- Poor little mite, at least she's back with her mum now. God knows what these people have been doing with her, I'd love to get my hands on them, I'm so cross that I was at work and couldn't go with Martina, I'd have loved a chance to give them what for! Police are being as useless as every! Surprise Surprise! x

- I have been thinking of this little dog and am so relieved for her return. What a brave owner to fight off that evil woman. I pray these people are caught. Little Atka is getting lots of love and she will get better. Lots and lots of healing vibes coming her way xx

- Martina, thanks for updating us on poor little Atka.
She will get better with lots of TLC which you are giving her it takes time. I lost my Goldie years ago and found him after 4 days, he was traumatised and kept fighting his sleep, he was shattered but seemed like he was frighted to go to sleep. It took time but he did get better. Sending lots of healing thoughts for your gorgeous Atka, she is back with her mum now and that is the best news ever. Give her a hug from everyone on DL. - Hi, this is Martina. Lolponies, I am very sorry but I lost my mobil on that day when Atka was found, so I am going to get new one on Monday and hopefuly the same number. Please, sent me your email address, I will definitly go for this meeting. Atka is in very bad shape. She is not blind, she just could not open her eyes becouse I think they kept her in some small dark place. She is walking very slowly, does not have energy, she hardly recognised me, she was so desoriented. Even they washed her, she is still dirty, and she is wounded, one her legs and aroun her eye. I do not even want to thing about what was going on with her. And this people are living here. It seems like mother with 16 years old guy, who actually stole her, and she was acompanied with a youn girl around her twenties. Family. Thank you everybody for your help, care, attention and that you are willing to do something about that, becouse I do not have anything in my hand agains them and they need to be catched. Right now I am with Atka trying to bring her back to be the same dog and I know, she will not be and I would just kill myself that I was not enought careful with her. Thank you all and as soon as I will get response from the police I will get in touch with you xxx

- Top marks to Martina, awesome. That said neither of them should ever have been put in this position. Surely this and the attempted theft mentioned here are newsworthy! Good luck to you both xxx

- Just a thought, how great would it be if there was billboards around high lightening dog theft, or if you purchase a new pup/ dog to go get it scanned asap incase you bought a stolen dog.
We need people to know all this info !! - 2011-04-08 22:07 ellejay
- Oh my, firstly thank god she is home, I always worried for her.
Secondly, well done owner, you never gave up.
Thirdly, what on earth have these vile scum do to make her completly blind ???
When my yorkie pup was sold on through the free ads. They demanded 400 pound for him, as we had to pose as buyers...
I am so scared to walk my dog now, far to much dog theft, and they just have the balls to come up and snatch from your hands as well...
The police really need to clamp down on this, but how ???
I really hope tv coverage can help, I know magda who's biscuit was stolen is having a show on channel 4 about how he was stolen, we need as many people watching these programmes and getting word out about dog theft.
Anyways, give atka big cuddles and loads of tlc.., poor baby what she had been through , and get this evil woman caught !!! - 2011-04-08 21:26 cavvie lover

- GREAT NEWS ATKA IS HOME!!!!! I dont know the full details yet as yet but all I know so far was Martina received a call from a woman saying she had her dog and to meet her at Knee Hill where she demanded £300 pounds which Martina didnt have and they ended up having a FIST FIGHT in order forher to get her dog back!!! Martina gave chase when the woma fled but it was hard to keep up and Martina didnt want to make Atka run in the hot weather. Atka is now completely blind and very over weight, Martina feels that they have been keeping her inside in order to keep her out of sight. The police were called but didnt turn up in time! Please help us now to catch these arse holes, we really need to get on the polices backs to do more to stop this in our area, Doglost please help advise us on what we should do! xxx

