Had a telephone call yesterday from a gentleman who said that he saw a very thin wippett type dog a couple of weeks ago in his next door neighbours garden in Chinnor Hill. He thinks it might have been Lucy after seeing a poster recently. Have advised to leave food out, try to catch and given Dog Wardens telephone number if dog returns.

My son was walking along a footpath up near the Gold Ball at West Wycombe today and came across a half eaten baby deer :-( As this is not far from where Lucy went missing, I wondered if this is something she could be capable of if she is still out there and having to fend for herself? On another note, it is the Hearing Dogs Christmas Fayre this Saturday and I wondered if it might be an idea to hand out missing posters to people attending? Would this require permission from Hearing Dogs do you think?
Barney 'n' Ozzie's mum
Have any of the local pubs been asked to display posters? I think the one at Lacey Green is called the Black Horse. I'm sure they would oblige.
Mollychops
keeping my fingers crossed X Lets hope Lucy gets to come home soon

I have everything crossed that this Lucy and she is reunited with her owner very soon. This would be truely amazing. xxx

Having spent the night and this morning with my son walking the entire area of Loosley Row, Lacey Green HP27 handing out posters, It is beleived that this is where Lucy has been spotted running around. This is not that far from where Lucy went missing on 5 June 2010 from Hearing Dogs for Deaf People. So far we have still not come across her. Last edited: 2010-11-04 14:47:01 by Majorjed

LindaT
Any news re these last posts? Keeping fingers X`d for a Happy outcome for Lucy, I still keep looking every day I am out, unfortunately I have noticed some of the posters on the Ridgeway Path at Lodge Hill, Bledlow have been taken down...the volunteers look as if they have been clearing and tidying and I think they have removed posters before on this part of the trail!! Also one local landowners` son has removed them from the footpaths crossing his estate...what can you say!?

I would like to thank the Barkshire Bandits Flyball Team for allowing us to display a large banner and distribute leaflets about our missing dog Lucy at The Chiltens show Great Missenden this weekend gone. Your support and kindness is really appreciated.
LovinLabs
Come on Lucy where are you!, saw a poster at chiltern show this weekend, and on my walk up the hills chinnor way there are still lots of posters up, we are keeping the word out there. It's gone quite on here! as anyone seen or heard a thing??.

no worries...I`ve been to Bradenham this morning before 7, and like every other time I`m walking in the area my head and eyes are swivelling 360 degrees all the while...I`m sure everyone else is looking all around on a daily walk down here :)
Majorjed
I am Chloe's dad who Lucy's belongs to. Thank you to everyone in keeping up the search, putting up posters and asking anyone that they see. We really appreciate all the effort in trying to find Lucy. We are so overwhelmed by the response and help from the coordination team (Dog Lost, Valgrays Border Collie Rescue, Bev Dog Warden, P Knall) and Shana Stables. The hospitality of the local people of Princes Risborough, friends and helpers from further afield, we are so lucky to have so many people searching for Lucy. I am confident Lucy will show soon, please carry on looking.
Barney 'n' Ozzie's mum
Thanks Ruth. My mum lives in a road near the top of Haw Lane, so I didn't actually go through the village. Hopefully they are all still in place then. I thought it would be good to have some on telegraph posts along the main road that runs past Hearing Dogs. Maybe there were some and I was just driving too fast to see them :-)
Ruth
Unless they have been taken down today there are loads of posters in Bledlow Ridge itself (mostly on telegraph poles)........ 3 or 4 on Haw lane and quite a few along Chinnor Road going out both ends of the village. There is also one at the school and at the entrances to the public footpaths that people tend to walk down. I have also given flyers out to quite a few of the people who walk their dogs down the hill towards the Hearing Dogs.
Barney 'n' Ozzie's mum
I went up to my mum's at Bledlow Ridge today (just up the hill from Hearing Dogs) but no sign of Lucy I'm afraid, nor did I see any posters - certainly not on the main road or near Hearing Dogs. The area really needs to be saturated with posters to hopefully jog someone's memory. Unfortunately I didn't have any with me and probably won't be up that way again for another week or two......
Spindle
Thank you LindaT, your help is really appreciated. We just need that one break, that one call and her owners will be there. I am sure everyone is aware of her being missing, poster everywhere and owners will not give up on getting this dog back. We are all being positive, we will find Lucy.
LindaT
I walk in this area and the surrounding area every day, twice a day, and I and every other dog walker is aware of Lucy being missing and all say they are keeping a look out, I take my binoculars too. I hope Lucy`s owners are reassured by the knowledge that if she pops up somewhere she will be spotted, dog walkers are out here from 5.45 to 6 am and then until nearly dark, and at all times during the day. I am certain a sighting would not go un-reported. If she is in the area, she will be seen...don`t give up hope, she can`t have evaporated into thin air :)
LovinLabs
We are still doing all we can, I walk the hills all the time, people are still asking about Lucy and talking about her!. Lets hope she turn's up safe and soon. T
DogLostNina
Having made this suggestion many times this it what I would do if heaven forbid my dogs went missing. Hire or buy a megaphone and stand in a busy place in your case I would stand in the centre of Princes Risborough and let everyone know that Lucy is missing. I would hand out missing posters at the same time. I would hope that by doing this the media would get to hear and that it would bring greater publicity.
valgrays border collie rescue
We must not give up, Lucy needs us, the family needs us, i have exhausted all the contacts - i dont know what else to do, but we need to all look, watch, and keep our eyes open, Lucy cannot be hidden forever, i pray she gets out and runs free to safety...look at all dogs, if you think it is Lucy - follow her, take details of vehicles, take note of everything....thankyou...val

