- Thank you millys Mum, So that could be right then someone could have held on to him hoping they could breed from him they may well have done so. Then he was no longer wanted.
- 2011-09-04 17:37 Millys Mum
- doglady - King was entire when he went missing from a walk.
- 2011-09-04 14:18 doglady
- it dose not say on Kings post but was he entire or castrated. Because if he was castrated it may well have taken this long for the person or persons to realised he can not make puppy's so then just let the dog go and this dog as been trying to fend for its self. or chunked out. because the dog was of no use to them.
- 2011-09-04 14:17 my boy max
- if the owner still has the other 2 dogs can he take them to see what there reaction is
- 2011-09-04 14:10 doglady
- Yep my boy max spot on,....... these things do happen colour can and dose change I have had three one of my dogs went from black and tan to a light sable. and we all know chips can move and also lost and can pass this dog is ill and this could have been the case that the chip was lost.
- 2011-09-04 14:03 my boy max
- one of my black boys legs changed colour when he was about 2 and now has sable on his legs..and just had my new addition rechiped as the vet could not find the origanal one
- 2011-09-04 14:02 doglady
- To The owners Please do not give up in thinking this is not King he may not at the moment respond to you he is so ill and he needs time to heel. even when owners have not been away from there dogs as long, if they find the dog it will not always respond to you. So please keep up contact with this dog as it gets stronger it may well remember you. And you will see things in it that King and only King would know.
- 2011-09-04 12:53 Millys Mum
- Here is doglady's response & which has also been posted on the found in Orpington GSD's DL page:
Well done millys mum for getting in contact coat colour can change at any time. what ever condition. He may not respond to his name because of the length of time he as been away and also what he as been through also he may still be in shock. I hope with the care and time this boy will pull through. And also Kings owners going back may get a different reception from the dog as it would have had more treatment. - 2011-09-04 12:49 Millys Mum
- Have just spoken to King's owner who has visited the vets where the found dog is being cared for. King's owner isn't 100% sure whether it's King as the dog is in such an awful state (but is also receiving the best possible care). Their heads are similar but no chip has been found which I'd thought wasn't surprising as this dog has lost so much body weight and muscle. Also, all four paws are sable coloured but I'm wondering whether this could be down to the conditions in which he was being kept and that urine, faeces and filth could have altered the colouring of the fur. King's owner was very traumatised and although he doesn't feel that it's King, he has asked to return to the vets in a few days to convince himself. He has my number and so will update me in due course.

