- Sally thanks for updating with Lily's story. Sadly this sort of thing does happen quite often and not just here but nationwide and it is so frustrating and upsetting for poor owners desperate to get their dogs back. We should be able to trust the system will work but everytime I see a case like Lily's it just goes to confirm that every owner needs to persist in contacting their dog wardens and stray kennels. I always advise owners to go to the stray kennels in person with a poster of their dog and ask if they can look at all the dogs held at the kennels so they can go home assured their dog is not there. In your case you were on the ball and persisted until Lily WAS located but I worry about owners who do not do the same as you and think they can trust the system and also think that as their dog is chipped they will be reunited as soon as picked up via the chip ........... this does not always happen unfortunately !! As you have discovered ! I am sure Lily enjoyed her steak pie ...lucky girl ! Welcome gorgeous girl and please stay safe from now on xx Pam

- Thank you Yettontop for your offer of help, but I am pleased to say Lilly is home safe and well! We called the dog warden on Sunday evening and 4 times on Monday to be told that no dog had been collected. At lunchtime on Monday we tried again - they then told us a dog had been picked up on Sunday at 3.45pm in Upper Heaton and taken to the kennels. We had even called the kennels on Monday morning and were told that no dogs had come in the night before - but she had arrived there at 9pm!! She is chipped but I don't know if they had scanned her because we then had to wait for them to re-contact us to say it was Lilly and that we could collect her. Just a little surprised that a chipped dog could take so long to be reunited - all the vets that I had spoken to had reassured me that once she was found it would be a quick process getting her back to us. Also think this could be useful info for anyone else who loses their dog in Huddersfield as the not knowing where she was on sunday night was absolute torture! So happy she is home - we took her to the Strines for a much deserved Steak pie! Xx

- I live in the area - which part of the village did she escape in? I walk Dalton Bank each day - is she likely to be on this side? Can do some postering of the Nature Reserve and near the school - or wherever. have you put a poster in Costcutter and the paper shop and Co-op? Lots of people see those notice boards. I can help if you like?