Bumped due to the possible sighting posted by LindaT in the message below, fingers crossed for this being Lucy
LindaT
met owner there at 6.30 this morning and checked out area. A man I spoke to Sunday was there again and said a woman was there yesterday (Mon ) morning around 8 am..she was going to speak to the owner of the polo ponies about lack of water in the field next to where dog was spotted ( it has a footpath through it ) and that she didn`t want to go into the field herself as there was a large dog in there...I would presume that no-one was with this dog. By the time this man walked to where she had seen the dog...a matter of 2 or 3 minutes at most...there was no sign of the dog. He didn`t know what type of dog it was and she was in a hurry and didn`t think to tell him.I`ve passed the number for Lucys owner ( at his request) to the farmer who owns the land and asked him to speak to the polo staff...they don`t speak much English...and also spoke to Nat. Trust warden for the area who lives in Bradenham, he is aware of the situation and will keep a watch out if he is out early..he has advised owner to call into polo yard and speak to them as well...its right at Bradenham village, and I`ve passed this onto owner.

Thank you LindaT. All your help is appreciated.

Bearing in mind how early I saw this dog...just before 7a.m. I only saw one other person in distance out with their dog, I did phone through straight away with info. I know valgrays didn`t speak to me until about 3 hours later...the world and his wife are out in that area by then. I am hoping, all being well with my old dog, to be down there by the gate around 6.30am tomorrow ( Tuesday ) with red volvo estate....I will take my binoculars and if I see the same dog I will phone through info, or try and catch the dog. Please bear in mind I have an old dog who can`t cover a lot of ground, nor cover it at speed in this heat. I can only do my best to try and help. If you are there at same time as me I can point out what area the dog was covering and from where I spotted it etc....again I can`t identify breed/colour from the distance I was. It`s a question of "do I phone in this potential sighting or not?" I decided it was worth the call, I`d never forgive myself if it was Lucy and I chose not to bother. I do understand it involves a lot of follow-up hunting around, whistle blowing and potential time-wasting.

