- WOO HOO DUCHESS HAS BEEN FOUND!!
No sightings at all in the 2 weeks that she has been missing and tonight Duchess's owner had a call.. Duchess was spotted under some hedgerows in a ladies back garden this afternoon.. she allowed the lady to get her out and to safety so she must be so tired, she has literally turned herself in!
The dog warden collected her and has wrapped her up in a blanket and is keeping her warm at her house for the night. Duchess's owner can collect her tomorrow morning..
She is apparently very thin and cold, she must have been really hungry by now :( so pleased that she was found before the fireworks started!! she is a nervous girl..
Will look forward to officially moving her into the BLUE tomorrow morning when she has been collected and taken home to her own bed.. Adele xx - 2010-10-19 21:00 Rileys Mum
- Is there anybody in this area who could help with postering and/or searches please? The owner is very new to the area (36 hours) and knows nobody so is kind of alone with this... if there is anybody who could help in any way at all we would be really really grateful :) thank you. x

- Just had a call from Duchess's owner... they have just moved and today her owners mum opened the front door and Duchess shot out through the door and off across the car park.
Owner followed her but she just kept running.
Last seen in the park at the bottom of St Peters Road about 50 mins ago.
Park has lots of cover in it so she could hide out in there safely.
Gone missing from The Castle Hotel, Worcester Road, Droitwich WR9 area.
Duchess is still a nervous dog and should not be chased as she will bolt..

- e mail from owner: Hi Jane and team, I can't thank you enough for your help in reuniting me with my basset. The only reason I got her back so quicky was because of the posters and flyers that I was sent. Duchess was hit by a car near a Matalan store. I have put a minimum of 200 of the posters up and god knows how many flyers. When Duchess was hit, the staff in the store had seen a poster explaing that Duchess would run if she was approached so a team of staff got together and cornerd her. The local PSCO was called and my number was taken straight off the poster which meant I got the vets before Duchess was. Duchess was missing for 9 days, not a day went by where at least one member of the Dog Lost team was in touch via email or phone. That in itself is comforting because it feels like there is always someone out there looking even if I wasn't. Please pass on my thanks especially to the lady I think is called Lynda her emails come through as Sable. She was fantastic, a lovely person to have as a part of the Dog Lost team, deffinalty a credit to you. I have invited the whole team from the store who caught Duchess, to the pub I'm currently at for drinks and a buffet as a thank you for getting my girl back. If there is anything I could ever do for your team, please get in touch. Thank you again, Kindest regards, Claire x

- Duchess had been hit by a car near a store & the staff cornered her & called police. She was taken to the vet opposite to where owners are staying, so met her as she arrived there. Owner got a waggy tail greeting. Bless her. She is not badly injured and is there at the vet for observation. Accident was a blessing in disguise eh?Last edited: 2010-08-29 19:10:39 by Sable - Regional Co-ordinator - Scotland

- Been out again tonight, been back to the area she was last seen. Scented the area and took my other two dogs too. Saw a group of lads who said they were approached by a lady who said she saw a small dog, she thought the dog had come from Southcote Mill. So gave the residents posters and drove the other side and posterd the area.

- I have been speaking to the owner by text as i was asked to help by a friend of hers in rescue who i speak to..Duchess was last seen heading for the river. I know somebody who lives on Hatford Road and she is hoping to get out and search tonight after work.. Duchess is dog friendly and will approach a woman with a dog so my friend will take her boy with her. I did explain that if she see's duchess she must NOT attempt to catch her as this will cause her to bolt.. she will contact owner immediately instead. I am just about to send scenting instructions to Duchess's owner.. hopefully we can keep her in this area.

- A man rang last night after seeing one of the dog lost posters. He said he thought he saw a bassett matching Duchess discription walking alone in the Coley Park area of Reading Friday lunchtime (20/08/10). He said he thought she was a new neighbours dog so didn't try to catch her. She must have crossed two very busy roads to get that far. As soonas we got the call we have postered round the park. Going back today to poster a bit further down the canal.

- Sorry to see Duchess is missing. Someone will try to make personal contact with you as soon as possible, to offer advice and help. Firstly contact dog wardens, vets and local rescue centres. Give them all a detailed description of your dog with any distinguishing marks/scars. You can find vets in your own area by clicking on the green logo which says “Find Any UK VET”, on the right hand side of the page under the “latest missing dogs” photo - top right. You can also add comments and update the dog’s status, e.g.sightings, re-united etc. by clicking on “add a comment” at the bottom of the page. If your dog is microchipped please let the microchip company know that your dog is missing and at the same time, check that all details held, are up to date. You can obtain a “MISSING” poster from "view poster" above. You can only print posters when you are signed in. Start postering now! I CANNOT EMPHASISE HOW VERY IMPORTANT THIS IS. If your dog is picked up and taken to rescue kennels, it can be re-homed legally, after 7 days if it has no identification (microchip or ID disk attached), so please try to visit rescue centres, to look for your dog, give them a poster and keep in touch with them every few days.. Do not rely on checking by phone alone, as other people may not recognise your dog by your description.
