It's not unusual for a lost dog to stop recognising or responding to owners - he is living on his wits now. If you see him - you may need to lie or crouch down and make wimpering noises to get him to approach you - and don't make eye contact. Are you scenting the area?

hey, just to keep you all updated, someone saw a beagle of archies discription 'plodding' along in the woods where he was lost. me and a friend went and checked the woods about 5 minutes after she saw him and heard and saw nothing. not sure why he isnt responding to our calls but have put up posters etc and will be going out agaiin tomorrow. very very worried about him after all this snow and im praying hes ok and has found somewhere warm. Im going to the woods with lots of people on saturday to try and find him again, the more people i can get the more likely i am to have my boy home, as im beside myself with worry.. thanks for the help :)

Have just called owner - I am close by and can help search next week (sadly not this week - as away with work from tomorrow). Hope he is found before then though. Have mentioned scenting instructions - but if anyone wants to add some helpful scenting tips on here - then that would be great!!!!! I will contact my vet too - and ask them to keep an ear out. Good luck with your search - I hope Archie is back home safe and sound very soon. Debbie.

I know that you have reported Archie missing to Southampton City Council but, as he was lost at the sports centre, please make sure you have checked with Test Valley Borough Council as he may have strayed over the border into Chilworth/Romsey. Their number is 01264368000.
