- I printed out a poster on Friday to display at All About Dogs in Norwich. When I got the news that Lily was home I amended the poster to say 'Found - in Sheffield' and put that on display. It was of particular interest to golden owners.

- SO PLEASED, SO GLAD! You are lucky, Lilly's Mum :-) When I have found Gracey, I was told I am a lucky one to have a dog back "in a few days" (18!!) :-) And if you think she was not stolen, it's easier to sleep for me :-)Last edited: 2010-08-21 22:34:03 by marina

- Yhipppeeeee she is home. And most important she is well and happy again. I've taken her to the vets today and she checked out well. I got am email yesterday that is how the people who had her contact me. They said they found her on the missing pet reg. The said they found her on a road far from Addlethorpe when they were on holiday and took her home to look after. Said they had been trying all week to find owners........ I asked them to take her to vets to check chip, so they did. Why hadn't They done this before or contacted the police or dog warden, rescue centres etc. They told me two different days when they found her and a couple of different places. I think they found her in or near our field and took her home because they liked the look of her. They said she barked alot and messed in the house. She doesn't do either very much at home, so I think she barked herself home. I also think the help from everyone on here and everywhere else made her to hot to handle. I had contact Radio stations and papers in the Sheffield, Chesterfield, Leic area and I think they must have put some news out for me. They were happy to take a reward. Marina please don't worry, I'm sorry I wasn't clear, I didn't go alone, I went with my husband, who is very tall and very broad. I didn't expect any trouble as they contacted me. I don't think they set out to steal a puppy, I think they saw her and took a fancy. They didn't go about finding an owner very well, for a start they should never have taken her to Sheffield. I think had they not heard people were looking for her, they would have kept her. I hope they realize what hell they put my family through, buy taking her to Sheffield, if they had handed her into the police or dog warden in this area, we would have had her back, had they left her she would have been home much sooner. But as I said I don't feel they really wanted to give her back when they took her. But I've Lily home, I've given them a £50 reward, all ends are now tied up and I can put it behind us. We have put up extra fencing round our home to be extra safe and she will no longer be able to get in our field. I can not thank every single one of you enough, without your help I fear I wouldn't have Lily her how. Thank you.Last edited: 2010-08-21 13:14:29 by Lily Mum

- So pleased to hear Lily is home. Really hope she is not too traumatised by her ordeal. Flower remedies/homeopathy would be useful for her and her family, after what they've been through.

- Yes, I have sms with THANKS to everybody at DogLost from Lilly's Mum. Ashmark, we put our lines in the same time :-))) IMPORTANT: I think the first advice which DogLost might give to owners is - to be careful when they get a call and not to go alone!! Lilly's Mum went alone to Sheffild to fetch the girl, when she got "a lead". She sent me email, was afraid to display it on sites. I hope she at least told her husband WHERE she went to! If it were criminals? Horrible. I think I put this advice here on the page before, but when she got a call she forgot everything. Thanks God, SHE is safe!!

- Lilly is home and sleeping now. The children too :-) A lot of visits and calls - 0f course! They arrived home only at 8 o'clock. Garley, I guess nobody spotted - people heving the pup called. They said they picked her up because they wanted to help her. Yes, so they all they as I guess, and how to know when it is true! It's interesting which telephone number did they use to call L. owners? If land line - where and how have they found it? Can everybody so easily get everybody's number in this country? And for this they needed to know their real address. Living in Sheffild... How? I think, only by stealing Lilly. If they called mobiles - they saw posters or newspaper. In Sheffild? HOW?
- 2010-08-20 22:32 AlisonH
- Lily's mum didn't get back home till 8pm and had so many call to make, some visitors to attend to and kids to put to bed. She is wanting to spend some time with Lily and relax tonight as she is very tired after all the stress. She will come on site and give us an update as soon as she is able. In the meantime she would like to thank everyone for their support.

