Emma - So pleased you finally managed to get on here and thanks for updating. Hopefully, now that Annie is out and about with you, we will bump into each other soon. Carole
Little Bear
Hi - It's Emma, Annie's new foster mum (I can't believe our mug shot is on this page!) I've wanted to post an update of how we finally found Annie but what with a nightmare registering on the site (it hates my Mac), work and the very important job of settling her in I'm only now getting time. She's snoring at my feet as I type and is making great progress every day. I've put an update on my blog about how we found her which is http://thelittlebeardogblog.wordpress.com/ Can I just say a huge thank you to everyone who helped spread the word - she's home and safe thanks to all of your efforts! She's even getting a reputation for herself - out walking the other day a lady asked 'It's not THE Annie is ti? The one who was lost?' She's taking it all in her stride though :-)

Fantastic news, I'm really pleased. Mandy

Quick update - Annie is OK - still a little nervous but apparently looking quite chilled on her duvet! Hopefully will get a reunited photo in a few days once she is more settled and relaxed. Stuart & Emma have said they will be making a donation to DL, which I know will be very much appreciated.

magic, team work and posters work again xx

Sorry for the delay in posting. In addition to putting up posters, Emma and Stuart also leafleted many houses asking people to check and monitor their gardens and sheds in case Annie was using them for shelter. This leafleting resulted in the all important telephone call from a lovely lady to say Annie was in her front garden - located only 2 minutes from my house when the temporary four-way traffic lights are not in place! Emma called various people for assistance and, although Annie disappeared again on several occasions, causing great concern and a lot of running around for us all, she eventually settled in the neighbouring back garden. Having discovered her 'escape' route, we somehow managed to block it in the hope of containing her, if she decided to run again! With hindsight, I think at this point she may have decided it was time for her adventure to end but, of course, we didn't know that. With the help of Emma's friend, Sven, from Berkshire Search & Rescue Dogs, a lead and a harness were eventually attached and Annie was safe. Still not wishing to risk the chance of her escaping again, Stuart's car was reversed into the driveway and 'strong' Sven carried Annie from the back garden and placed her securely in the car. Thanks must be given to the wonderful people who allowed us to access their gardens and homes, as well as the farmer who allowed Emma and Stuart to use his land in the search. Most of all, special thanks must go to Margaret, the lovely lady who made that all important first call. Without that, we would still be out searching. I have no doubt that once Annie recovers she will realise that she has landed on all four paws into a wonderful loving home. Emma and Stuart woprked so hard to find her and their hard work was rewarded. It will give me great pleasure to walk around removing posters, some of which have already been taken down. Stay safe Annie and enjoy your new life and I look forward to seeing you soon. Emma and Stuart are extremely grateful for all the help and guidance given to the by DogLost, resulting in DL gaining two new helpers. I will be speaking with Emma later and will post an update.

Have just logged on, couldn't find her page, so looked on the found page. Havn't heard from anyone how she was found yet.. But Yippee, she's been found....
BonBon
Thanks Kate for moving Annie to blue. She is SAFE, sound and home with Emma and Stuart, albeit extremely exhausted. Can't remember a more tense 2 hours. And it all came about from just one phone call. More info tomorrow as have to rush out again now! Enjoy your new life Annie.

I saw a small female Labrador retriever similar to your lost dog at 15:50 Saturday. She seemed very scared but I managed to get close to her. She had a brown collar with round name tag but I could not get that close to her to read it. She ran off into the entrance to Angel Farm, Monks Alley, Binfield. ..............I spoke with Angel Farm a few minutes ago and the dog I spotted is their dog, Soory.Last edited: 2010-08-07 16:33:50 by Meltemipops

Don't worry Paula - I know you would come over if you could. Can't comment on chip but, as detailed below, we no longer have a dog warden. Now contracted out to SK Environmental Services. A very large organisation. will continue later - Emma just phoned so am on my way to poss sighting! Fingers crossed
PaulaK
Sorry havent been able to get over today but should be ok to come tomorrow if she still sint found, sounds like lots of posters up which is great. Hope someone has taken her in and doesnt know who to contact - does the local dog warden (and out of hours dw) know - also do we know which kennels they use for "strays" - maybe worth someone trying to pop along to check? Also as she is newly rehomed whose name is the chip in - and have they checked details are recorded correctly with the chip company?
BonBon
Thanks Suzy but credit for West End Lane area is, I believe, down to Emma and her OH. Recently spoke with Emma and, in addition to trying to register on DL to update, is very busy emailing details out to lots of people. Let's just hope Annie is resting up for a while and will show herself again soon.
MooseMonkeysMum
I was at Larks Hill to Keith's Farm Shop, West End Lane & round back along near 3 legged cross pub... no sign of her - lots of people aware & Carole (& poss others) have put up LOTS of posters... sadly no sign of her... just wondering other than Moor Cottage Vets, have any other vets in the area been informed? If someone has taken her in that might be the first place they would take her to be checked over...?
ML
I so hope that Annie is found soon. Keep up the fantastic work and i'm Sorry i'm not closer to help in the search. Lets hope today brings some news. Stay safe Annie. xxx

