- Reply from identichip confirming chip is for life:
"I can confirm that the microchip lasts for life. The phone line for reporting your pet missing is open during office hours only. However, vets, rescue centres and dog wardens all have a 24 hour helpline that they can contact us on so that they can always get owners' details and get pets back
home at any time.
Regards,
Charles,

- Joe thats frightening, can anyone do anything more cruel than pick out a microchip,I wondered if this happens and evidently it does.Again its horrifying but it doesnt surprise me,The people involved in dog robbing for purpose take cruelty to a whole new level yet such spinless cowards and scrubbers(buy your own dogs!) "Locate"thats the name of the service you can purchase from annibase its not compulsory and you can buy it anytime if your dogs already chipped with annibase(millies mums has done some research and it sound like all the microchip companies offer a similar service) you can even buy it after your dog went missing albeit app £24,99 opposed to £17.95. If you buy this service you have to let them know your dogs lost or stolen and it claims to contact every vets, kennels, rescue centre`s etc with in a 20 mile radius of where lost i thought by email with photo of your dog on, i think they print some posters too. It is for eight years only.Unlike your micro chip which i thought was a lifetime thing but weve heard stories of them not being detected someone wrote an example on here earlierIts not an alternative to chip just help you find him. Hope it makes some sense.Gail xxx

- Worrying comments from Milly mom. My dog has an Identichip chip, so I've just e mailed them with queries re life time cover & phone coverage. The documentation issued at the time of 'chipping' my boy doesn't say anything about 8 years & I believe it is life time cover. It does make it clear that change of details incurs an admin cost of £5.
I've been on their web site & the confussion may be due to them offering extended cover at a cost of £17.95 for 8 years which then provides 24 x 7 phone cover, free change of details and additional help in finding your dog (a service I wasn't aware of).
Will update details re life time cover & phone coverage when I have a reply - rather important points!
Still smiling about Mia's safe return and hoping she recovers quickly with all the love and care from her mom & dad - what a dreadful experience for all concerned. - 2011-06-15 18:11 Millys Mum
- Jackalee - continuing your 'off-topic' post I picked up some of the Vets Get Scanning leaflets at a dog show and what alarmed me, when I read their advice sheet, was that it stated that Petlog (Premium) give full 24/7 Lost & Found cover and also cover for life whereas Anibase (Locate) only offer telephone cover for 'Lost calls' between 0900-1700 hrs Mon-Fri and provide 24/7 for 'Found calls' but the cover is only valid for 8 years!!! The latter includes Identichip, Virbac & PetCode. There's another chip company mentioned on the sheet called Avid (PETtracPlus) which provides full 24/7 for lost & found calls (it doesn't mention whether it offers lifetime cover or not). I was VERY surprised and further concerned that our vets, who used to use Identichip chips, were unaware of the poor cover (one of our own dogs has an Identichip chip which, the sheet states, that owners are able to transfer details for a 'one-off charge'). I've never queried this with Identichip and asked if the statement is correct but will get around to asking them soon. Just thought others might be interested or that someone knows to the contrary.Last edited: 2011-06-15 18:16:48 by Millys Mum

- I for one now get my boy's microchip checked every time I go to the vets as a result of things I have seen on DL. While we are on the subject of chipping, has anyone seen the scheme 'Vets Get Scanning' (going a bit off topic here, sorry) but it's a scheme started by Bruce Forsyth after his daughters dogs were stolen. You can download a letter to take to your vets to encourage them to scan for chips, especially any newly registered pets. It won't solve the problem of missing / stolen dogs but it may help reunite a few more. http://www.vetsgetscanning.co.uk/index.htm
Mia is now safe, unfortunately no thanks to the chip in this instance but with lots of time and TLC from her wonderful owners I am sure she will be feeling better soon. Can't wait to see updates on how she is doing :)

