Sent a thank you email earlier tonight to one of our DL helpers who helps with the dogs that are not rehomed in the kennels and has also put some found on DL, have also sent a thank you Aspen Valley.

Heres to seeing more dogs being reunited with help from everyone cross checking sites. Keep up the brilliant work. Cheers. Jan x
Deb4gsd
Brilliant news to hear Honey is home, so glad it was her at Aspen Valley. The first place I come to is DL site, then onto the Aspen Valley site as I know they update regularly and quickly with new arrivals. The photos are brilliant as descriptions are just not enough to try to check/match with lost dogs! As has been said, if only more rescue centres put photos of new arrivals up on a website, would be such a big help!
So pleased for Honey's owners and big hugs to Honey! xx

Fantastic news!! Well done to everyone involved. I love happy endings!

Awesome news, so glad that Honey is home :-)
I agree, Aspen's system is fabulous, and if more pounds would be willing to work with us on this that would be wonderful. I for one am up for helping if anything comes about, so please count me in. Welcome home hugs to Honey.xxx

Was so pleased to get the alert from another very happy owner that a NW was HOME.

Great to be able to move Honey into the BLUE and will upload REUNITED photo a.s.a.p. her dad sent a few with the email but as only just got home from work have not yet opened the photo/s up.

THANK YOU to everyone who helped in the search and a special thanks to mumstaxi for the alert and Owl for registering her on DL.

Welcome HOME Honey and into the BLUE you go, lots of hugs and cuddles from everyone on DL.

The photo/s of the found dogs taken into Aspen Valley are taken as the dogs arrive and it is great they are put online quickly. I do check for matching but great that others are also checking, as said in one of my previous posts it is not the first time a helper has matched a dog in Aspen Valley within days of them being registered on DL. Thanks to you all. WELL DONE and THANK YOU to the staff who take the photo/s. If other kennels could do this it would help greatly in seeing more dogs reunited back with their family. Jan x

Email from her owner received earlier this afternoon:

It is good news my old girl is back! She has had a bath and some pampering and has told me how grateful she is to all of you for helping. I have taken a couple of pics to post on the reunited section but i can't work out how to do it? is it okto attach them to this e-mail and let you or somebody with IT skills to post them for me? Thankyou again for all the help. (Hopefully the only tears now from my 7 yr old son will be tears of joy!)

SO PLEASED THAT THIS WAS HONEY
Brilliant News and well spotted mumstaxi, witchypoos and debs4gsd - It is great that you are all checking the pounds and as you say with cooperation from the kennels we could help more dogs get home, I will have a chat with Majorjet and see if an approach can be made to the kennels for volunteers to go in, it took a long time for my local kennels to agree but they are very happy with the outcome, for them more dogs being claimed, higher rehoming rates from the kennels and therefore a lower PTS rate. A number of kennels will not allow public in due to ongoing abuse from owners who object to the fees charged by the councils, I always make people aware of the likely cost when called about any of my listings and as long are you are happy to field these calls then it may be worth Majorjet making the approach to the kennels in the first instance. I really hope that Honey is on her way home.
Witchy-poos, I'm totally with you. I've only been on DL for a few weeks and there is definitely a break down in the communication. I'm absolutely amazed at the lack of info that comes from dog wardens. Here in Manchester they don't even log when they have found a dog so if you ring up they just direct you to the dogs home - no help.

There must be something we can do. I have noticed Angus - one of the area co-ordinators goes into his local kennels and takes photos once a week and lists them on here. Might be an idea for us all to do.

Chips do sometimes migrate, and very occasionally can't be found at all. There was a cairn on here recently who was picked up and handed in, he certainly had a chip but it didn't register. So although most dogs are easily scanned and ID'd through chip, the method is not 100% guaranteed. One of my dogs has had her chip in place for 15 years and it hasn't moved. The other had no chip showing up on scan when I adopted her. I had her chipped, and a year later I removed what I thought was a thorn from her ear tip. It was a previous chip! Keeping fingers crossed the dog in Aspen is Honey.
Witchy-poos
It truly would be great if more/all pounds published detail of found dogs like Aspen do, so many more dogs would be reuninted - or reunited faster. It only takes one of us 20 mins or so daily to check the site against here so between us we could do them all! I don't know how we would go about trying to set something up, but I wish we could. So many of the dogs that come into Aspen are clearly loved pets but many never get reunited & it breaks my heart :-(
Re: The chip, it doesn't state on Aspen's page that's she's chipped, which they usually do if they find a chip & they will put owner's details not up to date or can't contact owner - if they had have found the chip they would also have had her correct age. They do publish as much info as possible to help reunite dogs usually.
Honey's family, I do hope it's her, please let us know.xxx

Fingers crossed next time I log in I see Honey moved over to Reunited

THANKYOU! to everyone posting on this site, I have to say that my wife and I think you are all Angels in disguise!
The Kennels have told me to ring back after 10 this morning then i can go over and verify that it is Honey, I am 99.9% sure from the photo.
As soon as I've done this and got her back I will have a go at posting a picture in the dogs reunited section.
Thankyou all again K9-ANGELS x

Thanks Withcy-poos and Deb4gsd for posting on Honey's page.

Re the chip owner is not sure if the chip details are updated to his details as she is a rescue. Have advised that if they are not in his details to get them upated a.s.a.p.

Great you are all checking the sites for matches, Aspen Valley found dogs is a site I also regularly check. We have had a few matched on there by helpers cross checking which is great. Would be great if all kennels put details of found dogs on sites. Jan x

Deb4gsd
same here! I had just been checking the photos on the Aspen website, as I also do every day, and then noticed Honey and thought 'what a match!' I so hope it is her, but cannot understand why the chip and tattoo hasn't been checked back to owner!
Witchy-poos
I'm so glad someone has put you on to the girl in Aspen, I normally check on here with Aspen's latest arrivals every day but haven't managed to the last couple of days (I just came on & noticed your match & was going to contact you - thanks mumstaxi!). It does look like your girl, any update? They are great at looking after the dogs at this kennels, but don't always check for/find microchips.

Emailed blown up photo/s of the found and Honey to owner and this is his reply:

Thankyou for the blown up pics, I am 99.9% sure that that is Honey. I will follow your advice when picking her up and send on a reunited picture of us ASAP. Many Thanks for all your help.....

Keeping everything crossed. Jan x

Yes mumstaxi when I seen she was chipped that was the first thing I said to her owner, he is not sure if the chip details are updated to his details as she is a rescue. Honey also had a collar on with a contact number on but this may of come off. Owner said she is very fit for a 15 year old and does not look her age, she runs with him when he cycles. Jan x
DogLostAngus
fingers crossed x
mumstaxi
hi again jan kennels have this dog as 7? if its honey at 15 shes a pretty fit dog for her age xx
mumstaxi
hi Jan just wondering why kennels havent contacted owner as dog chipped etc, really do hope its honey
DogLostMajorjet (Jan) - Area Co-ordinator - Liverpool/Merseyside, North West
Owner was checking the site as I rang, he is certain it is Honey and is so pleased as family have been worried. Honey went missing while on a walk on the Moors. I've given him the contact details for Aspen Valley and will email the link to an online form they have. Owner will be ringing them first thing in the morning.

Thanks again and well done mumstaxi for the alert. Look forward to seeing Honey go into the BLUE a.s.a.p. Jan x
