- What a lovely article. Brings back all the memories. I really hope it gives hope to people who are still looking for their dogs and it will hopefully bring many more volunteers to Doglost. I will never forget the help and support I got on this website :)

- I have just read the article about Eva in Dogs Today magazine and have to say that although I was not involved with Evas case as too far away, it made me proud to be a DogLost volunteer despite all the worrying about missing dogs and the tears shed about those reunited at Rainbow Bridge. Well done all and stay safe Eva in your forever home.

- We all had a lovely Eva walk yesterday and it was great to see Edipaws & Camp K9's faces when they realised that they were meeting the local celebrity dog! Everyone was very generous & a cheque is now winging its way to DogLost on Eva's behalf to say thank you and to help carry on their excellent work.

- Thank heavens for that, I can now go home the short way instead of detouring in the hope of seeing her. She must be the most well known dog in the area everyone knew of her in the area, just as well because I notice some months back a lot of the posters had been removed. Anyway I will be supporting this walk and I'll get a few others around the area as well, this site is precious to all of us who have animals.

- It is great to see how happy & confident Eva is in her long-awaited new home! I was thrilled to meet her last week and can't quite believe that this is the same dog that we have all been so worried about. She acts as if she hasn't just had a 5 month long adventure! I would consider it a great privilege to join the walk next weekend! Give madam Diva a big hug from mexx

There is a car park right in front of some playing fields. Would be lovely to see everybody who has helped during those last 5 difficult months.
Thank you :) Looking forward to seeing you. - 2011-03-28 10:15 Doglover

You have all worked so hard for this result - I'm so glad Eva's settled back in easily - the photos as fab - she looks in remarkable shape after her (your) ordeal. Your devotion is a lesson to us all - always to stay positive and never give up. I admire you all immensely - not least Eva for her survival abilities and you for your endurance. Jo xx

- After things have settled down a bit now, I just wanted to let everybody know how we managed in the end to catch Eva.
Eva was seen quite a lot in and around the grounds of Canon's. Unfortunately due to the ownership dispute Canon didn't allow me access to their site. (I think I mentioned that before).
Anyway, we put the trap down on somebody else's property, but due to the high population in foxes in the area, we could only open it when somebody was around to monitor it. This restricted us quite a lot in the hours the trap could be left open. We had a rota of helpers to supervise the trap, mainly in the evening/night.
Then suddenly the sightings stopped. First we thought Eva went nocturnal again, but then we realised that something must have make her move areas. We just didn't know where to.
Then I got a phone call from a lady who has seen Eva on a field next to her house a few times. When she showed me the location, she agreed that we could put the trap down there. So we moved the trap and as this area was less used by foxes and was less populated, we took our chances and left the trap open 24 hours, but with very regular checks on the trap. We filled it with tripe in and around the trap. We expected weeks of getting Eva used to the trap, beside we weren't even sure she still was in that particular area.
We set up another rota of checking the trap and did that on a regular basis.
And Pete was the lucky one, when it was his turn to check the trap he couldn't believe his eyes seeing Eva in it.
We then took Eva in the trap to my house, where we released her indoors. Against all expectations she came immediately for a cuddle and said hello to everybody.
And I really can't mention often enough, that without the fabulous people helping it wouldn't have been possible to get this result. And a huge thanks to Doglost and their coordinators. Not only were they always willing to help with advice, but were also always willing to pick me up when it all felt pointless. Same for my helpers. They really kept me going and I think they should get all the credit.
Once Eva has properly settled in, we are thinking of doing a sponsored Dogwalk to raise funds for Doglost, so they can continue their brilliant work in assisting people with missing dogs. Of course Eva will be the guest of honour and everybody is very welcome to take part. We haven't decided on place or time yet though. I will keep you all posted :)
P.S. Eileen, I tried to call you, but couldn't get hold of you :) - 2011-03-26 20:45 carole
- I have also followed Eva's adventure since day one.I knew the area well having lived in the Redhill/Reigate a few years ago. I was overjoyed to know that at last she is home.
- 2011-03-26 19:14 Jayne - Founder Doglost.
- Thank you to everyone....You are all stars! I am exceptionally touched by the references to Violet...who sadly despite the wonderful commitment by Team Violet... did not make it....hampered by the fact someone maliciously tampered with the trap! The trap that worked for Eva.
Please look on Violets page as local Co ordintors have set up a direct request in her memory for another kennel for the fabulous Woodgreen kennels.

- Thanks :) Yes, I am pretty exhausted. This morning Eva jumped for a cuddle on my bed before we went out for a short walk. I took some pictures on my phone (excuse the quality) and the weather was slightly misty, which didn't help. I hope with works sharing them on Photobucket.

- This week has been such a roller coaster with the awful news of Violet, Spider & Cody but thank goodness we are ending on a high note! I still can't believe she is back, safe & sound but I am just thrilled with the way this has turned out. There were times when it seemed everything was against us but we carried on regardless and it has paid off, big time! Even when it was quiet on here, Team Eva was always quietly working in the background and it has been an absolute pleasure to have been involved so closely with the search and I have met some lovely people (and dogs!) Dog Lost is an amazing organisation and has the most fantastic helpers who made all of this possible. I can't wait for my cuddle with Madam Eva the Diva!! xxx

- 2011-03-25 17:44 BorderCollies
- I am over the moon to let you all know that Eva is now safely back home with me. Through the tireless effort of Team Eva, we managed to catch her after nearly 5 month of search.
I have to say a special thank you to those people who went out with me or on their own, day or night to look for Eva, putting up posters, putting leaflets through doors, or watching the trap. All the hard work paid off in the end and for a change we managed to be a step ahead of Eva.
Eva is doing well and now sleeping on my living room floor. She looks amazingly well. She had something to eat and doesn't seem worse off after her long ordeal....
She had cuddles with everybody already and is now having a well deserved snooze... I will send some pictures to the Doglost team, once we are all a bit settled. I still can't believe she is back...
A HUGE thanks as well to the fabulous Doglost team. You can be very proud of what you are doing, bringing people together to help each other out.
Thanks everybody who had helped, if it was moral support, or physical...
I still can't believe she is back... (I am repeating myself now ;-) )

- Unfortunately there is no news about Eva. No more sightings. Either she is gone or she went nocturnal again. We are thinking of doing another night stake out, so if anybody is able to help for a few hours, we haven't decided which night yet though.
Thanks :)
Thanks Roz, I feel slightly better, still very tired though. - 2011-03-15 22:47 Roz

- Good if this was indeed Eva, as it would mean that she is still sticking to the Priory, Canon Insurance and the Redhill Common areas, and not venturing further afield. Will have a drive around at the weekend and hope for a sighting. Get well soon Ursula, and stay safe Eva xx

- Thanks for your postings. Sorry, I haven't been posting much, I am knocked out by a heavy cold at the moment, which doesn't help, plus hardly any sightings of Eva.
Thanks Louise for posting the sighting :) - 2011-03-10 20:03 louise
- Possible sighting at the top of Priory Drive on Park Lane East Reigate. Thursday 10 March around 7.30pm. Dog was alone at edge of road - possibly just come out of woods opposite.

- Me too like kimmybear feel sad about Eva out there all on her own. I really hope that you may have seen Eva again Ulla and hope that very soon she gives up her freedom to be back home with you. You have tried so hard to get Eva home and that day will come I am sure. I think of her every day. Please let us know how you are getting on. Stay safe Eva until you are found. - Been wondering what has been happening. If it was Eva spotted on the 25th by Kate, should we be concentrating on the Reigate Heath area? I have driven around the Reigate Heath, and Flanchford area this week, but unfortunately no sign of Eva - hope she hasn't gone further afield. We do need another positive sighting of her. We hadn't had any sightings for some days now, so not sure what has happened. Sorry I don't have more positive news :-/ - 2011-03-01 22:10 Julie B
- I hope that you (Ulla) are still getting to see Eva. You were so close last time you posted on here - I really had hoped to see your girl back with you by now. Stay positive as that day will come. I check her page at least once a day and hopefully very soon she will be in the Blue. Stay safe Eva - it is time for you to give yourself up and get home to the comforts waiting for you. Julie xx

I still check in here daily - sometimes two or three times - and one of these days Eva is going to be in the blue. I do hope it's soon. Stay positive - we're all rooting for Eva to come home.

- My husband and I were just walking back along the A25 from the Black Horse on Reigate Heath this evening (25/2 at about 9.55pm) and our cocker spaniel got all excited having spotted a dog that looked like Eva running along the pavement. She ran into Charlwood Place (houses and apartments).

- I am getting a bit excited here, as I feel Eva's nearly home - you are so close! Ignore all the negative comments - you just do what you need to get Eva back. Eva needs a Mum who loves her and who will do anything for her, if that is you, then you go get her! As you only had her a few hours, this is probably why she has remained lost as she didn't understand what happened or where she belonged. Once she gets to know and love you, she will always be yours. You can sort all this mess out after, but you may find it will all disappear on its own. Just concentrate on getting this lovely girl safe and sound and take it from there. We all love Eva too, so do keep going regardless. You have done so well so far. x Last edited: 2011-02-25 00:16:49 by Kimmybear - Area Co-ordinator, Essex & Hertfordshire borders

- Suziewoo - I am trying to point out that there are many questions which have not been answered. To be honest I do not care! What does concern me is that this page has turned into a witch hunt and is no longer a dog lost page. Without wanting to sound sexist you are acting like gossipy females using this forum to share your gossip and bitch about others who have taken the stand not to vent their business in public.
So come on ladies stop posting your negative comments, this is Eva's dog lost page after all!
I am not interested in a slanging match with anyone and I will not respond again, but I was compelled to register today just so I could express my astonishment and sadness about what has happened to this poor dogs page.
- 2011-02-21 12:52 DebsAndGreg

- Sharp - I quite agree with you in that this is about the search for Eva but with the former owners hampering the search by spreading lies about Ulla, it has put local people off from helping and that is very dangerous for Eva. This is the only place that Team Eva have to let people know the truth. Would any of us really ask for a receipt for a dog if we had possession of the dog & brought her all the way down to Surrey from Yorkshire? Would the previous owner have completed the KC forms to transfer her? Why have the previous owners not given their side of things on here? If Eva isn't legally Ulla's what was she doing in Surrey? Are they saying she stole her????
Anyway, the main thing is to trap Eva for her own safety. She is doing remarkably well by herself but she will be safer once she has been caught and is back in her new home with Ulla. - 2011-02-21 09:29 claire
- Wow. Im so pleased you got to see Eva and that she looks so well :) Claire
- 2011-02-21 09:09 BorderCollies
- Yes, you are right Sharp. I spent the last 3.5 month looking for a dog which is not mine ;-)
Anyway, I wanted to inform the people who are genuinely interested in the search of Eva, that I was lucky enough to see Eva.
I literally stumbled across her at the weekend.
She looks amazingly well, has a thick dense coat, looked actually slightly portly, so well fed it seems and when I saw her she looked quite chilled.
I had some time to observe her before she spotted me and she was pottering about without any worries it seems.
When she saw me she was careful, but not scared or worried. I manged to throw some food towards her which she took to my surprise.
We spent quite some time "together" before unfortunately some dog walkers came along and she got scared and ran off. I stayed another 2 or 3 hours hoping for her to come back, but it seems she had moved on.
I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw her. Anyway, she is well and it was a good for me to know that she looks as well as she does.

- it saddens me to see that this page has turned into a support ulla page and is no longer find eva. the fact there is a dispute is clear that there is a problem with ownership. if ulla paid "several hundreds of pounds" for eva why did she not get a receipt? if ulla paid all this money for eva why is the owner still hanging around? as she clearly is in a better position than ulla? may be ulla has not paid for her? may be she is trying to claim ownership without paying "several hundreds of pounds"? none of you know what is going on behind the scenes INCLUDING me before you start on at me! all of you are believing ullas story without questions? but to me it does not seem to make sense. i have read kims comments and she has been helping until she was excluding from sightings as we all were because they did not want loads of people out calling her. thats when the question of ownership was brought up NOT before! so rather than take one persons version of events as true there are two other people involved also who are being given abuse on here. so ask yourselves why is there a dispute? if ulla paid a lot of money as she claims then she would have proof of purchase and there would not be a dispute> i have no interest in reading bitchy, gossipy comments on here!

- You may think the ownership is not important right now,but the previous owner has talked to Canons and the big school at Redhill Common where Eva is seen frequently and also the dog warden and told them all not to help Ulla. Without a court judgement proving that she paid for and recieved the dog in good will, these 3 will not help Ulla. In fact quite the reverse they have been very rude to Ulla. A trap cannot be put on public property. Canons would be perfect for a trap if they would only give Ulla access
- 2011-02-19 20:03 Brenda H
- Ditto to Xenas Mum! Has her chip details been changed ? Hope so ! I find it difficult to understand why the previous owner is doing this - if she is still logging on to this site, please stop and consider what is best for Eva - Ursulla has proved herself to be a dedicated owner and deserves a happy outcome for all her efforts - you made the decision to give her up after all !
- 2011-02-19 20:03 Haachi
- What sort of person sells a dog, takes the money, signs the Kennel Club papers and then changes their mind and a) refuses the sale took place and b) refuses to sign the petlog change of ownership papers. Don't you think these people should be black listed from selling dogs?
- 2011-02-19 19:54 Xenas Mum - Area Volunteer, Norfolk
- I am so very sorry to read about Eva's ownership dispute, there is no doubt in my mind that Ursula is Eva's mum and Eva will prove that when she gives herself up to you Ursula. Please don't give up on her! My only concern is that Eva's microchip will be registered to one of her previous owners so if she is found and returned Ursula and everyone else will still be looking for her without knowing! Stay safe Eva your new Mummy loves you which is more than any of the old ones did!!

- Yiftaki the Greekie was found six months later. He escaped from Hooley and was found in Slough. This little one used to travel up to ten miles a night and his "triangle" COVERED A HUGE AREA AS THE MONTHS PROGRESSED. Luckily Eva seems to staying in the same area. She will be caught.... Yiftaki eventually gave himself up to a wonderful gentleman in Slough. The micro chip was read and he was returned to us. Hopefully Eva will find that "special place" and give herself up very soon. Come on Eva !!!!
- 2011-02-19 10:48 Brenda H
- This whole 'custody' thing is really sad, and not in Eva's interests, as previous people have said, the last owners gave her up, and that is that! Ursulla has worked tirelessly to find her and bring her home and I really hope she is rewarded for her efforts soon.Try not to let this get you down, I know you have a lot of support around the borough. Incidentally, someone told me about a Greek rescue dog that ran off soon after it was adopted and was reunited with it's new owner after 8 months ! so there is still plenty of hope ! Good luck and please let me know if I can be of any practtical help!
- 2011-02-17 20:31 CampK9
- My tuppence would be that giving up on the search for Eva because of disputed ownership is not in Eva's best interests. And given that Eva is missing any dispute over ownership is about as useful right now as squabbling about whether you own a part of the moon.
We are pro dog walkers in the area and we have kept our eyes out for Eva around Redhill and Reigate whilst walking client dogs as well as our own and we will continue to do so. We have no interest in ownership claims. Our only doubt is whether Eva, despite the extensive sightings and impressive postering, is actually still in this area and/or fending for herself successfully after all this time. But as I say we will continue to keep our eyes open and hope she returns home safely. - 2011-02-17 15:48 Angus

NO PERSON or PERSONS who have previously posted on this thread have been banned from posting on doglost it would appear to be an elective choice to post or not. - 2011-02-17 12:28 Patch
- Dont give up because of two lying bullies, the breeder herself on this thread stated she is the EX owner and the other one who offloaded Eva back to her [ who did not claim ownership on here at the start, if she were the owner she would have been jumping up and down at the first post ], well instead of pairing up with her why she has`nt called the police to arrest the breeder for selling Eva to you has she, why not is what I`d like to know, if she wasn`t hers to sell then she must have stolen her, so if the other one is the real owner she should be dealing with her through the law. But she wont do that because she gave Eva up bavk to the breeder who openly advertised her for sale, you bought her fair and square. They either need to explain themselves or keep the heck out of it. If they do catch her [ they wont, they have`nt been out night after night day after day like you have, like REAL owners do ], let me know when you would like me to come with you to retrieve YOUR dog Ulla x

- Ursula, you must be distraught at what has and is now going on. I agree with Claire that you have worked so hard at trying to find Eva. This has really upset me to think that these 2 people have made things so difficult for you to carry on searching for Eva. As they gave her up they should think themselves lucky that you being her new owner has spent so many hours/days looking for a dog that clearly means so much to you. I hope that she is seen and that you are told so that she can be at home with you where she belongs. I too hate the thought of her just being left out there to roam and fend for herself. - Ursula, when we met in Masonsbridge Road a couple of days after Eva went missing, you mentioned that as you had only had Eva for a day, you couldn't believe the sense of loss you were feeling already. You have worked so hard over the weeks, in some of the worst weather imaginable, and you do not deserve this. Eva was spotted near the Canon grounds in mid-December, so it is great that she is still keeping to that area. I still keep a lookout when I am out and about and am convinced that she will be caught eventually, but after that?? Good luck x

- It really annoys me when people give their dogs up and the moment something happens, they suddenly want them back again. If they can take the dog back on then they should never have given it up in the first place!
I really hope that YOU get Eva back Ulla and that she is home safe and well with you soon. Thinking of you. xxx - 2011-02-16 20:20 digbysmum

- Ulla you must be absolutly devastated and exhausted. I do feel for you so much. From that first phone call I had with you that late snowy night in Reigate I could sense your passion and love for Eva. Some people in this world are so cruel and selfish. We still go out often at night looking for sightings of Eva. If we do see her again we would only contact you, her rightful, loving, loyal owner. You have more than proved this over the last 3 MONTHS. Take care of yourself. Claire

- How disgusting, shame you did not get it in writing off her. I would let them get on with it and I doubt they will get close enough to her for her to hear their voices. I am very surprised at the DW, wonder if they will come on and say their peice. Sometimes in life you have to put things down to a bad experience but hope Eva does get caught, so she does not spend the rest of her life on the run.
I will think of you even though you are taking a step back and wonder if they will come on to say their bit.

