- Hello, Glad to hear that he is returned safe and sound. My mother in law was one of the people who came to help you. She broke the ball launcher trying to get the dog off yours! We had no idea that your other dog had got lost if we had known we would have searched for him on our walk. If my partner and I weren't holding the our dogs we had with us we would have come to help too. We are so sorry that you and your dogs had such a horrendous thing happen to you. It was a very frightening sight. My mother in law was just telling us about the same dogs that had attacked her friends choc lab over the weekend. We couldn't believe it that we saw those very same dogs attacking yours within minutes of her telling us about it!!
I hope this doesn't stop you from enjoying the lovely park. Don't let horrible people that can't socialise and train their dogs properly deter you from enjoying the victoria country park. I hope that man gets a ban from keeping animals for life.
I hope that you are all ok give the dogs a pat from us. You should contact the echo and tell them your story! This man needs to learn his lesson. He should pay for all the damages vet bills and for any psychological damage this may have caused for the pup. I should imagine you are all very shaken up - we sure all were. I couldn't even bring myself to let my two dogs off their leads fearing that brute was still about.
Sending our best wishes and hope your dogs have a speedy recovery!
Regards

email from owner
Hi Jane,
Thanks for the email.
I went back to country park this morning, with my other collie Charlie. We did the usual walk and I took Hamish's favourite squeeky ball. And shouted his name... the park is massive.
I can't believe how lucky I am as I HAVE FOUND HIM!!!!!
I was near the end of the walk, when I stopped dead in my tracks to look behind me, there he was, cold, wet and filthy, no injuries thank god, and still wearing his basket muzzle.
I have rung the Park Rangers Office and contacting the Police today as the rotweillers / pitbulls in question have attacked other dogs and the owner needs to be dealt with.
I thought they were going to attack me last night, as they had my other collie pinned down by the throat and people were beating it with sticks but it would not let go.
I love all dogs, but rotweillers in the wrong hands are not safe to be around, they have instictive pack mentality and enjoy the hunt often to the kill. It's only a matter of time before a child gets injured. These dogs have attacked in the park before and it's gone unreported. Even worse when the police let the owner drive off, he gave me the finger. He didn't even say sorry.
Your website is really good, I will make sure other dog walkers know about it.
Kind Regards, - 2011-03-29 10:49 colliee