- This may be a long shot but have you phoned lewisham council? I found a dog on southend lane before xmas and they now deal with lost and found dogs! I also live in bellingham and I have never seen these leaflets but I will look out for your dog xx
- 2011-01-15 13:29 Calamity
- My husband and I met a gentleman walking a black german shepherd very similar to if not identical to King a couple of weeks ago in Buchan park Crawley. It probably isn't king but looks so similar that I thought it worth a mention. Unfortunately I don't have any onther info and hadn't seen this post until today.
Calamity - 2011-01-12 12:45 Baggy Dog
- Have printed off poster for Last Chance. I went to Paul Grant (Vet, West Wickham) today. No poster on the board! Have to go back Friday so will try & remember to take one with me. It's certainly worth delivering colour posters to vets - they stand out on the notice board amongst the faxed black and white copies.
- 2011-01-11 18:57 Pete
- Hi its pete, i have been sick with flu, so sorry for no reply millys mum. thank you for your flyers. I will try to find out our local paper; i think it is the mercury? if i feel a bit better 2morrow i will check the posters i put up in riverpool park in bellingham.
- 2011-01-11 17:51 Claireg
- I had a drive around on the way back from work and the majority of the posters I put up are still there. Im still happy to give the owners some more posters and flyers if they would like some to circulate in the area. I think it would be a really good idea to get some ads in the local paper to spread the word as far as possible.
- 2011-01-11 11:33 Millys Mum
- Yes ellejay - all very strange because I don't think either Bromley or Lewisham Councils are that strict about postering (as long as they are put up neatly and removed once the dog or cat has been found). I had to go down to Foxgrove Vets just after Christmas with an emergency situation and, although my mind was otherwise occupied, I didn't notice King's poster (just Biscuit's, Jet's and several missing cats) and so don't know whether King's owner has popped down there with a poster. If I have to go back down there (hopefully not!) I will take one with me but strongly recommend King's owner does this asap. What Council covers the area where the posters have been taken down - Lewisham or Bromley? I don't suppose the Last Chance shop has one (unless it's already been covered) & so will ask one of our local Helpers to pass one to our Last Chance Friend, who works there. I've also been wondering whether King's owners plan to place a Missing ad in the local paper. What is the best one round that way because many of us now have doubts about the circulation of the News Shopper although delivery might be better in your neck of the woods.
Pete, are you able to answer our questions please? Last edited: 2011-01-11 11:36:47 by Millys Mum - 2011-01-09 23:18 ellejay
- Can I ask who has postered where??
Just I have not seen any posters about, none in downham high street, none on beckenham hill by the side of bbpark, I am worrying that they are being taken down.
The ones I put up last week are again not there, and there are none over downham fields, I walked my dog there today and did not see one.
I also went down blacklands road where beckenham hill train station is and did not see any.
If king is hiding round here posters have to keep going up to get him noticed, but can't help but think maybe someone has him and is taking them down.
Has an ad gone in the local paper?? Has foxgrove vets been contacted ? As with Anderson vets in sundridge park as that's round the corner from the cemetary.
Come on king show your self, I feel frustrated knowing he was spotted right near me. - 2011-01-09 21:38 Unknown
- I have checked pets4homes and free ads. I did see a black male dog for sale in West Midlands. It was about a week o;d (the ad) and was on page 4 I think, sorry hubby came in and I lost the page, also one called Elvis on page 2 but that sounds genuine. I will check Epupz now. Liz
- 2011-01-09 20:07 Millys Mum
- Pete - thanks for the update. I'd also been wondering if there had been any sighting or whether you'd received any phone calls. Good to hear that you checked out Battersea again today although we do know that they are very good when it comes to reuniting missing dogs with their owners. I just hope that, as you say, that you will get a sighting or some information this week as to King's whereabouts. BTW, did you spot Clarieg's offer of posters and mini-flyers (if you would like to take her up on her offer, I can pass on your address to her) and did you receive the A4 page of mini-flyers I sent?
- 2011-01-09 16:21 Pete
- Hi, I've just come back from the battersea dog's home but unfortunately, King wasn't there. will carry on with high hopes and hopefully there'll be a sighting this week. I tend to keep going back to the area where I lost King and with further visits to Dowhnam playing field.
- 2011-01-08 21:18 Unknown
- Any news on King. Fingers crossed
- 2011-01-06 20:14 Claireg
- If you need posters or mini flyers Im happy to print them off and post them to you direct (or via Doglost). Ive got lots of miniflyers ready that Ive already printed off and wont take long to print some more posters.
I asked a friend to add King to her Facebook page, she lives very close to Bellingham as well so is on the look out.
Is the Newshopper worth approaching to put in an appeal if King is still missing by Monday? I know there was some issues with them before? Does anyone know of any other local papers that might put an appeal in ?
Ive been keeping an eye on Gumtree etc just in case. Also checked the pet section in this weeks Newshopper but definately nothing there.
Come on King, show yourself we all want you back home with your family soon ! - 2011-01-06 17:54 Millys Mum
- Pete - I've just posted you a copy of one of King's mini-flyers A4 sheets (as you are experiencing printer problems - join the club since my printer has now run out of ink!). It only managed to print one decent copy before it started playing up. But use this as a 'master copy' to photocopy others from (preferably onto bright orange paper). I believe most newsagents charge around 10p per copy (4 mini-flyers to a page) but you would need to supply your own special paper - I reckon you might be able to buy it from PC World just off Bromley Road. I've posted it first class and so it should reach you by tomorrow. Treat it like gold dust!Last edited: 2011-01-06 17:59:43 by Millys Mum