- 2011-02-16 17:46 BorderCollies
- Eva was seen a few times at the grounds of Canon in Reigate. Now both previous owners convinced the people at Canon's that they still the owner of Eva and that I am a liar and never bought her off Kim. On this grounds Canon denies me access to the grounds and we cannot put a trap there as the 2 of them rather want to come down here and call Eva.
Beside that they seem to go around and bad mouth me with random dog walkers they meet, who are then reluctant to help me.
Anyway, now they don't even acknowledge that I bought Eva off Kim and say it is all a lie. This makes me wonder why I spent the last 3 month looking for a dog which was sold to me by a person who didn't seem to have owned it at the time of sale....
I will take a step back now and will let the 2 get on with what they think will lead to the catching of Eva! Good luck to them. I was obviously cheated as I thought I bought a dog for some hundred pounds which I now have no saying over according to them. And it seems that Dog Warden is helping them too... as I took far too long to catch Eva...
I wish the 2 of them all the best in catching Eva. - 2011-02-16 14:37 PaulaK

- I really feel for you Border Collies, you are worried and upset about Eva and the last thing you need is hassle and nastiness from previous owners. You are doing such a fantastic job and I believe soon enough Eva will be home with you where she belongs. Have you thought about contacting the paper again to ask if they will do follow up story to say that Eva is still missing? This would make the public aware and hopefully start the sightings coming in again. Maybe you could contact Meridian News - I have seen dog stories on there before and I am sure that they would help if asked. I think of Eva every day bless her heart and am willing her home. - There can't be many people left in the area who haven't heard of Eva & her plight! I have seen first-hand just how much time & effort has been put into postering, handing out leaflets & plotting Eva's sightings. Even when it has been quiet on here, there has been huge amounts of work going on in the background. It is just such a shame that not everyone has been working towards Eva's best interests. Let's just hope that those who gave her up in the past, allow us to get on with the job of catching her & ensuring her safe return to Ulla.
- 2011-02-14 21:07 ML
- Ulla, I too have been following Eva's story from day one and although not posted in a while have still been checking her thread and am so pleased that you are still getting reports of sightings. I feel very sad that you are now having to deal with ownership issues on top of dedicating all the time that you do in trying to find Eva. It's a shame that her previous owners are not channeling their thoughts into trying to find Eva rather than hindering the search for her. Anyone reading this thread can see how much effort you have put in and how hard you have worked to try and get Your girl back home and i'm sure you have got the full support of everyone on doglost. I really hope that you get Eva back soon and keep up the fantastic job that you are doing. Big hugs and good luck with it all. xxx

- Hi. Can I suggest 'BUSINESS CARDS' as an easy means to pass on basic info, instructions and of course, contact details. You can get 250 free cards from www.vistaprint.co.uk.
you can put whatever info you want to on them and can hand them out to everyone you meet/see!! As a business card, they can easily be put in a wallet or purse and forgotten about until that 'someone' sees Eva.
Order then at the slowest postal rate (21 days) it will cost about £3.50 and you still get them in 4-5 days. To order more, just repeat the process, don't pay for them, you really don't need to!!
Good luck in finding this little minx!! - 2011-02-14 16:15 Deb4gsd
- I also have sensed the uneasieness as time went on between previous owner and present owner and wondered when it would come to a head! What is important right now is the safety of Eva and getting her back home. I do not understand why previous owner would want to cause disruptive problems in the attempts to get Eva caught by stirring up this ownership debate.
As has been said by others, it's obvious who is doing all the hard work in searching for Eva, day after day and at all hours with all her heart and soul......that makes a 'real' loving owner in my eyes!Good luck with the ownership problem and fingers crossed Eva will soon be home! - 2011-02-14 15:05 Leona*
- I have followed Eva's thread from day one and had a feeling that a dispute about ownership may have arisen from some of the comments,I am so sad it has come to this and you must be feeling so disheartened Border Collies - I think you deserve a huge pat on the back for everything you have done and all that you continue to do for Eva - I am too far away to help but want to give you a virtual hug and hope that everything comes good for you and, of course, Eva xx

- How awful - I was only thinking the other day that I had not seen Kim on here for a while but as I am aware if you buy something it is then yours but I don't obviously know the full details on this situation. Anyway the main concern is getting Eva back. I can't believe people are now not helping with this, this is so sad. I am behind you all the way just wish I lived closer.

- 2011-02-14 13:00 dewilliams42
- it seems a lot of people do support you, bordercollies. you have worked tirelessly since nov. to find eva and surely that is the most important thing. the matter of ownership at the moment is of the least importance but i can well understand how you feel-you need support not conflict. so carry on with your hard work regardless. im sure it will pay off soon.
- 2011-02-14 12:54 Yettontop
- the prime concern is to get Eva back into a safe, secure and caring environment. Surely any ownership wrangles can wait until that purpose is achieved. Ulla, you have done so much for Eva - don't let this detract from the current aim. Lots of support is evident!! Stay strong!
- 2011-02-14 12:50 Angus
- Bumped for the latest sightings - I too am very saddened that this ownership battle has been continued and that it could now jeopardise the search or the placement of the trap - surely this is not what anyone wants ?
- 2011-02-14 12:07 PaulaK
- We all know who has done all the leg work searching for Eva day in day out for the past few months - and we contunue to support you Ulla x

- Ursula, I am very saddened to read what has happened. You haven't wavered in your search for Eva, and rest assured we locals who have been with you since day one, are still determined to help find and catch Eva. Such a shame it has come to this and that solicitors now have to be involved. I am very close to Reigate Garden Centre and the BMX track (Sovereign Centre) and will have a drive around today whilst I am out. Glad she is still around. Stay safe Eva xx
- 2011-02-14 11:15 BorderCollies
- Unfortunately I feel I have to make a statement here now.
Behind the scenes there was a lot of aggravation going on unfortunately. One of the previous owners of Eva suddenly decided that I am not the legal owner of Eva, is slagging me of publicly and tells people who want to help that I am not the owner, so some people are reluctant to help now until ownership is proven! Now, I don't know exactly what purpose this serves, as it only hinders the search for Eva and puts us back in the search, beside, it is highly demotivating, when all you really need is support.
Now I am sure Kim can't deny that I bought Eva of her. But it seems she decided not to back me up and help Eva, but to remain quiet and so plays in the hand of the previous owner...
I will now get a solicitor involved and I am sorry that it took this course.
I thought people who are on here and want to help should be aware of what goes on behind the scenes, which is not always pleasant :(
I am very, very saddened about this all. - 2011-02-14 08:54 BorderCollies
- Eva was seen last night at the Reigate Garden Center (Sandcross Lane)and then running towards the BMX tracks (not entirely sure where that is, but I know there is a playground with either BMX or skate facilities)
Brenda, we considered the trap and we are discussing at the moment a place to put it down. Though through he frequent movements it is quite difficult to find a spot where it doesn't get stolen and where we can monitor it quite frequently, just in case we catch other animals. - 2011-02-13 21:45 Brenda H
- Well don't lose heart Ursalla, you have worked very hard to try and be reunited with this 'foxy' lady, and hopefully your efforts will eventually pay off - agreed the description of the last sighting could fit lots of dogs, including mine!! Trouble is she probably moves pretty fast when she comes near people now - has anything come of the trap idea yet ?
- 2011-02-13 14:19 digbysmum
- Had been wondering if there was any news. I still keep an eye open for Eva when I am out and about and am glad that she is still apparently staying in the area and managing to feed herself. Stay safe Eva xx

- Thanks for asking Julie :) We are putting food down at various places, but can't be sure it is her taking it, as it would need constant monitoring. Last night I put some food down and sat watching for about 2 hours. Though 2 foxes appeared, they didn't take the food. Eventually I went home them. I am sure that the food will be gone today, but as I said, I don't know if she takes it. She has been seen a few times, but still people try to call her and/or catch her, which usually makes her move on then. Even when I explain to people that if they see her again, they shouldn't try to call her or grab her, they still insist on giving it a go to trying to catch her.
She was supposedly seen yesterday in priory Park, but the only description the lady who called gave me was that she had a white tip to her tail and looked very nervous...
Everybody who sees her reports how well she looks and even suspects that somebody must look after her.. Though I doubt that very much, but it is good to know that she seems to do well..
The team was busy leafletting huge areas of Reigate last week, so we don't rely on the posters that much anymore. Still sad when people then ring and say they saw Eva, but threw away the leaflet, so had to find a poster first before they could call.
So all in all, we are still working on it and we are making progress, but it feels babysteps at time. She is just one clever little lady.
I think people who see her have to realise that living on her own for 3 month she behaves more like a fox now than a dog. A friend of mine used that comparison and I think it fits quite well. Nobody would try to catch a fox by calling it or grabbing it... - 2011-02-12 22:14 Julie B
- is there any news of Eva ? I still think of her every day and wishing that she was back home. Julie x

- I will put posters up in my car too. I think the whole of the borough now knows about Eva but she just needs to be kept calm & to stay in one area. After this long she will not respond to anyone calling her and it would be counter-productive. She has survived so long living on her wits that she will resist anyone trying to catch her. It is going to take patience & a lot of cunning to secure this young lady!!Last edited: 2011-02-06 13:26:43 by Suziewoo

- Never had a problem with R&B Council when I lived there - you really must have a lot of posters up! Could you have a word with the postmen to see if they would deliver flyers house to house for you? Also the kids that deliver the local free newspapers. Agree with everything Yipsey has said - I also used to put posters up that had tear off strips with a contact phone number and a tiny photo so people could take one with them and have the number to hand. Come on Eva it's time to give yourself up now girl!
- 2011-02-05 18:21 Brenda H
- R&B Council are really mean - what harm would it do to turn a blind eye!? I have posters on my car so they can be seen wherever I happen to be parked - fingers crossed for a happy outcome soon !

- Would be great if it was Eva spotted in Honeycrock Lane, as this would mean that she is back on "home" turf. It would be easily accessible from Lonesome Lane - just a few fields and the main A23 to cross. Come on Eva, show yourself xx
- 2011-02-03 22:26 Father Ted
- you can also do smaller leaflets like credit card size (like a sheet of mailing lables) to hand out to walkers etc - people can have them to hand. Have been following the thread but not posted before, very pleased that you are still getting sightings of Eva and wish you loads of luck ~ I am too far away to be of any help but good wishes coming your way
- 2011-02-03 22:12 BorderCollies
- Great ideas, thanks. We do leaflets, but they are very time consuming to distribute, especially in a widespread area. But they are very useful. I like the idea of the sandwich board... I used to have a poster in my car all the time, have to put a new one up.
Thanks :) - 2011-02-03 20:57 yipsey
- With regards to the Council telling you to remove posters....we had the same problem with Epsom & Ewell Council when our Yiftaki was on the run for six months. All other local Councils were fine....we saturated the areas with hundreds of posters....they were on every traffic light junctions in Surrey. When Epsom & Ewell threatened us with a fine we approached local residents to display the posters on their property eg. fence, gate, wall. As long as the poster is on private property the Council are unable to object. Posters displayed on the side windows of cars gets the message over...when travelling or parked. We even made a Sandwich Board out of cardboard with photographs and Yiftaki STILL MISSING !! Walk around Reigate wearing this and all of the shoppers will notice. Jackanory, Xenas Mum & I spent many hours day & night replenishing damaged posters.....& postering in new areas when he was spotted.....he could travel ten miles a day! Leaflets can be put through letter boxes....we had special ones printed at Prono Print.... well worth the money...this did bring new sightings ....Please do not be down hearted.....YOU WILL FIND HER.

- I just had a phone call from a chap who saw Eva running down Honeycrock Lane and then into the fields off Honeycrock Lane. I went out to have a look, but didn't see a thing. This sighting comes as a total surprise to me, as she hasn't been in this area for a while.
So if anyone who is local could keep an eye out, I would be very grateful.
I got a phone call from the council too that we are not longer allowed to put posters up. This doesn't make it easier :-/

- Sorry that I have not been able to help over the past few weeks due to family health problems. I have however been looking when possible while walking my own dogs. I have also been keeping watch on proceedings. Like others I have not wanted to keep reporting nil sightings. I hope she will be home soon.

- Just want to echo what Becky said, the efforts BorderCollies and helpers both here and `on the ground` are making are exceptional, when Eva finally lets herself be caught she will realise what a lucky girl she is when she`s safely home with BorderCollies x
- 2011-02-02 14:14 Becky
- As part of the 'lets find Eva' team I can vouch for just how much everyone involved as part of the team are trying to secure a happy ending to this story.
If anyone sees Eva please don't try to call her or catch her but phone or email your sighting.
I know everyone is willing Eva home, non more so than BorderCollies who I think deserves a medal for the way she has conducted herself throughout this ordeal.Last edited: 2011-02-02 14:22:53 by Becky - 2011-02-02 14:11 claire
- Hello Ulla. Just to let you know I have not lost interest just didnt want to bother you by texting all the time. I have been following comments on this site. My husband and I have been out many nights looking but have not seen Eva. Please be reassured that if we do we would call you straight away and make no contact with Eva. Everthing crossed that Eva is back with you soon. Claire

- Sorry this site has been a bit quiet, but the team works tirelessly in the backround.
We had a few sightings which we didn't publish after we discussed it with the team, with Doglost and with some Experts.
Unfortunately due to Eva's "popularity", people go out call her and chase her away. We are out every day putting food down, hoping to keep her in an area. We were advised that any disturbance of that could chase Eva away so we have to be very careful. As Eva is so easily spooked we are extra careful and don't want anybody to come and call her, as this hasn't worked the first, nor the second time.
I hope nobody thinks we are taking this decision lightly, but we feel we are working in the right direction... So let's hope we will have another sighting of Eva soon.
I can't thank the "team" enough for putting in all the hours they do and for printing posters and leaflets and putting them out.
Due to Eva's quick and widespread movements it is very difficult to pin her down anyway.
Thanks :)Last edited: 2011-02-02 12:42:15 by BorderCollies - 2011-02-02 11:44 Brenda H

- A sighting of Eva was reported. She was seen last night on a playing field off Lonesome Lane. The lady who rang said that there is a very large woody area behind the playing field where Eva could easily hide out as it is so dense. She mentioned as well that a friend of hers living on the same road had some chicken disappearing recently. Though they blamed it on the fox, it is not totally unbelievable that it might have been Eva.

We saw this dog in Fairlawn Drive at 2.20pm on 21st January. I had corrected my dog
for pulling on her lead, looked up to see why she had pulled and saw Eva standing
motionless but tense. She had a blue collar and possible the ragged remains of a
lead but she shot off towards Redhill Common before we had time to see further
details. We did think it unusual at the time, as there was no owner visible and
assumed that she had run down from the open area at the top of the Common and was
heading back. We did not realise she was a missing dog until later when we saw the
posters. We did another search of the area at 4pm but had no other sightings. I hope
this helps. KG - 2011-01-27 17:05 BorderCollies
- Jayne, the lady who rang in to report the sighting in Wray Lane was quite specific about appearance of the dog she saw and did mention other features which convinced me it was Eva. It was actually a really good description of her. Whereas I had a few sightings reported lately where people stated that the dog they saw was very fluffy, or had a red collar, was quite big, etc all things which don't describe Eva.
I wanted to add that there are so many posters out there now and that people are really concerned about Eva, that they now report every single dog they see in the area. Even when they look different... Last edited: 2011-01-27 17:07:47 by BorderCollies - 2011-01-27 14:51 BorderCollies

I think the sighting in wray lane at about 10.00 on 25th january may
have been a mistaken identity.I am doing some voluntary work with the
national trust in gatton park on tuesday mornings and one of our team
had a male border collie with different markings from eva who went
missing whilst we were working and was picked up in wray lane at about
the same time as the sighting.
I walk my dogs every morning in gatton park[ nutwood] and have not
seen her but will look out for her and ask my fellow dog walkers to do
the same.Have you contacted the national trust warden?
Good luck!

- Every sighting helps so it can be plotted on the map, the fact she was in his garden was very interesting, hope he rings in if she goes in there again, as maybe it could be used as a feeding station?

- I know it isn't a recent sighting but thought I would mention it anyway - I've just met an elderly gentleman who lives in St John's & who saw Eva in his garden over the weekend. I've given him a leaflet & told him to ring if he sees her but not to approach her or try to trap her.

- Managed to come over and do some re-postering and leafleting today. One possible sighting was from one of the workers at the cafe in Priory Park. She saw a dog, which could have been Eva, a few evenings ago coming down Cockshot Hill. She thought it odd as knowone was with the dog.

- Sitting here in Norfolk wondering where you could put posters that will target different people, so apart from the obvious Pets at Home and Pet shops in Redhill and Reigate how about The Harlequin Centre and Library in Redhill, There are also info boards in the Bellfry. Doynings Sports Centre and the bowling bit round the back - not that far as the dog runs from where Eva has been sighted. Will Sainsburys display a poster, if not in store what about their Car Park? Redhill and Reigate Railway Stations and the Bus station at Redhill. Any chance of posters on the busses????? Have you contacted the Milkmen in Reigate, not sure what is still around but there was definately a Dairy Crest delivering in Earlswood before I moved last May! Are all the postmen aware, poster in sorting office etc. I am sure you will have covered many of these but if I give you just one new idea it is an extra change of getting Eva home safely. Wishing you luck from afar :)

- I've handed out some leaflets at St John's School & Earlswood Lakes today. Just wondered if anyone has targeted the local pubs? - Thanks for all your offers to help. A friend of mine offered to design a new poster, which then might draw more attention and make people aware that Eva is still missing.
What I thought, after talking to Martin was to monitor the 3 areas where she used to be seen. Gatton Park, Redhill Common and Priory Park. I suppose Gatton Park will be the most difficult one to monitor, as she has been seen at several locations around the park.
I will have a look on the map and see which areas she is most frequent.
From earlier experience it seem with Reigate and Redhill being so busy on Friday and Saturday nights, Sunday would be the choice to go for, or a week day. I appreciate that people need to work the next day, so maybe a window from 10 -12 would be a good start...
I don't expect an instant result and another sighting beforehand would be handy, but not sure Eva will oblige. The other thing is to distribute flyers at people passing during day time at the same location, or maybe even in Redhill and Reigate centre.
If anybody has any more ideas, please let me know. My phone number is on the poster, if you need to get in touch. I will call everybody who offered help to maybe work out a day which suits all of us, as I think the more "eyes" we can generate, the better.
Thanks again for all your offers to help. Very much appreciated. I couldn't do this without you! - 2011-01-19 20:21 Brenda H

- Good news BC - Our trapping knowledge comes from lessons given by Martin to early coordinators which has been passed down the team - it is good that you have spoken with him and gained info directly.
Maybe you could do as we have with Violet arrange a team meeting and take your maps and plotting info and let people look at all the possible routes and any buildings allotments, schools and water sources and allocate people to walk sections over say a weekend time handing flyers to everyone that they meet along the way - we did this last night and areas being walked today are already turning up new sightings from the last few days which is very encouraging.
You are doing a fantastic job here under very difficult circumstance x - 2011-01-19 14:54 Unknown

So if there are any volunteers out there who are happy to keep watch a few hours late evening, please get in touch. Thanks. - 2011-01-19 14:22 Becky
- Ulla you are doing an amazing job, this must be so frustrating for you. I hear that in some areas posters are being taken down almost as quickly as people put them up. Do you know which areas need re-doing at the mo?

