- For coordinators info particularly 'Angus', your dog trap has been returned to Carlton Forest via 'Nigel' Bassetlaw District Councils dog warden. He picked it up yesterday along with their own two from my place. He works with the kennels all the time and is aware that he is responsible for the trap until it is safely delivered. Hope this is acceptable.

- So pleased Sandy is now safe.
- 2010-10-13 23:48 Jenni S
- This is brilliant news. Wayne, all your patience and perseverance paid off. Sandy's had such a sad little life so far, but I'm sure her new family will provide a loving home for her in the future. They must be delighted. Everyone at our stables will be so pleased. Bit late, but may have to go crack open a bottle of wine to celebrate!
- 2010-10-13 22:01 Donnybluewayne
- Cheers Angus, look forward to it !
- 2010-10-13 21:35 Angus
- Donnybluewayne - Thats good news all around then - Sandy caught & 2 new traps for the Dog Warden services - I have sent you a text re the Doglost Trap - will give you a buzz tommorrow.
- 2010-10-13 21:25 Donnybluewayne
- Another good thing to come out of this saga was....
The demands of Defra and various other agencies on Bassetlaw District Council has resulted in 2 x brand new dog traps. So if we are ever short dog lost peeps, we need to contact Nigel the dog warden !!
RESULT !!!

- Well folks, the bad news is I'm not, and therefore you guys aren't privy to any details 0((( BUT the good news is Sandy is home or rather back in kennels !!!!!!!!!!!!!
I had a phone call late this afternoon from the Notts CC Trading Standards Enforcement Officer, a charming lady who assured me Sandy was safe and well and hopefully to be fully reunited with her family shortly. No further details are available due to ongoing actions !
She is now in Kennels closer to her midlands home and is in good health and non too worse for her big adventure.
I guess all she needs to do now is learn English !!
I will rescue the trap over the weekend and store it in my garages until required, or if any coordinator has another idea please let me know.
Thanks
Until next time

PS How do you change the status to FOUND ?? - 2010-10-13 12:02 Angus

- 2010-10-12 23:15 Jenni S
- Pleased to hear Jessica's got the "all clear". Hope there's soon some good news re Sandy too. What happened to photo?
- 2010-10-12 07:35 Angus
- Hope all is going well with the feeding station and that it will just be a matter of time - or a particular food - we caught Lady the spaniel using the skin of a smoked salmon (she had expensive tastes :-) )but it stunk.
The picture seems to have disppeared from her page ? - 2010-10-11 21:20 Donnybluewayne
- The trap is a standard trap but with a hook for food instead of a foot pad trigger, if you can understand that.
I have been telling the locals to stop feeding her, but found out today she HAD been seen a few miles away but that was last week. Many sighting in and around South Leverton. Jessica been to doggy doctors with Archie and mum today, told she is fit as a flea for a 16 year old staffy x, slight temp but seems 90% recovered after a 'bug' or something like PHEW !
The kennels mentioned are superb at what they do, North Leverton (Gary) for boarding, he's such a nice man and Carlton Forest (Don't know her name) for rescues in particularly, she is a diamond, seems to work tirelessly for all her dogs, bless her.
Reminds me of my days volunteering for CDDRS, Chichester and District Dog Rescue Society, based at Rowlands Castle nr Portsmouth 18,000 dogs rescued in 25 years back in 1989.

- Just for the record, the RSPCA 0300 number did ring me back this morning - lady called Fran. Told her a trap had now been located. She said to ring back and ask for her if we thought she could help further. She asked what sort of trap; if it's the type with a "sock" a dog probably wouldn't be able to get the food out and it would be best to make it more accessible for her. She did advise trying to stop other people putting out food which Sandy might eat, as she needs to be hungry enough to go into the trap. I think Wayne is already aware of these points, and stopping other people may be easier said than done. Hope there's some good news very soon.

- I've contacted Carlton Forest Kennels in the past and found them to be excellent. Hope that everything goes well tonight.

- Fingers, toes and everything else xd that Sandy fancies the menu! Very pleased that Jessica is better today and hope she stays that way. The people at the two kennels sound lovely. If I'm ever in a position to take another dog, will bear in mind.Last edited: 2010-10-10 23:41:33 by Jenni S

- Hope that Sandy comes to feed tonight, will keep checking her page for news x

- To add to that, Gary of North Leverton kennels has looked and looked for this dog, top guy, top kennels.
The CARLTON FOREST KENNELS near Worksop has a NON euthanasia policy, bless her and all her staff !
- 2010-10-10 19:40 Donnybluewayne
- Trap set, cooked meats on hook inc. beef, ham and chicken.
Good news is Gary of North Leverton Kennels has had a potential spotting of her this evening. Trap set in same garden as she was seen feeding in at 12.30pm Friday. Fingers crossed everyone.
Just to say, the lady at the CARLTON FOREST boarding and RESCUE Kennels is an absolute diamond, if anyone lives in the Worksop area please go and rescue a dog from her. She takes on average 6 to 7 dogs A DAY and currently has well over 100, mainly beautiful Staffies bless 'em.
Jessica is far better today, mums home so she's perked up a treat xxx