- Hi it's Peter. I've just come back from a riverpool park in Bellingham. Basically just tracking all area where I lost King. Didn't really meet anyone I guess it's because it's a rainy day. Put some posters up in a Bellingham shopping area and still keeping my hopes up that King will be spotted again soon. Thanks for ellejay and Claireg for your continued efforts in helping to find King, also thanks for Millie's mum for all the advice on the phone yesterday.
- 2011-01-05 22:09 Unknown
- Seems strange how he has dissappeared agsin. I was hoping for him to be in the blue today. Come on King show yourself again, we need to know where you are. Maybe it is just kids that are taking them down. Wherever he is I hope he is ok. Liz xx
- 2011-01-05 21:59 ellejay
- That's brilliant claire, though I Am getting concerned now that my posters I put up in Ashgrove road are again not there !!!!
I put them up late last night with the OH, and he came home via shortlands. And said the ones we put up have gone.
Could be the council for ' flyering ' but that quick and around a quiet side road ???
I will do the same as I did last night and head down to the cemtary and the shops, behind the KFC and tescos is a back road where all the bins are, will go there about 11 ish again to see if he there..
He may have made his way furthur up Bromley or even diverted back to catford way... Beckenham high street also needs targeting incase he has head that way, - 2011-01-05 19:41 Claireg
- Ive been to Bromley Road this evening and postered up near the cemetary,(and put a poster though the door of the house on the front of the cemetary grounds)and postered along Bromley Road (going down towards Homebase). Ive also given a poster to Mcdonalds, and Pizza Hut on Bromley Road/Bromley Hill as they have delivery drivers out all the time on mopeds.
I emailed the Bromley Court Hotel today and attached a poster so hopefully they wilk keep an eye out too. - 2011-01-05 12:23 Pete
- I went to the cemetary last nignt, had a good look around. i repeated my usual whistle which king is very familiar with, but sadly no response. I then drove around some of the Downham estates, whistling and calling out his name but sadly no joy.i did meet some nice people walking their dogs, one nice lady suggested i put up some posters in downham playing fields as it used quite a lot for dog walking. will carry on the search and once again a big thank you for everybodys help with finding king.
- 2011-01-05 00:44 ellejay
- Did not see him, but a young guy about early 20s on a bike spoke to us and said he and his mate had seen a black dog about 6ish pm last night in Old bromley road... said he didnt know the breed of it, just it was black, he thought a guy a fair bit behind him was his owner.
Now he could just be saying that to be polite, or the dog could well have been with this other man... or the fact it is King and he is staying put in the area round the fast food shops on Bromley hill... he may have a hiding place somewhere round here...
so it's a case of postering heavily and hoping someone see's him soon. - 2011-01-05 00:10 ESSJ - Area Co-ordinator Rutland
- Best wishes and fingers crossed that King is found safe tonight x
- 2011-01-04 22:42 Claireg
- The sighting is great news, got everything crossed that King is found tonight. Im sure he will be home very soon !
- 2011-01-04 22:38 ellejay
- Don't worry he is coming with me,it's literally round the corner from us, and we can get some petrol whilst we there as it's opposite cematary, going to put some posters up round the back by the training ground as well.
- 2011-01-04 22:20 Millys Mum
- ellejay - that's good of you but as Lizzy says please take care. Can your OH go with you? What about contacting King's family to see whether they can join you or whether they've had any more reported sightings.Last edited: 2011-01-04 22:21:15 by Millys Mum

- You are doing a great job If I wasn't in Birmingham I would be helping you. Stay safe when you go out and hopefully you will see King. Liz xx
- 2011-01-04 21:57 ellejay
- I am going to go down to the mcdonalds in about an hour and have a look around, there will be plenty of food thrown on street around there at that time, always see the foxes ripping food boxes apart round there.
Also the back road that millwall training ground is on, that is a large fielded area, and the road is opposite the cematary.
Maybe best to get some posters on the Bromley hill heading all way up to main Bromley, incase he has made his way up there also.