Bonny_Lee - sorry you have had no joy this evening. I will do my best to get out again tomorrow. Rest assured she does have access to water - just down from the orchard area. Emma - I left a mesage on your voice mail. Hope you got it. Carole
Bonny_Lee
Just got back from the orchard area of Larks Hill. My oh and I walked with out other dog and used whistle to recall her, without any success. Don't think she can still be around there, as I feel she would have come out to us. Maybe someone in the area has taken her in, as she would be very hungry and thirsty by now. If anyone can use facebook or twitter it around that area please will they please send it to all their friends around that area. Hopefully she will come to light over the week-end, I am at the other end of the phone, and can get there within the hour......
BonBon
That's very kind of you Paula. All help appreciated but let's hope she is found tonight. Will speak with Emma later and update with any news. If no joy tonight, we will have to widen the postering area. I just need some new knees/legs to enable me to do more walking!
PaulaK
Well done all on the ground over there. I may be able to get over tomorrow if she doesnt give herself up tonight. Ive got your number Carole so will ring you if Im going to be able to get over to help
BonBon
Just returned from yet another walk around the Larks Hill area and also Priory Fields. Unfortunately, no success, but other dog walkers are well aware. Met with Emma and her OH who are still out searching. They really are working hard to find this girl. They have also spoken with Mandy Dorman who has given them useful info. If she stays in the Larks Hill area she will at least have plenty of water available and there is also lots of wildlife for food. Only problem is that it is very overgrown in some parts so she could be hiding up somewhere and would not easily be seen.

Thank you so much Carole. You are doing brilliant work to get Annie home. Hopefully she is laying low and will appear when she gets hungry - being a labrador, they like their food.Perhaps her previous owner will draw her out when she hears the voice.
BonBon
Have also taken poster to Moor Cottage Vets. They were already aware but have now put poster on their notice board. It was good to see you today Suzy and also to see Moose looking so well.
BonBon
Back again! Posters now up as follows: by post box on Warfield Street, Both ends of Hedge Lane from Maize Lane and Old Priory Lane; entrances to Priory Fields in Old Priory Lane and Newell Green; Entrances to Larks Hill along Watersplash Lane and Quelm Lane; all dog bins in Larks Hill and various other suitable points in this area. My postman has taken one to put up in sorting office. Having run out of posters yet again, gave DL cards to horseriders who are keeping a look out. They were already aware and are local to Larks Hill. Have spoken to lots of people who were already aware and will keep a look out. Met up with Emma who is spreading the word and thinks there might have been another sighting which she is now following up. Will possibly meet up with her again this afternoon but she will call me if she needs assistance. Good that previous owner is willing to help. Stay safe Annie until you are found. Carole
Bonny_Lee
Annie comes from EPSOM in Surrey. KT18 AREA. This is a fair few miles away, so she is in unknown territory. Am coming over later this afternoon...
MooseMonkeysMum
forgot to ask - where was original owner based? Could she be trying to get to her old home?
MooseMonkeysMum
Just back from walking around Larks Hill with Moose - sadly no sight of Annie - saw lots of posters - well done Carole, hope they do the job!
BonBon
Should have added that there is no dog warden in this area.l All strays etc. are now dealt with by SK Environmental Services.
BonBon
Just back from initial postering. Now printing some more. Possible sighting, although not sure of reliability, at Larks Hill early this morning so hopefully she is staying in the area. Emma is aware of this. Rushed out in order to catch the morning dog walkers I know frequent this part. Managed to hand poster to environmental man emptying dog bins and he will take it back to depot and get some more copied to hand out and will keep eyes peeled. Also saw MooseMonkeysMum who has received poster and was out looking. Word is spreading. Will update poster locations when I next get back. Carole

Have advised Emma to call previous owner as it's highly likely the dog will go to him if called.

Hi Sable - yes, can help and am currently printing posters whilst I type. So pleased there is a photo of Annie now on sight and that her previous owner is willing to help if necessary. Will do whatever I can to help find this lovely girl.

Have given new owner a ring to offer advice about postering, and it seems the dog snapped it's new collar and bolted. previous owner has given his contact details and will come to the area if necessary to help find Annie.Last edited: 2010-08-06 09:43:10 by Sable - Regional Co-ordinator - Scotland

Thanks Carole.Posters are the best way to find this girly. Can you help with that at all?
BonBon
Thanks for putting this girl on so quickly. Have suggested they keep returning to Larks Hill just in case she returns to the area. Have also given info on how to react if they see Annie. If photo can be obtained from rescue it will be emailed through to admin. I'll keep in touch with owner and help in any way I can. Owner will try to register later but I have said any info on sightings etc. can be passed on through me for the time being. Carole

Hi, I’m sorry to hear Annie is missing. Someone will try to make personal contact with you as soon as possible, to offer advice and help. Firstly contact dog wardens, vets and local rescue centres. Give them all a detailed description of your dog with any distinguishing marks/scars. You can find vets in your own area by clicking on the green logo which says “Find Any UK VET”, on the right hand side of the page under the “latest missing dogs” photo - top right. Please email admin@doglost.co.uk with a photo of your dog quoting the dog’s Doglost ID number, or upload a photo yourself on “update details” above. You can also add comments and update the dog’s status, e.g.sightings, re-united etc. by clicking on “add a comment” at the bottom of the page. If your dog is microchipped please let the microchip company know that your dog is missing and at the same time, check that all details held, are up to date. You can obtain a “MISSING” poster from "view poster" above. You can only print posters when you are signed in. Start postering now! I CANNOT EMPHASISE HOW VERY IMPORTANT THIS IS. If your dog is picked up and taken to rescue kennels, it can be re-homed legally, after 7 days if it has no identification (microchip or ID disk attached), so please try to visit rescue centres, to look for your dog, give them a poster and keep in touch with them every few days.. Do not rely on checking by phone alone, as other people may not recognise your dog by your description.
