- I am SO very sorry. My heart goes out to you. I do truly understand your pain; my collie was killed last Christmas time by a train but we couldn't find her for a while. It sounds like it probably was your beloved Jess; as your posters were the ones that gave rise to this information. But as you also say, keep a look out for further infomation. Have you thought to put an advet in the local paper, just so you can gather further info, to help you be certain? I know its horrible, but if you are still a little unsure, it may help. You may be able to get it free by getting an article put in there instead - it could be a way of informing others to take care when walking their dogs there. It could be in Jess' memory. I'm trying to do that here with the rail network. If something good can come out of it, may be worth a try. God Bless Jess, safe in the arms of God now and bless you too because you love her. She's your angel; still with you, always. With love, Kim

- So sorry to read your sad news. I live in Bridlington and saw the poster in a supermarket (also received the email with the poster). I heard a very similar story a short while ago about the authorities in this area, a dog's body was apparantly disposed of without checking for a chip and informing the owners, this was a dog lost in the same area around the cliffs. Very sad.

- Run free gorgeous Jess xxx
What a lovely man to wade into the sea and recover her :)
So annoying that so much heartbreak could have been avoided if people in authorities had liased :( - 2011-01-06 08:27 Sable - Regional Co-ordinator - Scotland
- My thoughts are with you Martin. So sorry to read this - not only for your loss if it is indeed Jess, but for the fact AGAIN, that there is no co-ordination between the council, vets, DWs and police. Have they any idea the trauma they are causing by their appalling practices?

- Sad thoughts with Jess' owner if this was in fact Jess, how sad you cannot have complete closure one way or the other. I hope perhaps someone else will be able to give you some more information. Run free sweet girl.x.

- I am sorry to report that we received another telephone call, this time from the shop where we left a poster. Apparently a man reported that he had waded into the sea to recover a Border Collie on 30.12.10 and took her body to the vets. She didn't have a chip so I assume they called the council to collect her body. I phoned the council dept. on 31.12.10 but they didn't know anything about it. I had also already left details with 2 vets in Bridlington, that came up from "find any UK vet" - Aldgate (Vet Clinic) and Priory, but they never contacted me. Sadly we must assume it was our Jess, but if anyone has any further information about where she ended up please post here or email me on oscar48@tiscali.co.uk.
Thanks to everyone for their, help, care and concern.

- Jess was walking with her owners when she went missing . There is a big dip from the coastal path from South Landing which has wooden steps down
and opens up to the shore ( then steps back up on the other side towards Flamborough Head )it is a path used by lots of walkers and this is where Jess was last seen.
Sadly, a call was received by Jess's owner yesterday from a young girl who reported seeing a black & white dog which had been washed up on Bridlington beach :-( but owners contacted the council but there have been no other reports of this and I'm hoping that Jess is still safe.
I have given the number for Bridlington RSPCA , local vets, and the coastguard general number so her owners can check with them also. Leconfield Kennels take in the strays from Bridlington area and they are already aware of Jess but she hasnt been taken into them. I also rang Carr Lane Kennels, who have taken her details. Keep safe Jess xxx - 2010-12-30 19:33 Shirley4Collies