- Thank God - I have been worried sick about this one. thank God she has been found. Well done whoever spotted her.
- 2010-08-20 21:43 marina
- Is it not lovely?! 6 days only! As I understood - but I am not good at English trough telephone at all - people having Lilly called to her Mum. As I understood she paid them. As I understood Lilly rescued herself - she barked so much that people got annoyed and decided to get rid of her :-)) How did they got the puppy and what did they tell her, what has happened in reality we can only guess till Lilly Mum will have time and nerve to write. I remember when I got Gracey home I was half switched off and was not able to see the computer. The puppy needs care, the family is over the moon, friends come... But we have what to wait now! :-) I would like to know, how the people learned telephone number of Lilly's owners and which one did they call. Lilly is definitely under the stress, I think. The nose is dry from stress and barking :-(, and subdued she is because of the shock.

- hi lily's mum, i have been checking on lily's page to see if she has been found yet and have just checked out pets4homes etc and found an advertised 8 month old female GR for sale only about 50 minutes away from you...no mention of pedigree or parents or anything so very suspect, will be worth checking out just incase if she was stolen they are now attempting to sell her on. - Hi I emailed you yesterday so you could let me have the flyer. Can only do printing at work and will need them soon to enable me to print.
- 2010-08-20 13:00 marina
- Don't worry that it takes more time, you have done so much, you can wait calls now and do other things metodically without panic.
- 2010-08-20 12:59 marina
- That's fantastic what you have already done. How do you manage all that?! :-) Great idea about copying, thanks for that! I put flyiers even on the front side of the envelopes :-))) I sent in in large ones, didn't want to bend, but I think the normal size and flyers on the back is allright too. Because for large envelope you need another stamps, so you need to go to a post office, to buy it. Normal size if you have normal stamps at home, and bending is ok.

- Hi Ill try get Gracies page up now. Im trying to do every thing, but it all takes alot longer than I would like. I would like to have the country plastered with posters now, but that is impossible. I've been making some huge ones tonight I'll take a photo and put one up online somewhere when I've got all the important stuff done. Tried to do it like that site you mentioned. Ive done letters to go to the vets with my posters and I've got stickers to put on the back of the envelopes as well, so everyone who touches the letters see it as well. Is that what you meant. Going to put all the big posters up tomorrow, run out of ink already though and only got some more today.. Ahhhh think I will copy some of the posters on a colour copier in town. Come on Lily I know your alright, come home to me. XXXXXX

Her page is http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=145434328802217 Her page is full of content, and mine is just a shadow. :-) So, put your Lilly's stuff on the Gracey's page. By the way, I have got a message on her page: This group has been placed inside LAND OF THE FREE, MY DOGS STAY WITH ME!!! End BSL along with over 650 other groups to join. Thank you. With 650 groups to join? It must be pretty wide! (But I don't know what to do with that)Last edited: 2010-08-19 23:13:23 by marina

- Lilly Mum, call to microchip company, your surgery maybe did it already, but ask them the name and check - is your chipnumber registered as a missing dog's?

- You have found Gracey's page, haven't you? Good. You don't have time, but if you could see the beginning of the page, you would be stunned how marvelous people are. The more you communicate, the more confident in people you will be. Now I think this experience was given me so that I get so many nice friends around. New and new people come to greet "famous Gracey"! I still get feed back of my posters and adverts! I don't think you will be arrested :-) I gave to some polismen my fliers, they were very kind. If you only could get some sticks with a pice of plestic or wood on it - to put posters along the roads so that drivers could read it! As American site recommends (have you seen it? Missing Pets Partnership, California. There must be very few of words, but capital letters and a good photo). Last edited: 2010-08-19 23:09:14 by marina

- Whoops couldn't get it to post more so cont on this post. We have phoned all wards on lists given, faxes all vets on list and posted posters to 40-50 more in the wider area. We have posters up on dog bins all along the beach in Skegness and Winthorpe, shops are a bit grumpy round her and won't put them up, but the smaller shops will. Its been on the local radio, not sure about other radios but I have contacted lots to ask. It was in the local paper today, will ask for it to go in next week as well. I've had 4 heart stopping calls about sighting, which have all turned out to be other dogs but at least that shows people are looking out for her. I've got some huge Bright Orange Card and I'm going to make them into huge posters, also going to make some slightly smaller orange ones as well. I've an A3 laminator so will do some that size and I've some clear cover protector to put on the really big ones. I'll probably get arrested for plastering them every where when I am done. I don't care I just want her back. Did travellers have yours then, caravan type travellers do you mean? We have some in Skegness at the minute....... they are a bit scarey though. Going to make her a facebook page just for her. Thank you for all your support. I tried to get on to the site when I was away, but couldn't get my photo internet to work. Will keep you posted. And please give a huge thanks to your hubby as well. There is a lady offering tickets to the show.. XXXXX

