Great work in getting Belly home safe, owners listening to all the advice on what to do when they spotted Belly paid off. It makes you wonder about people who make those sick phone calls to worried owners but as you say ESSJ - Karma will hopefully deliver him a message of his own !

Lovely ending, well done owners for your determination. Welcome home Belly.

So pleased to say that Belly is on her way home. We walked the fields last night and decided to have a bbq and try laying the trap by the old barn near where she had been sighted as it looked an ideal place for her to bed down.We hoped the kippers and smoked bacon would be enough to lure her in.Presumably it worked- it was pretty smelly- when owners went just now to check the trap it was empty but there was a russling close by and on investigation Belly was spotted. Owners did everything right and dropped to the floor and made crying noises and Belly came over. Am over the moon that she is safe and well and on her way home- so much effort has been put in to get her home despite some rather sick telephone calls yesterday to say that Belly was no longer alive. To that man~i hope karma comes and bites you in the rear end! Welcome home Belly xxx

Just had a text for another 3 sightings of Belly this morning. She seems to be staying in a very local area and owners are there now. Fingers crossed she sees and recognises them , owner has had advice on staying calm and what to do if Belly is spotted........Request for helpers not to influx the area just now in case Belly is scared away. Good luck Meg x

Another sighting this evening at appx 6.30pm Owner went straight over and searched for a couple of hours but no sign. Food and clothing relaid. Fingers crossed for some more sightings tomorrow and hopefully Belly will this time see her mum. There are loads of people out looking for Belly, several i spoke to today were coming up in the morning to walk their dogs and keep watch.Every car in Ashridge where the Bridgewater monument stands was flyered today. Just about everyone there was aware of her being missing. ~Posters are doing a good job of getting the word out, the more that go up the better chance of fresh sightings. It was great to meet everyone today- Meg, friends and random helpers & the lovely Tilly ~ Come on Belly, come home~and in the meantime~stay safe x

Hi, forgot to add earlier, It might be a good idea to put more posters up around the woods and also hand them out to all the regular dog walkers as i have been up there all week and hadnt seen a poster, I only found out she was missing through facebook. I will mention her to all the dog owners I normally see every morning. Celia.

Sighting confirmed on Wednesday evening around 7.30 pm in Aldbury- Station Road near to the horse gallops.Owner and helpers extensively postering and will speak to all farmers not already aware in the locality today. Thanks for the support Celia. Please everyone be aware that Belly is quite a fearful dog- the man who sighted her on Wednesday could not get near her. While she is staying in the locality she is fairly safe and we dont want to scare her into moving area.Food placed near to scenting has been taken and scented clothing moved so we are hoping that this is a good sign and she will stay close by.

Hi, I am a dog walker and walk my dogs up Ashridge twice every morning, not far from the monument. I have just come back from being up there but unfortunately didnt see her. I will be up there again around 7am 2moz and I will walk my pack up to the monument. We recently lost our Chocolate Labrador Sarah, and with the help of this site and sticking posters up every where, we found her and got her back after 9 days! She was more fit and healthy than before she went missing! So dont worry about her surviving on her own, I will note your contact number down and take my mobile with me. Good luck. Celia.

I have sent details to Clipperdown Kennels in HP4 and asked them to keep a look out, she may be attracted by the dogs barking as she is used to living in a pack.

Hi sorry to hear Belly is lost - maybe worth calling Jackie Wilson - she is the horse ranger for Ashridge Estate and rides around most days - she is also in contact with all the other National trust rangers who do all the tree surgery and maintenance for the area - if anyone could find her they will - her number is 01442 842716 - I have also alerted all the horse riders i know and we will all keep a look out when we are out riding around there - all the best -Jo xx

Have spoken at length to owner and offered advice. a photo will be uploaded soon to enable posters to be mailed and printed off. Belly has been sighted several times. Owner has done a great job postering and spreading the word- doing all the right things. Have talked through times she is likely to be active- dusk and dawn- both proven by the sightings- having a bbq and scenting and have sent email with this info on too. Will be going to help tomorrow. If anyone is in the area - please take a note of owners telephone number and call her immediately if Belly is sighted as Belly is quite a fearful dog and is unlikely to come to anyone- especially men.

Hi, I’m sorry to hear Belly is missing. Someone will try to make personal contact with you as soon as possible, to offer advice and help. Firstly contact dog wardens, vets and local rescue centres. Give them all a detailed description of your dog with any distinguishing marks/scars. You can find vets in your own area by clicking on the green logo which says “Find Any UK VET”, on the right hand side of the page under the “latest missing dogs” photo - top right. Please email admin@doglost.co.uk with a photo of your dog quoting the dog’s Doglost ID number, or upload a photo yourself on “update details” above. You can also add comments and update the dog’s status, e.g.sightings, re-united etc. by clicking on “add a comment” at the bottom of the page. If your dog is microchipped please let the microchip company know that your dog is missing and at the same time, check that all details held, are up to date. You can obtain a “MISSING” poster from "view poster" above. You can only print posters when you are signed in. Start postering now! I CANNOT EMPHASISE HOW VERY IMPORTANT THIS IS. If your dog is picked up and taken to rescue kennels, it can be re-homed legally, after 7 days if it has no identification (microchip or ID disk attached), so please try to visit rescue centres, to look for your dog. Do not rely on checking by phone alone, as other people may not recognise your dog by your description.