Well after getting the call this morning, dog warden and myself took off towards the sighting, after a considerable time blowing whistle's and shouting we saw nothing, met loads of walkers out and they had not seen anything either...we then went and had a nose around some places!!!!! and nothing came to light...all i would think if she is hairing then it may be better to go and view this place early in morning..6 /7 am....where the sighting was, i just wish i was closer but we did do a good day searching and also the family of Lucy were out for hours, we really pray every nite that we get the call, just to have Lucy back thats all we need. Again i cannot thank you all enough you are all amazing with the help you are putting in for Lucy. I appreciate everything and i know the family do as well.
Spindle
Thank you Linda for your help, time and patience on phone today. Everything crossed that this is Lucy, no success as yet today.
LindaT
This dog was dark coloured..too far away to say what colour, running with head down and well forward as it ran...a lot of hares are around in this field. Have e.mailed a friend who walks here every morning, she too will keep a look out, also I will be down there Tuesday very early again, and later in the week...will keep look-out.
canis lupis
The area where Linda saw this black dog is where I walk my dog everyday, so I will keep a lookout.....I have recovered a lost black Lab a few months back.....it escaped from Averingdown farm..which is just across the road from Bradenham..so its possible it was that dog out again.....
Spindle
All notified, thank you Linda. Everything crossed.
LindaT
At 6.50 am today I walked from Bradenham Church towards Princes Risborough on footpaths, at about 7.10 am,looking back in that direction from very top of hill (overlooking Claire Foundation on main road ) saw a large dark coloured dog running very fast from direction of double metal gates (footpath entrance) on main road, diagonally across field where polo ponies are kept, towards trees abutting the next polo field, then the dog ran along fence line and back to main track where it got through fence into open field, was then running around on the track towards the church, I lost sight then and it was too far to get back quickly with my old dog in the heat.I neither heard or saw anyone looking or calling for the dog. I looked all around when going back to car and left info with other dog walkers who were arriving to contact doglost if they spot anything. Drove around the area via Strike Command at Walters Ash, then down Smalldean Lane, all this encircles area, which is mostly National Trust, large woods and open areas. All in space of about an hour. This is just along the road from Hearing dogs, towards Bradenham Village.
Spindle
Thanks you Mollychops, talked to owner. given this information, they are in area today. LindaT can you give us more specific area, or contact head office to get me.

This is just down the road from where Lucy went missing from. Fingers crossed it is Lucy, wish I was nearer to have a look
DogLostJayne - Founder Doglost.
Helper LindaT has spotted a fast moving, large black dog at Bradenham...on its own...have left message for owners and LindaT is asking around in the area to see if anyone else has seen it...too far away for her to be certain of breed.

Also the pub on Towersey Linda, I dont have a printer so cant do any posters sorry, but will keep the word out there
LovinLabs
just going to put that Linda!, I do walk the trail and no the farm around, will get in contact with the farmers.
LindaT
Have printed extra 2 copies to put in Ilmer tomorrow...it`s a tiny hamlet, only a few houses, a dead-end with footpaths around, plus 5 for Phoenix Trail
LindaT
The Phoenix Trail cycle and bridlepath runs near here, from Princes Risborough to Thame...I can put a poster at the Towersey access there tonight and tomorrow morning I will do the access between Longwick and Bledlow...I don`t walk the trail itself but will take extra posters and ask if any cyclists or walkers would poster along the way.
Knally
Apparently there was a possible sighting on the 6th of June in a small village called Ilmer! This is near the Hunt Kennels and has a few footpaths and bridleways - can anyone poster there - I am about to go away and can't do anything. ALSO the railway line from Saunderton runs through Ilmer - It could be she followed the railway line. Please keep contacting Chiltern Rail and British Transport Police etc! Ilmer is also near Macabee Kennels! Are there any people on here who could look at Google Maps and find Ilmer and get helpers to poster all the villages along the railway line between Saunderton and Bicester?

Just to update you on Lucy, bascially we are no further forward in finding Lucy, we do have a couple of leads which are being investigated..the family of Lucy have asked me to send their sincere thanks to you all in this search for Lucy, they do not want you to give up, they are finding it harder and harder to come to terms with her missing and find each day harder to function,we are experiencing many calls and each one is being treated with our full dedication. Lucy must be found...we have reason to believe she is still in and around the area of Princess Risborough. i hope that the people who have Lucy will start to realise that a family is in terrible pain...Chole is not doing very well, she needs her dog back, so if anyone knows where Lucy is please just phone and make this a happy end.

