie.
DogLostJayne - Founder Doglost.
A helper called today to say there is another black lab that gets out occasionally in this area. Could helper make contact again so we can check sitings are not when other dog has got out as some of the sitings may have been her. Thanks.
Barney 'n' Ozzie's mum
Any news Michelle? I can't ring you at the moment as my phone is down and they aren't coming to look at it until late this afternoon. If you spot Maizie try to be really calm as she might not recognise you straight away and could even leg it the other way! You will need to get as low to the ground as possible and don't look directly at her. Just talk or sing softly and make sure you've got those pilchards or something equally as smelly with you!! You mentioned her being covered in grass seeds - perhaps she's hiding in some tall grass somewhere along the route you mentioned? Another idea is a portable barbecue - cook some sausages and the smell might draw her out... Good luck, Alison x

I am so pleased that there has been some news of Maizie. Hopefully now she will be reunited with you very soon. I have everything crossed for you Michelle. xxx
Barney 'n' Ozzie's mum
Do you think she could have made herself a den in someone's garden, or is it all fields in the area she's been spotted? Perhaps you could add a note to the posters asking people to check their gardens, outhouses, etc?

This is great news Michelle!! Make sure you take some really smelly food like pilchards with you, and leave an item of clothing with your scent on in the area. Will try to get over there myself if I can x

bumped due to sighting yesterday - come on Maizie
Michelle
we had a phone call wed lunch time by a lady moored up at the thames between dorney lake and bovney lock to say maizie was trying to get on her boat aprx 10.30am this morning. maizie was wet after the rain and covered in grass seeds the lady only see the posters after the event she said she could have caught her.this is the 3rd or 4th sighting in this area.have been down there yesterday and today repostered the area and put leaflets through all the doors.im going back at 5am in morning with maizies dad barney and again at dusk every day hoping that we spot her.
Barney 'n' Ozzie's mum
Michelle, are you checking regularly with the rescue centres? You shouldn't assume that they'll notify you if she's handed in as some dogs on this site have unfortuantely "slipped through the net" in the past. Also, are there any local radio stations that you know of which might put out an appeal on air?
Michelle
cannot belive we still havnt heard annything, slowly runnning out of ideas ANY SUGGESTIONS.
standardnuttydog
Michelle, lets hope all that postering will find her.Let me know if you want my help,xx
Michelle
weve done a leaflet drop today every house in eton wick and dorney.ive done car boot last week again it was on monday this week. also done donkey derby last sat.will do all events again this weekend.im waiting to find out if we are allowed to flyer the cars at supermarkets someone told me it may be illegal.THANKS FOR YOUR HELP EVERYONE XXX
Barney 'n' Ozzie's mum
I think we should consider blitzing local supermarket carparks (putting fliers on windscreens). I could do Waitrose at Maidenhead when I drop my daughter off at work this Saturday and also Tesco at Loudwater. Do you think we need to check with them first though?
Barney 'n' Ozzie's mum
Hi Michelle. I'm sorry there's still no news on Maizie. Did you manage to get to the car boot at Taplow and hand out any posters? The fliers would be useful to hand out to people walking along the river bank. I can try to get to the car boot this weekend if you like? Also wondered how we can make people going along the river on boats aware of Maizie? Do you know if there are any local boat yards that we could ask to hand out posters?
Michelle
STANDARDNUTTYDOG thanks for putting the posters up for me.its maizies birthday today and we would ask everyone to keep telling everyone about maizie. she needs her medication for her legs before she starts limping and we need her back home with her family who all love here and misss her so much THANKS EVERYONE
standardnuttydog
Have put posters in Datchet, Saville Gardens/Wheatsheaf I know it is a few miles away, but you never know. Will poster some more later, xx

Have just spoken to Maizie's owner, who has just come out of hospital. Can anyone local help her out with putting up posters? Dog warden has been notified already as well as local vets. Just need to make more people aware and get those sightings coming in. Owner is trying to get article in local paper but just missed deadline for this week due to being in hospital.
Barney 'n' Ozzie's mum
Do we know exactly where along the river she's been spotted? It's a huge area where she's gone missing and she could be hidden up anywhere. Left a message for her owner to call me but heard nothing yet :-(
digbysmum
Come on Maizie, time to come home. Stay safe and keep away from that river xx
Barney 'n' Ozzie's mum
Just got back home from Dorney Reach/Jubilee River. Had a drive around and spoke to a couple of people, but no luck. Bumped into a veterinary nurse from Summerleaze vets just around the corner from here. She didn't know anything about Maizie so I'm wondering if owner has notified local vets? Will try to contact them. Also I only saw one poster on my travels...Last edited: 2010-05-18 17:35:33 by Barney 'n' Ozzie's mum
