i've just been to look at alfie's page...any chance it *could* be him? Could one of the coordinators look into it? Only there were lots of problems around the search for alfie. He's ID 11722 (Didn't turn up when I searched for him by name...)

sorry...I haven't been on recently. This is not the missing American eskimo. And American eskimos are *extremely* rare. Far rarer than even Jap Spitzes. The lost Eskie is old (I checked) and this dog is young and male. As I said I circulated the info to GS lists...no interest at all. Oddly poor coat. Looks to me like it has been trimmed (badly! Looks my badly trimmed (by me) German Spitz!)Alfie was/is gold, not white but this dog does look slightly gold coloured. A pity someone who knows both breeds can't get a look at him...it can be very difficult to tell the difference.

Thanks Angus, pleased to hear Snowie is reunited and I hope this found dog is reunited to his family or finds a nice new home.
DogLostAngus
just had a call back from Snowies owners - he was found at 1 am this morning by the police and is now back home # they too are interested in this lad and will call the kennels tomorrow to see about him
DogLostAngus
Just to confirm it is definatly a male dog - thanks doglover I have sent a text to Snowies owners to check out this page - this little one is due for rehome at the weekend so time is of the essence

Could this dog be an American Eskimo breed ?? sorry not familiar with either breed so unsure, but missing since 25 July 10 SNOWIE on K9 SEARCH UK. Chipped but not updated! Similar looking though.

don't know whether this has been checked, but is there any small chance that this may be a female? Looks very much like dog id 23909 the little missing eskimo dog (they look VERY similar to jap spitz) and she also has a skin condition?? I know it says male but these mistakes are sometimes made and it may be worth checking out as this breed of dog are very rarely found as strays! Natalie

Ears have been checked and no tattoo either - so rules out Alfie
DogLostAngus
He has been checked for a chip as he is in the care of the council - the kennels are going to double check his ears for a tattoo - he has a skin complaint which will make this difficult but they are going to have a good look and call me back. To get an idea of his size he is about 12 inces high - about the size of a poodle ?Last edited: 2010-08-13 16:57:55 by Angus

Can this dog not be checked for a microchip. If it is possibly a german spitz, could it be Alfie?

I know no more than is given here but it is so unusual for a Jap Spitz to be found as a stray I assume someone somewhere may be searchingfor him (assuming he really IS a Jap Spitz). Info circulated on various internet lists. May be a white German Spitz I suppose so I havve passed details onto GS lists. His time is up on Sunday when he will put up for rehoming.