- Scootjockey has rasied some very valid points re microchipping, I worked in a veterinary practice for 5 years, and although not a regular occurance, microchips do for some reason 'vanish'. When we used to microchip animals, we always advised owners to revisit 2 weeks after the initial implanting to check that it had settled and was working, sometimes scabs occur over the site and if these are 'picked' the microchip can be pulled out, along with the scab. Othertimes the microchip isnt 'released' from the instrument that implants it, and this may not be noticed. Vets should always check an animals microchip when they go to the practice for any routine appointments to check they are still working and to see if they have migrated. I have been led to believe that after the microchip has been checked after the two week intial period, there is minimal risk of the microchip vanishing although it may migrate away from between the shoulders where it is traditionally placed. x

- THANKS FOR THE UPDATE TIGERMOUSE. IT HAS INDEED BEEN A TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE FOR MIA AND HER OWNERS AND WILL PROBABLY BE A WHILE BEFORE EVERYTHING SETTLES BACK TO NORMAL. POOR MIA-WE DONT KNOW WHAT SHE HAS BEEN THROUGH BUT IM SURE SHE WILL SOON SETTLE AND HER SKIN CONDITION IMPROVE XX
- 2011-06-14 16:42 Tigermouse
- Just to let you all know that today I've been to visit lovely Mia and her mum and dad Doreen and Steven. Understandably it has been, and still is, a very emotional time, and getting Mia from the kennels wasn't exactly straightforward, but no doubt Steven will post an update when he's able. At the moment Mia is very unsettled and clingy and her skin condition isn't good, but with time, medication, and lots of love from her mum and dad she can only improve. It was just so lovely to see her back home where she belongs, with her family.
Doreen and Steven, I hope you don't mind me posting this. It was lovely to see you and thanks for the brew - and once again WELCOME HOME MIA!Last edited: 2011-06-14 16:43:33 by Tigermouse - 2011-06-14 15:31 scootjockey
- Kerryms very well said! if this is the case and people are starting to question how effective the microchip really is and if i was one of the 4 companies producing and promoting and storing data then id be looking into this problem if it is a problem, i say if because I dont know if the chips advertise as a lifelong form of ID or has a life expectancy of X number of years and recommend they be checked and replaced as and when. Can anyone shed some light? Our Labrador (who admittedly was a good age who we lost at 14 yrs old)was chipped and over the years his chip migrated to the bottom of his hind leg the vet scanned Huzzie and Tay every visit.this happens but as for disappearing. Weve discussed this topic umpteen times and never made the call which would explain it.gail xxxLast edited: 2011-06-14 15:47:54 by scootjockey

- I am so pleased to see Mia is back home and I hope she recovers very quickly. I think a formal complaint needs to be made to the Local Authority that employs the dog warden that was no unhelpful as it looks as if something odd is going on with the tie up between the warden and the kennels. If you contact the LA they have a duty to tell you how to make a formal complaint. The complaint will be logged and if you are not the only people who have been treated so appallingly then these complaints will gradually build up. Further, someone at the LA has a duty to investigate the complaint and, if nothing else, it might make the warden a bit wary of acting so badly again. How many other dogs has he/she prevented from being reunited with their owners and why? Any normal dog lover would have bent over backwards to help the poor dog, especially when she was in such bad condition. I wish Mia and her connections the very best for the future.

- Am so so pleased this story has a happy ending, i have followed this story from the beginning because I lost my dog at a similar time and it was this fantastic website and the people involved who re united us. Fortunately I was only without Cooper for 3 days however like Mia my dog was chipped but ended up in some kennels after being picked up by the dog warden. They stated that he wasn't chipped so I asumed that it must have migrated but when the vet checked him, it scanned straight away in the exact spot it should have been. If it hadn't have been for dog lost I never would have got him back. If i was cynical person I may ask "is there more money to be made in selling pedigree dogs on then trying to re-unite them with their owners??" Hope Mia is well and makes a full recovery xxLast edited: 2011-06-14 13:59:47 by kerryms