I rang Martin and left a message on his answer phone, but didn't get a call back yet.

- Hello Ulla, I have been keeping up with Eva's sightings on google. Has C done any of her maps recently to check out her movements to see if there is a pattern?
- 2011-01-18 21:32 evaway
- im sure eva is longing to be home also! but eva will be dreaming about gathering sheep in yorkshire. as we are all dog lovers then im sure we would all put evas best interests first and not our own? or would we?
- 2011-01-18 19:49 Kim
- That will be for Ulla and I to sort out when Eva is safe and sound. Whatever is in Eva's best interests after such a long ordeal is most important. Its hard to believe we still havent got her safe after all this time.

- As Eva's previous owner (willing to have her back after her ordeal), I can say that Eva will curl up anywhere warm, quiet, safe, dry etc, when she needs to sleep. I guess after all this time that she has a few regular places. It wont be just one.
- 2011-01-17 18:37 Suziewoo
- Have any of the Doglost experts got an idea what sort of place she stays in during the daytime? She must have found somewhere pretty safe to hide from people & other dogs as there have been so few sightings in daylight. Would she be likely to have several daytime safe locations or is she going back to just one? Do dogs on the run follow some sort of behavioural pattern or is each one unique?
- 2011-01-17 17:03 Brenda H
- Regarding the trap - is it worth asking Reigate School if you could put it in their field overnight, if they are not allowed in public places, as Eva has been seen in the area ? Good luck anyway !

- Hi BC. There are several problems with putting a dog trap up. One is that Eva is moving around so much that I wouldn't know where exactly to put it. The other thing is that the dog warden told me that I am not allowed to put a trap up on public property :(
I went out last night but had no luck. It seems very difficult to pin point her. :-/
Where is the Pub, Brenda? - 2011-01-16 17:44 BC
- Has anyone tried trapping her, there is a chap called martin soar, contact number 07815131164, he is excellent, if you are having sightings around the same area, either he will come out, or will tell you where there is a trap available in your area

- Just a thought, has a poster been put up in The Skimmington Castle pub, at Reigate Heath? Very dog friendly pub.

- I don't mind helping on the odd night walk, if anyone would like company for this - can pick up if needed

- I've just spent half an hour looking at an ariel view of the area and there is a lot of park land and farm land for Eva to go in/on didn't realize how much, so loads of places for her to hide, at lease she has shelter and bins to raid to get food

- Pleased there are still sightings of Eva. This is my neck of the woods - I live very close-by -but my car is still off the road so unable to drive around at the moment. Seems she only appears at night (sensible girl), but hopefully my daughter will drive me around the area tomorrow, and perhaps we may catch a glimpse of her. Stay safe Eva xx

- Eva ran across the road in front of my car just after midnight last night as I came into Vevers Rd, Woodhatch. She was headed to the park by Brandsland. I drove round the block but couldn't see her again :- (
- 2011-01-15 18:03 Suziewoo
- I hung around for a while as I was worried that they might flush her out but didn't see any sign of her. It is the first time I have ever seen them up there so they could be travellers just passing through.
I'm sure that everyone who has followed Eva's story will be more than aware not to try to approach her but to report any sightings to you asap. I'm more than happy to drive you round or go out with you if you need me too. My car is reliable & dog-friendly! My mobile number is 07799 140810. Good luck tonight! - 2011-01-15 17:57 BorderCollies
- Thank you Suziewoo. The question is, if these are around, will Eva hang about there???
I will be careful, might take one or 2 of my dogs with me to keep them off my backside :) - 2011-01-15 17:37 DebsAndGreg
- Good luck for tonight.
- 2011-01-15 16:34 Suziewoo
- Really pleased there has been another sighting but BC, please be careful tonight when you go out searching. I have just returned from Earlswood Lakes & there was a group of 8-10 men with dogs searching for rabbits. I warned another lone female dog walker & she said that the same group had been out earlier in the week & that both men & dogs were aggressive. The Police were called on the previous occasion. Hopefully they won't be back again but just be careful. Everything crossed that you find Eva.
- 2011-01-15 16:32 Becky
- Good luck I'll be willing Eva to show herself.

- Just had a phone call from a lady who spotted Eva last night. She seems back in Woodhatch again. Eva was opposite Reigate School and running towards the woody/ park bit opposite the school. Though the lady drove around to see if she will see Eva again, she didn't. At least we know she is still in the Woodhatch/Redhill Common area. Guess where I will be tonight :)
- 2011-01-14 15:43 BorderCollies
- Sorry for not replying earlier, was busy looking for transport. Hopefully that is sorted now, so I am happy to go out at night too, would be helpful though if we had another sighting beforehand. I might just try Redhill Common or Priory Park tonight, then she probably will be at Gatton Park, knowing my luck ;-)

- BC has done many things to attract Eva, like barbeques, but she is not staying in one place, she is on the move all the time. So she is proving difficult to target.
- 2011-01-13 22:28 Moogie - Area Volunteer, Cornwall
- Sorry not read all the posts so appologies if this has already been mentioned but have you had any bbq's at night where there have been sightings to try and draw her in? Just an idea. She's surviving so well I hope she gives herself up soon.
- 2011-01-13 08:57 Kim
- While sightings are extremely important, and all your kind thoughts are too, it mustnt be forgotten that Eva is going to run like anything from any stranger that calls or approaches her, and even faster from dogs. Jo and I can plan a trip to help look for her on a night, as that seems to be when she is seen. She will come to us if she stops long enough to realise who we are. Even our dogs would spook her now, she would run before realising who we or our dogs are. I need someone to look after my three girls at night, as that was the problem last time, I could only do one drive round at night, had to get the girls in bed.

- I've just driven round Timperley Gardens as I was in the area but didn't see any sign of Eva. I'm more than happy to join in any night time walks or to drive someone round to try to spot her. Edipaws - I'm the lady with the 2 greyhounds who got chatting to you about Eva at Earlswood Lakes. Well done for joining the search!

- edipaws dog walking and camp k9 teamed up on saturday to do a night walk at earlswood lakes to see if we could find her, as it looks like she is only coming out at night, we were walking around for a good hour, but we couldn't see anything, i enjoyed it so i will do it again soon!! Not much use now but I did see her on christmas at the end of my drive, (smoke lane) i was reversing out of the drive and by the time i had got out of the car she was gone again, but we are hoping she has learned to go through bins and stuff to get food. she is one tough cookie!!! we will get you girlie just hang in there!!!!

- I can't believe she's not been caught yet! At least you know she is still out there. There may be a plus to her not being caught, as no one can steal her. I see it doesn't mention a reward, maybe you should think of doing this as it may get others on side to make them help. It really does work. You must keep going - perseverence will pay off. Those who win are those who don't give up. Have you checked and plotted her sightings on a map? She should be doing a triangle. You may be able to predict her next port of call before she gets there. You probably already know this, but just in case. She's going to need a big meal and lost of sleep when she does getback home! Bless her. (I hate fireworks so much!). x

- Please could you pass this information on to the owners of Eva, black & white border collie, lost in Redhill, RH1 area on 6th November. I have just seen a poster.
My son saw a dog like this late in the evening on Wednesday 6th January while he was driving. The dog ran off of Redhill Common at the bottom of Whitepost Hill, Redhill and then ran off towards Blackborough Road. This is in the exact site of the poster.
There are a great deal of wooded, shrubby areas around there and I think it would be worth the owners thoroughly searching the Redhill Common area.

- BC, pleased that Eva is still being sighted. If only she could be trapped in someone's garden - wouldn't it be great - but I think she is far too cute to let that happen! Like you, I am still without a car, very frustrating, but have lots of people keeping an eye open for her. Stay safe Eva xx

- Just had a phone call from a young man who said he saw Eva a "couple of days ago". He couldn't remember when exactly, but was this week. He sai he saw her at Tipmperley Gardens and then at St Bedes School.
Seems she returned to where she was before. Unfortunately my car broke down today and it doesn't sound good. So not sure when I will be mobile again :( - 2011-01-08 15:59 Unknown

- I walked from St Johns to Earlswood lakes this afternoon to see if I could spot a hideout but couldn't see anything obvious. I live in Redhill and have a child at St John's School so am never too far away. I walk my 2 dogs round the Redhill Common/Earlswood Lakes area most days and know the area reasonably well. If you want someone to go out with late at night, I am happy to drive you round so you can try to spot Eva. If there is a sighting that you can't get to, I am also happy to go out & follow her from a distance to see where she goes. Please let me know if you need any help. Lots of people have seen the posters but didn't realise she was still missing. Fingers & paws crossed that someone has a really useful sighting soon. I presume that someone has contacted the groundsmen at Gatton? There are so many places she could hideout there.

- A lady rang today who told me that she saw Eva on Sunday the 2nd of January in the middle of Priory Park, close to where the Cafe is. This was in the early afternoon. So either Eva didn't return to Gatton Park, or she then went back to Priory Park. Interesting though that she was out during the day. I can imagine the park was quite busy on a Sunday.

Would imagine Eva went from Wiggie Lane back to Linkfield Lane, then along Park Road into Timperley Gardens, and from there possibly into Green Lane and Carlton Road, and hopefully back into Gatton Park where she is probably holed up. This is great. My car is still off the road - it is so frustrating, but as soon as I am mobile again will be out searching. Stay safe Eva xx

- Just had a phone call from a lady who saw Eva a few days ago, which could tie in with the sightings on the 1st of January. Eva was at Timperly Gardens at 4am.
Looking at the map this is not too far from Gatton Park, So if it was on the day where she was seen near Redhill station, it seems she could have returned to Gatton Park in the early hours of the next day. - 2011-01-04 14:42 BorderCollies
- Thank you LPerkins... It is interesting to know that she is still going to Reigate center. I wonder if the fireworks brought her out and then maybe pushed her over to Redhill. Wonder if she comes back to Reigate, as I can imagine she has no sleeping areas where she comes back to.

- I saw a dog at 01.30 on new years day. I was driving down Bell Street just about to cross the traffic lights at the Morrisons junction and a Collie, looking like EVA above, ran across the road and up towards the Cinema. I remembered it as it was odd to see this type of dog out on its own and then saw the posters around yesterday.

- Kim, Wiggie Lane leads into an industrial estate which is bordered by a railway line either side (think one line may be the Gatwick Express) then there are open fields leading to Nutfield. If Eva were to head west, she would only need to cross the A23 and cut through one housing estate, to be back in Gatton Park Road and Gatton Park. This is the safest option for her, especially if she travels at night. Yes Melanie she could get quite easily from Earlswood to Whitepost Hill then would probably go down Linkfield Street, across to Linkfield Lane, across the A23 into Frenches Road, and almost straight into Wiggie Lane where she was seen at 11pm. Shouldn't imagine it would take her long at night. Stay safe Eva, wherever you are xx
- 2011-01-02 20:32 Kim
- Thanks, better the golf course. I'm sure you have it covered, but in that area I put up posters in the golf course car park at the end of the Hospital. I am not sure how many golf courses there are in that area, Eva seems to be using them all. I am also trying to revive my sim card after my phone was lost in the snow. I had the number of a very helpful man who works in the tower at the aerodrome. He rang me when we had that sighting when I had headed back for Yorkshire, and turned back after the sighting. They have to look around the whole airfield every 10 mins, and report any animal on the field. I dont know when she is going to settle in an area, but could easily head back around the aerodrome.
- 2011-01-02 20:17 Melanie
- I live not far from the Aerodrome, so will keep looking around this area in the next few days
- 2011-01-02 20:15 Melanie
- Kim
I dont think she is using the railway lines, it is possible to get from Nutfield/Earlswood to Whitepost fairly easy using the golf course, which is either side of the A23. What does anyone else think who lives locally ? - 2011-01-02 20:11 BorderCollies
- Yes, it seemed she moved a lot yesterday. Sightings order is South Nutfield, Redhill Common and then Wiggie Lane. When I talked to the lady who saw her around South Nutfield it actually turned out she was quite close to Redhill Aerodrome, so basically "at the back" of where I live. Really wondering where she sleeps.
- 2011-01-02 19:29 Kim
- Glad the posters are working for you BC. I think that fireworks have caused Eva to be on the move this much, though I would say that she will still cover a lot of ground, day to day, most likely evenings and mornings. From her journey yesterday, would the local people think she could be moving along the railway lines?
- 2011-01-02 18:40 digbysmum
- I agree Melanie. Yesterday's sightings would seem to be Whitepost Hill, then South Nutfield/Earlswood at 6.30 pm (not sure whether this was before or after the Whitepost Hill sighting), then Wiggie Lane at 11pm. If they were all Eva, it would appear that she is moving many miles very quickly. Hope she returns to the Gatton Park area - I think she may have moved on due to the fireworks. Stay safe Eva xx
- 2011-01-02 18:19 Melanie
- In regards to the last sighting at South Nutfield, to Earlswood , that is quite a few miles away from were she was seen at Wiggie Road, it seems Eva is walking many miles. I live near by and as always will keep an eye out for her, come on Eva

- Pleased that Eva has been spotted again. Wiggie Lane is slightly east of Gatton Park - not too far - but the A23 lies in between. Another worry is that the main London to Brighton railway line is quite closeby. Hope she circles around and finds her way back to Gatton Park. Am still without a car but plenty of family and friends are keeping an eye open. Stay safe Eva xx

- What a shame. Some misguided person probably thought that a wild animal was being trapped. Violet is probably the same type of collie as Eva, no interest in strangers, but very loving and loyal once they know a person. The trouble is getting near them, in this sad situation. Good luck to both teams. Dont worry that you dont know Violet's previous name, because Eva knows hers but unless she is convinced someone is calling that she knows, calling her name will make her run. Is it a good idea to call something different (other than her new name) once you do have their attention (like when you hear her jingley bell, and know she is listening). With Eva, it would be 'that'll do' to make her think. Or some other words that are familiar that she doesnt associate with running off after 2 months living rough.
- 2011-01-01 21:04 Ovelica
- I'm so glad Eva has been seen and have everything crossed for you that she is home soon. Violet hasn't been seen since Christmas Eve when someone vandalised one of the traps that she had been going near. So put us back now although we have heard her jingly collar no sight of her. You are lucky having a background on Eva we have none and it's all guess work on what her past was like such a shame we don't know more as we are her last hope. I can't say too much more about it all on a public domain. Anyway you are doing a fantastic job and if Violet is in first we'll come down and give you some help. Love and hugs to you x

- Had a drive round the Gatton Park/Wray Common area this afternoon, but unfortunately no sign of Eva. There would appear to be quite a few outbuildings in the park - good places for a dog to lie low in. Hope she is still in the area - the fireworks weren't too bad last night and didn't go on for too long. Stay safe Eva xx
- 2011-01-01 12:41 Kim
- Thank you for your kindness. Eva has three good homes waiting for her, and Violet has a good home waiting for her. These two dogs have generated a lot of care and interest. Unfortunately, they are a minority. There are so many dogs on dog lost that seem to be lost with no one looking for them. And have been found, with no one looking for them. It's a sad indication of our supposed dog-loving society. I knew that Eva was clever but she has not had a 'wild' upbringing, so to adapt to life in the wild as she has, says she is far too clever. For her own good. I hope its not too long for all the lost dogs, and I hope the found ones find special people.
- 2011-01-01 00:29 lisa
- Went out after sighting to try and find her but alas no sign of her, really wish she would stay somewhere long enough for us to catch her, just want her to be home safe and warm where she belongs now.

- I was so pleased to read there had been a sigting of Eva but would be even happier if she had been caught. Hopefully it will happen soon. It brought a tear to my eye to think of her herding the sheep and enjoying it and having to hide to feel safe in the park yet alone find food to eat. Life is cruel at times. Anyway we must stay positive. Happy new year may it bring us all happiness humans and canines. Liz xx

- Yes Ulla, well done. And not forgetting Jo who is beside herself that Eva has ended up in this situation.
- 2010-12-31 21:43 CorbiereW
- Ulla I think you are doing an absolutely admirable job, esp given you have not yet had time to bond with your dog. I know from the long search for Jetsie how demoralising it is to be waiting and waiting and baiting traps etc - and that was in early summer so in a comfortable temperature and with the helpful Golf Club at hand! Jetsie's situation was very similar - and though it took a long time he was eventually found so try not to be downhearted http://www.doglost.co.uk/dog_blog.php?dogId=12674
I think we can all see you are doing everything you can and in this weather it must be just awful. Wish I could help, too far away - but moral support you have in bucketloads XX - 2010-12-31 21:41 ESSJ - Area Co-ordinator Rutland

- Great that there was another sighting tonight. Gatton Park is obviously Eva's "shelter zone" which accounts for the sightings in Gatton Park Road, Wray Lane and Linkfield Lane (by the way, the sports centre is Donyngs). Afraid I can't go out looking tonight what with the New Year celebrations, but I will ask my daughter to drive me around the area tomorrow. I would assume that posters have been put up around Gatton Park? She probably lies low during the day but with possible fireworks tonight, she may hide-out and perhaps brave the daylight tomorrow. Another sighting would be good. Stay safe Eva xx
- 2010-12-31 20:50 Kim
- In response to Ovelica's earlier comment, I think these dogs are searching for their familiar life. I dont know if it is the same for Violet, but when Eva is safe, she is certainly welcome to stay with me in her familiar environment, to recover from her lengthy ordeal. To be where she feels safe and settled, where she knows the routine and the place, and she can be occupied with her main aim in life which is to work sheep. Once back in the familiar, she will not try to be free, believe me, she likes her comforts. Then, there is the luxury of time, something she isnt giving us now. I have told BC this before and think that she knows that I mean this. I would hope this is the same for Violet. Changing homes is enough stress for any dog, let alone after these sort of ordeals.

