- I really cannot thank you all enough!!! Total relief he is back safe and sound. We had several sightings of him phoned through to us from about 7pm onwards last night as people were heading down from the hills. It was the posters that really did the trick, we'd flooded the place and also placed them in my Dad's car windows.
He's such a faithful dog to us and has a really strong bond which is fantastic to learn as he is only a few months out of rescue kennels. He obviously trusts us! We had numerous calls from kind people who were within feet of him but he wouldn't go to them. It was pure luck my Dad spotted Fly's head peering through a gate in the pitch black and within an hour he was curled up safe and sound on his bed!
It really has shown us the good in people. Every person we spoke to was doing everything they could to help find Fly. Words fail me, thay really do! It was just incredible, total strangers doing their utmost to help!
Thank you to Pheobe who was on the other end of her phone when I needed her last night, I couldn't access the internet to let everyone know Fly had been found. She kindly let everyone know. The advice and support I have received from "Doglost" has been just fantastic and I thank you all for what you have done.
It is just complete relief to have Fly home again! I will always keep an eye on this site and if I can offer my advice or help to others who sadly lose their dog then I will.
It has been an experience!!!
Luckily with a happy ending!
Thank you again!

- Thanks to all the publicity several sightings were phoned in during the day. Although no one could get near Fly, this did give some indications of where he was headed, which was all the way back to Stair where the car was originally parked. And then late this evening, Lyndsey's dad was driving around near Stair when he spotted a familiar head poking through a gate. Lyndsey called me with the good news and said that her dad was taking Fly to get a fish supper. I'm sure they were both in need of one by that time.

- Thanks Owl and for the text alert greatly appreciated. I am struggling with laptop issues, taking forever to do anything and have practically ground to a halt.
Lyndsey did reply to my email sent early this morning, some of the places advised to contact in the emails were:
Animal Concern in Cumbria, Glaneils Kennels at Burton in Kendal, they are the pound for South Lakeland and to Wolfwood at Lancaster, they are the pound for Lancaster area, just in case he turns up out of area Newspapers for the area are: Westmorland Gazette and The Cumberland News, both of which seem to have editions covering the whole of Cumbria. Carlisle News and Star. Cumberland and Westmorland Herald. North West Evening Mail(Cumbria Edition) Perhaps it would also be worthwhile contacting BBC Radio Cumbria or Lakeland Radio. BBC Radio Lancashire have a lost pets section every afternoon.
Great that Fly has got ID on his collar.
If anyone knows of other places to try please post on here. Thanks. Jan x

- I have just phoned Lyndsey. She lives in Scotland and Fly was staying with her father while she was on hols. Father and brother are out searching and postering and Lyndsey is doing all net-related things for Fly today as father has no internet. Most relevant people have been notified and I suggested a few more. Local radio, mountain rescue, vets, campsites, B&Bs and tourist offices, the word is getting round.