- Absolutely brilliant news, so pleased for Mia and Mia's family, a very happy ending! as for the DW and centre she was kept at, they should be totally ashamed of themselves and the way they have behaved towards the family......what if the family hadn't persisted on seeing her and had taken the DW's word that the found dog was not MIA!!! Doesn't bear thinking about!
welcome home Mia, wishing you a speedy recovery! xx - 2011-06-13 19:40 Puddies

- ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC news. What an exciting day for everyone. Thank you to everyone who sent texts and tried to ring while I was in work. Managed to speak to Sarah (Doreen’s daughter) who had also rang with the news. Mia travelled back with Joe her sole mate (he is in the photo with her).
Everyone has worked so hard and it has paid off good style. This goes to prove exactly what we always recommend DO NOT RELY ON A CHIP, great when they work but not when they are missed.
Family can get back to some normality now and get well earned rest, but it is going to take a while for Mia to get back to normal, we all know she is in the best place now and back with her family who love her so much.
Would like to thank each and everyone of you who has helped but would like to say a special THANK YOU and WELL DONE to Gashunguru who registered her found details and supplied them most important photo/s. You are a true star and have a lot to be thanked for.
So pleased Doreen and Steve have got the result they and everyone wanted and worked so hard for especially after the traumatic weekend, when they had set off and had to turn back due to setbacks.
Look forward to the REUNITED photo/s when family have come down from cloud nine. A massive WELCOME HOME Mia wishing you a speedy recovery and great to see you in the BLUE. Lots and lots of hugs and cuddles from everyone on DL. Jan x - 2011-06-13 17:58 ML

- I am delighted that Mia is home. I hope an official complaint will be made in due course regarding the local council official ie dog warden who was obstructive. This may prevent a similar thing happening to someone else's beloved pet.

- I heard the news a couple of hours ago from the wonderful Abby who posted Mia on the 'Found' page last week. Abbys friends found Mia wandering in Scarborough and now here we are with this awesome news! I think the power of Doglost and a group of extremely determined people who refused to give up in the face of ridiculous bureaucracy, not least Mia's owners, has proven that anything is possible if all the pieces of the jigsaw fall into place at the right moment...This is something we believed happened in our search for Milo last year when he was found...Good luck to Mia,especially in her fight back to fitness, and her delighted owners and a massive WELL DONE to all involved, you are all amazing!

- My heart goes out to you at this distressing time, I can only imagine the heartbreak you are going through when you are so near and yet so far. I really don't know how the dog warden and the kennels can have such a callous attitude, you would have thought they would have been glad to let someone see Ruby/Mia if it meant that she could be reunited with her owners after all that she has clearly been through. I think they need a very urgent lesson in customer service and compassion!! Fingers crossed that this really is Mia and you can finally bring her home to where she belongs. Good luck for tomorrow Doreen, Steven and Joe, I'll be thinking of you all the way xx

- Please be assured for those who have concerns about her medical treatment, that she is recieving all the treatment she needs, and an independant vet also visited her and assessed her medical needs on Sat afternoon, all she needs now is to come home to us, joe and all her teddies.
- 2011-06-12 14:17 Joe
- I felt heartbroken, angry and frustrated that they were not willing to try and united us, they seemed more concerned that I knew a DDb was in there care then finding the owners. I have since made arrangments to go to Cliff Top on Monday to view Mia and try to prove that she is our beloved Mia, i am almost 99.9% sure it is her, she looks a far cry from her formor self and the pictures are too distressing to show, but iam asured that with time and treatment and mediaction she will get better. I just need to prove to Cliff Top on Monday that its Mia. I have all her documents, photos of her and were taking Joe with us too, we just hope she will recognise us and they let us take her home, were she belongs. I will let you all know the outcome, no doubt if its her EVERYONE will know. thanks for all your efforts.

