This has made my day, absolutely delighted that lovely Greek Wolfie can settle down and get to know his new forever home. Once again giving hope to all those who are still awating the return of their missing dog. Never give up miracles happen every day, especially in well-postered areas!

Really thrilled to hear yesterday that Wolfie is home again! Enjoy your new life Wolfie and maybe there should be a recommendation that all the Greek dogs are under extra security and supervision for the forst few months-they do seem to get out fairly frequently after rehoming......

Wolfie was found this morning in the graveyard at Fordingbridge church. He was found by a vet, Luke, from Pilgrims Vets. Wolfie was nervous, but Luke is experienced at catching dogs and managed to get hold of him. Wolfie is now back home and in a safe and secure kennel, recovering after his travels! Luke checked him over, and although he is very thin, there doesn't appear to be anything wrong with him. As you can imagine, everyone is very relieved and very grateful to Luke. Sue and Grahame would like to say a HUGE thank you to everyone involved in the search for Wolfie. It has been truely amazing how so many people have given their time and energies to looking for Wolfie over the last 3 weeks. Luke was able to identify Wolfie by the poster that had been sent to the Pilgrims vet practice, so getting the word around played a vital part in getting him back.

BUMPED due to possible sighting this morningLast edited: 2010-06-19 12:27:19 by Angus
IainT
There has been a possible sighting of Wolfie in the Moyles Court/Rockford Common area at 11am this morning.
DebbieM
Might it be worth contacting Lyn Williams who runs Happy Dogs Rescue in Kingston Common ( tel: 01425 477670). I am not sure how far she is from you but she and her helpers are always walking their dogs in the Ringwood area.
IainT
Wolfie was seen this morning at 11am by two people on horse back. He was in the Hasley Encolsure area, between Linwood and Ogdens.

More sightings today.Come on Wolfie, give up !!
DebbieM
Iain - had to take one of my dogs to the vet this morning so probably won't be able to make it today. So sorry. Will be around at the weekend if I can help at all though. Hopefully Wolfie will be back home by then.
IainT
Wolfie has be seen twice this morning in the Poulner area. Once near the school in Poulner heading toward Cowpitts Lane at around 6:30am,and then again at around 7:00am in fields off Linford Road near the church. Thanks for the offer of help Debbie. If you can come over today, please call Sue on 01425 474796, 07801 098485 for the latest update.
DebbieM
I live in Salisbury but work from home on Tuesdays and Fridays so happy to join the search tomorrow if that would help. Have three (elderly, non agressive) dogs who can come with me.
IainT
The map has now been updated: www.southerncountiesgsdrescue.co.uk/docs/map13-6-10.pdf He is again in a different area so it's difficult to establish a place for regular feeding. If we can get him feeding somewhere, that would be good news.We have access to a trap if needed thanks.
DogLostAngus
Iain - thanks for the updates - good that he has been spotted and appears well, do you have access to a trap incase ypu need to go down this route - it sounds like you may be able to establish a feeding regime if he is staying close
IainT
Wolfie was sighted going through bins on Morant Road in Poulner at 7am this morning. He was then seen at around 8am in fields close by. By 10am he had moved on, and was in the woods between Linford Road and Cowpitts Lane. There was a team of searchers out within 30 mins, and he was spotted several more times in the area. with the last sighting being at around 12:30pm in the fields between Cowpitts Lane and Highwood Lane, where he disappeared again. 2 people out with dogs said he followed them and was playing with the dogs at around 11:30am to 12:00pm from Highwood down to Cowpitts lane, so it's more likely he will come to other dogs than people. The map hasn't been updated with these sightings yet.Last edited: 2010-06-13 13:48:56 by IainT
IainT
There was a further sighting of Wolfie at 7am this morning on the lane between Tesco at Poulner and In-Excess at Hangersley, which means this morning's report is more probable. People have been out walking around the area and postering throughout the day, but there have been no further glimpses of him.
IainT
All the latest sightings, posters, maps etc. are at www.southerncountiesgsdrescue.co.uk/wolfie.html We are co-ordinating the search for Wolfie who belongs to our next door neighbours. Wolfie may have been spotted this morning in a field near Hangersley but this is not a confirmed sighting.
my boy max
Wolfie has been spotted several times today on Rockford Common between Moyles Court and the Red Shoot pub to the south of the road.
my boy max
hi folly if you can go can you contact allison she will update you on the best place to look he has moved on from rockford common .and last seen at the little chibden bottom area of ibsley common you can see more updates on biggsd site http://s10.zetaboards.com/biggsd/topic/7264154/1/ or on alison site www.southerncountiesgsdrescue
Folly
I would be willing to join a search party on Friday morning. I know the area well and could meet where-ever you suggest (and bring FROLIC!) What is Woolfie like with other dogs? Would he run from them or gain confidence from them and approach them? He could even make it back to Tom's Lane easily from Rockford Common, let's hope he does. Please keep sending your updates to NFDOG who are circulating N.F. members, many of whom walk there. Sandy
DogLostAngus

