Any chance this is him?

Did anyone ever trace this poor baby?

I'm just "bumping up" Pathos as it's a year today since he went missing.
.
I live about six or seven miles from Pitsea, which is not that far really and when I'm out with my dogs, I still look at other dog-walkers, just in case.
.
I know a time back, there was a post that said he might be out of the area, but someone, somewhere MUST know something.
.
Let's pray that whoever has him, can find it in their conscience, if they have one, to do the right thing and return him.
.
Or maybe someone knows something and will spill the beans this year.
.
I don't know Angela (Pathos owner) personally, although I did text my support to her initially, but I (like everyone) can only imagine what she's gone through this year and it still going through.
.
If anyone has any information, however small, it may well be the piece of the jig-saw that will fit everything together.Last edited: 2011-12-26 14:37:21 by Radar Ears

The dog that was featured in the Echo was Laci, a Siberian Husky

I can't believe that someone can post that a dog has been reunited BEFORE checking with the owners.I can only imagine how upset Pathos's owner is. 1 minute shes being texted asking if Pathos has been found, as it says on doglost that he has, the next she being told, sorry he hasn't it was something I was told. Next time perhaps check first before jumping the gun...
DogLostJayne - Founder Doglost.
Have spoken to Dogtopia...who has looked into this as a friend works at the newspaper and it was a similar dog found in Wickford but it appears not to be Pathos...the hunt goes on...thanks for taking the time to clarify things.

Ok. My posting was NOT meant to cause anyone any upset. I have watched this post for Pathos for months and came to look yesterday. As there were no posts since July I thought it was not updated. As I said, I was told the info I gave below and thought everyone else following would like to know the latest news.

I have just this second spoken to David and told him what I know. Not much. In future I will be more careful with my information and postings.

Dogtopia - this IS NOT true at all. We have this from the owner herself.
Mollys Army
I have tried to call David back (1.15AM call NOT appreciated) to tell him what I was told. About 10 days ago Pathos was in the Echo (local newspaper for Basildon area). He was reported as found in a garden in Wickford area with poorly feet and not in great health. Apparently the dog warden had a tip off and found him. Pathos was pictured in the newspaper WITH HIS FEMALE OWNER.
I have not seen the paper as it is out of my area. My owners told me about it on Friday, in conversation, as they had seen his adverts in the paper for the last few months and were happy that he was found. I spoke to them again this morning and they confirmed what they told me yesterday and said it was about 10 days ago that they saw it, in the paper, near to the back. I only posted on here as I thought others would like to know he was (hopefully) home. As I posted yesterday, it was REPORTED to me. Hopefully he has been found and his co-owner just hasn't been informed yet. Last edited: 2011-10-15 14:25:15 by Mollys Army

Sadly still no news on Pathos......lots of possible sightings far and wide but no definites. Angela has been relentlessly spreading the word and keeping Pathos in everyone's mind. She has amazing support. Press adverts now in all local papers, BBC Essex radio have done an interview with her today and they are going to try and assist Angela in getting her story into the nationals. ** INFO RECEIVED SUGGESTS PATHOS MAY BE WITH A FAMILY IN THE COLCHESTER AREA OF ESSEX **

Please can everyone spread the word and circulate his poster and details to anyone in or nearby to Colchester. I cannot begin to tell you how hard Angela is working to find Pathos, anyone on her Facebook group will say just the same, and how desperate she is to get her boy back home to her to where he belongs. She is immensely grateful for any help you can offer in her search for Pathos. Thanks!

(Will ask for Jayne to send email alerts to Colchester helpers. Riverlady can you tweet #colchester please!!)

Thank you! I know Angela, Pathos's devastated owner, is extremely grateful for all the help.

Bumped up due to various possible sightings in local area that are being followed up. Come on Pathos, time to be back home now boy. x

Hi, I get the Echo each week and saw the ad, sorry to hear that he is still missing I have added this to my FB page asking my friends to circulate it as some of them may live closer to that area and know other people who live in that area as well. Hope that he is found soon and returned home Wishing you success & good news xLast edited: 2011-02-01 17:32:30 by Vittoria

Confirmed sighting in the last hour of Pathos in Fremnells off Whitmore Way, BASILDON, ESSEX. Two members of his FB group saw him, thought they pretty much had him cornered but he slipped away. Angela gone back out again to look. Hopefully it will just be a matter of time (and not much!) before Pathos is back home.

Thanks nataliemurf, the Basildon DW covers CastlePoint and Southend DW aware.

