  • Other Info I have seen this dog for the past few days, early evening, around the footpaths at South Cerney. It is a male black labrador with a damaged hind leg (it carries this without putting weight on it). It is quite thin and looks as though it is 'running free'. The dog will allow you to get about 20 metres away and then barks whilst running away. I have tried throwing biscuits to it but I think he is very nervous.

If sighted and there are still concerns about Timmys welfare can the Cotswold council be notified as soon as & call the RSPCA , they need to be informed for Timmys sake, please. Another post on here for Timmy is ID 34227Last edited: 2012-03-04 22:15:47 by Reynard

On the news 24 this morning they were on about compulsary chipping , so that may be a step forward, as every puppy would have to be chipped so there is a cost involved and if found without a chip they would also be fined ,,,,BUT there needs to be measures to Police it!
dewilliams42
YES REYNARD I AGREE WITH THE LICENCE TOO-IT WOULD MAKE PEOPLE THINK TWICE WHETHER THEY REALLY WANT OR ARE ABLE TO HAVE A DOG AND LOOK AFTER IT PROPERLY. ALSO THERE SHOULD BE STRICTER LAWS ON BREEDING-THERE ARE FAR TOO MANY DOGS BEING BRED ESP. STAFFIES AND FOR EVERYONE BORN THERE ARE HUNDREDS JUST PAST THE PUPPY STAGE WHOSE OWNERS DECIDE THEY DONT WANT THEM ANYMORE AND JUST THROW THEM OUT TO DIE-USUALLY LOVELY FRIENDLY DOGS WHOSE ONLY CRIME WAS TO BE BORN. ITS A HARD HEARTBREAKING WORLD WE LIVE IN.
dinkydoodle
well done mollychops and reynard for looking out for Timmy and discovering his whereabouts and making sure he is ok.x.
lf2000
Something needs to be done thats for sure... I think all breeders should have a license and if found not to its an offence.. As for anything else its hard to kep tabs on but punishments should be harsher!
DogLostReynard
Good point dewilliams42 but two wrongs dont make a right good dog ownership should be encourage OR if that fails (BOY HAS IT FAILED IN MANY CASES) bring back the dog licence but has the goverment got a care for it ,,,have they hell!Last edited: 2011-04-25 19:58:33 by Reynard

TIMMY IS PROBABLY A HAPPY DOG DOING HIS OWN THING WHICH IS MORE THAN CAN BE SAID FOR ALL THOSE POOR DOGS, STAFFIES AND OTHER BREEDS WHOSE OWNERS TIRE OF THEM AND DUMP THEM ON THE STREETS WITH NO REGARD TO WHAT WILL HAPPEN TO THEM. IT IS JUST SO HEARTBREAKING.
lf2000
Well all have to live and learn i suppose... If your happy then were happy :)
DogLostReynard
Its lovely to think there are caring loving owners such as we have here xxx Mollychops and I were talking about this and although we may be a bit OTT with our Dogs lots of dogs are like Timmy and worse ! All we can say is he has a home seems happy has a very shiny coat, just hope he had Vet attention at the time (however it seems they lost another dog to this road) BUT he could have been PTS with that bad break but the owners kepted him going so thats a big plus in my book .:)
Mollychops
I am going to report this tomorow, Jo Badger the railway is long disused btw. He is wandering in a very rural safe area. I know that doesnt make it any better though :[Last edited: 2011-04-25 15:14:20 by Mollychops
lf2000
Glad its been reported.. Even though he goes home to a house he shouldnt be left to roam and the leg should be looked at - think of the pain he is gonna suffer in later yrs!
dewilliams42
thanks reynard.i think everyone had been concerned thinking of him out in the cold winter we had when all along he was in the warm enjoying a christmas dinner!!
Mollychops
He is a full dog too , hence the roaming. Re the back leg, it didnt stop him jumping up at my car. He could obviously smell my lovely girls !I do think he is cared for , just that he comes and goes when he pleases
jobadger
Thanks to Mollychops and Reynard for their detective work on this boy. Looking at my little bundle of happiness curled up on her blankets, I too hope that he goes home to food and a warm bed. Can't say I'm not still concerned for his welfare tho' - especially his hind leg - and his access to the railway. Jo xx
Shereen
Well done Reynard and Mollychops,I often think of this Lad,I realy hope he stays safe.XXX
DogLostReynard
As Mollychops says he does have a home , Timmy was quite friendly in fact a lovely boy, his leg looks awful so was a bad break but seems well adjusted to it & managed to jump up and look into Mollychops Van LOL! Yes I checked & he had a bowlful of food and water in the Conservatory .I think this boy is used to looking after him self and will wonder off when no one is around.
We will be letting the Animal Welfare Officer know by the way.Last edited: 2011-04-25 14:20:30 by Reynard

