Just so lovely to read your fantastic news. I would though think very seriously about putting your lovely dog thro a cataract op. It is quite an op in a dog and not quite the same as in a human. My dog was diabetic and went blind very quickly and I had him operated on but only on one eye as he was so distressed by the whole procedure and he was a lot younger than your dog. Your little one will soon adapt to the new surroundings and will cope very well. I do wish you both manymore happy times together once again xx

Lovely reunited photo of lovely Snowy. I dont know who was keepimg him, but have my own theory. Happy reunion to you both. Dont mind donating a little to Snowy`s vet fees if needed. Sending Snowy good vibes for his health issues.

Aaaaw - so pleased that Snowy is back with her mum - how lovely of that kind gentleman to pick her up to safety & how terrrible of 'someone' to have taken her & mistreated her - but at least she is back where she belongs & being cared for & loved x

Thank you all for your lovely comments.
I wanted to give a little update on how Snowy is doing. She was in quite a bad state when I got her back and needed some tlc from my wonderful vet. Her claws were so long she could hardly walk and both her ears were full of black gunk and her right ear was full of puss. We think that due to her condition she was being kept in quite dirty conditions and likely to have been restricted in her movement, due to the length of her claws. Her cataracts have also got a lot worse so her vision is quite impaired. She had been due to have an operation on them just before she was taken, so now I need to raise about £2000 as she is no longer covered on insurance.
So one week on and she is running around again and is so back to her old self. She is now 13.5 years old but you wouldnt think it now watching her. It is an absolute blessing to see.
I think its really important to notify the microchip company that your dog is missing and also to ensure your details are kept up to date. The stray dog centre re-iterated this and said that because she was highlighted as missing they would have taken extra efforts to try and contact me.
So I didnt get much done at the weekend just spent the entire time enjoying her and my other dog (who is now getting used to the idea that he's not the only dog member of the family now!).
It is very, very emotional and fantastic.Last edited: 2014-06-23 08:33:30 by helen

Tears of joy for you Helen and little Snowy, well done to the kind man who saved her from the roads xx

WHAT BRILLIANT NEWS!! Full marks to the council who scanned and returned dog to rightful owner. unlike other councils we have found keep the dog for 7 days as in their eyes the dog has been missing for so long and been fed so must now belong to someone else!!
Microchip works and should also prove ownership which sadly it does not.
So pleased for this family to be reunited especially in her 'golden years'.

Amazing story! That must have been such a shock after all this time. How old is snowy now, as I noticed she was an older adult when she went missing all that time ago?

Sounds like someone was looking after her and feeding her rather a lot. Wonder if she escaped and they are now looking for her. Well done to the microchip and vet who scanned.
Clarkey - Area Co-ordinator, East Sussex
Wow! That's amazing .. I'm so glad for you. Another reunion thanks to the power of the microchip and the vet who bothered to scan her. Stay safe now Snowy!

My little Snowy has been returned to me after 3 years and 8 months. She was found wandering up and down a busy dual carriageway in Portsmouth and a kindly gentleman was concerned she may get run over so took her to the local council dog centre who were able to contact me due to her microchip. She is a little old lady now and very overweight but the Vet is confident she will be fine. The Vet has been absolutely brilliant - Tracey Manning from the Hook Veterinary Centre. Snowy has fitted right back in and is just following me around all the time. I never thought that I would get her back after so long and this is just so brilliant that she if finally home.
wensmum
So pleased for you, Helen xx

Still no news on Snowy. Have put loads of posters out advertising reward but have not had a single lead.
B30
Advertised in The Countryman's Weekly magazine. Good Luck
Meeka
Hopefully Snowy will be featured on tonight's Inside Out at 7.30pm so I have bumped her - fingers crossed this brings some much needed information on her whereabouts - there has really been nothing to go on sice she disappeared - someone must know something - fingers crossed for you Helen - you continue to try so VERY hard to get your girl home, keep at it, you're doing a fantastic job but you just need something concrete to go on.
Meeka
Hi Helen, will give you a call hopefully tomorrow but just wondering how you were doing, I gather there are lots of posters - keep at it, please don't give up and fingers crossed for some news of Snowy soon.

Still no news on Snowy. Had a report from a friend that another Parsons Jack Russell female was taken from a garden in Addlestone near Chertsey on Sunday 3rd October the day before Snowy went missing.
Meeka
Still no definate news of Snowy. Had a long chat with owner this morning, she's still actively looking and getting those posters up, starting to go further afield, trying to get local press coverage - fingers crossed we hear something soon.
helen
Had a few possible sightings at Hawley Lake, Hook and more recently a dog like here without a collar at Elvetham Heath. Have been to look in all places but no luck. Have put out about 100 posters. Posters put near local sites have been removed, so just need to keep looking.Last edited: 2010-10-27 13:03:31 by Angus

Spoke to owner yesterday. Lives in rural area with no passing roads only footpaths. very friendly dog who likes to geet passerby but has never wondered before and never shown an interest in doing down holes, knows area very well - lots of posters up but advised to poster further afield and definately near local "sites" of which there are a few. Hopefully she'll be home safe and sound soon. Local DW informed - thanks Spudley for putting up posters, please give to anyone else you know in the area, we need to find this lady as soon as possible