- May be worth going to the shops later as he may come out for food. Good luck
- 2011-01-04 21:01 Millys Mum
- The sighting is really good news. As many of us know here on DogLost, missing dogs just love cemeteries and big old church yards and, as much as we all think we know our dogs, it really doesn't take them long to go into survival mode. Pete, be prepared for King not to rush over to you when you spot him. He may be wary and scared even of his own family. It is advised not to make direct eye contact and, if necessary, sit on the ground facing away from King and make wimpering sounds. Their curiosity will often get the better of them and get them wondering what their family are up to!
- 2011-01-04 18:59 Millys Mum
- Bumping up King due to today's sighting in Bromley Hill.
- 2011-01-04 15:43 ellejay
- I live right near Bromley Hill, we heard a dog barking last night around 2am, it started my dog off barking, it was definatly in the street as we could hear it out side our house, i kept looking out the front but could not see anything.
I wonder if he has made a Den in the cematary, there is plenty of fast food joints in the bromley hill shops that he may be getting scraps from, have you put a poster in the Downham pet shop on the high street ?
i have asked neighbours round here to look out for him, right my dog is going for loads of walks now, gonna go look round here to see if King is hiding somewhere.Last edited: 2011-01-04 15:46:31 by ellejay - 2011-01-04 14:05 Unknown
- Kept thinking about King last night. Hope you catch him today. Liz xx
- 2011-01-04 13:57 Pete
- We got King's sighting at around 11:30 this morning around the Bromley Hill not far from Downham. They said King was running frantically near the cemetary. I got there after 10 mins but cound't find him... we are going back again this afternoon and hopefully will find him. Regarding the Battersea, Odie was gone but they confirmed to me that he was 9 mths old and taken in the re-homing section by his owner. I also checked Lost & Found section but there was no german shepherd. I gave them King's poster and registered myself for 3 mths, so I will get the phone call if they see King there. Thank you so much ellejay and Claireg for putting up King's posters and I'll let you know how I got on in Bromley area later.
- 2011-01-03 20:36 Millys Mum
- Claireg - thank you and well done especially as it was SO very cold today. I'm sure King's family will be very grateful and also a big THANKS for organising for BPP to be covered tomorrow. As we know, oh so well, it's posters that are the SINGLE MOST IMPORTANT thing in getting our missing dogs back time and time again. Owners - you really can't have too many posters. We advise 100+ posters for starters but 200 or more is even better! Believe us when we say that you need to make King the best known and hottest boy in town!!!
- 2011-01-03 20:15 Unknown
- Thinking of King
- 2011-01-03 19:23 Claireg
- I put posters up at Forsters Park, Alexandra Park, Riverwalk Park, in the surrounding Bellingham/Sydenham areas and also left a poster at the pet shop in Sydenham High Street and at Mayow Road Vets. I'll organise for posters to be put up at BPP tommorow morning. Thanks for the mini flyers I'll get some of those printed off tonight.
If he has been taken then its really important to get as many people to be aware as possible. He is too distinctive to hide so anyone would be very silly to hold on to him for long. Im sure he will be home soon. - 2011-01-03 13:00 Millys Mum
- Pete - thanks for the update. Good luck at Battersea. It's really is best to go there in person and give them some of King's posters and also to let them know that you really care! They are VERY good at reuniting many of our SE missing dogs and so hope they will come up trumps yet again. I've just looked on the map again. Is it the park near Winsford & Dachet Roads which is close to the railway line between Lower Sydenham & Catford Bridge stations? I do know that the fencing along the railway line is pretty secure but, just in case, you need to call Network Rail on 0845 711 4141 to give them details but MAKE SURE YOU GET A REFERENCE NUMBER. It is unlikely but it's good to rule this out so that you can continue the search without having this in the back of your mind. Claireg - I will arrange for you to receive mini-flyers.Last edited: 2011-01-03 13:02:05 by Millys Mum