- It looks like ages, but I only understood that is only 4 days over. It's not a lot at all. Increadible hard, but all hopes are here. As I think, the posters now are the most important: for these (hm-hm) lovely people :-) like me who don't read newspapers :-(. And repeat advertising in newspaper in a couple of days. Don't let people to forget you and your baby dog, remain them, let them discuss you and your lost. I am thinking now about my story and I see that only a happy coincidence, that two people discussed us, helped us: one saw a new dog by neighbours in the remote village, another one read all 5 adverts in newspapers and saw my posters around in Norwich. So, information met. As I can see, you live in a small place. But people from such places come to the towns, they see and they remember. Petrol stations in your case are important. My husband put your posters in Boston and today they will be in Scarborough. You most probably work and you have small children, so you are very busy. But try to put as much posters as you can in your area. Orange paper would be wonderfull. Maybe if you can't find it, wrapping paper of red colour, red paper table cloth are easier to find, and they are cheap. All bright colours actually will do. When people see your efforts, they sympathise, they talk about you at home, with children, in pubs, in offices - so was with me and Gracey. I still hear from unknown people: "We were walking and checking every garden for you". "I send emails to all my colleagues, and they were so glad for Gracey, I have happy replies!" "We took off your poster from the wall, because people come and tell us, you found her." As many (noticable) posters you can put, as many chances to get the little girl you have - it's my feeling. Some of posters will be destroyed by odd people, never mind, do renew them. Some people like to have posters with. Keep going and take care, and good luck for you.
- 2010-08-17 21:38 marina
- Can your husband or friends check for you, Lilly Mum, internet sites like Pets4home.com and gumtree.com? The sites which you can find "Puppies for sale" etc. Lilly might be advertised there for sale. What I think: even with wrong picture and slightly wrong age. Or as a labrador, people often confuse them. But advert must be as such: 1 pup, nothing said about possibility to see mother and father, and something like that: "Because of circumstances we have to re-home our dog...Due to divorce we cannot keep it any more..." - So, still no news? I am trying to undestand: why they steal puppies? To sell? It's not so easy as I understand. On the site pets4home.com is plenty of GR pups, and some of them are already 3 months old, overgrown, I can imagine disappointment of breeders. And that are legal, registered pups with certificates etc. Who will buy 5 months old puppy with no papers and a risk of microchip? It must be very cheap. Better to sell it back to the owners. What about travellers in your area, Lilly Mum? I've found mine by the former travellers in an hour from our city. But mine was not stolen. They just decided to keep it, sure, for breeding.Last edited: 2010-08-17 21:39:31 by marina

- Hello, Lilly's Mum. I was told today, that thifes usually come back for reward. They make their living this way. So, you have a very good chance to get the little girl back. We are printing out your poster. Please, tell me - I am getting obsessed - how exactly it's happened? I am scared to leave Gracey for a second in the garden even if I am working in the kitchen and look at her. Did they still Lilly when you were at home? Or you left the puppy in the garden when you were out? I need to know, do they do it even if owners are at home??

Thanks for the tip about the dog show, I donn't know if anyone is going, but would be happy to send anyone a stack of posters if so. - Sorry to hear that Lily's missing. Agree about newspaper ad, it certainly has brought dogs home in my area. There is a dog show in Norwich this coming weekend. If Lily's not home by then it may be worth one of your helpers visiting the show with lots of flyers as visitors to the show, I expect, will come from a reasonable distance. It's All About Dogs at Norwich Showground. But of course we all hope she's home long before then.

I've just done a load of posters and writen in Mark pen large reward in the gap in the bottom. Also highlighted the words, Cream, Golden Retriever and puppy with a red line underneath so they stand out. I miss her so much and so do my kids and hubby. Thanks again.