- Hi everyone and sorry i have not been in contact, i have been feeling so distrougt A person in Scarsburgh found a DDB and kept her over night and took pics of her. The following morning she was taken to Cliff Top Resuce Centre, DDB rescoue site rang me to say they thought this dog maybe Mia and sent me the shocking pictures of Mia, i rang Cliff Top Rescue to make arrangments to view and indentify the DDB has i also believed it was Mia especially from the pictures. Cliff Top were more interested in how i knew a DDB was in there care then making arrangments to reunite us and i was accused of breaking data protection, they were adimant it was not Mia and told me that i could not visit. I felt sick to my stomach and did not sleep all night. The next day i rang the dog warden who happens to be the daughter of the owner of Cliff Top (dodgey or what?) and told her about the web sites Mia was on so she could view the pictures and i gave her the crime ref number. We waited for a call back but it took ages so we decided to set off for Scarsbouger, half way down the motorway she rang me back and said we could not view Mia as she felt it was not Mia and there was a vast difference in age... Surely it was worth viewing her?

- that poor girl :-( hope and pray this is Mia he owners have been through so much they deserve a positive outcome.but if not it's good that she will be nursed back to health and find a loving forever home.xx
- 2011-06-12 01:28 lf2000
- hi all... just an update from ddbr&r... please thank everyone for there kind words about us, xx ok mia/ruby, the dog warden has been told that as this dogues ownership is still to be decided they cannot make any decisions regarding her future until she has been viewed by her possible owner, also she is currently on medication to releve the itching of the mange so she is cumfortable, in the event that ruby is not mia then ddbr&r will be bringing her into our own rescue and bringing her back to full health before rehoming her in a fully vetted home, if she does come here we will be doing a daily update on her progress xxxx
- 2011-06-11 19:42 lf2000
- will see if i can find out sj100 :)
- 2011-06-11 18:22 SJ100
- I hope Ruby is getting some medical treatment already and they are not neglecting her at the kennels just because they think she's only got seven days. I am willing to make a donation towards her treatment.
- 2011-06-11 18:19 SJ100
- I feel so sorry for Mia's owners that they have not been allowed to see if 'Ruby'is their dog. Perhaps we could make sure the kennels and the dog wardens know about DogLost and if they read these posts they may show a little more kindness.

- Well I'm gobsmacked!! What can I say?? Who the hell does the dog warden think she is to deny access to those who could possibly be the dogs owners?? Some people just shouldn't have jobs like that, a bit of compassion for both the dog and Mia's owners would go a long way. Thank god there has now been some official intervention and Mia's owners will get to see the dog on Monday - I do so hope this has a good outcome for everyone, especially the poor little girl who is in the middle of all this. Fingers, toes and paws crossed for Monday!

I'm so excited we might find her real owner so would love to hear from anyone when they know. My mobile number is on the poster for Ruby. - Doreen/Steven, don't give up on this one. If these people do have Mia and/or know where she is, and the police visited on Friday then it may have been enough for them to hide her temporarily. I feel there's something not quite right about this (though I could be wrong) and maybe it would be an idea to go back there and walk round at different times and days

- I could put posters around Radcliffe, Bury, whitefeild etc, the only problem is my printer is not working, but if someone sent me some I could do a 10 mile radius and all the parks and pubs.
- 2011-05-06 21:25 warrito
- Tigermouse, I cant do tomorrow, but I have spoke to Doreen and have given her the house number of where this look alike dog lives, I went down and the dog was sat in the window but I couldnt tell if it was a boy or girl, made enquiries to see what they call this dog and the name they call it is...DOG, I think Doreen is going tomorrow, wishing her lots of luck.