- Have looked on internet for dog trap for loan/hire but all I could find were for sale - in US and other such places. Hope your own dog's ok; it's always a worry when they get older.
- 2010-10-09 14:04 Jenni S
- Have spoken to Donnybluewayne but, for the record and in case it helps anyone else anytime, will post here. Tried Broxtowe Borough Council as they seem more helpful - 0115 917 7777. Got the dog warden out of hours. They don't have a dog trap, they borrow from RSPCA when needed - 0300 1234 999. Tried this number but only open 9-5 weekdays. Keep trying RSPCA Radcliffe-on-Trent (0115 9334422) but line busy.
Since our conversation, have tried large pet supplies store in Wollaton, but they don't have traps or know of anywhere to suggest, other than dog wardens! Rang RSPCA Nottm & Notts Branch (0115 978 4965) who put me back on to the 0300 number but trying menu option 1 and then 1 again. They took some details and will get back to me. Will let you know. - 2010-10-09 12:14 Donnybluewayne
- I've tried everywhere, far and wide, the local authority dog warden hasn't even got one, Bassetlaw DC really are rubbish. Tried all rescue/boarding kennels, exhausted all avenues. I've leafleted the area and made as many people aware as possible. Now the lady has gone home the chances of 'catching' the dog without a trap are minimal due to her being very very timid. Many have been close, all have failed. With my 20+ years experience in dog rescue, my hopes now rest with her giving herself up due to hunger/exhaustion. Fingers crossed.
- 2010-10-09 12:08 Jenni S
- I'm sure it's not lack of interest. Dog traps are things that probably most people won't have. I've asked around but so far without success. Have you tried local kennels, rescue homes, RSCPCA, etc., to see if they have one to lend? Will keep trying.
- 2010-10-09 10:34 Donnybluewayne
- Disappointed by the lack of interest on here, this dog was found 'dying' in Portugal by the current owners who nursed her and cared for her until they returned to the UK months later, I believe she had had her pads cut off and her chest mutilated. Then in quarantine kennels she somehow escaped possibly when walker stumbled and let go of her lead.
Her owners who are lovely 60 somethings, have completely exhausted themselves looking for her and are having to return to the midlands to recouperate.
Can anyone please help us? We desperately need a dog trap as she was spotted yesterday several times in South Leverton. H E L P P L E A S E !!!!!
- 2010-10-08 13:37 Donnybluewayne
- Spotted by my friends in centre of SOUTH LEVERTON, 5 miles east of RETFORD.
We need a humane dog trap urgently for tonight, we only have a really small one, can anyone help with a MEDIUM SIZED HUMANE DOG TRAP? Ring Wayne on 07957 265077
Thank you

- Anymore updates please ? Just got home and seen the owners campervan in the lay by.
- 2010-10-06 19:30 Jenni S
- Saw Sandy's page when looking for another. Will put up poster at our stables in NG21 - not that close but people travel around so worth a go. Am also sending to a friend who lives nearer and could keep a look out for her. In the meantime, good luck. The fact that there have been sightings is promising, so hope she's found soon.
- 2010-10-06 19:01 CorbiereW
- Definitely part pharoah hound or part podenco, but it small the former - I used to have one, they are keen hunters and can turn off the 'tamed' part of their brain at will! You might have to use a trap for this one as being in the wild will be heaven for her...
- 2010-10-06 16:33 Donnybluewayne
- No joy, will persevere obviously, anyone coming over this way we would be happy to advise where to look, shouldn't be too difficult given the area and open fields. She is only 2 miles from home and seeming heading that way from the sightings. Locals informed and round here the word spreads like wildfire. Will try again until she shows herself. Spoken to Kennel maid and owner. Good luck one and all especially Sandy, come on girl you've had a good run, time for tea !

- Just been spotted in last hour at or near to Tomlinsons Haulage yard/weighbridge on Treswell to South Leverton Road, just 100 yards from our house. Owner there now, we're off to Rampton Lane/Beckingham lane area as she seems to be heading home. Wish us all luck !
- 2010-10-06 14:57 Donnybluewayne
- Seen by our friend in woods adjacent to Alfa Feeds/Retford Road, suggest contacting Alfa Feeds direct as they are aware of the dog. Confirmed sighting as she described the dog as looking fox like. I will be going there shortly to have a look around my telno is 07957 265077.

- She was seen in Treswell Area, Notts yesterday. We are looking in this area currently.
- 2010-10-05 12:22 tazieff
- We dont have poster as we had only just got her and got to house when she escaped - she looks like a smaller version of a pharoah hound. We have spoken to the police and rung all the number that have been given to us.
- 2010-10-05 11:35 Goldenfrodo
- Will make contact with owner to advise and request photo as soon as possible.

- Sorry to see Sandy is missing. Firstly contact dog wardens, vets and local rescue centres. Give them all a detailed description of your dog with any distinguishing marks/scars. You can find vets in your own area by clicking on the green logo which says “Find Any UK VET”, on the right hand side of the page under the “latest missing dogs” photo - top right. Please email admin@doglost.co.uk with a photo of your dog quoting the dog’s Doglost ID number, or upload a photo yourself on “update details” above. You can also add comments and update the dog’s status, by clicking on “add a comment” at the bottom of the page. If your dog is microchipped please let the microchip company know that your dog is missing and at the same time, check that all details held, are up to date. You can obtain a “MISSING” poster from "view poster" above. POSTERS ARE EXTREMELY IMPORTANT. Start postering now!. If your dog is picked up and taken to rescue kennels, it can be re-homed legally, after 7 days, so please try to visit rescue centres, to look for your dog & give them a poster. Do not rely on checking by phone alone, as other people may not recognise your dog by your description.Good luck
