This might be a silly suggestion but what about making up a board on a post with your dogs picure on it and standing or walking in a busy place to get maximum public attention. Better still get a loud hailer and hand out missing dog leaflets. Ask friends and family to help you on what I am sure is going to some of the busiest shopping weeks of the year when the public will be out and about.

I know it's very hard, but remember jack Russells are very tough little dogs and brilliant hunters. He could be having a ball in someone's barn catching rats for food. Try Nashenden Farm as well under the M2 bridge. I'd put posters in Wouldham and Burham
Am passing the word about and remember Medway Council has a dog warden service via customer first.
I live off Rochester High Street, so you never know he could come down to my dog walking area. Am carrying an extra lead just in case and his poster.

Hi SaraJayne and Shelties Mum
Thanks for your comments. Still no news. My husband is going to Priestfields tomorrow and will put posters up on lamp posts etc and he says he knows the lady who walks Alfie so he will have a word with her and speak to other dog walkers there. I hope somebody has taken him in as it has been very very cold out there and he might not have survived. I have searched all round the prisons and the farmland at the back of the prison but no sign of him. Only cows and foxes out there. We can but hope there is some news soon. Many thanks for your continuing support.

I live and work in the Chatham Maritime area so probably not much help, I'm afraid, but will continue trying to spread the word amongst friends. Sheties Mum, you have a good point. I'm no expert, but my feeling too is that with all the fields and woods and rabbit warrens and squirrels and so on, he might not have ventured too far, and if he was somewhere more residential he'd perhaps have been spotted more recently. Alerting dog walkers who use these fields and woods might be the best way to get Boycie back quickly. Thinking of you Sheeshee, hope he is home with you very soon xx

Hi
Thanks for that info. If he's been round the prison he may be making his way back. It's a world of rabbits up there. I was in Borstal twice today, plus driving up tp Bridgewood and was keeping a keen eye open. There are some very helpful regular dog walkers at Priesfield and one in particular walks a staffie called Alfie. She'd be an ideal person to approach as she's dog mad and knows everyone. Do you have a poster up at Priestfield and the petrol station at the prison?

Hi SaraJayne and Shelties Mum

Thanks for your comments. Boycie went missing from the garden at Sir Evelyn Road, Borstal, Rochester on 2 December 2010. He was reported as being seen in the car park at Borstal Prison that day and also on the same day in Priestfields Road as a driver had to slow down for him as he was running in the road. I have contacted and emailed Medway Council. I have posted his details on 4 websites and facebook. We have put posters up in the three prisons and a good number of shops, Co-op, Garages, pubs and have quite a lot of people physically looking for him. I have contacted Jasmil and Viking Oak and my own vets I have also advised the Anibase the microchip people - he is chipped as living in Bristol as we have only had him four weeks and I had to get the paperwork together before I could change the address. He had a grey and orange collar on but no address. He is microchipped. If you have any news please phone on 01634846167 or email me Sheelaghfrances@yahoo.co.uk. My work number is 020 7291 5600. Many thanks to everyone for all their help in trying to find my little Boycie.

Shelties Mum, there is a facebook group for this dog here - http://www.facebook.com/home.php?sk=group_169951923039063 which states he is missing from Sir Evelyn Road so top of Borstal. I know from a friend's wall they have posters up at the prisons and have tried Viking Oak and Jasmil. Don't know any more than that I'm afraid - I don't actually know the owners. Hope someone has taken the poor little chap in - it's been so cold!

It would be good to know exactly where in Borstal Boyce has gone missing and the circumstances. It is on the edge of countryside and he could make his way towards Wouldham, Burham, the M2 or Rochester itself.
I am there tomorrow at the doctor's and will take a poster. Borstal has a small number of well used little shops and the owner should get posters up there.
Will keep an eye open as this is my patch.