- RileysMum, the poster seen may have been a DL printed from directly from here, the writing and photo is smaller, the word doc ones I've done are a lot bigger. Tried to contact Doreen to see what posters they are putting up; last time we spoke they were the ones I'd done and emailed to them. These were also emailed to some helpers that I knew were helping in the area.
If anyone is able to help with the postering please let us know and various size posters can be emailed to you. Thanks. Jan x - 2011-05-06 16:51 warrito
- Tigermouse, I have phoned the owner and passed on info, they are going over to see,It made me look because the lads are about 18-20 yrs old and the area is a bit rough, I will phone the owners later to see if they had any joy ,and post on here later, and we will go from what they say,
- 2011-05-06 12:42 Tigermouse
- Warrito, that sounds really positive. I've just had a look at the A-Z for that area and can see that Ulundi Street is near Radcliffe High School and not that far from Dunelm, so this would tie in with previous sightings, especially the one by a schoolteacher. I'm free up to about 2.30pm tomorrow (Saturday), it won't take me long to get over there and I can park on Dunelm car park. Do you fancy meeting up and we can have a scout round together?

- Thanks bossyboots for the alert on the found ones.
KazW, if the posters can stay up that would be great, it helps broaden the area and someone may recognise her who could travel to where she may be. Thanks again for all your help and also Tigermouse. Jan x - 2011-03-29 23:02 Tigermouse
- Fingers, toes and everything crossed that one of these two is Mia

- Hi, I phoned steve today about a female dogue that was found last week and is now in Manchester Dogs Home. May be a long shot but worth a look. Also on the animal warden website there is a female dogue found on the 17th Feb in BL9 Bury area. If doreen or steve go on this website there are reference numbers and a contact number. May be worth looking.

- Hi everyone, we have had more sightings of Mia in the spotland area, running across a park near it, also there are woodlands right near it. were hoping she is hiding in them, she will be scared. we have gone up there today. Fingers and toes crossed. It has to be her!! XXXX
- 2011-03-25 08:50 BAC
- Syke common is about a mile away from spotland road. I have only just seen these sightings-not everyone checks dog lost daily-it would be useful to get emails of sightings at the time. I could have gone to Spotland rd yesterday.
- 2011-03-25 08:46 BAC
- I am in Rochdale and can keep an eye open on Spotland Road area. I have passed info on to all my members at BAC Agility who live around the areas. If you have any further info of places to check-contact me
- 2011-03-25 07:48 angi
- I'm so pleased she has been sighted again. Come on sweetheart show yourself to your family today. I will. Have everything crossed Xx
- 2011-03-25 05:06 Kaz
- Sorry with work at the moment can`t do Rochdale but will cont. to do Radcliffe, for Rochdale you could try Cath at on track training, is there a RSPCA centre near where she was seen if my mind is not playing tricks its a re-homing centre.
- 2011-03-24 21:12 Majorjet (Jan) - Area Co-ordinator - Liverpool/Merseyside, North West
- Thanks Doreen for updating us, glad you have managed to post yourself, I am also having problems with Internet connections. Make sure you mark all sightings on a map so we can see if she is travelling in a triangle which is common with dogs on the loose.
Tigermouse I googled it and yes Rochdale came up. I'll put Radcliffe and Rochdale in the poster details. Jan x - 2011-03-24 20:25 Tigermouse
- Last two posts confirm my thought that Spotland Road isn't Radcliffe - unfortunately due to work commitments Rochdale is too far away for me to search just now.
- 2011-03-24 19:58 trotter
- We had two sightings off mia today in rochdale she was seen running up spotland rd this rd runs infromt of liddal behind the sisters flats she was also seen on syke common where a man tried to catch her.She ran off we think she may be in the wooded area. We will be looking in this area tom.