- BC, good luck with this recent sighting today. Wish I was there to help. The sighting in Axes Lane is more likely to be Alfie. Eva would never go up to a stranger and accept chocolate. The only way she will be caught by a stranger is an accidental catching (eg, gets shut in somewhere accidently) or by someone who is in the right place to build up her trust. That wont be easy, as she is moving about so much. And she will take some convincing if she saw me or Jo, people that she knows and trusts. She needs to be calm, smell us, and hear us. She does know whistles but it would have to be mine as collies respond very particularly to their own whistles. Not an easy task for anyone, given the situation
- 2010-12-31 20:07 ML
- Ah, hope that you can get someone there to have a look. xxx
- 2010-12-31 19:48 DebsAndGreg
- Fingers crossed you can get away!! Is there anyone close by who could go and look? Be a great start to the new year to get her home. Would love to help but we are too far away.
- 2010-12-31 19:38 BorderCollies
- I just had a phone call from somebody who just saw Eva. From what I could figure out, as he didn't know road names, Eva was on Gatton Park Road and then entering a drive leading to a National Trust site. I don't know exactly where the drive is he was talking, but I think I passed by it a few times when looking for Eva and it looks like the driveway to a rather posh house on Gatton Park Road, where a public footpath leads in to the park. Unfortunately I took a job for tonight so not sure I can get away, but looks like she is back in Gatton Park.
- 2010-12-31 18:34 BorderCollies
- Yes, sorry, that was meant to be Linkfield Lane. She said she leaves near a sports center???
I hope Eva stays safe tonight. - 2010-12-31 18:22 digbysmum
- BC, I assume this is Linkfield Lane - not Linkfield Street - which would make sense, as this is quite close to Wray Common, Batts Hill, Wray Lane and Gatton areas. There would be plenty of hiding places here for her. Hope she stays in this area. Stay safe Eva and lie low tonight xx
- 2010-12-31 17:10 DebsAndGreg
- Glad there has been another sighting. Hopefully there wont be too many fireworks tonight. Come on Eva time to make your way home now.
- 2010-12-31 15:14 BorderCollies
- Just had a phone call from a lady who probably saw Eva this morning at 3 am at Linkfield Road outside her house. Though this is not too far from Wray Lane it is now more towards Redhill. The lady promised to keep her eyes open in case she sees Eva again. I guess more postering is in order. Wondering if she still uses Wray Lane/Gatton Park as her "shelter zone" and just ventures out in the night for some food. Just when I thought she becomes predictable, she does something new again :-/
- 2010-12-30 18:50 digbysmum
- BC, there is a small piece on Eva in today's Surrey Mirror (no photo) - more or less a repeat on what was said before. Has your contact number, so here's hoping. The sighting in Axes Lane seems a bit iffy, especially as Eva was spotted in Sandcross Lane on the 24th December, which I would think is the more likely sighting. However, it would be great if she was back on home ground again. Still a bit worried about any fireworks which may be going off tomorrow night. Stay safe Eva xx
- 2010-12-30 16:13 BorderCollies
- Thanks Ovelica. My main problem is that I neither know where she is sleeping nor where she is most of the time. Though there have been quite a few sightings, I haven't seen her in ages :(
I will keep Wiccaweys advice in mind though as it might come in handy eventually. Thanks a lot and good luck with Violet. I check on her thread several times a day to see if she made it home yet.
I thought that if dogs ones experienced the "freedom" one has to keep a close eye on them for a while... - 2010-12-30 15:35 Ovelica
- Thank you for the posts on Violet's page. I had a chat with Wiccaweys who rescue the Irish Border Collies and they gave me the following advice for Violet so fingers crossed this might work for Eva too. Use a slip lead instead of her normal lead it might be easier to put around her neck or even a paw if you get close enough. Stay quiet when looking do not use a dog whistle unless she is used to it or in Violet's case even call her name (Violet does not know this name). Lying down and whimpering does not work. Bait trap with tinned cat food and leave some of it in the tin so that it is a challenge to get out or if you can bait the trap with fresh rabbit. Stay calm if you see her. If you have the time or can get some people to help you and you see her try to monitor times when you see her and the places she visits so you have an idea where she is sleeping so you can put the trap nearby. Try Be prepared to be bitten if she tries to get away when captured she may be so scared of it. The next bit was a bit blunt but here goes, some Collies like the open freedom so when she comes back be prepared that she may want to escape again. not sure if any of this helps but if you are like us we will try just about anything at the moment. Good Luck and stay strong x x

- I just had a phone call from a guy, who is a workman on Axes Lane / Mason bridge Road. He told me that he saw Eva on the 23rd or 24th of December (he said though probably the 23rd).
Anyway, the unusual thing of this sighting is that he said Eva came to them in the yard and she took a bar of chocolate from them and they gave her some water. He said that she was wearing a collar and with silver tag (could be the hook from the lead?).
Anyway, I was totally surprised that Eva would go up to somebody and take food out of their hand. Anyway, the guy was adamant that it was Eva, as one of her posters is right opposite where they work... Now I am totally confused (doesn't take much to achieve that) as to weather it really was Eva or not :-/ - 2010-12-29 22:46 Unknown
- Still thinking of Eva and Violet. Liz xx

- So pleased there was a sighting of Eva on Christmas Eve. This is quite close to me so I am keeping an eye out when I am out and about. Glad the snow and ice have at last cleared up, but afraid that my car is still off the road so am unable to drive myself around - very frustrating. Am a bit worried that any New Year fireworks may spook Eva again, and drive her further afield. Stay safe Eva, we are still looking for you xx

- Hi all. Im from 'Team Violet', helping to find Violet, a missing BC in the bedfordshire area right now. Our situations seem very very similar, and we are having some of the same issues as you. If you would care to read the posts on VIolet, any suggestions you have tried with Eva would be gratefully received - and vice versa.
The more brains thinking the better. Thanks all. x - 2010-12-28 20:06 Suziewoo
- Any news on Eva? I was getting so hopeful that she would be home by now. I keep asking other dog walkers if they have seen her & pointing them in the direction of the Doglost website. Everything crossed for her safe return. x

- Thank you Ambersky, it's such helpful quick reportings that will get Eva in the end. Trouble is, being a few hours behind her is still not enough to get closer. But it will sometime! I cannot quite believe what a madam she is being. She is a very loving loyal dog. Just doesnt like strangers. Or strange dogs. Far too clever too, as her survival in the wild is showing. If you get a good look at her face, she is distinctive so it seems that she is frequenting both the Priory Park and Gatton Park areas, probably eating from bins in the town at night, easier pickings than out in the quiet areas. It could be two different dogs, but I dont think so. The other distinctive behaviour is running away from any attention on her. Come on Eva. Thanks everyone, some of us would surely have gone a bit crazier without your support.Last edited: 2010-12-25 20:29:55 by Angus

- Went to Sandcross Lane, walked the fields, but nothing. Though there were plenty of pawprints, it seems a popular dogwalking area. There were not many people about today, surprise, surprise, but the few I met I talked to. Most saw the posters, but haven't seen Eva. I met a guy who is a postman, I gave him a poster, he promised to put up at the local sorting place.
I drove around Woodhatch and Park Lane, but again nothing. The small roads are still very icy, so had to avoid them. Theoretical, if my theory is working, she should have gone to Woodhatch, but she could well have gone back to Priory Park or stayed where she was seen.... Might take a couple of my dogs tomorrow and have a look around Priory Park and then the woody area above Woodhatch...
I am really surprised with all the posters up, that she isn't seen more often. - 2010-12-25 14:26 yipsey
- Come on Eva !!

I will go there today and have a look. Thanks again and merry Christmas.Last edited: 2010-12-25 08:09:46 by BorderCollies - 2010-12-25 01:27 ambersky
- Hi I was told and shown this page of Eva a few weeks ago by my friend who asked me to keep an eye out. Because I remembered the photo of her with her unmissable markings on her face, tonight about 2 hrs ago I saw her by the Reigate Garden centre on Sandcross lane. She had no one with her and her face was just exactly like the pic above. But as I got closer with the car she went into the fields behind garden center. I tried with my friend to see where she went with a torch. I hope seeing what people have written and the sightings of her that it was her! Just to let you that the left side of the garden center the fields are accessible to a point and thats where she headed. I'm sure it was her thats why I had to post something now, I will ask neighbours to keep a look out over the weekend. I thought I would let you know this info, hope this helps a littleLast edited: 2010-12-25 01:39:35 by ambersky

- Yes, Digbysmum, there seems a pattern to Eva's movement. It seems to be Gatton Park /Wary Lane, then Priory Park and possibly then Woodhatch, then back to Priory Park and off to Gatton Park...
Now I just have to figure out time frames and I might be able to be ahead of her for once :) - 2010-12-23 22:47 digbysmum
- Great that there have been a couple of new sightings of Eva. It would appear that she is sticking to the Woodhatch, Priory Park and Gatton areas. Haven't managed to drive around the last couple of days as my car is off the road - blasted weather again! Good that Eva is surviving this freezing weather - she is obviously finding enough food and somewhere warm to hide out. Once these icy conditions improve, and am mobile again, I will continue to look for her. Stay safe Eva xx

- Just got chatting to a dog owner at Earlswood Lakes & she saw a collie with a distinctive half white/half black face running past her very fast just inside the Park Lane East entrance to Priory Park at the end of last week. She stopped and asked someone nearby if it was their dog but they said it wasn't. She was concerned as there were no other people about. I know this isn't the recent sighting that we've been hoping for but I thought it worth mentioning as it may help you work out what route Eva is taking. Stay safe Eva xLast edited: 2010-12-23 16:24:27 by Suziewoo

- Pete rang me yesterday to tell me that his daughter saw Eva in Wray Lane on Sunday around noon time. With mholland's sighting it seems that she was in that area at the weekend. I will go back there today and try to find a place to park my car and walk in the park, but will check in Woodhatch too, just in case she is going back and forth between those 2 places. Maybe with lots of dog walkers and walkers out during the Christmas holidays we will have more sightings. Fingers crossed.Last edited: 2010-12-23 09:12:36 by BorderCollies

- Thank you :). I drove around today again to have a look. I saw the car park, but cannot stop there as I won't be able to get my car out as long as there is still snow.
I went to Reigate Hill Golf Course and dropped a poster of there too.
I rang Brian the reporter, but when he realised that I am the owner live locally, he was less enthusiastic to run a story. He said he will see what he can do, but cannot promise anything. He was concerned that if they run the story they would be swamped by people looking for missing pets :-/
- 2010-12-22 16:51 mholland25
- Hi BorderCollies, sorry for the late reply. I don't know if you found it today but there is a carpark right at the top of Wray Lane, if you park there then walk back out of the entrance to the carpark and crossover the road you are in Gatton Park and there should be a map to show you where to go. If you stick to the main path you can't really go wrong as it goes round in a big circle. The stables are back down at the bottom but there isn't anywhere to park. I went this morning but the fog was really bad and I didn't see anything. There is a cafe in the carpark so it might be worth asking there as well.

- One of the local TV news stations is Meridian Tonight. I have looked on the internet and have found the following email address - Email: Rajan@tvnewsroom.co.uk - I think this is the guy that deals with the different regions and he would be able to point you in the right direction. I could find no telephone number for this one. The other news station is London Tonight. The telephone number I have found for them is 0207 4304000. The email address I found is newsdesk@itvlondon.com - there is also the South Today News on BBC1 - I have found a telephone number of 02380 226201. The email address which I have found is south.today@bbc.co.uk - I really do hope that these can help you. The other place which you could try is The One Show on BBC 1 weekdays at 7pm. Their email address is theoneshow@bbc.co.uk - I was unable to find a telephone number. Eva had a mention on Eagle Radio this morning. What are the local TV stations, sorry, I rarely watch TV... - 2010-12-21 12:48 DebsAndGreg

- Hope the Surrey Mirror prints the article. For some reason (probably the weather) we don't seem to get the Redhill and Reigate Life free paper any more, but have looked at their website and they don't appear to have printed your story. Might be worth another try. Will have another drive around today - the roads seem to be ok at the mo. Stay safe Eva and keep warm xx

- Hi, just to let you know I saw a black and white Collie in Gatton park this morning. I didn't get a good look at it as it was running and I was trying to get hold of my dog (she is a bit of a chaser). I didn't immediately see an owner but as I walk in the direction the dog went I did see a walker but the dog had gone, so it could of been hers but unfortunately she was too far ahead of me to catch up with. It was in Gatton park right behind the stables at the end of the track at about 11/11:30am. I know this might not be much help but I thought I should let you know and I will keep a look out. Fingers crossed!

- BC, think you'll have a long wait before it thaws! The side roads were treacherous this afternoon after the blizzard - I do hope Eva has managed to find a nice warm barn somewhere as the temperatures are well below freezing tonight. Wish this would clear and we can get on with the search. Stay safe Eva xx

Too keep positive is the most difficult thing. Today I got stuck on an icy road while looking for Eva. Have to organise now how to get the car back or wait until it thaws...
Thanks again for all the help I am receiving, especially with postering :) - 2010-12-17 17:07 Ovelica
- Please stay positive, me and my husband are going through the same thing as you with a our foster dog Violet we only had her 24 hours when she escaped out of our car. It's heartbreaking we know it is and hell on earth at times so exhausting mentally and physically searching, bbq in the snow postering etc. With Violet she doesn't know her name and won't come to us as she is nervous also we do see her and so do the fantastic people of Doglost who help so much with us like you it's the trap that will work I'm sure it will. Never forget you are not on your own stay strong if you want to call me for a shoulder to cry on my number is on Violet's poster. Take care and Eva and Violet will be back in our homes soon x x

- The trap is still in place, but I closed it when she was in Reigate. Might be worth opening again... No events coming up now for a while.
- 2010-12-16 22:22 Kim
- I wouldnt be surprised if she turns up on the circle around Honeycrock farm. Is the dog trap still up there? Will there be a noisey event soon?

- I know it must b so hard Ulla but try and remain positive. It was only 3 days ago she was seen on the footpath in the morning so mayb she has been restin up in the day and comin out 4 a wander at nite wen quiet. Sometime very soon she will b seen again i am sure and u will get that all important call u r waiting for. The weather is turning again but eva has been through it before and come out the other side just fine . . But lets hope she soon decides she fancies her home comforts again and gives herself up. I follow her page every day and she is never far from my thoughts. Keep strong Ulla and stay safe precious eva . . Its time for you to come home. Julie xLast edited: 2010-12-16 21:04:08 by Julie B

- Thanks Digbysmum. Somehow I just don't think that Eva is the sort of dog giving herself up. Especially if people who saw her tell me that she looks quite well.
When it has gone quiet in an area it always seems that she has moved on. She was first seen in Woodhatch Friday night and last Monday morning... Maybe she just thought it is time to move on, as she has done before, the problem is just to know where to, until I get the next sighting. All Reigate and Redhill will be postered soon ;-)
I just wish she would stay long enough in an area for us to start feeding her.... I drove round Woodhatch, Reigate and Salfords today, but didn't see her either. Things is, it is too busy during day time and you can hardly see anything in the night.
I was so positive about the sightings in Woodhatch, but now I am back to square one, it seems... :( - 2010-12-16 18:54 digbysmum
- Driven around the Hornbeam Road estate a few times in the last few days, but unfortunately no sign of Eva. She probably lies low during the day, especially with the school children coming and going. Hope she is still in the area, but worried about her now that the weather is turning bad again. Come on Eva, time to give yourself up xx
- 2010-12-16 09:55 BorderCollies
- No, nothing Julie. Which makes me believe she must have moved on to somewhere else, where there are no posters. I will try to put posters up in areas next to where she was last seen and hope for more sightings.

Where are you leaving them exactly? I might watch for her on google live earth (if only you could). - 2010-12-14 20:36 BorderCollies
- Went back tonight with more posters and another BBQ, the sausages from yesterday were gone, but then in is a public footpath and I am sure there are plenty of cats and other dogs and probably foxes about. I left the sausages behind again... More postering tomorrow...

- Hello, that would make sense as Eva was spotted on the Croyden Road heading towards where you say, on the 3rd December. Seems she made her way back to around Reigate school now, that was early yesterday morning. I think that the printing cartridges in Reigate will be running out soon, with all the posters trying to keep up with her. Thanks everyone.

- Hi BorderCollies, I just wanted to let you know that a couple of weeks ago I think I saw Eva (a dog very like her photo with a bit of rope still attached to her collar) standing in a driveway on Wray Lane, I was concerned as I couldn't see an owner but couldn't pull over as there were cars behind me and it is a single track road, I was hoping she belonged to that house as there wasn't anything I could do. I saw your poster today and realised that it was probably her, I am keeping a look out for her, and just wanted to say she looked fine, wish I could have stopped and i'm really hoping that with all these positive sightings that it won't be long before she turns up. Have you tried putting leaflets through the doors on that road? Another thought I had was mentioning it to the Royal Alexandra school as the grounds are near that road and there are a lot of people who work there who could look out for you. I'm keeping everything crossed for you and will mention her to other dog walkers I know so we can all keep a look out x
- 2010-12-14 14:16 BorderCollies
- I got a phone call today, nothing exciting, a lady called saying she saw Eva on the 4th of December heading towards Priory Park. She said that Eva looked very well, clean and fed.
Makes a bit weird... Anyway, it seems of no real consequence today, unless she still picks Priory Park as a hideout.
What a shame we didn't know this 2 weeks ago :(
Nothing new otherwise today so far. - 2010-12-14 09:53 CampK9
- BorderCollies, if you need some extra search power in the evenings then we may be able to help. As mentioned we walk dogs during the day so we keep our eyes out for her but we're based on Royal Earlswood Park so very local. info@camp-k9.co.uk

- Pete was kind enough to go out tonight with me and show me all the exits from the woody area... Far too many for liking... Theoretically she could go back to Reigate. I hope she doesn't. We concentrated on the exit she was seen today and had a little BBQ there and left the sausages behind. We managed to get a cat interested in the food, but no Eva.. Yet anyway. I realised I need to put up many more posters over the next day, especially on the other side of the woody bit.
Thanks again Pete, your help is invaluable :) My warmest regards to your wife.:) - 2010-12-13 21:02 DebsAndGreg

- Gosh I'm holding my breath here! There are a lot of people with dogs in that area i used to meet with a lot when i walked at Earlswood Lakes between 8 and 9 am. If you haven't already done so do go and talk to the ground staff at Redhill and Reigate Golf Club they are a nice bunch and spend plenty of time out and about. The course is actually on Earlswood Common where the lakes are and continues over the other side of the A23. Stay safe Eva x Time to give yourself up now!

