- Tanika, to place a Missing ad in the South London Press, you just call the classified team, choose your wording and photo and pay your money. Some owners have used the DogLost missing poster. Also, it might be the best idea to ask them to print the Missing ad on the paper's Announcements page rather than it being tucked away at the back of the paper amongst the Pet Section. The papers are normally very helpful and so just speak to them and ask for advice and explain that you have a tight budget to adhere to.

- thanks, i have been wondering about a reward but i dont work etc im at colege, i can talk to my mum about it though and hopefully we can get some money together as right now i would give anything to get her back, and yes i would like to place a ad in a paper such as the south londonpress but do you know how i would go about doing that? do i just email them or something?

- Tanika - I really wouldn't worry about the prank call(s). Sadly, there are a few brainless idiots out there who've got nothing in their sad little lives! Also, some of the owners of missing dogs do get calls like these and so you are not alone, I'm sorry to say. Are you able to offer a reward as it might encourage, whoever has her, to give her up??? Also, have you put a Missing ad in your local most popular newspaper??? Sam, Shih Tzu (ref 25635 - check out his reunited story), who went missing from SE2 has just been reunited because of posters and a small article in The Greenwich Times. You really ought to consider both a reward and a Missing ad, if funds allow. We NEVER divulge owner's 'real' names on site unless the owners choose to do so. Has your first name appeared on Facebook, Twitter, etc or maybe word has just gone round your area and that someone who knows you has innocently mentioned your name, as the owner of Roxy, to the wrong people?. But, as I say, please don't worry about these brainless morons as they aren't worth it!Last edited: 2010-11-02 10:41:51 by Millys Mum

- hi, i just spoke to two local police officers who said there is nothing much they can do because it cant be proven that she was stolen and she may have run aeay, even though i am certain she didnt. Alao i recieved a call 2 days ago from a boy who knew my name saying they had roxy, they were saying "what should we do with her? put her in the oven?" they then hung up. At first i thought it was likely to be a prank call but i double checked all the posters i have put up and my name is not on any of them, which leads me to believe maybe it was a true call which has worried me alot.I am also really worried that Roxy will just be forgotten about and now it is coming up to bonfire night i worry about her cos she is frightened of fireworks...i am not sure what else i can do from this point.

- Tanika - I'm so sorry to hear that you still haven't had any news about Roxy. For peace of mind and, if I was you, I would call the dog warden back as your thoughts, about the possibly that someone has got the date wrong, may continue to worry you. However it is good news that the dog warden is aware that Roxy is missing and came up with a 'close match'. Do you know what area the dog warden came from. I think it's important to locate your Royal Mail sorting office and to take along a large coloured A4 poster and a stack of mini-flyers so that all posties can take one and so will have Roxy's details to hand if they spot her or see a similar-looking dog. I don't know who else has put up posters although, as you will see from the initial post from Jayne, emails were sent to registered DogLost Helpers in several postal codes. Also, you ask about whether someone would notice if Roxy is in season. If she was 'in the middle' of her season her 'lady bits' would be more prominent and during the course of her season, it wold become even more 'obvious' (if you know what I mean) but try not to think about that because that but just concentrate on continuing to poster and make her the best know and hottest girl in town. Also, a Missing ad in your most popular local newspaper is a MUST. Also thanks deedee for adding Roxy's details to Facebook.

- Hi, my mum lives in the se1 area, i have put a picture on facebook, she will also spread the word, good luck
- 2010-10-28 16:18 Tanika
- also apart from myself do u know if anyone from the doglost website has put up any posters?
- 2010-10-28 15:01 Tanika
- Yh i think that too, also i forgot to mention earlier she was on heat at the time of her going missing/being stolen. this worrys me alot as now i am wondering whether someone has stolen her for breeding? would they have been able to know just from looking that she was on heat? i really am concerned about this as Roxy is such a friendly but shy dog she has lived with us for over 2 and a half years and has never really spent time away from us, i worry about how she must be feeling now with a stranger and if they are treating her well. Also i have not yet managed to get hold of my postman but will do so asap and i just recieved a call from 01252774400 (dog warden) saying they found a dog that matches the description very well, i was begginning to believe it was her as she had the same marks around her eyes n the little bit of white on chest etc but then they told me it couldnt be her as this dog was found 2 and a half weeks ago and roxy has been missing now for a week...is there any way they could get this info wrong? is it worth me calling back and asking to see the dog? i cant bear the thpught of it being roxy and they made a mistake?

- Tanika - thanks for the update. Mmmm - sounds like someone has her and is keeping a low profile. Have you given a large poster and a stack of mini-flyers for all posties to carry with them on their rounds as they would know better than anyone, if there is a new dog on their rounds. Have ALL local vets been handed a Missing poster?Last edited: 2010-10-26 23:09:37 by Millys Mum

- ellejay - thank you so much for picking up on missing Roxy. We seem to have quite alot going on in our area (Roxy, Bella, Sam, Coco, not to mention Gemma over in Essex and now Dave!!!) and so it's great that you are able to help. Tanika, we can arrange for you to receive mini-flyers (3 or 4 to an A4 page). I tend to just photocopy these in black & white onto BRIGHTLY coloured (orange is good) paper. You can then post these through doors, place under windscreen wipers, hand out to all your local posties and give out to dogwalkers in parks and just about anyone else you come across. Let us know if you would like us to email these to you. I presume you have notified the chip company that Roxy is missing and made sure that her contact details are up-to-date. But what is REALLY IMPORTANT is that you visit Battersea in person (check out the reunited Crazy, the Staffie's story, to realise that you really must go there yourself or ask someone who knows Roxy well, to go there on your behalf). - Also, please look on all free ads websites, like gumtree, pets4homes, epupz, ukclassifieds, preloved, just incase someone has her and trying to sell her on, or someone has found her and advertised on these sites they have her.
- 2010-10-23 19:33 ellejay
- Tanika, sorry to see you girl is missing, you are doing the right things, Poster like Mad !! Everywhere you can think of, pubs/clubs, cab offices, supermarkets, target dog walkers in the local parks.. Get an advert in the local paper, not sure if its The Newshopper in your area or not.
Posters really do work, so cannot stress enough to get out there and go poster crazy.
Was she tied up outside the shop, or just sitting waiting untied ?? Does she have a tendenacy to chase other dogs or birds ?? if not yeah she may well have been taken by someone.
Inform your vets that she is missing and all other local vets, get posters n them. Contact Battersea asap, but we advise to get down their in person and not all dogs get spotted missing straight away. Contact the Dog warden.
Good luck and make he rthe hottest girl in town so someone will soon see she belongs to you. - 2010-10-23 17:00 Tanika
- i am going out today to put up posters in the local area and to look in ruskin park.
- 2010-10-23 16:59 Tanika
