UPDATE email received:

Beauty is settling back in brilliantly and remembers all her dog friends she was separated from for that awful six weeks. She couldn't wait to get up those steps in the garden which lead onto the canal towpath where she was taken. Obviously the experience hasn't scarred her!

Spoken to family member this morning after I posted and moved Beauty into the BLUE.

Cannot go into much detail but she was found in the STOKE area and the POSTERS worked their magic once again. The whole family/extended family have been briliant and all involved in searching for Beauty and have been travelling to Stoke on a regular basis. She has been looked after but does need time to settle back home with family and her litter brother and other family dog. REUNITED photo/s have been requested which hopefully we should get a.s.a.p.

It is such a relief to see Beauty back home and she will be getting CHIPPED and TATTOOED a.s.a.p. will give advice to family on where to get her TATTOOED. The Liverpool DW's have said they will CHIP her. I've also advised they get her SPAYED a.s.a.p.

WELL DONE to all the family for not giving up, you worked your socks off and if paid off for you.

Thank you to each and everyone of you who has helped in the search spreading the word you are all stars.

I also receive an email this morning from the family member I spoke to earlier today. The family would like to pass on their THANKS for all the help and support they have had.

A MASSIVE welcome home Beauty lots and lots of hugs and cuddles from everyone on DL. Jan x

is there some connection with canals ? i live near the shropshire union canal and can put some posters up there if it helps.
Just a note, any dog that comes to our training club and is docked is given the full spanish inquisition as to why the dog is docked so if she turns up at ours for any reason i'll be on full alert

Thanx Lizzy and Smiler for clarifying that. Dont Northern Ireland follow UK laws then? What a shame, let's just hope she us unusual in the area she us in.
I wish I could preach to the world the importance of an up to date microchip and I mean EVERYONE so that if this dog isn't found in a while she could still be ID'd. So so sad.
Good luck to the owners in tracing your girl. My heart is with you all the way.

As tail docking is still legal in Northern Ireland it is, sadly, very common to see docked Rottie (and other) pups where I live in Scotland.

Hopefully it is more unusual in the area where Beauty is believed to be and she will stand out more. Sending warmest wishes for her safe recovery X

Rosah Lyn, appreciate your concerns about Beauty being docked, I brought this up as soon as I spoke to owners and did post on 24.02.11 that Beauty was docked before her family got her. As it is now this is going to be the key to getting her back HOME.

The family and extended family have been working really hard in their search for her and they are getting results which will hopefully see Beauty go into the blue. Jan x

As an owner of 2 Rotti's, I am rather disturbed that a 5 month old has a docked tail. Our vet reports people who bring young docked dogs in.

On the bright side, docked tails are rare since being illegal so hopefully this puppy will stand out. Such a shame she wasn't Microchipped too. They're so cute at this age..... It's when they get to 18 months approx when they get abandoned so I truly hope tail less Beauty is found. Make it very obvious on posters! Also it's good with vets/rescues too if they spot her.

If only licensing and a compulsory microchip was required. Makes me so sad for this girl.

A female Rottie has been found in Wigan, which is 30min drive away, she could have been picked up and taken there. Doesn't say puppy, just medium build, but at 5mths I suppose some would class her as medium. it's on Animal wardens site.

I don't know the area at all, but do you get any fishermen along the canal or boating traffic you could ask to keep a look out for her? Are there any boat hire places that could be asked to display posters incase she's been picked up by someone in a boat?

Had a long chat with owner, all the family are doing a fab job in their search for Beauty. The right people have been contacted. Posters have been getting put up and handed out. A paid add should be going in the paper tomorrow and family have been in touch with other free papers who have said they would put something in. I've emailed further info/advice.

Beauty went missing while on a walk, she has been registered on DL by another family member.

Keeping everything crossed owner get the call they are waiting for and we see her in the BLUE. Jan x
