Hey Sable, which kennels did Ice end up in?? Was it ours or did the finder claim her back from the police station??
Goldenfrodo
Great to see that Ice is back where she belongs

Had a message from Ice's owner last night to say they were going to collect her. How awful that she could have been back with her loving owners long before this, if the kennels had not kept telling her that Ice was not there. She wasn't, because the person who found her, claimed her as her own, the next day, because she was told that Ice would be put down, and she wanted to give her a home. Due to ONLY word of mouth, by a coincidence, the owner found who she had been re-homed to and they have got her back. If this is true, it is a disgrace that the kennels were contacted regularly and still kept saying that Ice was not there. They should have been saying that she had been picked up already, then all the confusion and heartache could have been avoided. They also had a poster from me with a picture of Ice and all her details. She had been picked up the night she went missing and the the person who handed her in to police was told she was going to be put down so claimed her as her own the next day. This is what I have been told anyway. The person who claimed her knew that her owners were looking for her, and was pulling down the posters everywhere as she wanted to keep Ice. By a coincidence, someone who knows Ice’s owner asked the finder where she got the dog from. When she told them the story, this person told the finder that there was a very distressed owner looking for the dog and so Ice is home now. I wonder how many other dogs find themselves in this situation – kept by someone who is not their true owner.Last edited: 2010-09-14 08:50:45 by Sable - Regional Co-ordinator - Scotland

Sorry to see Ice is missing. I have left a message for you to call me as soon as possible. Firstly contact dog wardens, vets and local rescue centres. Give them all a detailed description of your dog with any distinguishing marks/scars. You can find vets in your own area by clicking on the green logo which says “Find Any UK VET”, on the right hand side of the page under the “latest missing dogs” photo - top right. Please email admin@doglost.co.uk with a photo of your dog quoting the dog’s Doglost ID number, or upload a photo yourself on “update details” above. You can also add comments and update the dog’s status, e.g.sightings, re-united etc. by clicking on “add a comment” at the bottom of the page. If your dog is microchipped please let the microchip company know that your dog is missing and at the same time, check that all details held, are up to date. You can obtain a “MISSING” poster from "view poster" above. You can only print posters when you are signed in. Start postering now! I CANNOT EMPHASISE HOW VERY IMPORTANT THIS IS. If your dog is picked up and taken to rescue kennels, it can be re-homed legally, after 7 days, so please try to visit rescue centres, to look for your dog & give them a poster. Do not rely on checking by phone alone, as other people may not recognise your dog by your description. Last edited: 2010-09-07 22:21:32 by Sable - Regional Co-ordinator - Scotland