Ive managed to get Lucy's story in Dogs Monthly and Your Dog next editions, so could someone bump Lucy back to the top because of the pending publicity, thanks

Just heard that my daughter's friend's dog went missing from their garden on Saturday (he lives in Loudwater - HP13). We had the car show on The Rye at the weekend and there was a funfair there too! I know it's wrong to assume that "they" are all bad, but does make you wonder, doesn't it? Have advised him to register his dog on here.

Have just heard from a friend of mine that there is an agility comp happening at hearing dogs next weekend. Any good handing out posters there?
valgrays border collie rescue
Well i certainly hope that it comes true and Lucy is found...Lucy needs us - her family need her - they love this dog so much.. we need some light at the end of this dark tunnel....we need something, just a call, just some hope as to where she is...someone knows! please just phone,it is heart breaking to watch this family and Chloe suffer so much. Chloe is only 13 years old she loves her dog - she needs Lucy back. The gypsy/traveller community in the area have been alerted. If she is any of the local camps she will be found.

Thanks for the offer Ruth. Lucy's owner is sending them out all around the area she went from. Will post on here if we need any more help. All avenues being explored, please call if you have any information whatsoever.

I'm happy to spend some time sending posters out by email - if someone could let me know what has been done already.

Anyone available to do some sending out info? Someone who is computer literate with a bit of time on their hands? Please post on here if so.

i've come in very late (well out of my area) and sorry if these things have already been done (I can't see a list of things that have been)but has someone gone through a list, and given or emailed posters to, ALL the shelters, rescues, dog wardens, vets in the area and beyond, postal sorting offices, cab companies, milk and newspaper delivery people, window cleaners etc etc? ie people who come into contact with dogs or who are driving about and might see one straying? They need to have actual physical posters with phone numbers put in their hot little hands so if they see her they bother to ring and not forget by the time they get round to wondering where to find the number.I got some people to put the contact number into their mobile when I was involved in a search and I always put it in mine if I hear of one locally.
canis lupis
Scouted the areas today that I mentioned, no luck nobody has seen her, tried 2 x farms but nobody about but your posters where there....
LovinLabs
That sounds good flyballH!!, get the TV crew down at hearing dogs this weekend!. I understand they have a flyball comp this weekend agility comp weekend after. So at least its a follow up story from the bucks paper ad!!.worth a try
flyballHelen
Just an idea here, but would it be worth trying to get this one on local TV? It might just jog a few memories? So many of us are watching, waiting for that break or bit of news that helps Lucy get back home. Come on girl, the whole flyball world and beyond. wants you home safe.
Barney 'n' Ozzie's mum
One of my work colleagues is going out with a policeman. If she's in today I will ask her to find out from him where we stand with the Hearing Dogs situation and if any pressure can be put on them. Admin - don't you have a good relationship with one of the police forces now (Kent?) Aren't they able to assist with this?
canis lupis
I think its worth considering that if the fair people took the terrier cooco from the west wycombe car boot sale, the same fair people are there every other week and would have seen the posters or heard about the reward and acted accordingly....the fair people from the hearing dog place may well just have moved on and hence havent contacted the owner of Lucy as they havent seen the posters or heard about the reward, which seems to make senses as I am sure they would want the £1000 reward... Anyway I will try another search tomorrow, West Wycombe, Saunderton, Nobles farm, Princess Risbourgh and Wendover.... By the way, if I find the dog I do not want a penny of the reward, I read the article in the Bucks Free Press and I couldn't take a penny from a 13 year old girl.....especially with the bad start in life she has had.....Last edited: 2010-06-17 12:48:57 by Angus

How reliable was the sighting of the dog in Amersham? When I left work today I spotted a black dog on the footpath that runs along the back of Tescos carpark. It had it's back to me and I couldn't make out what breed it was, so I turned the car around to go back and get a better look and saw it was an old black lab. I think the footpath runs parallel to the High Street, but this was at the Station Road end of the footpath.

