The contact details have now been changed to mine, as Margaret who put him on site has had several calls about a completely different blue greyhound which has been running round in the middle of Warsop. We will find out a bit more about that hopefully tomorrow, and if this is a stray rather than an occasional escaper I will do a page for him/her. I am surprised by the sudden influx of blue hounds in this relatively small place as they aren't all that common. If anyone knows anything about blue greyhound Mark II please let me know.

Hound settled very quickly and relaxed when he realised he was safe with us. He is a full greyhound aged about 18 months.

Phebe is on her way to collect him then I am heading out to meet her to guide him into the kennels. Seems somebody is NOT happy and wasnt quite ready to come in yet so I appear to have been nominated as the person to get an extremely annoyed lurcher out of a dog trap! Lol! I get all the glamourous bits me! Looking forward to welcoming this lad into the Gap fold *I think* That will be two trapped lurchers we have in the kennels in as many weeks! Rogue the A38 boy has only just started to forgive me we will end up with a kennel full of dogs we can not take our eyes off for a second! Well done to Margaret and Richard for sticking without x

Yeah !!! wonderful news .......... well done Phebe and Margaret and thank goodness for cooked chicken, sardines and our 'lucky trap' !
DogLostOwl
We have trapped him! Off to collect him now. He is not very pleased.

I have seen this hound this morning, got a good look through binos and he is definitely a male and could be lurcher rather than greyhound, so have updated above.

Good luck everyone. I really hope you are able to trap this greyhound very quickly. Only wish I was nearer & could help. x

A local Greyhound Gap member has been in touch with farmer and restaurant owner today. They are both being co-operative, and we appreciate this very much and will work with them to trap and remove this hound asap.

Phebe can you give me a ring asap on my mobile 07917422489 or somebody get in touch with her and ask me to ring! It appears that not only is the farmer thrutchy now BUT the restaurant owner aswell. One of our adopters has had the dog coming for food at a certain time the last few days and the dog is lying waiting for the food but moves away whilst its laid. I think we need to get a live trap over there ASAP, the dog is hungry and is now resorting to digging up carrots and I think will go into a trap straight away BUT it needs to be done now as opposed to later. The carrot field is due to be harvested in the next couple of days!

Thanks for your info and kind offer of a rescue place, Lisa. I have posted on your forum. I agree completely with your recommendations.

Just to say that if the dog can be caught in a live trap Gap are happy to take it.

Phebe I have been called out to this dog and went to see the area. Its a massive area and I have been trying to get hold of the man today who is going out and trying to feed this dog to ask him to speak to the restaurant. The dog is coming up to the restaurant it seems daily and I think they need to see if they would be willing to start a feeding pattern. Seeing the area I think a live trap is the only option. Other than that you are going to be screwed the dog is staying specifically on the farmers land and I am afraid he wants people constantly traipsing it less than he wants the dog there! I cant blame him as its all arrable land that has just been seeded. The farmers field alone is around 1/4 mile long and when you see the dog its mostly literally a dot on the horizon! The field literally borders Sherwood Forest and the dog can hide for miles again in my opinion this is one of the worst potential areas I have ever seen a dog lose in if it does not want to come in, at night the area is also dense and pitch black you wont be able to see the end of your finger. Hence why I feel feeding and moving towards the pub carpark is going to be the best bit.

Hope that helps. I have said if the dog can be regularly fed from the restaurant I am willing to come over again with Tzar but sadly its a four hour round trip so to much to undertake regularly! I have been told by the farmer where the dog suns itself during the day but again he says as soon as he is in the vacinity it moves on. Its apparently been there four weeks and the area is walked heavily by dog walkers so have little hope it will come into its own kind or other dogs easily. He described it as wild and scared.

If there is anyone local who owns a greyhound (or two)and could walk in the area, these dogs are very responsive to their own kind and perhaps the stray one would follow into a garden, or even a tennis court? Do hope there is good news soon.

I have told Jumanji that I will help with this, but if there is anyone else in Warsop area who can assist then we can share responsibility.

Thanks doglover1 ........ have moved this thread over to Central region. Have spoken with the lady who has listed this dog and discussed the possiblity of using a trap. This dog has been seen by many people wandering in the area but so far no one has been able to catch him/her. The dog does seem to be sticking to certain areas but unfortunately some of this is on farmland and the farmer is eager for the dog to be caught quite soon ! If we can find someone local to the area who is able to take responsibility for a trap we could get one down there in the next few days.PamLast edited: 2011-03-16 12:48:21 by Jumanji - Co-ordinator.South.Yorkshire