- Just had a first phone call from the posters, a young woman saw Eva this morning running in the woods along the footpath.
- 2010-12-13 16:03 BorderCollies
- I went back and put up some posters and putting leaflets into people letterboxes. I wasn't aware how many houses there are.
Some of the houses back right onto the footpath and some of the fences were broken. I managed to talk to some people and left the others with leaflets. I went up the footpath and have to agree the woody place would be a great place to hide. The path was closed today, but it looks fairly quiet and away from people :) - 2010-12-13 13:22 Helen - Regional Co-ordinator - Norfolk, Suffolk and Cambridge
- Brilliant news there has been some sightings! I have been checking on Eva's page since she went missing, you are all doing a brilliant job and I am praying Eva will give herself up very soon xxx

- Brilliant news - especially if she has now lost her lead, was worried in case she had been caught up somewhere. The footpath referred to I believe leads alongside the grounds of Canon Insurance. Might be worth giving them a ring to alert them to keep an eye out. Hope she stays in this area - not too far from me, so I will have another drive around later. Sorry I can't help with the postering etc. - no printer and not too good on my legs at the mo. Stay safe Eva xx

Do you think that it would be worth while moving the trap and providing food for her in that area. If so you have my number and I can help move it. - 2010-12-13 11:20 peewee415

- What an exciting morning I already had.
I got a phone call this morning that Eva was seen on the fields of Reigate School. When I arrived there, I couldn't find her. I saw some of her pawprints though. The lady who called me said that Eva entered the fields through a hole in the fence from somebody's garden on Hornbeam Road. I took the back exit from the school fields which leads onto a car park of a church. I asked there if they have seen her and they did. She came from the school fields and walked across their drive into the road )not such a busy road) Here her trail went cold. I talked to a few people and asked if they have seen her, one elderly gentleman said that he didn't see her just now, but saw her yesterday morning in his garden. Exiting then towards Earlswood.
Then strange enough I met the guy again who called me on Sunday and he said, I should try walking up the footpath just before Hornbean Road meets Woodhatch Road again, as he said the footpath leads into a quite a large woody area, which goes all the way back to Reigate.
I will go there later today and I need to put lots of posters up in the residential area behind and around the school. I am thinking as well to make a small leaflet, where I would like to explain to people what to do in case they see her in their garden.
I am so glad we had several confirmed sightings now and that she is still around.
It seems that she lost her lead and maybe her collar too. She is not dragging that behind anymore. - 2010-12-13 08:24 BaileyP

- Hi, we are professional dogwalkers in the RH1 area and we have been keeping our eyes out for Eva over the last couple of weeks. Given that she had been in the area for such a short time is it still likely she is around and if so what are the current most likely areas?

- Drove around the Earlswood Lakes, Petridge Woods and Redhill Common areas, but sadly, no sign. As sightings seem to take place after dark, it would appear that Eva is lying low during the day. Am out again tomorrow, so will have another drive around locally. Come on Eva, show yourself.

I've just posted this to my facebook page as my son goes to St John's School which is just up the road & we know quite a few local dog walkers. I will put a poster up near the school where the dog walkers meet. Really hope it was her & that she is still safe.Last edited: 2010-12-12 14:34:09 by Suziewoo

- There was a possible sighting last Friday 8pm close to Reigate School, Woodhatch. A man rang me and told me that he saw a black and white Border Collie walking towards the park on Woodhatch Lane. He said that he only saw one side of the collie and that the collie had a white face on that side. He was surprised that there was no owner around and just saw my posters today. I will meet him later for him to show me exactly where he saw the dog in question and to show him the other picture of Eva, which shows her side. If it is Eva, at least she didn't drift further north, but still seems to hang around local'ish...

- I went out tonight and met Pete and we looked together for Eva. Thanks Pete for the tour of Reigate, I know now much better what is where and how it is connected. It was fairly busy tonight, so I will probably a late night mid week or Sunday night. Found a few more areas that needs postering, the job for the next few days.
Thanks again for your help Pete. It was very much appreciated! - 2010-12-10 18:19 BorderCollies

- Have you put a poster up at Earlswood Lakes? I used to stick them on the side of the toilets in the main Car Park, lots of people travel to the Lakes to walk their dogs, if the mobile food man is still there I'm sure he will display a poster for you, the taxi drivers all seem to stop off for their food as it is a good place to park up. Sorry I can't help anymore now I live in Norfolk!

- Hello, home for Eva is definately in the north of England. With the uncanny ability that dogs have to get home, I have always believed that she would drift northwards. Unfortunately, London is north of Surrey, so she isnt going to get very far towards home. So it's difficult to predict any direction, hence the sightings are so important. Thanks for driving around.
- 2010-12-09 23:11 digbysmum
- Drove around Flanchford, Reigate Heath and Wray Common areas this afternoon, but sadly, no sign of Eva. Where is she? A new sighting is what we need. Would she still remember her home, I wonder, after having only lived there for one day. I will keep searching.

- I must be desperate. I wrote emails with Eva's story to Chris Evans and Paul O'Grady. I know both are dog / animal lovers.
I know that Chris Evans' show is lighthearted, so don't expect them to bring anything. But nothing ventured, nothing gained. - 2010-12-08 20:33 Xenas Mum - Area Volunteer, Norfolk

- Yes, the sighting was last week. I sent her story to the paper, I hope they will bring it :)
I too hope that she is still in Reigate, but as long as we have no further sighting, it is hard to say :( - 2010-12-08 19:36 digbysmum
- Definitely worth a try. They seem to be animal friendly, and have often run items on missing dogs/cats. I assume the sighting you refer to was last Tuesday and not yesterday? Would be nice if she was still in the Priory area, as there are many fields nearby, leading to the surrounding areas such as Reigate Heath, Flanchford, Leigh, etc. Would be lovely if she was circling round and making her way back home! Will have a drive round this area tomorrow. Better that she's in this area rather than Merstham, as this is so near to the motorway.

- Thanks Digbysmum. Never heard of the paper, but will give them a call. :) or drop an email, or both.
I just had a call from a lady who saw Eva on Tuesday afternoon. I know it was before the last sighting, but thought I mention it nevertheless. Eva was running down Park Lane quite close to Priory Park.
Haven't heard anything else unfortunately :( - 2010-12-08 11:48 digbysmum
- BorderCollies, it might be worth contacting the local Redhill Reigate and Horley Life newspaper (01273544544 e-mail editorial@lifenewspapers.co.uk), who might be interested in Eva's story. This is a weekly paper and is widely distributed locally. I think it's certainly worth a try, and we need to find her soon.

- I have found the garden centres extremely helpful with posters and their boards close to entrances or exits and right now they are so busy and people travel in from all over the place. I still think we should concentrate below the M25 as Kim has said she does not like traffic at all and given the choice she will avoid the noise. Going to give East Grinstead area a splattering. Is there anybody who can cover Ashtead Forest way? She may not be that far but if we can hopefully jump ahead of her and squeeze inwards. Radio a good idea, problem with papers takes a week before next issue and there are localised. However, if anybody has a contact!! a national would be really good. She could have circled around at Merstam back to Hatchgatge/Reigate and headed out on Dorking road, again plenty of farm land open fields. Can anyone slip a poster or two out this way, the garden centres on A25 etc?

- Thank you everyone. The dog warden for Reigate & B is aware, she mentioned contacting the other dog wardens once we think Eva may have moved on. With 4 days since her last sighting, I will contact her and get further advice and contacts. Its very heartwarming, the number of people putting up posters, etc, to help us with our predicament. I can target the vets and petshops, etc further around that Croyden road area. U, would it be the same newspaper as last time? Are there any other local newspapers? have you done adverts in them? And the local radio? Thanks

- From Reigate Eva could have gone in any direction and a number are quite unpopulated. In order to get to the whole area I think you need to start putting adverts in the local papers or better still get a reporter to do a story on her. Get posters out to all vets within a 10 mile radius and try to get them to pet shops and Supermarkets as well. Eva is micro chipped so when she does decide to give herself up she will be reunited with you but if you can keep the word out there you will hopefully get some news of where she is going. xxxx

- Lisa / Pete it sounds like you are doing a fabulous job with those posters, I’m trying to think of all the places around there as I have searched for many a lost dog in that area!
There is Reigate College which is in Castlefield Road very close to the Castle Grounds but also they have a place in Redhill Opposite the end of Croydon Road. (I think that is the Adult Education bit).
The kiosk at Reigate Hill car park is very dog friendly and will display a poster for you (you often find the Dog Warden, RSPCA and Highways Agency meeting up there having a cuppa, it is also an AA, RAC etc cuppa place as there are toilets!!) and if you go up Wray lane to get there you will see a place on the right where dog walkers access the back of Gatton Park a poster there would be really good!
Fannys Farm you have already identified .. they are also very dog friendly and will happily display a poster for you.
Moving on up Reigate Hill The Sportsman pub at Mogador are very helpful and dog friendly in fact this is the place where many people take their dogs especially at weekends and Bank Holidays a run on the Heath and then lunch in the pub! A very good place to spread the word about Eva!
If you already know all this then I am sorry to be preaching but it only takes one poster in the right place to bring a dog home
Sorry I no longer live in the area to help you but I am willing Eva home, however long it may take.
Stay safe lovely Eva xxx

- We put more posters out in Rocky Lane, which is part of Gatton, Went to Reigate Hill Golf Club and they are going to put a poster on there notice board and then extended the area slighty by going to Fannys Farm Shop which is in Markedge Lane and very popular.

- Friends of mine were so kind to drive around Croydon Road all afternoon and going down the small lanes too. They told me they spoke to the National Trust Warden of Gatton Park and he promised to keep his eyes open.
I am so grateful to all the people helping out.
My friends reported that there were lots of posters down Croydon Road (thanks Pete) and that they put some up in the small lanes. Let's hope for a sighting now. - 2010-12-04 16:28 Unknown
- Just googles Gatton Park, it is lovely. I know you said not to get to hung up on the bridges but there are some in the park. There is one in the rock and water garden and one in the orchard. Oh this is so frustrating not having any sightings.

- I am going to put some more posters up at Gatton & Battlebridge area in a mo. Pete
- 2010-12-04 13:58 Kim
- Thank you for putting posters up, it means a real lot. I left a message at the school, as it was an answer phone. Please everyone, dont get hung up on bridges. Eva is curling up somewhere she feels safe, and moving on constantly, and eating where she can. She is not stopping in one area so any bridges are past history. She was heading towards the Gatton Park area, unless she has veered off in another direction. But I think that area may be an area to head her off. A sighting can change that, or confirm it. Many many thanks to everyone.Last edited: 2010-12-04 13:59:38 by Kim

- The Animal Communicator could possibly have been referring to when Eva was in the castle grounds, as the old gateway arched entrance to the castle grounds gardens is surrounded by trees and shrubs and is quite close to the station. However, it seems that she has now moved on. If she was headed along Croydon Road towards Merstham, let's hope she has headed into Gatton Park where there is a lot of fields and woodland. From there she could possible make it to Reigate/Colley Hill. Will try and have a drive around this afternoon, if the roads are not too icy. Stay safe Eva x

If she has moved on it might be useful to put posters up in Merstham too.
It is hard to say from looking at Google Maps, which area she would be most likely to stay. I hope I will make it over there latest tomorrow and might check in Reigate too. ( My driveway is still very snowy and icy)
Thanks all for your help. Couldn't do this without you all :) - 2010-12-04 12:21 Unknown

- Hi Ulla. Put posters whole length of croydon road, left poster in the pub called the panther, spoke to a few people on the road, drove up and down several times very late last night, put several posters on wray common, walked around the castle grounds did not see any paw prints in the snow up there at all. Will be walking around the footpaths of wray common road as its close to the railway and quite a wooded area in places. Pete

- Was hoping for a sighting but I agree without sigtings it is hard to know whether she is sticking to the same route or not. Maybe she will show herself again in the next 24 hours. xx
- 2010-12-04 11:24 Suziewoo
- There weren't any trains running for the past few days so it would have been quiet near most railway bridges/tunnels. Is anyone able to check around Colley Lane, near the rugby club? There is a bridge over the railway lines there and stables nearby. I know it is away from Croydon Road but it is the only place I can think of that maybe fits the description.
- 2010-12-04 10:51 Kim
- Well said, your last comment, Ulla. It is difficult to predict her movements. But the lastest sighting is everything, and the last one gave a direction. Now 24 hours have gone, and we need more sightings. The only way is to focus on the area around the last sighting, not too far away. I have had a word with shoot the owner, and putting Eva's details on biggsd site, will email you the details. Focusing on stables and kennels near Croydon Road first, going further away with time.
- 2010-12-04 10:20 BorderCollies
- Might be more sensible to get up and down Croydon Road and put some more posters up. But as long as we don't know where she is gone from her last sighting it is difficult to pinpoint where she is now, especially if she only moves nights and early mornings.

- I got some more from the Animal Communicator, who by the way came recommended to me, as she has helped before getting pets back. Take it with a pinch of salt... I won't just look for what she described, but if I come across something which looks similar I will definitely investigate.
"I feel she is definately still in the Reigate area, she's showing me a bridge, she's sleeping under a bridge possibilly an old railway bridge. There's trees and bushes around the enterance to the bridge or tunnel. She has been close to the train line at some point because she's telling me she had to move on because she doesn't like the noise. Where she is she can hear the trains but it's not loud. She says people have tried to catch her but she's afraid of strangers. She's cold and looking a bit tatty but she's had some food and is drinking the melted snow. She is hungry though and i think that might be the best way to get her. Or another dog that she knows. She said she ran and ran to get away from the noise and then she was lost."
If anybody knows the area and can think of anywhere this description could fit, let me know :)
It seems the snow is melting now, but there is still loads left. At least we might be able to get out eventually.
Let's hope for a new sighting. - 2010-12-04 07:59 PaulaK

- I just had an offer from somebody to put posters up on Croydon road tonight. So hopefully, this area will be covered and if she moves along there we get feedback.
I had a first reply from the Animal Communicator and just copy and paste the relevant bits in here:
"I'm getting Reigate (I don't know where you live now so not sure if this is a possibility at all) she's showing me a bridge where she is sheltering. She is definately alive, cold and hungry but okay. Did she have a collar I'm getting rainbow colors around her neck and also feel she has something caught up around her collar unless it's a lead (did she have her lead on when she disappeared?)" - 2010-12-03 16:58 Kim
- Dont know exactly, she was heading towards Merstham, was thinking she would keep going right along maybe to where the road turns into Gatton Park Road. There are lots of fields there, the golf club is somewhere in there. There is a school, and a few houses. And a wood. Trying to get ahead of her. Of course, she could just get lost in the streets if something frightens her away from Croyden road into the side roads. No reply at golf club which isnt really surprising!

It is not known exactly where she was but she was still in a built up area. Can anyone get posters up along the Croyden road, or is travelling still really bad? I will contact the golf course there, and anything else I can think of from here.

- And I expect Jo could do the same, Eva will definately recognise her house smell.
- 2010-12-03 11:41 Kim
- I shall try to do that then. As soon as I am on the road again. Before I thought you were after Eva smells. I would expect that my hoovers contents will contain a lot of debris from my garden where the dogs live. Eva knows me and my three girls, if it is for the human smells. It could help to ground her. Would it be an idea to hoover the back of my car where the dogs travel, would that be better? I presume I filter out the larger items?

- for scenting we can use hoover contents as dust is made up mainly of human skin cells which the dogs will be able to smell even though we cannot - it is always difficult when a dog has been recently rehomed as they may not be fully accustomed to their new owner so could be worth a try - the contents are then mixed with a little water and scattered carefully near sightings as an added inticement to her now that she seems to have moved areas it will be difficult to drag the dog bed in a town centre scenario although this would work where she went missing originally
- 2010-12-03 10:40 Kim
- Why hoover contents in particular? Whilst Eva was a house dog for 18 months, she wasnt full-time for the last six months. I am sure she would recognise our smell, but is it that they are good to use for a particular reason? When the roads are clear, I can do that if required. The smelliest item that we came up with before was Eva's dog bed, well used by my other dogs after she had gone missing. Its pretty smelly now, especially now its been outside in the trap. Can that not be dragged, it will smell of my car, which is a safe haven to Eva?

- I contacted an animal communicator. Maybe it will be helpful...
- 2010-12-03 08:22 Angus
- Kim, would it be possible for you to send some packages containg the contents of your hoover bag down when you can get to a post office ? this would enable BC to be able to do some scenting in your absence if they can find some where that looks like it may be a den

- Hello Nina, unfortunately I am in North Yorkshire, and snowed in. We scented areas a few weeks ago, and hopefully, that can be arranged again when the weather clears and if she is sighted regularly in an area. She also knows the whistling of a shepherds whistle. If she was near sheep, I could arrange a friend to come and work them. But it needs carefully setting up.
- 2010-12-02 20:23 Nina
- Has the previous owner been asked to scent the area to see if that helps get her home.
- 2010-12-02 20:09 DebsAndGreg
- Fingers & Paws crossed for some good news soon.