- The exact place where King went missing is just behind the big oak tree next to the play area called Bellingham Park. I'm going to the Battersea today and check if the dog is King. I'll let you know how I got on later. Also I checked the dog on preloved, he was sold back to London last night and the owner said he was not microchipped... he wasn't really helpful but I'm not 100% sure if he was King. Thank you all for your help and can't thank you enough. Last edited: 2011-01-03 12:44:22 by Pete

- Could you email me the mini flyers please. Some shops dont like putting up the full size posters but will accept the flyers. Has the vets in Mayow Road, Foxgrove Road and in Parish Lane been informed/have a poster?
Forster Park is off Whitefoot Lane so can poster that. My Dad visted BPP this morning and couldnt see any posters so need some more there too. - 2011-01-03 11:56 Millys Mum
- Thanks all for posting messages and postering. Yes, ellejay it does seem strange for the posters in Beckenham Place Park to be ripped down on a Sunday evening and so soon after you'd put them up. I've also advised King's family to check Gumtree, Pets4Homes, epupz, ukclassifield & preloved (ellejay - have I missed any as I know that you are a bit of an expert on these websites?!!) on at least a DAILY basis. And thanks keo61 - I will alert owners to your post. Claireg - I will ask Pete for the exact location of where King went missing from (and whether it's close to home) - I believe it's near to where the River Pool runs (owners can you confirm this please?). I don't know if Savacentre has been covered yet (a good idea about the night staff and the car washers). And Claireg, yes please to poster Forster park (it that the one off Whitefoot Lane?). If so, another of our DL missing dogs hung out in that park for a while. Also, whoever has King (which appears to be most likely) they would need to exercise him away from where he was 'lost'. I've texted my dog training friend (who has a special place in her heart for black GSDs) as she lives VERY close to Bellingham. Let me know if any of you would like the mini-flyers and I can arrange for you to receive them via email.
- 2011-01-03 10:49 Claireg
- Makes you wonder Ellejay if the posters have been ripped down purposely if he has been taken? Which side of BPP was it? I can put some more up tommorow and see if it happens again?
- 2011-01-03 10:46 Claireg
- Can you confirm exactly where Bellingham Park is. Is it the park directly behind the Savacentre? There are quite a few small green areas in the Bellingham/Catford/Sydenham areas.
I can put some posters up in the immediate area. If he has been taken then the more posters in the area the better to shame them into giving him back.
Has anyone approached the Savacentre yet ? They have alot of staff that work at night so can keep their eyes open when coming into/leaving work. Also would it be worth speaking the the car washers in the car park and given them a poster/flyer as they are there all day every day.
I can also poster Forsters park, if that one hasnt been done already?
Im sure we can find King, its too busy and area and he is a big distinctive dog not easy to hide ! Try and keep as positive as you can and dont give up. - 2011-01-02 23:43 ellejay
- I was just going to say about the preloved link, in shropshire, but we all know dogs can go far and wide.
I put some posters up along the side of BPPark around 5pm today, but just got home from being out over beckenham way and noticed some of the posters i put up are not there, strange for a Sunday evening !!
Could be kids ripping them down. - 2011-01-02 22:13 keo61
- There is a black GSD advertised on preloved website yesterday for £100 - there is a photo. link is

- hi, this is peter, as usual i revisited the spot where i lost king and spoke with some locals, as yet no one has seen him. i would like to add a big thank you to the site members who have been very helpful, especially millys mum.
- 2011-01-02 15:19 Millys Mum
- ellejay - good to hear that you have a posh new printer - thanks for postering (it's very cold out there & so wrap up warm!). Thanks you Ashmark for doing the mini-flyers. Owner, as I said, don't bother to print these in colour but, instead, buy some BRIGHT orange paper (or similar) and hand the flyers out to all and sundry. If the flyers are on coloured paper, then people will be able to find them more easily at home, in their pockets, handbags, etc. And finally (for the moment), my boy max, thank you for posting King's details on the biggsd site. All your input very much appreciated!Last edited: 2011-01-02 15:21:31 by Millys Mum

- Yep, we got a new printer so can now at last print of decent posters.
Will get postering round bromley hill, homebase end ,beckenham and clockhouse areas.
The more we get up everywhere, the more he will hopefully be spotted. - 2011-01-02 13:55 Millys Mum
- Pete - have sent you an email as promised.

