Excellent news.
Millys Mum
Unicandy, thanks for clarifying that. I understood that Crazy was picked up approximately 3 hours after he'd gone missing but it seems, from the report, that he wasn't picked up until Sunday, 26th. I do hope that the owners have been in contact. But, despite the differing stories, I wanted to repeat what I'd said in my post on 27th and that was thank you for taking this boy in, keeping him safe and providing B&B!
Battersea Dogs Homeunicandy
I just wanted to comment on the Battersea thing - I have looked the record up as I myself was disappointed that we hadnt picked it up - and a lost report was made for Crazy on the 24th September, Crazy came into us on the 26th and a message was left on the mobile number provided in the lost report to inform owner that a possible match was at Battersea. I'm therefore not sure where it is coming from that Battersea hadnt contacted the owner?! If the owner would like to contact me to confirm this, I would be more than happy to provide the records. We also contacted the owner on the 25th to say that although we didnt have the dog, there was a sighting and provided the road details for where he was running loose. The sighting at Union Road was provided by us. It seems we had actually done everything we could to let them know where Crazy was.... Regardless, Glad he's home.Last edited: 2010-09-28 16:48:50 by unicandy

Brilliant news !! Just saw my email from Millys mum, very happy he is now home and safe, and was picked up within a short time. He really is a stunning looking boy, so i was worried he would get in the wrong hands. Regarding Battersea, they normally are very good at matching dogs when missing, i can only think its because they have so many staffies and staff crosses go in they may over look them when busy.. if it was a bichon they would let the owner know asap because these kind of small breeds are rarely in rescue if you get my drift. But none the less he is now home safe with his loving family, well done to you all for not giving up, its success stories like this that give others hope. xx

Crazy's owner - thanks for your post. I couldn't be happier for you and your partner as you are both clearly very fond of Crazy. It was a pleasure to work with you (and your Mum!) as you did everything that was suggested and more (as you had been doing from Day 1). As we say so very often, it is ABSOLUTELY ESSENTIAL that you visit your local Rescues in person (or ask a friend or relative who knows the dog well to do it on your behalf). Battersea are normally very good about matching found and DogLost's missing dogs and so I can only presume they were very busy or short staffed but, as you say, worrying all the same. It's good that you've now registered your details with us which means that you will automatically be sent an email of any dogs that have gone missing in your area. It's people like you (and your partner!) with local knowledge who are so very important to us here at DogLost. I hope that you've all caught up on your sleep (including gorgeous Crazy!) but reassurring to know that this precious boy is now chipped and will be getting a new tag asap. Don't forget what I said about the tag details, you only need to give your surname, postal code and preferably TWO contact telephone numbers. If there's space, you can also add that he is chipped or, perhaps, call Battersea to see whether they can send you a 'I am chipped - SCAN ME' tag. I will try to remember to give you a call in a few days to find out if his limp has improved. WELL DONE ONCE AGAIN - you so deserved to get Crazy back. And finally, I just loved the latest Reunited photo - he's very handsome!!!Last edited: 2010-09-28 12:05:17 by Millys Mum

Brilliant news, welcome home Crazy. This is exactly one of the reasons we stress to owners to visit kennels and not rely on phone calls alone. Well done to everyone involved in helping in the search for the lovely Crazy and great to see he has been chipped. Lots of hugs and cuddles from everyone on DL. Jan x

Great news Welcome home Crazy.

Thank you all for your help and support and advice to look for Crazy. He is now home and I'm so happy! I went to battersea Dogs home personally to hand out a flyer so they knew actually what Crazy looked liked and the lady at the desk said I could look around...After seeing about 10 dogs I saw Crazy and couldnt belive it was him, I had to look again! We have also chipped him so hopefully this won't happen again.. I was dissapointed Battersea didnt call me as they said someone had brang him in on the same evening he went missing, and I have been calling them all weekend with tham saying no dog of Crazys descriptiion was brought in. Just shows its always better to go down in person... Just wanted to also say a big Thank You to Millys Mum personally for giving me hope and not to give up! You have been amazing and it was really good to hear your suggestions. I will be in touch and check this site regularly for other missing pets! Many thanks again! :)