what makes this so bad is we are so many miles away, i feel so useless, caroline and keith going back up to try and do another search this weekend.....how can a dog just vanish into thin air! oh. the dog in amersham, not seen again...some of the vets i have spoken to in that area, did not know about Lucy, but i have advertised her in Vets Journal and Vet Nurses Mag, that is out to all Vets Nationally. Have just got back, searched woods as mentioned, tried as much as possible to go off usual paths and looked in the dense woods in case she is lying injured somwhere, but the area is far to big for me to cover, had a chat with a farm worker at Cookshall farm near Downley, he will spread the work amongst the other farm workers to keep a look out, then went into Naphill town asked people in the street, shops and pubs and nobody had seen Lucy, told all the people I met about this site and in bucks free press website, gave the phone numbers out as well.....I also asked people in Downley common where lots of people walk their dogs.... My feeling is that as this dog loves people she would have found someone by now as most dogs have a natural instinct to belong to a 'pack'.....I think its likely the fairground people may have taken her, a month or so ago there was a car boot sale just down the road where a small terrier went missing, there were fairground people there as well and most people here are convinced they took the dog......probably to sell on at the next place they go..... As the Hearing Dog Centre won't tell anyone who these fairground people are and where they went next its going to be a difficult lead to follow up on...

In a short while I will be out walking with my dog in the area where Lucy first went missing, we will scout the area for a few hours and try the woods in Bradenham and Naphill and if I get the chance ask the local farmers if they have seen her, there are a lot of pheasant shoots in this area and around this time of year they bring up the young phesants in pens and lay humane traps for foxes (just a trap cage as far as I know)...I know some cats end up in there but doubt its big enough for Lucy, but some dog foxes I have seen are quite big so maybe possible...... I will also ask in the local shops / pubs etc in Naphill..... Will report back later......

I finish work in Princes Risborough at 3pm, so if there are any sightings let me know and I can help for a couple of hours after that if need be. Tori, if you are getting these updates can you keep me posted if there are any sightings during the day. Ruth

Will display posters in the council offices for my colleagues to see, as they are always out and about between offices in the area. Have one displayed in my car and will try to put some up in the old town later in the day. Will also try to pop in to Amersham police station next door to the council offices to see if they have any news.

If anyone can poster the area now there has been a potential sighting that would be fabulous! It could be the "Too hot to handle" approach is working and she has been dumped by whoever had her! Come home Lucy! Px

I work at the council offices in Amersham (new town) and will be there from around 8.15am tomorrow and will pass the word around my colleagues so they'll be loads more people on the look out for her. If anyone would like my mobile no to let me know if there's another sighting, please let me know.

Just spent quite a while in the area looking around fields and woods. have been up and down all the roads in the area. I think if she was still there I would have seen her. I just hope someone else spots her tomorrow so we can track her. My main problem is that I don't know which way she was travelling up the High Street so couldn't aim my search specifically.
Barney 'n' Ozzie's mum
I've just got back home from picking my daughter up from work and could head over there too if needed. I know the police don't get involved with lost and found dogs now, but if they were to have picked her up they will probably have taken her to Green Meadows kennels in the Chalfonts. Expect dog warden'S already aware of that though.

Many thanks you are all being fantastic.

I live in Bledlow Ridge and will print off posters and can target the parents at the school gate tomorrow morning. I won't have time in the morning to do much else but will try and get more posters out later in the day. If you get anymore details on the possible sightings I can have a scout around. She doesn't resemble any dogs that I usually see round here though.

No real news - Only got home about 7pm! BUT we did have a couple of possible sightings last week in the Bledlow Ridge area being walked by a man with sandy coloured hair - but we didn't hear about them until much later in the day so didn't get much chance to scout around and poster. If anyone could print off some posters and really flood that area it would be hugely appreciated. At least there is still some hope! Lots of very tired people with very sore legs.

