- Rocky's sister Luna is home from the vets tonight. They had a very sweet, tender reunion. We have to take very good care of her for the next few weeks, lots of calm and rest, but she's looking in remarkably good shape, and hopefully will be fine. We've been incredibly lucky.

- Lisa - thanks for updating us with the full reunited story. It made me smile when you said that it was actually a woman who approached poor, frightened Rocky, whilst the men stood back and made the phone call! What a caring person she must be. I'm so pleased to hear that handsome Rocky is none-the-worse for his mini adventure - I guessed he wouldn't have ventured too far after the scare of his 'sister' being involved in the RTA. I suspect that the fencing panel has already been mended. As you say, strange that they used this opportunity (your birthday!) to chase off after Mr Fox. It's good to hear that Rocky is catching up on his beauty sleep and I suspect, tonight, you will all be doing the same. Please keep us updated on this page regarding Luna's progress - keeping everything crossed for her that she will make a full recovery. But just wanted to say that it was an absolute pleasure to help you because you listened, took on board our advice and were prepared to do just about anything to get Rocky back home!!

- Hi there, so pleased to be able to report that Rocky is utterly unscathed and is snuggled up to Matt on the couch, unable to keep his eyes open. We were out last night (my birthday, not exactly my best yet) and left some friends at home who were staying night at our house. The 2 dogs got out, chasing a fox, through a loose panel in the fence we hadn't known about. Odd because they have never, ever tried to get out before, but probably the combination of fox excitement and strangers at home was all too much for them. We reckon they were frolicking around local roads for about 20 minutes or so, when Luna got hit by a car. Rocky ran off. It seems he made it across quite a busy main road on to Streatham Common, through the common and by 10pm had found a corner round the back of some flats where he wimpered and howled for most of the night. Some local men had known he was there for quite some time but were too nervous to approach him. Eventually, this afternoon a lovely lady resident in the block got him some food, water and a blanket, befriended him, and read the number on his collar disc to the guys who called me. One of the best phonecalls I've received in a long time.
Luna has had to have an operation on her liver. She was critical last night, but as time goes on the prognosis gets better and better. Fingers crossed for tonight.
Big, big thanks to Kate in the NE who rang me earlier this morning, and to Milly's Mum, both of whom were a tremendous help in letting us know exactly what to do to stand the best possible chance of getting our dog back.

- Thanks Jayne and Ashmark for doing the email alerts and mini-flyers. wickedweims spoke to me this morning and I have now spoken to a member of Rocky's family. Their friends were gathering at their home this morning armed with laminators, etc. They are preparing to go out, spread the word and make Rocky the best-known and hottest boy in town. They have contacted the microchip company and have left a message with Battersea's Premium Line number but will try again later as would like to speak to someone direct. I have suggested the local sorting office, cab offices and local pubs. Have advised them to get a big stack of mini-flyers photocopied onto BRIGHT ORANGE paper (or similar) to hand out to all and sundry. That way, when someone spots Rocky, they will have his contact details to hand rather than having to return to a poster. Also printing them onto brightly-coloured paper means that people will be able to find them more easily in their pockets or handbags. It is also crucial that ALL local roads / houses receive a mini-flyer through their letter boxes as many 'finders' don't know that they need to alert the local dog warden service if a dog has been found by them. I have asked Rocky's family to update us later and once they have a moment as it is important that they get out there today (decent weather here) and spread the word. BTW Luna, their other dog, who was involved in the RTA has made it through the night and now has an increased recovery rate. PLEASE, ARE THERE ANY HELPERS OUT THERE WHO KNOW THE AREA AND WHO ARE ABLE TO HELP?! Last edited: 2011-01-09 12:36:26 by Millys Mum