- Husband says he will go to Boston on Tuesday and could put some posters in Boston. We just need the line with your reward on it. Really I think more and more: if you can afford a huge reward, bigger than the thieves can get otherwise, they just will be extremely silly not to sell it to you back. All what we need is just to tell them about that. :-) I wish them to suffer from the pain like yours the rest of their bloody lives.Last edited: 2010-08-15 23:33:28 by marina

- Lilly Mum, you will have a list of vets surgeries and a list of kennels and rescues. Print it out in two copies. I was advised not to email to them, because they often have no time even to print out emails, and often even do not have fasilities. Fax is much better. Tick this addresses where there is fax and give this copy to yuor husband to fax it. Second one will be for sending letters through the post. I did it such way: big envelopes and near the address a clued a small flyer. So, a lot of postmen will see it, and they walk a lot and see a lot. Then you cross addresses where fax went through or letter sent to. And the job is slowly (or quickly) done. Write on the back on envelope: PLEASE DISPLAY IT! (because my vets didn't, for example)

- The thievs may sell you your puppy back for a huge reward. Just saying: we have found her on the street...Do not go alone for such meeting.Last edited: 2010-08-15 22:49:07 by marina

- I looked at the poster which is done for you, here, on your page, and there is no words about huge reward, but I think they must be, and must be HUGE :-)Dog lover will help you for free, but other people will be very attentive for money. So, I don't print it out yet.

- How far away from you is Scarborough? My husband works there a couple of days a week and he can put some posters.

- Have always with you Lilly's passport with chip number, a collar and a lead. I always had ready a reward in cash, but maybe in's not necessary. WHEN YOU HAVE A SIGNALL, DON'T GO ALONE AND WITHOUT POLICE. In case of theft (have a criminal record in her pasport) police helps to get a dog back. It was promised to me and it was done. Story of Gracey is here on the page REUNITED, there is a lot of good advices there, but you don't time to read 240 posts :-) Maybe, just for inspiration.

- Than take a big copy book and make a list of deeds. Copy advices from here and from sites. It would really help, I was so haotic. And it's help to fight panic. Only when you will metodically plan and make your plan happen, you will be free from panic and feel a little less pain. As soon as you know that your puppy has not escaped - you know it's not (maybe) dying in debris or under a car, if it's stolen - she is at least with people in shelter and gets food and water. Now I think I would prefer such situation, theft. But my puppy run away in panic and everything was possibly for us. So, when you are free from this version, you don't need to check every bush and lake around and you can concentrate on advertising and do postering metodically. (If I am not right, I hope, I will be corrected by more experienced members). Let your family help you as much as every one can. How old are your children? Even if they just cut flyers for you, it will be good. Admins of DogLost I am sure did send you posters and flyers or they will soon do it. Flyers are small, 4 on one page and need to be cut, let them do it. You will give it to people, so that they have your number always, mostly dog owners, taxi and bus drivers (loveliest people was for me!), and they will put in in the salon. Playfields are good for posters and especially pubs, and pub owners are nice people. A lot of talking is going there. Everywhere, where people are relaxed and have time to read, to think, to discuss - like parks, are fine.

- Dear Lilly Mum, I am sure you will. And I am sure you will find her. When you check your garden and will know exactly there is no holes, you will know the way how your dog has escaped: run away or stolen. Honestly, I don't believe that female dog would run such a way, especially GR, especially puppy. For me it's unbelievable. But check it anyway. Go to your puppy's level, from your height you will not notice the hole.

- Hi Thank you for all your comments, help advise. I am really pleased with all the support, it is brilliant thank you. I will do all I can to find her and bring her home. You help will really help me do so. If any one knows any one in Yorkshire, Derbyshire, Leic areas who could put up posters that would help such a lot. I'm going to plaster this area and every where else I can get. Thank you. It was very comforting to read about Gracie, I hope we are so lucky. I will offer a huge reward. - a fantastic internet site, I would start their orange fluorescent huge posters for drivers straight away. It's so clever! Everybody drives and information goes far away. http://www.missingpetpartnership.org/ POSTERS THERE: http://www.missingpetpartnership.org/recovery-posters.php I just don't know where to find this sheets of orange luminiscent paper... Art shop? Stationery?