- Am trying to get a poster to Gayton Vets for you! Hope you get another sighting soon
- 2010-12-02 18:50 BorderCollies
- Was just told the poster is up in the Pet Shop.
- 2010-12-02 18:41 Kim
- It was just a joke to keep the spirits up when faced with a seemingly impossible scenario.
- 2010-12-02 18:37 Angus
- can i just clarify that darting and sedating food is not an option - this can only work when then animal is in an enclsed area or a desert type scenario where the animal can be tracked easily - Eva is staying alive due to the fact her wits are clear and she is a canny dog - blurring those wits could be fatal for her as we do not know where she is holing up.
- 2010-12-02 18:15 Kim
- Hey, that's not a bad idea. Anyone know any safari vets? Eva's collar is multi-coloured, bog standard type. Would come apart at the catch if under any real strain. I understand that U's lead is blue. Hopefully designed to latch on to something so someone can catch her. The support is really amazing, everyone here knows how special dogs are. And Eva is. It is very difficult to look for her at night. I felt the same when I was down there, I had my girls with me in a B & B. A friend has offered us a room for next time, so might be able to go out in the night then. But impossible to go anywhere in this weather.
- 2010-12-02 18:09 BorderCollies
- The lead was a navy blue, like the "report/ edit button" on the right. I can imagine it is slightly darker now. The lady who saw her Tuesday night said it looked a bit frazzled. Her collar is several neon colours. The lead is attached to the collar.
- 2010-12-02 17:59 digbysmum
- Ha ha, that's a good idea. I would come and keep you company!
- 2010-12-02 17:57 digbysmum
- BorderCollies, I keep meaning to ask what colour and type of lead she is wearing, and is this attached to a collar (if so, what colour) or is a slip lead she's wearing?
- 2010-12-02 17:56 BorderCollies
- Not much one can do with this weather, Digbysmum :(
Wish I had one of those tranquilizer guns, then I would wait for her a whole night and could "knock" her out and take her home... - 2010-12-02 17:51 BorderCollies
- Yes, the 4 am sighting was prior to the late night sighting. The lady who saw her at 4am promised to keep looking for her early in the morning and I instructed her in what to do when she sees her, that under no circumstances she should call her and maybe have some tasty treats at the ready. The main problem really is that people want to catch her (understandably) which then always scares her away and seems to make her even more weary of people. I find the support of the "doggy" community amazing.
- 2010-12-02 17:38 digbysmum
- Feel so frustrated that I cannot get out and help with the search for Eva. Just wish this snow would hurry up and go away! I assume that the 4 am sighting on Tuesday was prior to her being seen at the Castle Grounds? Hope so, as this means that she is making her way towards the two parks and away from the railway. Couldn't stop thinking about her last night, out in all this atrocious weather. Do hope she is holed up somewhere and managing to keep herself warm. Come on Eva, time to give yourself up! Will help again with the search once this awful weather improves.
- 2010-12-02 17:31 BorderCollies
- Kim, I talked to lots of dog walkers yesterday. But if she is out in the night, they won't spot her. I met a fellow Agility person yesterday and left some posters with her, as she works for the council and will ask her to drop a poster off at the pet shop, as she lives around the corner from there :)
- 2010-12-02 17:20 BorderCollies
- I had another phone call today from a lady who saw Eva Tuesday morning at 4am near the station in Reigate. She stopped the car to have a look, and Eva hesitated for a minute, but then went on. It seems that Eva just comes out now in the night/ early morning to scavenge for food. Now with the snow and the trains not always working I guess less people are out and about at that time of day.
- 2010-12-02 13:19 Kim
- Just rang the Cats whiskers and cant email him a poster as he doesnt have an email. Will stick a poster in the post, if someone can drop one off quicker, thats brill but maybe the post will be quicker! Will call do a search on local vets.
- 2010-12-02 13:10 Kim
- Not good in the snow with a vehicle, let alone without. The Reigate dog warden rang me back this morning, she was very positive, and reiterated that again posters are required in the area of the new sighting, and hopefully we will get regular sightings there. She will keep a good look out, and use all her contacts. Many appreciative thanks to all who are helping U with this hard work. The dog warden said that she had great faith in the www.doglost.co.uk network. We need fellow dog walkers to keep an eye out for Eva, but she will run from anyone with a dog. If she runs, she will keep running. If she is calm and stops to look, then someone is getting her attention. Calling her name will make her run. I think you are right U, that exhaustion will help her to give up to someone. If you go out tonight U, dont go on your own. Your safety is important, and you dont need to be slipping on the ice. I think we have to rely on regular sightings in one area, give her food to keep her there, and gradually someone will gain her trust. If she keeps moving on, then it is much harder to keep up with the posters, so its back to the radio and sunday mirror. Its the same as we have been doing, but we are much closer, and one day, she will be caught, somehow. At least in the town, if she gets snagged by her lead, someone will see her and catch her. It is positive that she is alive.
- 2010-12-02 12:58 PaulaK
- apparently there is a pet shop opposite priory park called the cats whiskers - worth a call, they are very helpful in there
- 2010-12-02 12:35 BorderCollies
- Thank you Bridget. I hope that Eva stays safe with all this snow. Maybe she gets so exhausted that she gives up? :-/
- 2010-12-02 00:04 BaileyP
- Forgot to say that Reigate was shown on the news as being a particularly snow bound place today. Reporter there for a while showing how bad the snow is in that area.
- 2010-12-02 00:03 BaileyP
- Take care of yourself Ulla in the cold and dark. Don't put yourself at risk too. Really wish I was nearer to help.
- 2010-12-01 23:55 BorderCollies
- Forgot to mention, I walked the Castle Grounds in the evening and it is very quiet there. There are 2 empty buildings, but I couldn't find anywhere where a dog could hide.
- 2010-12-01 23:54 BorderCollies
- I just managed to get home, there were no taxis available anymore, so I had to walk.
There was no sign of Eva, but when I left at about 9:30pm it was quieter, but still lots of people about. If she is still in the area and not being pushed further away, she might come out much later, when people actually went home. I was surprised to find kids still doing snowball fights in the evening in the park. One of the ladies I met mentioned that, if you travel cross country you could be from Salfords in Reigate in 15 minutes. Though I don't believe that Eva will come back here. Next time I go to Reigate it makes more sense to go late in the evening, after about 9 and probably stay until midnight or longer. But with the heavy snowfalls there is only so much time you can spend outside without getting too cold and wet. Sorry I don't have any better news :( - 2010-12-01 21:30 Julie B
- Is there anymore news on Eva - cant stop thinking about her ? Julie x
- 2010-12-01 18:56 Julie B
- I so hope that Eva shows herself again tonight. You are doing everything you could possibly do to find her. Keep yourself warm out there as it is so cold. I am sure something positive will come out of all this and Eva will be home very soon. Stay safe Eva. Julie x
- 2010-12-01 16:52 BorderCollies
- Thanks Kim. I talked to the dog warden this morning. She had no suggestions and couldn't be of any help as snowed in. I met some Agility people who promised me to help me look for her once it is quieter. Then at least there are a few more of us. I am wondering if she is staying or moving on. There is plenty of food around for her here from restaurants and people throwing away their fast food. I really hope we see her tonight.
- 2010-12-01 16:33 Kim
- Good luck U, I think she is noctural. Sorry to hear your car is off the road. Nightmare for you. Keep warm. She is really not used to towns and has landed there because she runs from everyone. I wonder if she is moving, or staying there. Good at scavenging, I am sure, but only when it is quiet. Just to let you know, I rang the council offices this morning and reported that she has been spotted nearby and asked them to look out for her, and for the dog warden to ring me, and yourself, to be updated on this recent sighting that is right on her doorstep. Please please let there be more sightings so we know exactly where she is. I got lost in Reigate so know that circular bit of road quite well. Lots of luck, and please let me know if I can do anything from here, like ring the surrounding businesses and houses to let people know she is about.
- 2010-12-01 16:24 BorderCollies
- I am still in Reigate. It is very busy here today. I don't think she will come out as long as it is so busy. Last night she was seen around 10pm, when it was quiet. I might just stay here until it is quiet and walk around. The Castle Grounds is amazingly quiet. Priory Park was very busy today with people going sledding and with dog walkers. Otherwise it would be an ideal hideout for her with woods and a lake. I met some amazingly nice and supportive dog walkers, who all promised to look out for her. Putting up posters in the town center is slightly difficult, as there is hardly anywhere to put them up. I hope Eva shows herself tonight. I am ready with mince meat, sausages and sardines. Wish me luck.

- Hi I lived in Earlswood until last May but have moved to Norfolk. Quite a few years ago I knew a guy who drove the Mayor around and he lived in a cottage in the castle grounds .. it would be worth trying to contact whoever lives there now .... might be a good place to put a trap if she is hanging around there.
- 2010-12-01 14:45 digbysmum
- Sorry that I couldn't get out today. My daughter walked through the Castle grounds lunchtime, but unfortunately no sign of Eva. I have alterted several friends who walk their dogs in the Priory daily, so fingers crossed! Will try and get out tomorrow to have a look round. - The area by the Council offices is a small park more or less in an island of the one way system running round Reigate. There is an enclosed garden area where she could be sheltering and there are bins along the path for scavenging. The path/step leads down to High Str. Priory Park is close by as suggested and Morrisons could attract her because of the food as M's are close by the park. Lots of people and food places around there, know this area well but snowed in how frustrating and worrying
- 2010-12-01 10:50 Angus
- might be worth getting yourself some fish and chips with lots of salt and vinegar and siting near to where she was spotted - the smell may draw her out x
- 2010-12-01 10:40 BorderCollies
- I talked to the people again who saw her last night and it seems that she might be hanging around "food"places like restaurants etc to scrounge some food. The people actually said she didn't run back into the park, but into a road and I am just wondering if she maybe hides out in somebody's garden etc... Will try to get a taxi over there today, I hope those still work. Typical, waiting 2 weeks for a sighting and then we are all housebound due to the weather.

- Thank you.I will try to get over there tomorrow too, but at the moment we are quite snowed in.
- 2010-11-30 23:32 digbysmum
- The other park is Priory Park - quite a big area with plenty of hiding places and a large lake. Further away from the town traffic too. Will have a good drive around tomorrow, weather permitting.
- 2010-11-30 23:24 BorderCollies
- Thanks Digbysmum. Yes, the weather doesn't help. Thought about contacting the Dogwarden and asking for help. Will do that first thing tomorrow morning. AT least I know she is still alive...

- Sorry, meant the other park is slightly more south.

- Was just about to post when I saw yours, BorderCollies. So pleased Eva has been sighted. I am just south of Reigate at Woodhatch, but if this awful weather continues overnight, I probably won't be able to search tomorrow, but I will do my best. My daughter works in that area and have asked her to keep a lookout. Hope she keeps away from the railway, which is quite closeby. Might be worth contacting the R & B Dog Warden again if she's in Reigate, and the local vets are Priory Vets, in Evesham Road, Reigate. Stay safe Eva, and please allow yourself to be caught soon x
- 2010-11-30 23:15 BorderCollies
- Here is a screenshot of the place in Reigate she was seen. As you can see it is just a small park in the middle of town. There is a slightly bigger park further north (not on this picture) She was last seen running back into the park at the area of the Council offices.

- Keep positive Ulla. Everyone is keeping their fingers crossed that you will get Eva home safely. On the subject of smelly food someone trying to trap Violet suggested smelly sardines. Looks as though she has moved away from the trap area but may be useful if you use the trap again.
- 2010-11-30 23:01 BorderCollies
- I just got a phone call of a sighting of Eva. According to this lady Eva is in the middle of Reigate. She saw her in the Castle park. I am not very familiar with Reigate, so had to look it up. The lady said that Eva's lead was still attached and that she is quite skinny now. She saw the article in the Surrey Mirror and remembered Eva's face. According to her Eva was petrified and when she tried to call her, Eva ran the other way, into the park and she managed to drive around the park and saw Eva where the council offices are.
I hope the weather will be better tomorrow so I can go over there and put some posters up. If somebody lives locally, would it be possible to put posters up, in case I can't get over there (my car is playing up :( )
It would be great if I could get some advice from some experience people what to do next. Obviously she is in a very busy area now, which seems to make it more difficult to catch her.
Thanks.
- 2010-11-30 21:19 Julie B
- However hard it must be try and stay positive. The goods news is that something has been there to eat the food and that someone could just be Eva. I hope and pray that she shows up sometime soon as the weather is so cold and now snowing hard. Hopefully she has found somewhere snug to curl up until she decides to give herself up. If she had been picked up in the area do you know where she would be taken to ? Julie x
- 2010-11-30 19:59 BorderCollies
- Well, I think I am not very lucky with this. Just went to check the trap. The tripe was gone and somebody had started to gnaw at the chicken.... I was surprised about that, then realised that the trap mechanism was frozen and the door didn't shut. I loosened the metal wire now and put the minced meat inside and outside the trap. I didn't see any paw prints, but then it was snowing heavily and they were probably snowed over...
Can't believe how unlucky this all is :( - 2010-11-30 17:40 BorderCollies
- I decided to try some minced meat and place that in the trap and around it. Somehow I have to make it more attractive. Wish I had an old duvet I could put in, to make it more inviting...
- 2010-11-30 13:54 Kim
- Theres only so much you can do. If she has been there, she will go again. Raw chicken does stink. Even when frozen as it will be thawing in the day. I wouldnt freshen it each day.Last edited: 2010-11-30 13:56:07 by Kim
- 2010-11-30 12:48 BorderCollies
- I was only thinking about cooking the food to generate more smell. I know a slightly bbq'ed chicken has a great tempting smell for a dog, the tripe I put in freezes quite quickly due to the water content and the raw chicken leg doesn't smell that much either. I ran out of fish to make it a bit smellier...
- 2010-11-30 10:30 Kim
- Hi Ursula, You dont need to cook the food, Eva is well used to raw. And frozen chicken would be eaten if she was hungry. And if smelly tripe doesnt attract, then there isnt a hungry animal nearby. It's so worrying not knowing how she is. Keep up the good work.
- 2010-11-30 09:47 Suziewoo
- I live in Redhill and have just registered on here. Is there any news on Eva? I can't stop thinking about her, poor girl. If you need any help looking, please let me know.
- 2010-11-30 09:45 BorderCollies
- There is nothing to report really. The food is untouched. I am wondering now if I should slightly cook the meat to make it smellier. Beside, when raw it is frozen in now time. We got snow last night, so at least we might see some paw prints, if anything has been near the trap. All not very encouraging.
- 2010-11-28 12:44 peewee415
- Over the past couple of days I have looked in the areas between you place and Horley (Little Lake and the surrounding fields) also over to Sidlow (A217) and Outwood. Sorry to say still nothing but will keep looking.
- 2010-11-28 12:12 BorderCollies
- Nothing in the trap and the chicken leg is still there.0I guess the temperatures don't help as all the meat gets frozen over night. Will get some more fish to make it smellier.
- 2010-11-28 09:14 BorderCollies
- Thinking about it, I saw evidence of the fox too, as some of the dogs like to roll in it's poo :-O
I just never saw it out it day light. I baited the trap last night with a juicy chicken leg now hoping for some sort of result... - 2010-11-27 22:13 Kim
- Hi, I saw lots of evidence from the fox, and where the cat sleeps, and apparently there are badgers under the sheds in the gardens where she was first seen. But she is there too, she has to be. Good luck.
- 2010-11-27 12:53 BorderCollies
- When I walked my dogs earlier, I saw the most beautiful fox. He looked well fed and wasn't too scared of us. I just hope that he isn't the one eating the food around the trap. Then I saw in the lorry with the hay a massive black and white cat, first thought it was Eva, but on closer inspection it turned out to be a huge cat. SO another candidate for Eva's food.
The tripe outside the trap was gone this morning, the tripe inside was still there. I will buy a chicken leg later and tie it to the hook and spread fish everywhere. I saw wish she would go in there. - 2010-11-27 11:57 wickedweims

So either Eva (yes please), fox or badger ;-) If we not get any response from the newspaper, i really don't know where she is gone. - 2010-11-27 09:17 Kim

- I just have been to the trap again and the 2 chicken wings inside the trap are gone too. I put some tripe inside and outside the trap. Sorry, didn't read your comment before I left Angus. When I go back tomorrow I will attach the food to the hook. Let's just hope it is Eva, as I have no clue what to do next if it isn't her.
Thanks Digbysmum for letting me know about the article. Glad they printed it. :) - 2010-11-26 20:37 Angus
- If something has been taking the chicken wings it is possibly time to only put the food inside the trap - start with just inside for one feed and then on next feed bait securely tied to the hook or the back of the trap inside an old stocking with the juices smeared all over it so that what ever takes it really must activate the trap.
- 2010-11-26 20:00 digbysmum
- Yes, the article is in the Surrey Mirror - it has the photo, together with your contact number. Only error is it states that Eva hasn't been seen since she went missing on the 6th. Typical! Would be lovely if it was her eating the chicken wings. Come on Eva, time to come home x
- 2010-11-26 19:23 BorderCollies
- I am not sure they ran the story in the Surrey Mirror. I don't get the paper, so maybe somebody could have a look?
Tonight the trap was closed again :( but at least the chicken wings I left outside were gone. Not sure who ate them, but at least something happened there. Left some more fish there and will leave some tripe too. I just wish somebody (cattle) wouldn't always knock the door close... - 2010-11-26 19:05 digbysmum
- Drove around again yesterday, but no sign. I have Googled the traveller site in Green Lane, and it would appear that this is set well back from the road, with a track leading to it, so it would be hard to catch sight of Eva if she was there. I hope you get a result from the item in the Surrey Mirror. Hope Eva is managing to keep warm in this cold weather. Stay safe, Eva - we'll keep looking for you xx

- 2010-11-26 11:20 BorderCollies
- So far the food I placed around the trap is untouched. The stupid cows, knocking the trap door down don't help :(
I will buy some more smelly fish today and will put it around the trap... - 2010-11-25 17:20 BorderCollies
- I walk at the lake every day and I would have seen her, if she had been there. Though I drove up and down Green Lane, I couldn't locate the Travellers site. I am not sure she would be there, really, unless through some unlucky coincidence she got caught up somewhere and they caught her. I am still hoping she will come back to the trap, even if it takes some time. I am placing food around it on a daily basis and hope it will entice her to hang around, if she is still in the area.
- 2010-11-24 20:02 digbysmum
- Sorry there have been no sightings. Horrible thought, but has the nearby private lake been checked recently? Also, the Green Lane travellers site is not too far from the area she seems to be sticking to, so could be worth taking a discreet look (from the road maybe) - who knows, you might spot her. They may have taken her in, assuming she is a stray. Will have another drive round tomorrow. Stay safe Eva - come home soon xx
- 2010-11-24 18:20 Kim
- A couple of us have spoken with people on the Fairacres site, but its like a village in there, to go around every site. I dont think any of us went to the travellers site, its quite a bit further away. Someone will only have Eva if she got caught up. She was sighted last near the Fair acres site, but I walked around that area a lot, in the quiet bits, and I cant see her going near it, it's quite noisey there. But you never know for sure.
- 2010-11-24 13:48 BorderCollies
- Unfortunately the cows were cheeky and tried to get to the hay in the trap;
They must have knocked the door down and ripped the sheet off I put around the trap;
I will go there later and put an old bed sheet on the bottom of the trap and take they hay out and try to secure the other sheet a bit more;
Thanks Melanie for looking out for Eva :) - 2010-11-24 13:21 Melanie
- Hi
I live on Masons Bridge Road, so I will keep an eye out for EVA, and also when I am out walking my dog.
You probably have already done this but have you tried the Gypsy camp to see if she is there. Thin of you at this difficult time. - 2010-11-23 17:15 BorderCollies
- I put hay in the trap and put the dog bed back. (I hope the cattle doesn't eat the hay ;-) )
I tried to camouflage the trap a bit better and it looked very inviting when I left :)
I put fish inside and around... Now we just have to wait and Eva to appear... Hopefully! - 2010-11-23 13:09 peewee415
- Like others I have been out looking on most days without success. Today I widened the search and looked around New Pound Farm, Petridge wood and Lonesome lane areas and talked to several dog walkers but sorry to say nothing new.
- 2010-11-23 12:44 Angus
- I too think that this is very promising as I don't think a fox would bother with the bed just be interested in the food, I have just spoken with owner and given a few suggestions on making the trap more inviting and leaving food outside (small tasters) and inside larger portion - hope that she revisits the trap tonight.
- 2010-11-23 12:35 BorderCollies
- The Saturday after next, 4th of December. Until then it will be quiet. I will go up there in a bit and leave some fish near and in the trap. Let's hope it works....
- 2010-11-23 12:33 Kim
- That has to be cause for hope! I cant imagine foxes or badgers being interested in a dog bed. Hope it wasnt Alfie. Is it best to put dog bed back in and food both inside and out, to encourage her. I dont think she will be frightened of the trap in particular, even if she got a fright when it shut. That is good news. I hope it was her. The area is safe, and smells familiar. When is the next time there will be quite a few people about?
- 2010-11-23 11:59 BorderCollies
- We checked the trap this morning. To our surprise the door was closed and the dog bed, which was inside the trap, was outside. The food was still there. SO either Eva was there and tried to get the bed out and was then spooked by the slamming door, or it was some other sort of animal, who was keen on the bed. I will now put food down outside the trap, just in case it is her and she does come back.