- Have spoken to Pete at lunchtime today. They were out with their 2 others dogs searching for King and spreading the word that he is missing. I have requested mini-flyers to be sent to Pete's email address and have updated King's Missing poster. Although they are being helped by family and friends, they would be grateful for ANY help with postering, especially in the immediate area (I have advised putting mini-flyers through local letter boxes).

- Another local REALLY good place to poster is Homebase as there will be lots of people going there for the sale. Sometimes they can be a bit funny about displaying a poster inside the store (although I believe they have a customer noticeboard where you can pay to display) but I like to use a 2/3 of their trees. There is one tree on the corner as you are leaving the car park to turn into the roadway leading onto Beckenham Hill Road plus one at the newer entrance that leads to Bromley Road (A21). If you put them up neatly and discreetly they might not spot them & let them stay put. Pete, give me a call so that I can give you details of the kennels where the lost out-of-hours dogs are often taken. I would recommend contacting both Lewisham & Bromley Councils' dog warden service but as ellejay has already said, Battersea is a MUST but so good to hear that King is both tagged and chipped.Last edited: 2011-01-02 12:02:33 by Millys Mum

- Thanks Lizzy, ML, ellejay and Runfold Eddie (ellejay - is your printer up and running now?). Thanks for all your suggestions. I have texted King's owner and hope to speak to him soon regarding local contact numbers / suggestions, etc. Hope this boy is found very soon.

- And if you can go to where you lost him, before dawn and v late at night. They tend not to go too far away from where they went missing from, unless taken or driven away.

- Sorry to see this gorgeous boy is missing.
I am in bromley, so not to far from Bellingham .
Poster like mad, if you have not already done so, get a poster in foxgrove road vets in beckenham, they are very good for displaying posters, also downham pet shop. Ask sainsburys in bell green to put one up on their notice board , and try local cab firms.
Contact battersea dogs, foal farm in biggin hill, as well as the dog warden.
Target dog walkers in all parks in area, get posters up in beckenham place park.
I will get some printed off and poster round my way in case he has made his way up here.
Good luck and I hope he is home very soon. - 2011-01-01 21:29 ML

- I went back to the Riverpool Park in Bellingham this morning just in case King would come back to the place where he got lost. Met some people and described King to them and they said they would look out for him. Hope King will come back to us very soon.

- Sorry to see that KING is missing.
- If your dog is microchipped please let the microchip company know that your dog is missing and check that all details are up to date.
- Owners targeted by a malicious hoaxer demanding money for the return of their dog should phone the police on 101 immediately and contact admin@doglost.co.uk
- A photograph of your dog is essential for the website. If you have not already uploaded one, please do so by clicking on Update details. Alternatively you can email it to admin@doglost.co.uk quoting the dog's DogLost ID number: (27125)
- Obtain a missing poster by clicking on View poster above. Posters are very important so start postering now!
- You will need to be logged in to upload photos, edit your dog's details, or add comments. You can add comments by clicking on Click here to add a comment.
- Contact dog wardens, vets and local rescue centres, and in Scotland, the Police. Give a detailed description with any distinguishing marks/scars or send them a copy of your DogLost poster. You can find vets in your area here.
- If your dog has been stolen inform the police immediately and obtain a crime reference number (CRN). Send an email to stolen@doglost.co.uk.
- If your dog is picked up and taken to rescue kennels, it can be legally re-homed after seven days. Visit rescue centres in person and do not rely on checking by phone alone. Other people may not recognise your dog by your description, so give them a DogLost poster.
- Keep us updated by keeping your dog's page up to date and check for posts from helpers who may have suggestions and possible matches or sightings
- DogLost is free and anyone asking for money to find or return your dog is not volunteering for us. If you are concerned about an approach you have received, please email admin@doglost.co.uk
