- There's a website called Indigo Tags which supply dogs tags that you thread the flat holed part of the collar through and they are impossible for the dog to get off - they engrave them for you as well.

- Thanks for the info everyone, will get surname put on tomorrow, didnt know either.chip has been updated aswell,he now wears his collar at all times and with his chip tag and dog tag attached to his collar,he has become quite a wee star round our area and is doing really well, thanks to dogs lost once again xx

- I also have the word 'microchipped' on one side of the tag - particularly useful if, like me, one of your dog's chips has moved a bit! At least it makes sure the vet/authorities know to scan.

- No problem Millys Mum, I'm a dog trainer myself so I know that the info required on a tag catches a lot of people out!
Sorry, don't want to hijack Tyson's thread though - welcome home again gorgeous! x - 2011-01-12 11:32 Millys Mum
- A lovely reunited piccie. it looks like Tyson is very pleased to be back home and enjoying all the home comforts. He really is a lovely-looking dog. Smiler - thanks for updating me on the legal requirements cos I didn't know that the owner's surname is also a legal requirement! I obtained my info when our dogs passed their Kennel Club Good Citizens Tests and so thank you as we always endeavour to issue the correct advice here on DogLost.

- Yay! Welcome home, young man.
Can I just add a wee bit about the tag? The law requires that the owner's surname is on there too - we have Surname, House number, Postcode and Phone number on one side of the tag, and on the other side we have the word "Vet" and their phone number.
Great to see Tyson home though, what a lovely-looking boy. - 2011-01-12 08:25 Sable - Regional Co-ordinator - Scotland

- POLLYANNA we at DogLost are just delighted that you have your handsome Tyson back home safe and sound. He really is the most gorgeous-looking dog. And a huge, HUGE WELL DONE and thank you to the Croydon Police!!! POLLYANNA - we would just love you to stay on board as an active Helper because, although Croydon isn't that far from me in Beckenham, I really don't know the area at all and so your local knowledge and personal experience will certainly help other dogs (and their owners!) who are missing in your area. Now you are registered, you should automatically receive email alerts for future dogs missing in your area but would you also keep an eye an our website as you may also like to keep and eye on all missing Staffies and Staffie crosses. Please let us know if you don't receive our email alerts by calling the main DogLost number. But finally, welcome home Tyson and as ellejay has already said, please get him an ID tag to compliment his chip ASAP. The tag shouldn't divulge his name nor your full address. The legal requirement is house number, full postal code and preferably 2 telephone contact numbers.Last edited: 2011-01-05 12:21:46 by Millys Mum

- Absolutely fantastic news. So pleased for you. Really suprised the police took him, good on Croydon police station ! They're not allowed to take dogs in anymore & even getting them to write down details of a dog lost or found is difficult. Huge relief & hope they gave you the opportunity to thank the person who handed him in. What a star ! Seeing this has made my day :)

- Rob, sorry to see your boy is missing.
Postering really is the key, get as many out as you can, poster vets, supermarket notice boards, hand out to dog walkers in parks, local cab firms etc...
Contact battersea asap to see if he had been handed in, contact croydon dog warden also,
Look on all free ad websites like pets4homes, ukclassifieds, gumtree, preloved, and nationalmissingpet register in case someone has him and advertising they found him.
He Is a beautiful boy so someone may decide to keep him and not report it so postering is very important.
Good luck and hope he is home soonLast edited: 2011-01-01 22:30:51 by ellejay - 2011-01-01 21:43 robz10
