- I'm so pleased that Bruno is safely back home xx
- 2010-10-21 13:19 Angus
- What lovely pictures of Bruno with his human and canine family, it goes again to show how quickly dogs can be moved around the country into available rescue places and without valid ID they may never be seen again, so pleased in this case that Bruno was able to be returned to his rightful owners. As CJ mentioned this has been an awful time for owners, the rescue and the new owners and could have had a very different outcome.
Last Chance rescue saved this boy from the pound and a certain outcome which his owners will be eternally thankful for and the new owners must be heartbroken - I do hope that they are able to give another rescue dog a great home as they sound like real dog lovers.
Also very pleased to see that all of the rest of the canine family will be getting microchips (which if the details are kept up to date) really can save so much heartache when dogs go missing. - 2010-10-21 12:04 Jayne - Founder Doglost.

- Having spoken to police this morning it was down to the new family who had BRUNO for 3 days that meant this was resolved so quickly.
We must also remember that Last Chance were also innocent victims as they acted in good faith having taken this dog along witht the many others they rescue each week from being PTS>
They then rehomed to a loving family and knew nothing of the history of this dog.
With hind sight a micro chip would have reunited Bruno when he was fist picked up but we also do know that LC always chip all dogs before rehoming so this now needs to be changed back to rightful owners.
I hope the new family find another dog to give a home to and must also thank Last Chance for liasing with Police and bringing about this happy ending. - 2010-10-21 09:52 Scampsfamily

- Had a reply from last chance rescue centre -
To whom it may concern.
Just to notify you that Last Chance is assisting the police with their investigation into a reported thieft of a Border Collie known as Bruno. If it transpires that the dog in question is Bruno I am sure the owners and any other interested parties will be most grateful that Last Chance saved his precious life by rescuing Bruno from a Welsh dog pound thus saving him from being put to death in Wales.

- we have n idea where the family come from. the rescue is in kent but family could even be further outside this area.
I have just taken a call from CID in wales who are going to phone the rescue and see what can be done to help.
Its a sad situation. owners did all they could to find their dog. As soon as they found out where dog had been taken they immediately contacted Swansea.
Dog by then had been taken to rescue in kent after day 7. A new innocent family have now rehomed this dog whilst we have a heart broken family that have owned BRUNO for four and a half years. CJ - 2010-10-19 15:34 Scampsfamily
- Do we know where abouts in Kent as I live in Kent if we have some more details I could try to help x
- 2010-10-19 14:15 CJ - Police Liaison & SE Regional Coordinator
- BRUNO has ben rehomed about a week ago by a rescue in kent area. they took the dog on day 7 from the welsh pound. a crime reference number from CID in wales has ben issued by Carmarthen HQ- number 20101019181 and hopefully they will ring the rescue to explain the dog has been stolen and could details be given. Rescue has done nothing wrong and may have even saved this dog from being PTS on day 7
Hoping new owners can be contacted and given full story and will find it in their hearts to give Bruno back to his family. - 2010-10-19 12:34 Riverlady
- Have put on twitter......what area do I use to circulate? Have put #Swansea #Wales.

- Owner has since found out her dog was stolen and taken to Swansea where the dog escaped 2 weeks ago. Local kennels not being helpful and are saying that legally after 7 days they can rehome a dog...but not letting owner know if they have rehomed a border collie. Owner is getting a crime number and putting details in the Swansea press.