- Drove around the area again today, but no sign. Has all dense undergrowth nearby been checked, in case she has been caught up? Wish I could help search the fields, but not too good on my legs at the moment. Stay safe Eva xx

- It is a nightmare indeed. I think I was luckier with the Surrey Mirror, so hopefully they will feature her story this week. Otherwise I will run an advert.Didn't even occur to me that she might travel at night...
Will put some more fish out on the field tonight, just in case.... - 2010-11-22 17:58 Kim
- Hello, it's almost the worst case scenario. I cannot believe we havent seen her for a week. The local paper and radio can only highlight awareness, and get to more people. I do think that she is hiding in a quiet area, which probably means on the circle, or just off the circle. Trouble is, there are so many possibilities. From other tales of dogs arriving back home, I can only think that she may gravitate northwards. Impossible to locate her. I did quite a lot of posters in the quiet areas over the other side of the air strip. I think the newspaper and radio are the best just now. Has she gone nocturnal? While we are not night owls except at lambing time, I have walked her a lot in the dark.Last edited: 2010-11-22 18:01:11 by Kim

- It is a week now without a confirmed sighting and I just don't know what to think :( Contacted the Crawley Observer and they promised to come back to me, but haven't done that yet. I really need wider coverage in case she left the area...
- 2010-11-21 20:32 BorderCollies
- Thank you Julie. I hope too that she will be found soon..
- 2010-11-21 20:23 Julie B
- Well fingers and everything crossed that the paper help you for Wednesday and it brings in some new sightings. I know it must be hard but stay positive and I am sure she will be back home where she belongs with you again very soon. x
- 2010-11-21 20:18 BorderCollies
- I hope she is still in Salfords, as she used to move in a circle around where I live, but as there have been no confirmed sightings since Monday, who knows where she is. All I know, she could be on her way back to Yorkshire :-O
- 2010-11-21 20:06 Julie B
- I forgot to say that when you ring the Crawley Observer ask to speak with the reporters as they would be the ones to run the actual story with a picture - instead of just the advertising department. I am sure if you ask them nicely they will do all they can to help you. Have you any idea which area she may be in now ? - I am in Horsham. Good Luck x
- 2010-11-21 19:52 BorderCollies
- I contacted Heart Radio/ Mercury FM, but didn't get a reply. I will try the Crawley Observer too. Thanks for the number :)
- 2010-11-21 19:02 Julie B
- It may also be worth putting an advert in the Crawley Observer as this would also cover the area where she has gone missing. Their telephone number is 01293 845076. If you were to contact them tomorrow you would be able to get something in this Wednesdays paper. Have you also tried asking Heart radio in Crawley if they would mention it thoughout the day ? I do hope that she is home safe and warm very soon bless her ..... she is gorgeous. Julie x

- I sent Eva;s story to local newspapers yesterday, hoping that they will run the story with a picture and the plea to help. If anybody knows anybody at the Surrey Mirror or Observer, could you please put in a good word for me :)

- I don't know. Couldn't get any more information that those. I went to Shipley Bridge too today, as there was a possible sighting last Monday, but think it is far too far away from her usual sightings. Still I put some posters up. I drove around for a while renewing posters and putting some new ones up in the area close to home, to hopefully make people realise that Eva is still missing...
- 2010-11-21 17:01 Kim
- There are loads of dogs everywhere in that area, but I would say that they would pretty much be with someone. Unconfirmed sightings are a nightmare. Eva would run in the opposite direction to someone walking a dog so I dont suppose you see much of her unusual markings. Was it at the near end or far end of New House Lane?
- 2010-11-21 16:08 BorderCollies
- While being out and about today putting up more posters, I came across a lady walking her dogs, who told me when she saw me putting up my posters, that she was asked yesterday while out walking her dogs, by another dog walker if she has lost a dog as he saw one running around. This lady didn't know any further details, but thinks it could have been Eva.... This was in the area of New House Lane. But it is all unconfirmed, as it could have been any dog really. :-/

- Nothing in the trap, no sightings either. I am quite concerned about the lack of sightings in the last days. I hope she didn't leave the area :(

- Hear hear to the last post. Never give up hope. My only concern is that if Eva still has her lead on, that she might be caught up in undergrowth - I hope not. Any luck with the trap yet? Will have a drive round on Monday. Stay safe Eva x

- NEVER give up hope...
There was a border collie on here called Holly, missing in Cornwall for 4 YEARS . The whole county new about her. One day she just walked into someones kitchen. The owner shut the back door and she was re-united with her owners. She had fleas & ticks but otherwise fit and healthy. BC's are very clever and resilient. You'll get her. - 2010-11-19 18:21 peewee415
- Had a good look around the other side of Axes Lane (Pickets/Newhouse/crossoaks Lanes) but sorry to say no success.

- I will be over there again tomorrow afternoon - will bring more posters. Come on Eva show yourself!
- 2010-11-19 14:45 BorderCollies
- I checked the woods at the top field at Masons Bridge Road today and there are a few spots where dogs could hide, but it didn't seem any dog did. While I was walking in the wood, I suddenly saw something black and white moving on the field next to it. It looked like a black and white dogs, but my mind could have played tricks on me and it was just a magpie :(
When I reached the field there was nothing.
I still get calls from people who spotted her last week asking if she is found and promising that they will keep their eyes open.
I am a bit concerned about no further sightings, but read Jess's thread yesterday (a collie that got lost in August I think and was gone for 2 month) and it reminded me very much of Eva and gave me hope that even after such a long time a reunion is possible. :) - 2010-11-18 20:08 digbysmum
- Drove round again this afternoon (got completely lost at one point, and ended up in Horley!), but weather was awful and could only drive along slowly searching the fields. I did get out of the car at the lay-by in Masonsbridge Road, but unfortunately no sign of Eva. Will take my binoculars next time. Hopefully she was curled up somewhere in the dry. Good luck with the trap.
- 2010-11-18 14:18 Kim
- The brambles stopped me from checking out the far side of the building. On the near side, there is a room with an open window. I couldnt see any sign of Eva sleeping there but she is a clean house dog. Be careful, when you get time to check it out. Wish google earth was cctv!
- 2010-11-18 14:14 Kim
- It really needs more people Ursula, we all have our hands tied in various ways. Keep up the good work. And please ask if there is anything you would like me to do.
- 2010-11-18 14:02 BorderCollies
- I think the 2 lower triangles are not very likely shelters for her, as they are too close to busy areas. My bet is still on the woody bit next to the field on Mason Bridge Road, but my bet is as good as anybodies. Will check both locations out and see if I find any evidence of a dog sleeping there.
- 2010-11-18 13:55 Kim
- No offense taken, we are all doing our best for Eva. I would rather be down there helping like I have been.
- 2010-11-18 13:49 Kim
- Ok, I dont mean the large building over the other side of the airfield, that is a long way away. I mean the first yellow triangle on the blue line of Angus's map. It needs checking out thoroughly. The second yellow triangle is a large decking with picnic tables on top. It is definately dry under there. The third triangle is unlikely as no cosy areas, and it is very close to Honeycrock farm. Angus, how do I suggest areas for you to add to the map, as there are quite a few quiet places, mainly over the road where she could be hiding, especially near the last sightings, and we have scented these quiet areas. I think people can be aware of these areas, and I will try to get regular phone contact with the local people. Ursula, please move Eva's dog bed near the trap if that will make it more familiar. ThanksLast edited: 2010-11-18 13:51:41 by Kim

- No the fire was at the buildings of the airfield, the one pinpointed as a possible hideouts. The derelict building is still there.
Kim, no offense, but what do you think I am doing all day? Yesterday was the first day in the last 12 days, where I didn't drive around or walk around for nearly all day, as I had some personal stuff to sort out. I will keep putting posters up and talking to people, no worries. - 2010-11-18 13:38 Angus
- re the trap - if there are clusters of regular sightings in an area then that is where the trap should be placed - it should be left in that place until it becomes clear from new sightings that the dog has moved completely as they may not go into it straight away - ours was placed in the low boughs of a large holly bush which was providing cover - it needs to be well disguised so that it doesn't spook the dog even more.
- 2010-11-18 13:37 Kim
- Hello Ursula, how unlucky again, are you sure it was the same building right by Dairyhouse farm, because I find it hard to believe that there was a fire there, it is completeley run down and disused for years, and there are some other buildings higher up on the airfield. I will check Angus's googlemap to check we have the same place. Would you mind going around and getting the lady's number, I will try on the internet, it is quite crucial to know where exactly she saw her. I agree we need patience, and the trap has a chance. But if local people are not reminded that she is still around the area, you will not be informed of any sightings. Even over just five days, it was often said to me, 'oh, are you still looking for her' 'havent you found her yet?' People need constant reminding. There are many dog walkers around these quiet areas, who will disturb her and she will run. I met loads of them, and there are many more to be targeted, with posters and chats.Last edited: 2010-11-18 13:38:21 by Kim
- 2010-11-18 13:29 BorderCollies
- When I saw her on Monday she didn't run away from me nor my dogs, she barely took any notice of us. She was ambling along as if on a walk. I can imagine though that the moment she gets out on the road she gets stressed.
- 2010-11-18 13:27 Kim
- Thanks, that makes it sound more hopeful. How long do you give a positioning? Do you move with regular sightings? Or do you not rely on sightings, and hope she will find it? Eva is nervous of strangers and dogs that she thinks are chasing her. It looks like she didnt believe that it was us over the past five days, when we were calling. Some of my sheepdog friends have said that they will hide very close by, and not come out because they dont believe that it is someone that they know, the trauma is so deep. Do you think she will have a regular sleeping place or several, as she comes across a safe warm place? Thanks, Kim
- 2010-11-18 13:27 BorderCollies
- There was a fire this morning right where all these empty "buildings" are on the airfield. There were fire engines and people. Even if she did stay there, I don't think she will come back there for now.
The trap is filled with stinky tripe and bone and I am sure it will attract some sort of animal.
Will go there again in the evening.
Kim, I don't have the number of the lady who sighted Eva on Monday morning anymore, as I get so many phone calls that it is gone now. Sorry. I don't think the momentum is lost, I just think it that we need lots of patience to see her, gain her trust and catch her. Or just make her realise that there is food in the same place on a regular basis. - 2010-11-18 13:01 Angus
- with dogs that are very nervous of people the traps are often the only way as the dog becomes so clever at not being seen and using ditches and hedges to travel - The traps can be very successful if they are placed in the right position and baited with fresh food at military time regulation - the loose dogs quickly become reliant on the food being in one place at that given time, my experience of succesfully using a trap was a little like this not knowing exactly where our target dog was hiding out just an area of about 4 square miles in a - using google earth to pin point possible barns and then placing the trap in this area, we then baited 3 times a day 6 am / 1 pm and 10pm with fresh stinky food - It took 5 days before we caught her - sometime can take less time sometimes it can take longer depends on the dog.
- 2010-11-18 12:40 Kim
- Concerning the trap, how successful are they? Do you move the trap to fit in with sightings? Do you just wait?
Concerning Angus's map, you highlighted an old building near the corner of the airfield as a possible hideout. I totally agree. She was there 3 days ago moving back to the top of Honeycrock farm. I originally was told to stay off the airfield, and there are loads of rottweilers at the stables/farm. I investigated before I left. And I reckon it is definately a possible site, dry, and Eva can work out that the dogs are not loose. There are many brambles and I could only check out one side. I had left my kids on the side of a busy road, so only had a few minutes. Ursula, could you give me the number of the lady who sighted her from the horse place please? There are loads of dogs on properties, that would frighten Eva, most are loose. But these ones are enclosed. Thanks - 2010-11-18 12:34 Kim
- I am quite concerned that momentum is being lost, now that Jo and I are not there. There needs to be more posters, and constant chats with locals in the quiet areas where she is likely to hide. Then when there is a sighting, it can be reviewed where the best place for the trap is. Or we return to the area. Although Eva returned to those fields after the noise of the weekend, she was running scared away from them, seeing dogs, and may not return again. I would hope that she will keep circling Honeyrock farm. She will certainly hide where it is quiet. She wont go towards the noise of the town, railway or motorway.
- 2010-11-18 11:39 BorderCollies
- I had a phone call this morning that there was a dog running loose on the A23, but it was described has wearing a red neck scarf. So unless somebody found Eva, took her in, gave her a red neck scarf and then lost her again, it probably wasn't her :-/

- Sadly I will have to go back to Yorkshire today, my girls have d & v, and my neighbour has a funeral and cannot help me out any longer with my animals. I spent a long time calling last night above the lake, and am hoping she will be there now, if she has heard, and has smelt all the scents that we laid down yesterday. I will liase with Ursula all the places where I think she is likely to hang out, to target the locals for sightings. The best place to lay a trap at the moment is the lorry where something has been curling up to sleep (a cat or Eva) and at the dead pig near the airfield, which is what may have been keeping her fed. If there is a sighting in a quiet place, that is worth putting a trap there, or food to get her hanging there. Other than the sightings along the side of the airfield, the other sightings have been when she has been running. I cannot stress the importance enough of keeping dogs away from the top side of the lake. The landlords dog, we dont have any control over. It is quite unbelievable that she has returned there at all after the bonfire, music and fireworks of last Saturday night. Eva is a clever little dog, although she was there for just a day, she would have found her way back to Ursula's home, but she will NEVER go there because of the dogs, and people and vehicles. But she is circling Honeycrock farm, luckily. I will gladly liase with Ursula on the google map when I get home. Flushing her out with lots of people is not a good idea, unless she was competently being flushed towards Jo or myself. We havent even seen her! And she knows our voices and whistles and smells. Border collies have massive outruns, they are designed to cover other things, not be rounded up themselves. Unfortunately, Eva has her sires natural outrun. The trap, with time and patience, and keeping dogs away from the chosen area, has a chance. Eva is used to a cage in my car, and will gladly jump in one. Willingly in fact, I will leave her dog bed with Ursula to leave with the food, to use as scent when I have gone. I dont like to leave her here but I have to go today. I hope she is safe soon.

- eva is still missing. after a long day both myself and kim searching a large area we had no sightings of her, we can catch her if she smells or hears us but without knowing exactly where she is our whistles and calling doesnt travel. i have had to come home for the day today and kim will have to go home soon. the posters that have been put up are getting weathered. if any local helpers can put up fresh posters and report any new sightings that would be a great help as we are relying on you a great deal to help locate her. thank you so much for the help you have given us so far.

- The aerodrome is not securely fenced. And Kim had a call yesterday that Eva was seen there. I looked at your map Angus and a few of the places are too close to busy places and I don't think she would stay there. She always seem to emerge in the morning from somewhere Mason Bridge Road or is seen close by in the evening. There is a little woody bit I suspect she might stay over at those fields. It is very quiet there too.

- I have overlayed your map onto a google map so that we can zoom in on the terrain and buildings - there are a number of places that I have highlighted in yellow as possible shelter areas, I presume that the Aerodrome is securly fenced in all around - she does seem to be circling the area around home very well - Kim can you do some scenting in the area leading back tothe house if it is safe or to one of your safe spots if this is safer for EVA - I will email the link to the google map for you to take a look at
- 2010-11-16 12:23 digbysmum
- BorderCollies, looking at your map, and the last sighting, if it was Eva I spotted yesterday, this was only one field away, in Picketts Lane, at around 3.15p.m. The last sighting seems to be so close to home - surely she must be caught soon. I will have another drive round this afternoon. Stay safe Eva x
- 2010-11-16 10:58 BorderCollies
- On the red path she was seen at about 9:30 yesterday morning. The next sighting was at 12pm. Though both locations are very close together, there is 2.5 hours unaccounted for.
- 2010-11-16 10:42 BorderCollies
- Here is the link to the updated map. The red line is the path she walked yesterday morning. A lady saw her running quite a way and I saw her the last part. She was first seen at the top field at Masons Bridge Road, then crossing the road and running across the fields until she ended up at a field at Axes Lane, where we lost her sight.
http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/ii258/borderbuddies/Picture5.png - 2010-11-16 09:13 Kim
- Just to let you know that the two people that Eva is likely to go to, willingly, are both in the area. Speaking to the lady that saw her last, she was running and scared. She will run from everyone in this state, until we can get close enough for her to hear us. She will run from any dog, except a few that she knows really well, and then she will need to get their smell first. So we are trying to make sure we dont call (or chase) her over a road. Yesterday, I passed a place in a field where my dog who knows Eva well, set her herself on a smell, and wagged her tail madly. I have never seen her do this before. When we returned, she also went in a copse and ran around madly. We were 4 hours behind her yesterday, and know the two places that she can be called from safely. So better luck today. We need sightings to pin her down. Thanks
- 2010-11-16 08:53 Angus
- Thanks peewee415, if you are able to sort this and have it in place that would be great, we need to study the maps and place the trap in the correct position but first we need to feed that positin to get Eva expecting food in a point - it is getting colder now so she will need more food to keep her body strength up so this could work to our advantage
- 2010-11-16 08:29 peewee415
- As previously mentioned, I have the phone number for the person at Reigate and Banstead for the fox trap we used when our dog was missing. I will call you soon to discuss. I can collect if it helps.
- 2010-11-16 06:25 Angus
- can you plot these latest sightings onto the map so that we can see the area again, good luck today, maybe just take one steady dog out at time this may make it easier for her to approach - the other thing that we need to source is a trap locally so that it is ready in place. Need to look at the map today and decide on a spot to continue the feeding to.
- 2010-11-15 22:12 ML
- Brilliant news that you have seen her today. Fingers crossed that she will be in the blue tomorrow. xxx
- 2010-11-15 21:05 Spindle
- Sound like you are getting close BorderCollies. As per our scenting and plotting sheet they will move in a triangle. As the dogs previous owner so far away setting a trap may be the answer. Praps send out the poster to all farmers in the vicinity of sightings, ask them to check their barns and call immediately. Feeding station set up would be good to keep her coming back. Good luck.
- 2010-11-15 19:57 BorderCollies
- All together there were 2 sightings today. The second one was around midday, but the person who saw her only rang 4 hours after the sighting, so by then she was long gone again.
I am guessing that she sleeps somewhere on the fields around MasonBridge Road. There is a large woody bit on the fields, plus several barns from a near by farm. She seems to move in a circle, circling around Honeycrock Farm.
I think I should camp out there to catch her when she walks past ;-) - 2010-11-15 17:04 Jayne - Founder Doglost.