Hi Essj, Dinkydoodle was at this event(see posting on 6/6/10) doing flyball and ive just emailed her asking if she or any members in her team took pictures. ive also forwarded her pictures taken from Lucy's facebook page which shows pictures of Lucy on the day at the event to see if it jogs any memories. We will also take Lucy's missing poster to Bowood dog show on Sunday to dispaly on Doglost stand.

Is there any way of spreading the word to anyone who was at hearing dogs event to get them to look at the photos they have all taken- maybe just maybe Lucy might be in one of them either with someone or being led away.

valgrays border collie rescue
Had this sent to me today - Marlow Regatta is on this week 12th & 13th June - LOADS of travellers have moved into the area already, particularly linked to the fair that attends. This is only 7 miles away from where Lucy went missing and close to travellers in Booker & Stokenchurch who we believe are linked to at least one other dog theft in the area. An ideal opportunity for one lot to 'offload' to those who will be moving out of the area with the fair on Sunday! I will be over on Sunday to help walk around this event..... Come on Lucy show yourself -
flyballHelen
I'm printing of the poster and taking it along to Southridge this weekend to a flyball comp. Most of us would have been at the flyball comp where Lucy went missing. I live in Luton so if i can help any please let me know. I'm not around much over the weekend and hopefully Lucy will be back where she belongs by then.

Fantastic work going on here - Thanks for all that you are doing Knally - local knowledge is so important in cases like this - is it ok to share your post below on facebook ?
Knally
If people are willing to help Sunday with a co-ordinated poster drop and 'stuff' please call 01883624513 so we have an idea of numbers - we have been offered the use of a large field for parking and 'conference room' type facilities with Tea and Coffee etc - Further details to be confirmed. If we have enough volunteers it would be nice to hand out flyers at supermarkets, pubs, car boots, fetes, fayres etc. If you can't get to the meet - but would be willing to poster your area, or hand out flyers please let us know so we can see what areas are being covered. (Aylesbury/Thame/Chinnor/Booker/Maidenhead/Slough/Buckingham/Luton and further afield). I have been in contact with the press and have an interview with the Bucks Free Press tomorrow - if anyone has any other press contacts - Please Please see what you can do... As you all know - this is not isolated - the situation is a national one and the more the public are aware of what has happened and could happen to them - the better chance we all have of stamping out or reducing dog theft.
Majorjed
There is a substantial cash reward of £1000 for Lucy's safe return to Chloe
Majorjed
Please, please, please could the person that called valgrays yesterday with a little information have the courage to call again with more details regarding what you said. Lucy belongs to a little girl called Chloe who was adopted following a rotten time with her birth parents. Chloe saw Lucy on Valgrays website in December and immediately fell in love with her, constantly begging her adoptive parents to adopt Lucy so that she had her very own dog to care for. Her parents eventually agreed as did Valgrays rescue that Lucy could become Chloe's very own dog and the two have been inseperable ever since. Please, have the courage to let us know if you have any information regarding Lucy's whereabouts as this little girl has already had enough heartache in her short life - Lucy disappeared the day before Chloe's 13th birthday and she has refused to celebrate it until Lucy is back with her. Please help us find Lucy and reunite her with Chloe.

Another linked "theft"??? Skye - Sheltie - 22402 Missing 13/03/10 from HP27 too 'found by someone in HP14... HP14 is cropping up quite a bit isn't it??? Skye was found 2 days after being posted on here... Coco was missing for some time but the owner didn't post on DL until after I contacted her having seen a poster on 6th May and was recovered on the 16th... Very strange! HP27/HP12/HP14 all very close... Google it! What now???

Just a thought - is there any chance she could have been taken by the same people who took Coco (Dog 23257 - Now Reunited HP14) Is it worth contacting Coco's owner to see if she has a mobile number for the people who stole and asked for Ransom for Coco??? I am sorry that there is still no news of Lucy's whereabouts yet. The publicity has been great and word has spread realy quickly. I know everybody realy wants to find her but it maybe a good idea to keep any specific searches quiet untill after they have happened, ie the search of the site today. This website is read by many people and maybe used by the people who may actually know where she is and alerting them to a planned search could give them the opportunity to move her.