thank you so much for letting us know and taking so much time and so much concern to find out his circumstances. he obviously likes to wander and maybe is quite safe where he does wander. but i do hope he goes home to a warm bed and meal at the end of the day. he hopefully and probably is a well loved boy.thanks again for giving up your bank holiday to find out about him.shame about his leg but it does'nt seem to stop him exploring!!
Mollychops
Me and Reynard found the labs home this morning [eventually!} We saw him on the drive as we drove in. Owners were away and we spoke to their son. I explained that there had been many sightings of him between his house and South Cerney, on the public footpaths and on the disused railway, and Id spent hours postering trying to find him as we all thought he was a stray that had been dumped. We were told he does wander about. Owners have fields which run down to the edge of South Cerney. The broken back leg is not great but he looks well is cared for. we were told he got hit on the busy Swindon road, outside his house and he hasnt been back there to the road since ! At least his wandering is contained to the safe areas near the village. Now I know where he lives , Im going to reuinite him. Im sad though for him
dewilliams42
HI, JUST WONDERED WHAT YOUR PLANS ARE REGARDING THIS POOR DOG. JUST HOPE HE IS LOVED AND CARED FOR DESPITE HIS ROAMING AND BAD LEG.
dinkydoodle
Great detective work Mollychops and Reynard. Perhaps a visit from the local DW also?! Think this chap needs a bit more TLC than he appears to have been getting.
dewilliams42
thanks for the update. looks like this boy has been left to do what he likes-poor boy. not much of a home life. it will be interesting to know what the problem is with his leg. not much fun having to fend for yourself.
Mollychops
Clever Reynard has had a phone call , we know now where this boy lives , and we will be paying them a visit !
dewilliams42
hopefully good news. be interesting to learn more about this lad and why he has been so elusive.
Mollychops
Reynard has left a message, saying she has some news, I wil post when I know more, in the meantime bumping
dewilliams42
ANY FURTHER NEWS?
DogLostReynard
Have postered & handed out flyers in the lane that have had sightings of this boy, so hope someone comes forward with some information .
dewilliams42
yes perhaps he might have a base as surely he would'nt have survived the winter we had. will watch the posts to see what news you get at the weekend, good luck.
Mollychops
Ive just spoke to a friend who lives in SCerney. The village isvery aware of this dog now. It is still scared of people, still very lame behind, and still in the same area, as last year. She thinks he might belong to someone locally, and is let out to do his own thing, He must be being fed by someone, as there is no way he would have survvived the bad weather. Im going over at the weekend with Reynard to poster some more and ask around
DogLostReynard
This is good news another sighting & very good news he is looking well! Hope we can find this boy x

Oiga, Chedworth is about 13 miles away so doutful as the sightings have been around South Cerney each time,,, perhaps you could give us the detais of 'your' black lab?Last edited: 2011-03-28 20:48:07 by Reynard
Mollychops
There has been another sighting of this boy in the last couple of days. HE is looking very well and shiny but still lame. Maybe someone is feeding him. I will contact the village news letter to put him in and see what this brings will also go on Sunday and re poster
Oiga
Is this the sighting in chedworth also ?
dewilliams42