I drove along Masonsbridge Road into Picketts Lane this afternoon, and spotted something in a field to my left - couldn't be sure if it was a dog - but by the time I had got out of the car for a proper look, whatever it was had vanished. Nice that she has made it back to familiar territory. Will search again tomorrow. Stay safe Eva x

- 2010-11-15 11:54 BorderCollies
- Forgot to say, she was seen Masons Bridge Road, the crossed that road went across the fields, crossed the stream and went on to Honeycrock Farm. Here she wandered the fields and we lost sight of her.
- 2010-11-15 11:53 BorderCollies
- There was a sighting this morning and I even managed to get a glimpse of Eva. She was back on the fields where I walk my dogs, so seems to hang around here somewhere. Unfortunately I had all my dogs with me and she wouldn't approach us at all. But hopefully we will see her again today.

- Really gutted that Eva didnt show herself over the weekend, I feel pretty certain that we covered a lot of areas that she could have been hiding out. She would show herself if she heard me calling even if she wasnt feeling confident to believe it was someone she knew. We have put up loads of posters in a wider area, and need to go wider still. A very big task. I hope she is safe. I have had to head home, but only made it halfway, so if you get a call in the morning, let me know :)

They will give you a reference number so you can phone back and quote it. - 2010-11-14 17:29 ML
- I so hope that you find Eva very soon. You are doing a great job in spreading the word and hopefully you will have that all important phone call very soon. Try not to get too disheartened, I know it must be hard but some dogs are very good at keeping hidden away. Good luck and I have everything crossed for you. xxx

- Drove around the lanes yesterday and walked rescue dogs in the woods. Came back via Salfords at dusk but sadly no sighting

- I have crossposted the link to Facebook and several email groups I am on when Eva first went missing, but noted I didnt post that I had done it on here .. anyway .. hopefully that will mean more people on the look out - I have all fingers crossed that she is found safe and well very soon indeed. Stay safe. I have also posted details on website ~~~~~ http://lostandfoundbordercollies.weebly.com/lost-collies.html

- Don't lose heart. Our Blue was missing for 10 days and as you know is very shy. He did eventually go to someone. The dog warden told us that they have had occasions when dogs have turned up after 8 - 10 weeks. THINK POSITIVE.
- 2010-11-14 14:39 BorderCollies
- No further sightings. I am really worried now. I tried to ring the railway, but National Rail says they are not responsible and Southern Train says they are only responsible for the station, not the tracks outside of the station. Anyway, Southern Train will now check if there is a body of a dead dog outside the station tracks, but not sure what I do about the rest. I am really disheartened now :( I can only hope that somebody took her in and hands her over after the weekend. One can but hope and even that gets difficult now.

- I rang the Highways Agency and no dead dog was picked up in the last 4 days.
We had a a very loud firework display here last night, so if she is still around she might just have gone back into hiding.
I can't open your file Kim, could you or anybody else who has it, change the format please? I can open .doc documents without problems :) Thanks - 2010-11-14 09:49 peewee415
- I live in Salfords, near Crossoaks lane. Have been out to Earlswood lakes and Petridge wood today. Please send poster
- 2010-11-14 09:48 Kim
- We just need a sighting, will be talking to more people and putting up more posters today. In a wider area. Have designed a more eyecatching poster (for drivers), post here if you live in the area and would like either poster to print off. It would be so helpful. Its hard getting them to stay in place in the wet too. Hope she is safe.

- Drove all around the sighting areas today, plus Earlswood Lakes/Common, but no sign. Just a thought, albeit a horrible one, but have you alerted the Highways Authorities and British Rail as I don't think the dog warden is responsible for any casualties. Just hope that Eva is staying close to nearby fields and woods. Come on Eva, time to come home x
- 2010-11-13 16:54 BorderCollies
- No further sightings today and we couldn't even confirm if the dog in the morning was Eva. Still I put posters up around Earlswood common. It is so frustrating not to be able to do anything. Now her previous owner is here, it would be so great if we had a confirmed sighting, as the time the prev owner can stay is limited... :(
- 2010-11-13 12:39 BorderCollies
- Eva's previous owner is here today. She is driving around at the last sightings to see if she can find Eva. She came across somebody who told her about a dog running loose at the crossing of the A23/ Maple Rd/ Three Arches Rd. Apparently at about 8am a dog was running across the road and 2 ladies stopped the traffic and trying to catch the dog.
We don't know if this was Eva, as the only person we could find who actually saw the dog in question at the time, said she can't remember what she looks like, but is certain it was a sheep dog. If Eva moved out of the area, it would explain why there were no further sightings. But it sounds very much unlike her that she would stay in a busy area. - 2010-11-13 10:22 peewee415
- Have been out with my dogs this morning and looked around the station area and surrounding streets, plus the industrial estates along the A23. Also walked the track between Perrywood social club and Crossoaks lane. Unfortunately no sightings.Last edited: 2010-11-13 10:23:46 by peewee415

- I agree peewee. I don't think the travellers sell dogs, but my concern was that if they find Eva, they might think she is a stray and hold onto her. Do hope she hasn't gone near the railway or the A23 and that she turns back to the fields. Couldn't search today but will have a drive round over the weekend. Stay safe, Eva x
- 2010-11-12 17:39 BorderCollies
- I put lots of posters on Crossoaks Lane and Haversham Lane today, typical ;-) Will do Salfords tomorrow. Or maybe even tonight. Will go out again in a bit, when the traffic has died down slightly.
- 2010-11-12 17:33 PaulaK
- Hope if it was her she turns back. I will be heading over that way tomorrow lunchtime - will keep my eyes peeled. Worth putting p[osters around salfords in case

- I just had a phone call from a lady, whose daughter might have seen Eva last night. She wasn't quite sure, as it was dark. This sighting was Honeycrock Lane close to the railway bridge/ Social Club.
According to lady lady Eva was heading towards the A23. I don't quite believe that Eva would run into such a busy area, but maybe turned around again or went back to the fields, which then lead her back to Mason Bridge Road.Or am I clutching straws here? - 2010-11-12 15:13 peewee415
- Travellers not known to sell dogs as far as I know
- 2010-11-12 12:44 PaulaK
- we could do with a fresh sighting today
- 2010-11-12 12:42 Kim
- Noone is going to catch Eva except someone she recognises. It will be hard enough getting near her now that she has been lost for so many days. Unless she is incapacitated. So there is no need to worry about travellers. It is her safety that is the worry. I hope she can keep safe until we get near her. Thanks for everyones kindness.

- I just talked to the new dog warden of the area. No dead dogs have been handed in. She took my details in case somebody reports Eva or sights her. I will put up more posters later in Cross Oak and Haversham Lane.... but hoping she is heading back my way.
Whereabouts is the Gypsy site on Green Lane, not that I think she will go there. - 2010-11-11 20:09 Kim
- A big thank you to everyone who is helping to find Eva, putting up posters and driving around, etc. The realities of life are tying me to Yorkshire but hopefully I will be able to join you in person soon. Can anyone recommend a b & b in the area because I booked one but a review described it as a fleapit? I need to bring my young children with me and need to know I have somewhere to stay that has been recommended. Many thanks.

- Drove around the area again today (Honeycrock Lane and Masons Bridge Road) but unfortunately no sign. Seems she may be getting closer to the Green Lane gypsy site, but hope not. At least she seems to be keeping away from the railway. Tesco's, Hookwood kindly took a poster for display at their customer services. Will have a drive around again at the weekend. Hope she's found soon. Stay safe Eva.

- Thanks you Peewee. Without your amazing help, putting up all those posters and getting them done, I wouldn't get all this response in sighting. Thank you :)

- Have been out and looked around Crossoak Lane/Haversham Lane/Pickets Lane/Newhouse Lane. Unfortunately no sign of her. Will look again tomorrow.
- 2010-11-11 14:56 BorderCollies
- Here is a new map. The place marked is where the lady lives who called me. I don't know exactly where Eva was sighted. I never talked to the person who saw her. She was distributing leaflets on that road and could have asked at every house if they lost a dog.
If she was anywhere near where the cross is, than she moved quite a bit away.
I will go out now again and have a look for her.
Here is the map link:
http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/ii258/borderbuddies/Picture4.png - 2010-11-11 11:03 BorderCollies
- I just had a call from a sighting close to the bottom of New House Lane. The problem is that the person who rang me didn't see Eva, but a lady who distributed leaflets asked her if she is missing a collie, which was running down the road with the lead attached. I talked to people living on that road to keep an eye out for her and as there are quite a few farms too, to insure them she is not after livestock.
AT the top of the road is some roadworks (close to Axes Lane) those workmen haven't seen her. The question now is, was she heading away from Axes Lane or towards it? - 2010-11-11 01:37 Teddys Mum - Area Volunteer, West London
- May I suggest that you walk the area of the fields where she has been seen and went into a garden. Dogs come out, usually, after dark. Get some food down at the same time twice a day in the same place and put some pilchards on the top. (dogs love them and the smell travels) If you see her, lie down and whimper, she will approach. Have some food in your hand.
Mark the map you have with the sightings and the times, then link them up. It will probably show a triangle, she will stay within this area and you can plot her movements and be somewhere ahead of her. It sounds as if she is staying close to home anyway, which is good. She has a good water source which will keep her nearby also. Dogs are very resilient when running, none of course cleverer than the BC.....good luck - 2010-11-10 21:26 BorderCollies
- No, it is not a fishing lake, it is a private lake and the area around is probably too busy for her to come out. Beside, if she hangs around there she would have been spotted. My guess is she sticks to the stream, much more remote and secluded.
- 2010-11-10 20:38 Angus
- Thanks for your map - I have had a look at this on the google map - is that a fishing lake between your home and the green cross to the right ? - this would be the perfect place and the trees on the right hand edge would offer her cover to sleep and move about without many sightings. Also fishermen have sandwiches and bait leftovers so she would be able to scavenge easily. Any further sighting please add to the map and repost details (Thanks to your daughter for doing the map )

- 2010-11-10 18:46 BorderCollies
- There were further sightings today and I spent most of my afternoon driving back and forth between the 2 places she was seen, hoping to catch a glimpse of her, but Eva wasn't cooperative. In the end we were sitting in my drive, as she passed by that 3 times now, with me missing her just a few minutes. But she didn't oblige and didn't show. My main problem is that I just don't know where she stays when she is not running. I will put food down tomorrow at certain locations and be out and about at 6 am looking for her. :(
- 2010-11-10 17:49 Angus
- Have spoken with owners this afternoon - Eva has not been seen again today, have given some advice on plotting the sightings and loooking on google earth for possible bolt holes - owners have mentioned a couple of places that I feel need further investigation. This is a very similar situation to Mack the curly coat retreiver who has been caught today after owners followed advice hoping that it may work again for Eva, just need her to stay away from the roads
- 2010-11-10 11:46 digbysmum
- Am over that way this afternoon and will have a drive round. Please stay away from the railway Eva and let yourself be caught soon. Stay safe.

- The previous owner is on her way now. So hopefully she will be able to call her, if we can narrow down where she is.

- Re previous owners comment- something she knows- could something be posted from previous owner that has familiar smells that could be used ( maybe contents of her vacuum cleaner to be mixed with water to use for scenting) or a peice of clothing- a sock - old glove- etc to use in a trap if thats going to be used.
- 2010-11-10 08:01 BorderCollies
- There was another sighting at 6 am this morning. Eva was running down Axes Lane to the junction Picketts Lane/ Masons Bridge and then went down Masons Bridge Road and the lady who saw her said that she then ran through a hedge into the first field on the left in Masons Bridge Road. Though this is still close to "home", we are now separated by a road and a stream. Beside, she seems to head towards the railway. I talked to some more people in the area, whose houses back onto said fields. These fields are huge and she could be anywhere. I was driving around for a bit to see if I can spot her, but I didn't. The lady who saw her this morning mentioned as well that she looked "hunched" so might be injured. I think I will drive around there a bit more after I walked my other dogs.

- We managed to get a fox trap from Reigate and Banstead Council. I have still got the phone number and will ring you in the morning with more info.
- 2010-11-09 20:49 TracyB
- Perhap ring Valgrays & see if they have a trap. They are a collie rescue based at Warlingham - which is only 20 mins from Redhill.
Ask for all sightings to be called through to one person, collies are difficult when spooked. Her favorite toy, food, bed in the garden could help - give her safe area & take it slow. She will recognise you- when she is ready.
Redhill is a busy town, while ever you can keep her in 'safe' zone then better for her. F - 2010-11-09 18:00 PaulaK
- great that she has been seen and is still in the same area - maybe one of those disposable barbeques with some sausages on too - she must be hungry and if she likes her food it may be enough. Please remember if she comes close to crouch low with your back to her talking softly and let her come to you - dont try to grab her it may make her run Last edited: 2010-11-09 18:02:34 by PaulaK

- Another suggestion if in earshot, is rattling dry dog food in a metal bowl. I do this to get young dogs in kennels, not Eva, but it is a noise she will associate with, and she likes her food. Shepherds whistles. Back of car. Hope she's safe soon.
- 2010-11-09 16:53 BorderCollies
- Eva has been seen running along the road. My daughter and I went to have a look and I knocked at some doors to ask if people have seen her. I stroke lucky and in a house opposite New House Lane Eva has been seen in somebody's garden. Their garden backs on to the fields where I walk my dogs. If she is still in their garden I asked them to call me if they see her again (bear in mind their garden is huge with many places to hide). Hopefully she made it back onto the fields. We put some food down there and I will go there again first thing tomorrow morning. I am so relieved she is still alive. Thanks all so much for your help!

- SIGHTED - STILL HAS LEAD ATTACHED
- 2010-11-09 15:31 Kim
- There has been a sighting of Eva close to where she went missing. She is looking lost, so is most likely to run from anyone until she senses something familiar. She still has the lead on. But is not far from a road. She will be hungry. Please post if you live around Honeycott farm and see her.
- 2010-11-09 12:21 PaulaK
- You need to get as many posters up in the area as possible
- 2010-11-08 18:46 Kim
- As Eva's previous owner, thanks to everyone who is helping. Unfortunately I live in North Yorkshire, and am tied with family and animal commitments. As soon as there is a sighting, I will try to get to Surrey, along with someone else who she knows. She will not go to a stranger until she is totally calm. Or another dog.
- 2010-11-08 13:58 BorderCollies
- Thanks for all your help. I am in touch with her previous owner and she told me a lot about what she would expect Eva to do or not to do. I am out often during the days checking the fields, but then, she might have run the other way, crossed the road and be somewhere on that side.
- 2010-11-08 13:55 peewee415
- I will get posters printed and post them around the area.
- 2010-11-08 13:43 digbysmum
- I'm afraid I can't help with the postering as I don't have a printer. I live in Woodhatch and will keep an eye and ear open. Have a sister in Salfords and have asked her to keep a lookout. As peewee415 mentioned, Blue was found after 10 days, so please don't give up hope. Bit worried about the railway line, so hope Eva is sticking to the fields and has managed to chew through her lead.
- 2010-11-08 13:26 PaulaK
- I think if anyone can get out walking the area they really need to be doing that - with evas lead still attached she could easily be caught up somewhere
- 2010-11-08 13:25 CJ - Police Liaison & SE Regional Coordinator
- I understand that you have only had Eva for a very short time ( 24 hours ??) . Are you in contact with previous owner as they may well be able to offer advice about her - even to help search- as she would know them maybe ??
- 2010-11-08 12:35 BorderCollies
- Talked to the dog warden (thanks for the number Paula) and he said that Eva wasn't picked up. So hopefully somebody will spot her eventually :-/
- 2010-11-08 12:34 BorderCollies
- I live in Salfords. One of the problems I am having is that my car broke down at the weekend, so I am not very mobile at the moment. I would very much appreciate if somebody could put up posters maybe on the A23? And at the local vets? Thanks a lot :)
- 2010-11-08 12:15 peewee415
- Our dog went missing in similar circumstances recently and was missing for 10 days. He also is very shy but did eventually go to someone. What area of Redhill do you live so that we can help look.

- Have just got my don back after similar experience. He was missing for 10 days so don't give up. He also is very shy but did go to someone eventually. What part of Redhill do you live so that we can help search.
- 2010-11-08 11:27 BorderCollies
- I tried to contact the dog warden, but I have to go trough the council reception and though the dog all my details and the description on the dog, they said that the dog warden will be in touch with me when she took in a BC.
So basically a waiting game. Will print more posters today and distribute them...
Regarding the lead, I hope that Eva will chew the lead in case she gets caught on it. I had lots of offers to help searching for her and I am very grateful for that. There are so many places she could hide here though :-/ - 2010-11-08 10:55 evaway
- eva will not come up to unknown dogs they will most likely keep her away. she will bolt from anyone other than who she has bonded with, which could drive her away. as there have been no sightings i am worried she has got caught up because of the lead. any sightings please call asap
- 2010-11-08 08:52 PaulaK
- Have emailed friends in Smallfield with boarding kennels and Nikki at Epsom Canine Rescue in case she hears anything. I believe there is a brand new dog warden for that area so have advised to get in touch as soon as possible
- 2010-11-07 20:22 BorderCollies
- There are lots of fields where I live and she could hide out without being seen for weeks or even months. I singled out one field, which I would run to, if I were a stressed dog looking for a hideout, but then I might be totally wrong.
I now laid a sausage trail back to the house. Not sure it is of any help, but at least it might give her some food, if not, than the foxes will have a feast ;-) What really concerns me is that there has been no sighting whatsoever, so I have no clue where she really went. Worse case she crossed the road :(
I don't know her well enough to know if she would come to other dogs, but probably not. Though I took some of my other dogs with me today hoping that even if she doesn't come out, at least they might find her, but no such luck.
More fireworks tonight don't help either. - 2010-11-07 17:09 B30
- BorderCollies, a dog in my area was reunited recently after being lost for three days. She'd only been with her new owner for three days but there's no doubt that she recognised her when she was caught.
After she's calmed down a bit she may retrace her own scent back to where she went missing. If there are any places in the area where she could be hiding and get her lead caught up make sure you check them.
Does she like other dogs? If you or a friend have any other dogs she may come to them rather than a person - 2010-11-07 09:16 BorderCollies
- I was just wondering what is the most likely thing she would have done? I know nobody can really say that, but from experience, as she doesn't have a bond with me, would she just have run to get away from the noise or would she have hidden somewhere close by and is just too worried to come out. I search all morning and there is no sign of her anywhere. I am really worried now as Eva doesn't really know me, nor does she know the area. Any advice would be very much appreciated. Thanks :)
- 2010-11-07 07:23 BorderCollies
- Eva hasn't been with me for long, so she doesn't really see me as "home" which makes it all so much more difficult. She is not likely to be caught easily, but likes to jump into cars.
I have been out early in the morning looking for her, but no sign at all. - 2010-11-06 23:32 Jayne - Founder Doglost.
