Welcome home Fred - can't understand why people buy dogs off strangers but I am so glad when they find their rightful owners. Liz xx

Alison this is fab news, you have worked so hard spreading the word on Fred and it has paid off for you. He will soon be back to normal with plenty of TLC which we are sure he will be getting from you and the family. Welcome home Fred lots of hugs and cuddles from everyone on DL. Over the BLUE you go. Jan x
Alison
Thank you all so much. My husband has just collected my dog from someone who bought him from a stranger on the day he went missing. He is thin but ok.

Will put Fred on twitter + circulate.

Sorry Jan I have no idea. I didn't know there was a difference really. The finder didn't give anymore details. I suggested she register dog on here but haven't seen anything since. Long shot I know.

Thanks Helen for posting, do you know if the dog was an ESS? Fred could be anywhere now, he is CHIPPED so hopefully if scanned it is picked up. Will alert owner to your post. Jan x

Don't know if it's a really long shot but someone found a dog in Tattenhall. No description as has gone to DW. Just wondering if he may have been taken further afield. From Twitter: RT @absoluteheart: If anyone has lost a male springer spaniel near Tattenhall Icecream farm going 2 dog warden tonight DM me & RT please

I know how thorough you are, Jan, in giving a list of contacts to owners to enquire about their lost dog, but is Southport RSPCA on that list (tel. 01704 567624)?

My deepest thanks to you all for your support. Sadly there has been no sightings at all or any information about Fred. Our local newspaper are writing an article this week, hopefully that may spark someones memory. We keep going back to the place we last saw him each day just in case.

Thanks littlehelper for posting and well done for taking the time to care for the dog yesterday.

No-one has reported Fred as found, he is CHIPPED and did have a collar on with contact number for his family, he has not been reported to the DW/AW either. But sometimes it does happen that finders do not know they should report a found dog and who to report them to. The family member who was walking Fred was yards behind and if someone had picked him up so quickly they would of seen his walker. Family have been doing a great job contacting everyone and putting posters up around the area. Hopefully someone will recognise him and when he goes in the paper that will help spread the word. Jan x

someone must have thought he was lost and picked him up, Isaw a dog yesterday, got out of my car to pick him up and a man came round the corner a few mins later and it was his dog, I told him he was very lucky I was just about to take it to the rescue centre, so hopefully someone has done the same

Spoken to owner, they have contacted the right people and started putting posters up in the area. When the family member who was walking got back to the carpark there was only two other cars on there, one of them seemed to speed off. Fred normally runs ahead and sits waiting by the car but he was nowhere to be seen, there is a possibility he has been STOLEN. Fred is used to the area and is walked there alot, it is approx 5 miles from his home.

Owner said they have sent a photo to Admin which I've just checked cannot see any photo/s from them in the emails. Owner may not be able to get a photo to us until tomorrow as it is another family member who uses the computer. I've updated the details to show up on the DL poster and did ask owner to send a few photo/s of Fred to do a multi pic. Jan x

Thanks Ashmark, I'll try and contact family a.s.a.p. He has been registered with the AW's and if handed in he would be taken to Halewood RSPCA 0151-486-1706. Jan x