- Thanks Tigermouse, I do not know the area myself and that is what Doreen said, the Common is well known. Doreen will get some posters done for you and KazW as you are unable to print the word doc ones off. The smaller ones are ideal for handing out etc. Jan x
- 2011-03-24 19:35 Majorjet (Jan) - Area Co-ordinator - Liverpool/Merseyside, North West
- Spoken to Doreen.
Poster was put up in a pub and a man in the pub said he had seen Mia and tried to catch her but she ran off. This was approx 4.00 p.m. on the Common near Spotland Road which run into a vast forest area, family have been in looking in the area. They will be going there again tomorrow with their other dog.
Mia could well be hiding up in the forest, hopefully it is only a matter of time now before we see her back home. Keep up the brilliant work everyone. Jan x
- 2011-03-24 19:18 Tigermouse
- Is the name of the road correct? I've just looked on my A-Z and can't find a Spotland Road in Radcliffe

- Jan, due to a previous glitch on my pc I can't open anything in MS Word, it comes up as lots of circles and squares, so I'll just have to continue using the one as above.
Just a thought re the missing posters along the canal between the res and Radcliffe - could possibly be whoever has Mia is removing them? If they are using that area as a regular dog walk they won't want to risk Mia being recognised by other dog walkers - 2011-03-23 23:06 Majorjet (Jan) - Area Co-ordinator - Liverpool/Merseyside, North West
- KazW, I've updated the various size posters and emailed them to Mia's family, you and Tigermouse. Jan x

- Jan Thank you for the up dated poster will print some off in the morning & then put em up on our late evening walk. All, spoke to runners and dog walkers on our walk tonight. If someone can do the canal between res & radcliffe the posters I put up seemed to be missing this evening but had walked to elton res then round it partly up canal replacing the ones on it, if not I will do it on my next day off next thursday it time for weekend. Good hunting!

- I saw that and when I told my husband he said exactly the same thing Tigermouse! Not such a far fetched idea these days sadly :-(
- 2011-03-20 12:36 Tigermouse
- I saw yours earlier Carla. Makes me wonder if the two are connected somehow - a dog and a bitch?? Illicit breeding, maybe for drug money?? Sounds a bit far-fetched and I don't want to seem like I'm scaremongering, but anything's possible these days

- JUST TO LET YOU KNOW THE POLICE ARE STILL DOING A GOOD JOB OF LOOKING FOR HER AS THEY PAID ME A VISIT TO CHECK MY DOGS OUT, THAT NONE OF THEM WAS HER. BUT NOW ARE IN THE SAME SITUATION AS YOU AS SUMONE HAS GOT OUR MALE DOGUE DE BORDEAUX, HE WENT MISSING ON THE 18TH AND THERE ARE NO SIGHTINGS OF HIM AT ALL (WHICH IS HARD TO BELEIVE WITH SUCH A BIG DOG) BUT GOOD LUCK WITH THE SEARCH .

- Oh well just a thought. With it being a community radio it may have done a feel good story have you tried both angles with real radio or key 103 or blackburns radio or the other Bolton station not sure what its called but my car picks it up nearer to west houghton Than bury! May be if one picks it up so will others or even the tv on the community angle look north west etc mad thought that it is sometimes its the way we package it that appeals better?!?!
- 2011-03-18 09:04 Joe
- We do live in a great area and we have been amazed at all the support we have had from people - so a big thank you. We have tried to contact Tower FM but had no success am afraid. Mia been gone now for just over four weeks...
- 2011-03-17 21:04 Kaz
- Had a weird idea what do you think!! Ask tower Fm not to run a news like appeal but a story on community spirit how people unite to help a stranger look for thier missing pet, put up posters at the searchers cost etc vets, shops, kennels etc put them up free of charge. What a great community bury and Bolton and surrounding areas that we live in!!