bumped due to possible sighting yesterday - I cannot post to BigGSD site for some reason (did try :-()Last edited: 2010-06-08 15:26:57 by Angus
Karen@Woofs
Thanks Zoe - I do keep looking on BIGGSD. I will be out again with my dog probably tomorrow on a search. Will go further a field this time. Fingers crossed.
DogLostZoe - Area Volunteer - East Sussex
I have been asked to crosspost this latest sighting (yesterday - Monday) from BIGGSD "We had a suspected sighting of Wolfie this afternoon - not certain - but hopeful! We went to the site at which he might have been sighted but didn't see anything. It is not far from where he was last seen on Thursday - last probably sighting on Rockford Common in the flat basin. If he is up there it is nice terrain, grassy, lots of rabbits and water and plenty of places to hide. I am comforted if he is in that area as he will do well for food and shelter for a while - we will keep and eye on that area now and concentrate our efforts there. We have loads of posters out and some press interest (Forest Journal, Bournemouth Echo, BBC) although the forestry commission are complaining about the number of posters around and have asked that they all be removed by Sunday! Fingers crossed he will be back with us by then anyway! There are also riders and walker looking out for Wolfie on a daily basis."
FLY
Have sent poster and details to RedShoot Brewery and to Rangers. I think if anyone in the area knows any riding stables its worth asking them to take posters and look out as they can go into the forest and see further than walkers. Also (if not done already) print small versions and leave at entrances to dog walk areas so others can put in their pockets. Camping areas too/camp shops, holiday cottages, he could be away from the area by now (10+ miles per day).Wish I was nearer.
Vixtory
don`t know these areas but a gs cross has been found on alfies lost dog site... this is the link: http://www.alfieslostdogs.com/bb/index.php/topic,27724.0.html don`t know if it will be him or not but worth a look!
FLY
Hi - not my geographical area but were all concerend about this lovely boy. Is it in local newspapers/local radio etc Also tracker dog/s.New Forest has rangers I believe. Greek rescue dogs are not usually aggressive but may be very nervy if cornered, if spotted try BBQ/smelly food to entice (only BBQ in areas forest allows!) Try local helicoper places/military etc they may see him on the move during their journeys.Good Luck he is beautiful
dinkydoodle
Not knowing this area at all this maybe in totally the wrong place but please take a look at the attached posting on NPR http://www.nationalpetregister.org/fp/3606.htm I hope you find this chap very soon.
Karen@Woofs
Spent four hours cycling around the area today until my chain snapped, didn't spot him once :( BUT I must say well done to all the people who have been putting up posters -they were everywhere! Come home Wolfie!!!
DogLostAngus
Any news on Wolfie today ?
Karen@Woofs
Never knew that was called Tom's lane...will take posters and owners numbers with me incase we spot him. Read all the posts on BIGGSD, seems like viking is going down this evening and try and trap him, fingers crossed x
yipsey
SORRY I LIVE TOO FAR AWAY TO HELP IN THE SEARCH. FROM EXPERIENCE OF TRACKING A LOST GREEK DOG, HE WILL BE MOVING AROUND THE AREA IN A TRIANGLE.... RETURNING TO THE SPOT WHERE HE MADE HIS ESCAPE. AS THE DAYS PROGRESS THE TRIANGLE WILL GET BIGGER. DO NOT GIVE UP! POSTER SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE AREA AND WORK INWARDS. OUR YIFTAKI COULD COVER 11 MILES OVER NIGHT...SO HE MAY BE DOING THE SAME. SWAMP THE AREA WITH POSTERS.....SENDING POSITIVE THOUGHTS TO YOU ALL. COME ON WOLFIE.....TIME TO STOP RUNNING.
my boy max

Thanks for offer to go and help, might be a good idea to contact owners first to get ideas on how to handle it if you spot him. He is very scared so we don't want him leaving the area. Good luck.
Karen@Woofs