Update from Angela via FB - ANOTHER POSSIBLE SIGHTING IN PITSEA
(The sighting on Rayleigh Weir and Rayleigh Rd towards Hadleigh *may* have not been Pathos, someone else saw the dog also and thought it was bigger, Alsation size, and very skinny. Angela trying to find out from others who saw the dog what they thought. Please continue to look out everywhere though!

UPDATE -

"Had a call today from a woman who says her daughter thinks she saw Pathos yesterday morning at around 8.30am near the bus stop on the London Road in Pitsea, just beyond Howard's Park (Pitsea Park). I asked whether her daughter could be sure it wasn't a fox and the woman was adament that it was a dog and that it looked like Pathos. The girl said hello to the dog and it ran into the estate that backs onto to the park. My sister and I went through the estate but couldn't see anything. We've replaced rain soaked posters in the park, the estate, along Rectory Road and London Road and added more all the way to Pound Lane. Took posters to Billericay Dog Training school (thanks, Val) and Val has given them out to dog owners to put in their cars. Also took posters round to Barbara (a member of this group) and she'll put them up in her area of Wickford (thanks, Barbara). Sharron (also a member of this group) took lots of posters and has covered the areas where she walks dogs and some veterinary surgeries and pet shops in other areas in the region (thanks, Sharon). Had another prank call at 8am this morning from an idiot who said that he had Pathos then laughed and said 'only joking. Why don't you give, up. He's probably dead by now' - there are some really sad people out there! Off out again this evening to go through the estate near the park again with my mum's dog and then I'll do a drive round all the areas Pathos has been seen. Will also go out at dawn to see if Pathos (if it was him) resurfaces when it's quiet. Once again (and I really can't say this enough), thank you so much for your support and although he's been missing a while now, please don't stop looking out for Pathos x "
nataliemurf
You may want to contact the castle point and the southend dog wardens in case he is picked up and taken to them rather than basildon if he is in that area - I work in Rayleigh Weir area so I will print off some posters today and get some put up around this area for you - keep going and stay strong my heart goes out to you x
happy dog
Put a poster up this morning on the little common Thundersley, also put up a few on the big common at Thundersley. Put up a couple en route to the common and one in the pet shop in Hart Rd.
shazzyk
Ive drove up and around Daws Heath/Common and up to Westwood yesterday spoke to two postmen and asked them to keep an eye out. Also asked my brother to pass the info onto the ambulance service there as they are in that area. If I et a chance will go up again later today with my dogs. It may be worth asking the school at King Johns and Westwood to keep an eye out for him.
sharron78
Hi Happy dog, I wasn't able to get out today as I had a flat tyre. Will hopefully get it fixed in the morning so will go to Hadleigh and poster there, I spoke to a friend in Benfleet today and she said there's nothing there, so might be an idea to get some up in that area x

Hi happy dog, If you go to comments left on 31 dec by Jo, the link for Pathos Facebook page is there. I hope lovely Pathos is home soon.
happy dog
Thanks Jo. I sent Angela a text earlier today to let her know I live near to the possible sighting. I don't drive but if there are any sightings close to where I live I should be able to go out and look, Angela knows this and has my number.
I've looked on facebook but can't find the page for Pathos, can someone put up a link so that I can keep updated. Thanks
Jo - Area Co-ordinator, Essex
Thanks happy dog! If you are low on ink but able to put some posters up I am sure Angela would be more than happy to provide you with some. I will let her know about your post so she can get in contact. She does have internet access so that's no problem.....she updates Pathos's facebook page (group is over 1,500 members now) and I transfer updates over here as Angela is spending all of her time postering, searching, travelling back and forth between London and Essex.....she is very grateful for any help anyone can offer. So please, anyone in this area, even if its just the one poster at the end of your road that could be a huge help in bringing Pathos home.
happy dog
I walk my dogs on Thundersley Common most days, the common is close to Raylegh Rd and Rayleigh Weir. I will ask around and see if ahe has been seen by anyone else.
sharron78 wherabouts will you be postering? I have hardly any ink in my printer at the moment but will poster the pet shop in Hart Rd.I could also put up some posters on Thundersley Common.
If there are any sightings close to the common or Hart Rd I might be able to go and look straight away. I'm about 15mins walk from the common (don't drive) other problem is not recieving any email alerts (this appears to be due to a problem my end) However I can be contacted on 07759021282.
As Angela does not comment on here I will presume she doesn' have internet access and will text her my phone no.
I also thought that she should contact the Southend Dog Warden as if Pathos has gone past Hadleigh and into Leigh I think he will then come under Southend Council.
Hope he's found safe and sound soon.
Jo - Area Co-ordinator, Essex
Thanks sharron, passed that on to Angela. That would fit with the later sighting at 2pm I think if I am thinkign of the right roundabout he was seen by towards Hadleigh. Please let someone catch Pathos soon. Stay safe boy. x
sharron78
My friend just told me she saw a dog resembling Pathos running along the central reservation of the A127 towards the Rayleigh Weir at about 1.30pm today. She wasn't aware of Doglost, she only mentioned the stray dog to me as I rescued two dogs off the road yesterday. She said she thought the dog was a small, tan german shephard but now thinks it could have been Pathos. I will print off posters and put them up around here, I live about 2 minutes walk from the Rayleigh Weir so he could still be around that area xx