- What about getting a loud hailer and standing in a busy place and let everyone know that Mia is missing. Hand out misssing posters at the same time get friends and family to help. It might just jog somebodys mind and it might also get media attention if the media find out what
you are doing to get Mia home. - 2011-03-14 10:20 Joe
- Hi everyone and thanks again for your support...We have tried all kennals in the surrounding areas, councils and dog wardens.. We continue to place her on facebook, twitter. She is in chorley Guardian this Thursday, we have made appeals to Tower FM, she is on Gumtree, lancashire on the first page, on google on preloved, viva was in Bolton evening News on 03.03.11. - I just remembered, a dog next door went missing but popped over the border to bury which is VERY close and was taken to manchester dog's home. They now take to LEIGH DOGS !!!(NOT IDEAL) As they aren't exactly truthful when you ring.
Dogs getting lost in edgworth is a nightmare. The postering is good by the way.
- 2011-03-13 09:45 Tigermouse
- Just phoned Aspen Valley kennels and Mia hasn't been taken there, so I've given them the details and asked them to make contact here if they do get any news of her. Seems that not all dogs picked up by DWs in Edgworth go there, some will also be taken to Bolton.
- 2011-03-13 00:33 Tigermouse
- You may have a point there. I've always thought of Edgworth as being part of Bolton as it has a Bolton postcode, but technically it's part of Turton and as such will probably come under the jurisdiction of Darwen and Blackburn Council. Thanks for posting that, it will certainly be worth someone contacting the kennels you mention.
- 2011-03-12 11:49 border collie:
- I live on a farm in edgworth. I will keep a look out. Did you know our dogs in this area are taken miles away and not to bolton?
"If your dog has been seized by the Council's dog warden it will have been taken immediately to Aspen Valley Kennels, Lower Aspen Lane, Oswaldtwistle, Tel. 01254 233702 from where you will need to collect it within 7 days from the date it was seized by the dog warden. - Just a thought - parking on Embankment Road at the Chapeltown end of Green Arms road will get you close to Wayoh res, and there's a car park at the bottom end of Batridge Road, further up Green Arms Road, which serves Entwistle res.
- 2011-03-10 10:03 Tigermouse
- If she was seen on Green Arms road heading away from Chapeltown village then she could be somewhere round Entwistle res or Wayoh res, those two are near enough linked with a road and rail line separating them. Or there's possibly the wooded area at the top end of the Entwistle one. Jumbles res is further down towards Bromley Cross and isn't linked to the other two. If you look on Google Earth Entwistle res is the one on the left, Wayoh to the right of the rail line, and Jumbles further to the right of that.Last edited: 2011-03-10 10:17:44 by Tigermouse

- Been around Rivington today, the poster is still up at the Barn, but I will try and put some more up as this was the only one I saw and you had to be going into the Barn to see it. Unfortunately we didn't get to go near the primary school as someone had hung themselves and the whole area was cordoned off.

Also there's a heavily wooded area off the top of Green Arms road (Blackburn Road end) which leads down to Wayoh Reservoir - may be worth a look?

- Just got back - walked all round the outskirts of the golf club and looked round areas of woodland round Turton Tower, also left a poster at the golf club shop/bar and asked all golfers I saw playing, unfortunately no sign as yet.
- 2011-03-07 15:03 Tigermouse
- Was going to look round Jumbles myself but will now concentrate on Turton golf club and surrounds, as their land stretches towards Chapeltown.

- Hi just got back from Jumbles. unfortunately no luck. I have however spoken to every person i saw saying about the possible sighting in this area. I have also put a poster up in the smaller carpark next to the other poster with the updated info. I went into the visitors centre and told them in there..she said she will spread the word.
apart from that i have handed a poster into queens park vets, who said they will put it up.

- I have mentioned on FB that I am going walking up there today, so will keep my eyes and ears open. I'll take a spare lead and some stinky black pudding treats...if she's hunry she may come near me. I shall also take the contact details. you never know we might be lucky.

- Goldiemad, Mia was sighted Friday 04.03.11 running down Green Arms Road, which runs from Blackburn Road to Chapletown. She was seen running up it away from Chapletown. Since being registered on DL and going in the papers owners have been getting lots of helpful calls. There have been other Bordeaux's in the area that people have alerted them to and they have checked them out. It takes just that one call. Jan x

- Is it now thought that she isn't in the Rivington area? I walk in Lever Park daily near reservoirs so will keep my eyes open. Last week (thursday) I did see someone with two Dogues which surprised me as I have never seen them before.