I have great pleasure in moving this lovely lad into the Reunited section. His delighted owner left me a lovely message at home whilst I was at work this afternoon saying that he had been picked up close to Stockwell station just 3 hours after he had gone missing last Friday. THANK YOU Battersea for taking him in & keeping him safe. His owner said he's a little quiet and has a slight limp but, other than that, he appears none the worse for his mini adventure! You will be pleased to hear that he's now been chipped, is wearing a new collar and will be also getting a nice new shiny ID tag as a welcome home present. His owners wish to thank us for all our help and advice and, hopefully, will be staying on as Helpers which will be invaluable in their area (cos I don't know it at all & so it will be good to have some local knowledge. I have asked them to register their details & so we should be hearing an update from them soon. WELCOME HOME handsome boy, stay close and no more running off!!!

Thanks ellejay for responding so quickly to my email! And thank you also for listing those oh so important websites. I can never remember them all but know that you are well aware of them due to your own personal experience (see Dylan the Yorkie reunited Sept 2009)!!! Good idea about The Oval - owner mentioned it was close by.

Thanks millys mum for the email, been out all day so just seen this... Sounds to me the owners are doing everything right, POSTERS really do work, so where ever you can poster do it !! I am not great on Camberwell, but i know its not far from The Oval Cricket ground, so maybe ask to put a poster in there also.. Target all the walkers, in Brockwell park and especially over Peckham Rye, My O.H works in peckham, i will see if he can print some posters at work and put up round Peckham high street. He is a stunning looking boy, so hopefully he will be seen very soon, just make him to hot to handle !!! Please also try Foal farm in biggin hill as they take in stray dogs, and Croydon animal samaritans, make them known he is missing incase he comes into their care, also Pdsa, blue cross, Celia hammond vetinary in Lewisham. Please Please try all free ad websites like GUMTREE, PETS4HOMES, EPUPZ, UKCLASSIFIEDS, PRELOVED, incase someone has him and trying to sell him, or just advertising they have found him..do also look on the nationalpet register as alot of people who dogs advertise on there to say they have them. Your doing all the right things, put posters in supermarket notice boards, Sainsburys are normally good for that.. good luck, and dont give up, hope he is home very soon x

Thanks Riverlady! Owner has just called me and I have asked her to register her emails details and keep us posted but in the meantime here's a little update. They've been out postering like mad and reckon they have put up 100+ posters and was about to go out with more. They have also contacted both Southwark & Lambeth DWs but didn't get a good response from the chap she spoke to at Lambeth (I've given her an alternative tel. number to try). I've also suggested she calls Woodlands Kennels at Westerham Hill just in case the out-of-hours DW service has taken him there and to contact her local PCSOs (local community police who would walk the area rather than charging round in police cars!). I have asked ellejay to have a look at his page and to help, if possible. Does anyone else in the area have any other ideas on where and who to contact as I don't know the area and need some local knowledge?!!Last edited: 2010-09-26 18:12:26 by Millys Mum

miles away from me but can put on twitter.

Thanks Scarlet and Riverlady, just to let you know, owners would prefer his name doesn't appear on the poster (which is often understandable). I've just spoken to the owner's mum for further details. This Staffie X boy ran out of the house at around 5.30pm last Friday. They have spoken to Battersea & I have advised them to visit in person and to take a coloured missing poster. He is friendly towards other dogs, people and children. I have advised them regarding the '7 day rule'. He wasn't wearing a collar and isn't chipped. I have asked that the owners give me a call when they are back from postering. It seems that they've already done alot of postering and even have a laminator to hand. I have suggested contacting all vets, cab companies, pubs, takeaways, Royal Mail sorting office, alerting dustmen & street cleaners, schools, dog wardens, etc. Are there any Helpers in the area who can help with this missing lad?
DogLostRiverlady
Rang and left a message advised to poster, poster.....and that we dont have his name.