- Did you check your fences in the garden - isn't there any holes in? Any chance for her to run away? Because if she run away herself, I think, first mostly debries etc. must be checked. If not and she definitely was stolen, advertising and posters first.Last edited: 2010-08-15 18:51:40 by marina

- OMG, I feel for you. I know what you feel exactly. Please make ADVERTISING in your main local newspaper, maybe you can afford a part of front page. I found recently my 4-month old golden retriever thanks to newspaper advertising and posters. The thiefs can not keep your dog in the house, especially puppy - it needs toilet. So, neighbours will see your dog, and because of promised reward (do promise reward in your posters and ads!) or just because of love for dogs and hatred to thieves they will tell you, where the dog is. Just make a hundred of COLORED posters, which are noticeable and attractive, or people will pass by. You can print it out in any photo service. Make your puppy famous by your posters and advertising! I found my GR this way, thanks for DogLost advices. Advertising is expensive, but I took money from overdraft, it was 5 ads (for £1000) Front page is very efficient. But do hurry because first I was told the fisrt page is sold for months - MONTHS! - in advance! (But suddenly they found a place for us) There is such an issue as Advertiser here, in Norwich - it's free and every week is in everyone's post hole or on the floor under the entrance door. So, the LAST page is the same good, because even people who do not read will notice. I was offered THE WHOLE last page for £600 and was taken aback, not having such money. But they do handle! Do not hesitate, they reduce price, if you sound lost (I did it by phone too). They offered me the same whole last page for £420. I regreted that I didn't agree straiht away because her colleauge sold the place in the next moment. ONLY BECAUSE MANY PEOPLE KNEW ABOUT GRACEY WE FOUND HER.It took 18 days. Don't get desperate if you wont find her in two-three days, prepare yourself for marafon, posters make miracle! Buy a proper sticky tape, the best from the B@Q, silver or white, because clear tape is not good enough. Silver and white strong tape fix the poster even on bricks walls (and this is the best place - poster is more noticeable on the empty boring space then between other advertisement! Fix them properly, other way wind will tear it off in a day. Put it first in clear plastic file (buy a hundred of them) against rain. Put them by the entrance of every supermarket where everybody buys food, by the rail and bus station, main hospital, cinemas, petrol stations, parking places and places where people walk dogs. Shops are not happy to have it on the glass windows and doors, but you can do it on the brick walls and a manager will put your poster inside the supermarket, if you ask them for help. Dogs owners are your best hope, they are simpathetic and attentive. Maybe you even wont pay your reward. In my case people were extraordinarly kind for us, your case is the same - very noticeable and sweet puppy, people will help as they can. Stay safe, dear Lilly, good luck for you all! - So hope this little girl is found soon. This first couple of days is crucial. If Lily's mom and dad don't pick up her scent see if the local gundog club will come out with handlers and dogs in a line. (Or you may even have a sniffer dog in the area?) I am assuming it is a rural area from what has been written. But it needs to be quick if using scent. Advertising generally brings them back if they are stolen. If not the thief deciding to take a reward, then hopefully someone else will spot her and do the right thing. Poster, poster, poster, leaflet drop, e mail and get in newspapers and magazines. Have to make Lily too hot to handle. Sorry I am too far away to be help 'on the ground' Plot where you have searched on Google earth if possible. I couldn't find her F/B page. Angus has e mailed from Gracey's group with a link to here but we could also link to F/B and twitter if we have the link. Hope Lily is home really soon x

- I have just been talking to the owner. This little girl went missing between 5 and 5:15 yesterday tea time. Owner is convinced that she has been stolen and is doing all she can to find her. She has already got her on Facebook but not Twitter. Can someone please do that for her as I haven't a clue how. All the local neighbouring farmers are aware she has gone missing and have been out searching and this evening Lilly's mum and dad are being brought over to try and pick up a scent just in case she is lying injured somewhere. Radio stations, dog wardens, rescue centres and several police forces have been notified. I have stressed the importance of mking her TOO HOT TO HANDLE. Owner is going to send poster to vets as most of them don't have email addresses.
