Katy, owner rang about 10 minutes ago to thank everyone for their help and said how pleased they are to have Koke back. Great you are going to be able to have him as a guest when they go on holiday. Family will be getting him CHIPPED a.s.a.p. Regards the Police it is always best to contact the Dog Warden direct, also register them on DogLost this is something you will now know if ever you find another straying dog. It is great that it has all worked out and Koko is back home with his family. A massive thanks again. Jan x

Hi, Katy here. Returned Koke earlier today..... very sad to see him go but I know he is going back to a very loving home. I can't imagine what they were going through, I was heartbroken to see him leave and I only knew him for 6 days, they have had him for a year, so very pleased to see they have been reunited. The family are going on holiday in July and have said that I can look after him while they are away which is really good of them, roll on July! Am quite disappointed in the police service we were given. We phoned the police straight after we rescued Koke to Spalding police station, however, we told them the exact location that Koke was picked up, as we are not from that area. They also told my dad that they would inform the dog warden. After speaking to Koke's owner today I was told that he had reported Koke missing to Holbeach police station...surely this should have been picked up on their system? Also the dog warden wasn't informed. I was really suprised by the gifts the owners had for me, flowers, chocolates, a thank you card....and some money. Really appreciate it and wasn't expecting it. But would do the same again....apart from this time I'd know not to become too attached!!! lol, thank you everyone for your lovely comments, they have made me feel so much better. Love katy x

Mel thanks for the lovely update. Katy surely sounded very young on the phone and I was shocked when she said how old she was, Katy can you give us any tips? You have all done a sterling job and Koke's family will be so happy that he has been found and is o.k. WELL DONE and THANK YOU. Jan x

Hi I think we have you're dog here and he is safe & sound. I was driving with my daughter along the A17 mid day on wednesday when all the traffic came to a halt, this little yorkie had missed going under the wheels of a lorry by just inches, I halted the traffic whist my daughter Katy got out and rescued Koke from what would have been a fatality. We reported this to the police within 15 minuets who took our details, within this short time my daughter had fallen in love!!! so rather than take him to a dog warden we told the police that we would be more than happy to home him until the owner came forward. That same day I put a post on a lost animal site similar to this one (if you look you're see it), then we took Koke to our local vets for a check up & scan, result = no microchip and in good health, so it looks like a happy ending to what COULD have been a very sad one..
Now here's the sad part for us, my daughter is crying her eyes out at the moment, because in just these few days the pair of them have been the very best of friends, we've called him ''Lucky'' and he's really made himself at home here, sleeping on Katys bed and being a right bundle of fun, so no rush to collect him.
Sorry for the long story, but had the police done their job right and informed the dog warden which they informed they would do, then this situation could have been resolved sooner, also if this site and the lost animals site that I posted on were somehow linked together then maybe Koke would have been reunited with his owner much sooner. I tried to phone Kokes owners earlier, but no reply, so will phone again later. Great site BTW and nice to see so many folk that care. Back for some last cuddles with Koke now!! A GREAT little fella, he's had a bath & been for loads of walks with Katy who said she would be more than happy to return him in the week if the owner is too busy. Best Regards, Mel (Katys dad)

Hi, I saw the owner on Friday searching, as they live on my road and I went back to help but she had gone. I know how awful it is to lose a beloved pet and I wanted to help. I have called this morning and left my number and will be out with our two dogs walking today and will keep a look out. I would also say, contact the local farmers and ask them to keep a look out, as dogs tend to hide out in warm places like the barn & outbuildings. If you need anything, please call and we will be more than happy to help.

Have spoken to the owners and Koke went missing from outside their house, the owner will be calling me back later today as he was busy when I called. The Dog Warden has been notified. I have stressed how important to get posters up in the area where Koke went missing. I will E-mail General information and contact numbers for local vets, stay safe Koke until you are found xxx