- There have been 10 dogs stolen in the Abbey Wood area in the last 2 weeks. All dog owners must have their wits about them at the moment. Atka's owners and me are gathering phone numbers from the missing posters and are going to call a meeting with all of them and the police. Somethimg has GOT to be done. This is seriously out of had now. I saw 2 teenagers in a car with at least 8 staff type dogs in the car this evening in AW, surely they can all be theirs!!! If anyone else would like to be involved please let us know. These theives have got to be stopped! x

- I am sorry to hear you have not had your girl back and you are quite right, it is a REAL problem lately. I had two lads attempt to snatch my dog out of my hand right down the road from there, luckily they did not manage to get hold of her but a few days later I hear about you and then the shiztu and now another dog, an AM Bull from last Saturday.
We are on the look out everyday for these dogs but surely there has to be more we can do about this situation. - 2011-03-17 03:49 lolponies
- Thanks Ellejay, I agree, I am so fearfull for my girls at the moment, seems we have a terrible spate of dogs going missing round here in the last couple of years. I have a feeling theyre conected somehow as it just seems to much of a coincidence for them all to be taken by random people. I think this boy is taking them and either waiting for reward posters to go up or just selling them on. I think the owner would have had a call by now claiming the reward except the shop owner saw him a couple of days later and confronted him saying 'I know you took that ladies dog, give it back to her' he said he didnt know what she was talking about and ran from the shop, no one has seen him since. I fear now he has been frightened into either hiding Atka or selling her on, he must know people are on to him! Poor little Atka must be wondering WTF is going on! I cant understand it, she's and elderly dog with health proplems, who would buy her, this kid must be hiding her!

- jerabina, sorry to see Atka is still missing. I've cropped her photo/s to bring her closer and updated the details to show up on her DogLost poster. Posters and getting her in the papers are the key to spreading the word. Keeping everything crossed you find her soon. Good luck. Jan x

- So more dogs have gone missing from round there eh, what is going on !!!
Shame you cant put posters up WARNING people there are dog thieves around and to on their guard.
I can poster Bromley and Catford areas, a little far out, but you never know how far dogs can travel.
Poor little girl, must be so scared.. total scum who steal peoples pets. - 2011-03-14 16:58 lolponies
- That's brilliant, thanks Heidi, that's what the owner and me were saying last nite, esp longhaired ones and if someone has bought her from this kid then they must be wondering about the scar on her tum and might just see a poster. Thanks again. L x

- I will poster in Chislehurst and keep a look out. You don't see a Daxi every day of the week, so should be noticed quite easily. Good luck.

- Just spoken to the owner, dog has been reported to the police, battersea and the Greenwich dog warden. A witness saw who took the dog, it was a white male, around 16 years old, funnily enough from what she says he fits the description of the boy I met at Abbey wood station that returned my neighbours dog, Sam back last year. Funny that eh???
- 2011-03-12 13:50 lolponies
- Hi guys does anyone know if this dog has been reported to the police or if the owner asked the shopkeeper if they have CCTV outside the shop? This is very near to where the yorkie and chichuahua Cavvielover mentions in her post was stolen from. I have had a walk around the area with my dogs this morning but only saw 3 posters and they don't say where the dog was taken from, a time or anything. This owner really needs some better posters made up and get them out there. When my Daisy was missing I postered a little further each day and it payed off as she had been sold to a man in Mottingham who had brought from a guy in Woolwich. He saw one of my posters as he got off a train at Plumsead. THE POSTERS WORK!!!

- So sorry to see that this beautiful girl is stolen.
It is a dangerous game nowdays tying your dog up outside shops, it's not like the old days of when you could fo that, and I bet no body more than yourself feels sick at the thought of it now.
Please check all free ad websites, like gumtree, pets4home, preloved etc.. Incase some one has her and is trying to sell her on, or have found her.
There is a mass email going around from south London police at the moment, about small dogs and cats, whether it's a hoax or not I do not know, but make sure you inform your police as it's a crime that's been committed, they may not help, but worth a go.
Good luck and hope she is home soon x - 2011-03-10 16:38 martintheveg
