Unfortunately Holly's body was found at the edge of the loch near Camster Cairns this afternoon.
Thanks to Liz, Margaret, Benjy and the local farmer who came and helped look for her.
At least her owner can take some comfort that she was found.

Just logged on to caithness forum before heading out to search with the lamp and saw the sad news that Holly's body was found this afternoon; what a tragic outcome, my thoughts go out to her owners and foster carers.

Someone has already posted on the Caithness forum about Holly, so that will be a help too.

Thanks very much davidlloyd. Still waiting for a photo of Holly but you will know if you see a tiny JR white with brown spots, that it will be her. Police have been informed. I will post on the Caithness forum if it has not been done. The worrying thing is that she may be trapped somewhere by her extending lead.We would all be really grateful if you could spread the word for everyone to keep a look out for her.Could you possibly print off a poster or two, or even her details to hand around. The fosterer lives 100 miles away and nobody is going up there to look until Sunday. She is a VERY long way from home and will have no idea where she is.Poor little mite.

I live on that road and walk my dogs around the area so will definitely have a look for her and put some posters up. Will there be a photo of Holly added? There's a very friendly community here and I'm sure someone willtake her in if they find her. Have the polie in Wick been contacted? There's also an SSPCA centre locally - http://www.scottishspca.org/rehoming/centres/4_caithness-sutherland
There's also a very popular community forum http://forum.caithness.org/
where information on lost pets can be posted.
Hope she turns up soon.

Just spoken to the owner's daughter. Owner is in hospital in Inverness and Holly was being cared for by a fosterer. She escaped and ran off with her extending lead on. Fosterer stayed in the area for around 3 hours looking for her, but no joy. The area where she went missing is remote and around 100 miles from where the fosterer lives. Very difficult situation. Have given advice on scenting but as the area is completely unknown to the dog, this is going to be extremely difficult. Hoping Holly is not caught up in her lead and goes to one of the crofter's homes for food and shelter.