UPDATE FROM ANGELA - ANOTHER SIGHTING **** ANYONE IN HADLEIGH/BENFLEET/THUNDERSLEY/LEIGH AREAS PLEASE LOOK OUT, SPREAD THE WORD AND PUT UP ANY POSTERS YOU CAN. THANK YOU. ****

"In an absolute state of despair. Just had a call from a woman who saw a dog matching pathos' description and picture running along the Rayleigh Road towards the Hadleigh roundabout at around 2pm this afternoon. She said he was running across the road and a car stopped to avoid him. She couldn't stop her car to try to catch him and then lost sight of him. That means he could be heading towards Hadleigh/Leigh on Sea or Canvey or back towards Benfleet - Those areas are outside where we've postered (except for a few posters in Benfleet) and a long way from Pitsea. I've placed ads in the weekly papers in those areas but will now need to poster there too (and by the time I can do it sufficiently, he could have moved on). The most worrying thing is that he's running across main roads. Please, please, please if you live in any of those areas, keep your eyes open and ask people if they've seen him. Tonight's call certainly explains why we've had no sightings since Saturday x"
happy dog
Pleased that you have good weather for looking for Pathos and sorry I'm not able to be there today. Hoping he will be reunitied with his owner very soon.
Jo - Area Co-ordinator, Essex
Several more possible sightings have been coming in over last few days around similar sorts of area so fingers crossed its only a matter of time now!

Great news. :)

Update from Angela via Pathos's groups on Facebook -

Just had a call from a lady who says she saw him Tuesday or Wednesday of this week walking along the pavement out of Rectory Road in to Pitsea High Road and heading towards the shops, which is very close to us. He could still be in the area. Out postering again today - putting extra ones up where he was sighted. He could have headed towards Benfleet - Can everyone in the area please keep your eyes open for him as he could still be running loose.

Thanks Sarah! Been in touch with owner today, no sightings or news on Pathos sadly. All relevant authorities, vets, kennels etc notified and owner got ad going in local press for next 5 days.

Just to clarify, Pathos is quite small, only about the size of a Corgi. He is nervous/timid as a rescue dog that has been ill treated previously so if sighted please call immediatly. Thanks!Last edited: 2010-12-30 21:33:56 by Jo - Area Co-ordinator, Essex

Sorry to see Pathos is missing. Make sure you contact Basildon council and the neighbouring council's too incase he has been picked up by them as a stray. How did he go missing? Great to see he's chipped and tattooed, please alert the relevant registers, checking the details they hold for you are correct. Then poster poster poster, sure someone has seen him. Sorry to see that PATHOS is missing.
  • If your dog is microchipped please let the microchip company know that your dog is missing and check that all details are up to date.
  • Owners targeted by a malicious hoaxer demanding money for the return of their dog should phone the police on 101 immediately and contact admin@doglost.co.uk
  • A photograph of your dog is essential for the website. If you have not already uploaded one, please do so by clicking on Update details. Alternatively you can email it to admin@doglost.co.uk quoting the dog's DogLost ID number: (26978)
  • Obtain a missing poster by clicking on View poster above. Posters are very important so start postering now!
  • You will need to be logged in to upload photos, edit your dog's details, or add comments. You can add comments by clicking on Click here to add a comment.
  • Contact dog wardens, vets and local rescue centres, and in Scotland, the Police. Give a detailed description with any distinguishing marks/scars or send them a copy of your DogLost poster. You can find vets in your area here.
  • If your dog has been stolen inform the police immediately and obtain a crime reference number (CRN). Send an email to stolen@doglost.co.uk.
  • If your dog is picked up and taken to rescue kennels, it can be legally re-homed after seven days. Visit rescue centres in person and do not rely on checking by phone alone. Other people may not recognise your dog by your description, so give them a DogLost poster.
  • Keep us updated by keeping your dog's page up to date and check for posts from helpers who may have suggestions and possible matches or sightings
  • DogLost is free and anyone asking for money to find or return your dog is not volunteering for us. If you are concerned about an approach you have received, please email admin@doglost.co.uk