- Thanks Tigermouse, there is no mobile number in your registration, if you email me your mobi number I will be able to text you with any updates, especially if there is any sightings. If you do see her please contact her owners as she will be very frightened. They have been going the area and also taking their other Bordeaux. Jan x

- Blimey, I wish I'd seen this earlier. The Jumbles reservoir is only a few minutes drive from me and I often walk my own dogs round there - I've been out most of the day but if I'd known I could have gone round there. If no more news before 2.30pm tomorrow I'll go scout round - also one of my pet sitting clients lives up there so I'll ask her to keep a look out

- I have just been for a drive around the area MIA was sighted - we didn't see anything - it is very rural - just moors and not much else - showed the poster to a few dog walkers we saw so a few more on the look out x

- Thanks louihw the postman is always a good one to let know.
Mia could well be hiding up and only come out when it is quieter, made owner aware that she may not recognise them at first and what they should do if they or anyone who knows her sees her. REUNITED Daisy Great Dane ID 28267 was missing for 4 days in openfields with very few sightings there was lots of people out searching the area; you would expect to see a Great Dane on the run. Jan x - 2011-03-06 17:06 louihw
- wonder if the postman in that area might be able to help - looks like country roads and lots of fields so maybe she is hiding out in an outbuilding???

- More detailed info of the SIGHTING from her owner:
Mia was sighted Friday 04.03.11 running down Green Arms Road, which runs from Blackburn Road to Chapletown. She was seen running up it away from Chapletown. The man who rang this in was positive it was the same dog, she did not make it to blackburn road as she ran across the railway bridge so she would have been between the two resovoirs.

- Thanks Tigermouse you are a star. Mia had coverage this week in the Bolton Evening News, a photo was also included. I've tried to find it online but cannot see it.
There is good news there have been SIGHTINGS of a dog fitting Mia's description in the Chapletown area, near the Jumbles Reservoir. She was spotted running very scared. If she is holding up in this area and keeps off the main road she will be safe. Posters have been getting put up in this area.
Family and friends have been working tirelessly postering and spreading the word. They have been getting calls of other Bordeaux which have been followed up and have not been Mia. All calls are being looked into.
Lots have been going on behind the scenes.
THANK YOU to everyone who has made direct contact with family and also to those who have sent messages via Facebook and to myself, all greatly appreciated.
Have spoken at length this morning with family and given advice on what to do and how to react if they see Mia. They will be taking their other dog with them to search and will try the BBQ. SCENTING Instructions have been emailed, which also includes how to react if she is seen.
These last sightings sound very promising and looks like she has been made TOO HOT TO HANDLE. Keeping everything tightly crossed we see her in the BLUE soon. Good luck to her family. Jan x

- Taken posters to two local vets just down the road from me, and while it's not their policy to display things on the walls they will keep the details to hand. Nothing in the local paper yet, when's it supposed to be in?

- Thanks everyone for your help in the search for Mia. Spoken to owners tonight and they are doing a great job getting her in the papers, she is in the Bolton Evening News and also the LOOT. They have heard there has been other dogs gone missing in the area.
Thanks jdh-187 you are doing a grand job. I've not emailed details out myself yet but will do a.s.a.p. Most of the ones you have emailed to are included in the list but great you have sent them, some are members on FB and were alerted last night. There are lots on FB who are also spreading the word, which is fab and messages have been coming in.
Various size posters have now been emailed to family, if anyone is able to help with the postering please let us know and they can be emailed to you. Thanks. Jan x

- I was talking to my mum's next door neighbour today (also in the BL1 area) and she said if Mia has been missing for two weeks she'll be in Liverpool by now. Not sure if this was just a casual comment or if there would be some significance?