dewilliams42

Mollychops
wasnt able to poster till today as Ive been getting over Flu and what with work, both ends of the day dark. Ive put about 10 posters around the areas this boy has been sighted in. Lets hopes this helps
dewilliams42
any more news on this one? he's done well to survive so far so lets hope he is caught soon.
DogLostReynard
Fantastic he has survied all this bad weather , hope we can catch him now wont be easy as he is a survivor but lets hope he is ready now to give him self up!
dinkydoodle
Go get him Mollychops! Great this lad has shown himself again, he must be totally exhausted by now. Please give yourself up.x.
dewilliams42
i am so glad he has been spotted again. i have been thinking about him a lot. do so hope you will be able to catch him.
Mollychops
Bumped due to positive sighting this morning. I cant believe this boy has survived the awful weather. We need to try and get him now. I will call the people who were doing a feeding station for him
dewilliams42
ANY FURTHER NEWS ON THIS BOY-THE WEATHER IS GETTING TOO WET AND COLD FOR HIM TO BE WANDERING. ANY FURTHER IDEAS?
dewilliams42
any further sightings of this poor boy? could not a search party be organised as perhaps he is too weak to wander through lack of food and his bad leg.
DogLostReynard
Thanks to a helper doing some brilliant investigative work we now know the dog seen at Oaksey was not the one we thought was missing called Cosimo as he was found. So this poor dog we still have no idea who the owner is but very likley still to be the one that was straying in Oaksey ( hope you are following this?) what I think would help now is if this poster could be put up in this area S Cerney, Cirencester, & surrounding villages and where we think he was first sighted at Oaksey to see if we can find the owner and for anyone to ring in with sightings of this poor boy before its too late for him as he appears to have a broken leg :(Last edited: 2010-09-02 22:17:14 by Reynard

Hi Raynard, I have re emailed (only way of contact) owners of lost dog on NPR again asking them to contact doglost or advise if there dog has been found, I also have a feeling it could be this missing dog.
DogLostReynard
Could this be the same Dog that was sighted at Oaksey SN10 10/07/10 ID24276, owner never contacted us but we could try again ?Last edited: 2010-08-31 21:18:46 by Reynard

Good luck on catching this poor boy, I do hope he is OK and you see him soon, well done all of you for looking out for him.
ML
I so hope ou find this poor boy. Good luck. xxx
Mollychops
Thankyou fly he has not been seen for a few days, so Im quite worried for his safety
Fly
Wish you luck catching this poor boy, would suggest smelly food like sardines in the 'trap' or boneless chicken, if he sees you to lie down or pretend to ignore.
Mollychops
A lovely lady from Dogs trust locally has offered to help here. She will be bringing a trap when we get some more sightings.A feeding station is being set up where this boy has been sighted. Thanks Chris and Clare who are going to moniter this. There has been no sightings for a while. i walked all around the area today speaking to local dog walkers etc but no news. Posters are stll up. Lets hope we get some news soon.Last edited: 2010-08-30 14:07:11 by Mollychops
dinkydoodle
well done mollychops, hope a routine can be established - and you see him and can take a pic as you know who we would love him to be.x.
Mollychops
I didnt see any sign of the dog. I did meet a lady who says lots of people have tried to catch him and cant get anywhere near. A feeding station would be good. Iwe worked out where I think the area is he is staying in. I will go back tonight, with some food. If he does atart feeding there , eventually a trap will be the only option, But this guy needs to be caught or he will die eventually out there
Mollychops
off out now to have a look.
labradorloopy
Is there anyway a feeding station could be set up for this poor dog?
Goldenfrodo
Had a phone call from someone who'se just seen this poor lad. No collar on and looks in a bad way. Wouldnt come to him and headed off towards the old station railway and canal.
Mollychops
Ive postered lots in the area over the last few day, he has not been seen for a while I hope he is OK
Mollychops
been out tonight, no sign, I took a pack of sausages with me , but they will keep, ans I will go back again tomorrow. Ive uploaded a pic of a similar dog. Will get loads printed off tomorrow, and distribute. We must get this boy to safety. He was seen by my frinds son first a month ago!! Then he was wearing a RED collar apparantly. Now he doesnt have one on
ML
I was thinking the same as you Dinkydoodle. wouldn't it be fantastic if this was Simon!!
Mollychops
I will go and see if I can see the dog after work tonight and take my cameraLast edited: 2010-08-17 07:44:16 by Mollychops
