any word on wee Jasper?
Julie B
Oh I am so sorry Anthea. You must be devastated .... I know I am upset. I dont know - would a vet just pts a healthy dog like Jasper if he was taken in there ? Is it possible that you could watch the house for a while to see if Jasper comes out or maybe speak with the neighbour to see if they have seen Jasper out in the garden ? If they see him in the garden then they could contact you and then the RSPCA could be involved again. Also you could contact the local vets near to you to see if they have had Jasper taken into them. They may not tell you - but if you explain the circumstances then they may help. I thnk when Jasper found you he had managed to escape from these peoples clutches - but like has been said before - why would they go to the trouble of claiming him back if they were just going to get rid of him. I have a feeling that he is still at the house with these people - but when they saw the RSPCA there on the doorstep - they just denied having him there as this was the easy option for them. Please lets not give up on this little boy - he desperately needs our help ! Julie xx

And, how did this person know where to find Jasper... Was it from posters, dw or this site?
lf2000
Cant imagine what you are going through... I hope you get the answers you are looking for... I suppose you just have to try and work on this 'persons' better nature to find out whats going on... Money might help... I dont know... But what does this 'person' gain from getting Jasper back and having pts... I can imagine selling him on maybe but still..... Some people have no conscience :(
mon
please let us know the outcome of little Jasper, I can only hope that he will turn up safe and that nothing horrid has happened to him. He deserves to go back to Anthea
AntheaB
And no - sorry, he hadn't been missing more than a couple of hours before we found him. You know,if I had a 'Zapper' there'd be a few less people in this world!! Will update when I get any news. xxx
AntheaB
TO jackalee, jobadger and Mrs B - thank you all so much. I can't tell you how much lovely it is to see your comments. I didnt get a chance to explain in my answer to JulieB that I've actually put a 'LOST' notice up for Jasper now. I know that might seem strange, but I'm trying to elicit some response from either the 'owner' or whoever (if that's true) he's given Jasper to. I feel as though Jasper was mine for years (strange that) and I'm fighting to get him back. I promise I won't stop until I've got some answers or have Jasper back here! But I have considered that this awful person has had Jasper put to sleep, but trying not to dwell on that. The good thing is I know where this man lives and I can at least put some pressure on him to get some answers. Will keep you all posted. Thank you to everyone. You're fantastic. xxx
AntheaB
Hi Julie - yes, you're right to be concerned. I called the RSPCA to hopefully pay a call on Jasper's owner. Terrible news - the 'owner' told the RSPCA when they turned up today that he'd 'rehomed' Jasper. This is awful for Jasper. I can't understand why this 'owner' bothered to reclaim Jasper in the first place, but now he says Jasper is with someone else and the RSPCA have no authority to find out where he's gone (if he's really gone). I'm at a loss, but feel so responsible for this little man. What should I do? I'm heartbroken. Can't stop thinking that Jasper is in trouble somewhere and I can't help him. I'm working on a few ideas and will keep you posted. Thank you so much for caring. It means a lot. XXX
Julie B
Anthea I am so sorry that Jasper has been claimed. I know that you had fallen for him and he was settled and comfortable with you. If you think it was not in his best interest to go back to his owners - could you not get in touch with the authorities to check it out for you. After what you have said I am concerned and worried for this gorgeous boy. Julie xx
jobadger
I'm absolutely gutted for you Andrea - and for Jasper. How could anyone actually claim him knowing the state he'd been allowed to get into before you picked him up! I should be interested to know whether he'd been straying for any length of time too. xx
CarolynB
So upset for you Andrea. Jasper would have had a wonderful life with you. I'm rather worried about the state he was in when found - had he been lost a long time? I wouldnt like to think of him getting back into that state when he could have such a comfortable life with you x

Thinking of the condition you found him in, was he missing from them for a long time?

I am gutted for you Andrea. I really thought this little one had not got lost but come looking for you :( Are you keeping in contact with them for updates on Jasper? Maybe try and talk to them in a few days? I'm sure someone on here will offer you better advice than I can give. Thinking of you x
mon
Maybe the owners could be talked into handing him over to someone who could care for the little chap - please let us know what happens to him

Hello all - I'm very, very sad to say that Jasper's owner has claimed him. We're heartbroken because he's gone back into something we think totally inappropriate, but I can't say too much about that here. Too upset to say more - will update you later. Anthea
Julie B
He is adorable. I am so pleased that you (AntheaB) found him. He looks as if he has made himself right at home and I really hope that he now has a happy life with you. I am sure he will be showered with lots of love from you - maybe like he has never known before. Julie x
dewilliams42

I am so glad that little Jasper has fallen into your hands. The condition which you have said he is in makes me feel he has been dumped - and if so he sounds like he will have a lovely life with you AntheaB and your other fur babies. Julie xx

dewilliams42
SHEREEN - MYLO ALSO LIKED THE HAIRDRYER AFTER A BATH. PIPPA IS'NT TOO KEEN ON THE ELECTRIC TOOTHBRUSH BUT WILL TOLERATE AN ORDINARY ONE AND THE HAIRDRYER IS A NO GO BUT FOR JRT THEY ARE AND WERE EXSTREMELY LAID BACK!!
Shereen
Thank you AntheaB for taking care of little Jasper, thats so lovely to hear hes safe with you,and for registering him here on Doglost, not so long afgo a friend of mine found a collie here in my village and he also was exahusted,it turnewd out he was absoutely riddled with tapeworm ,all he could do is collapse and sleep...It sounds like hes safe with you!!! and dewilliams42 and AntheaB
you have both made me giggle ,sounds like you are both as soppy as me and alot of people who follow Doglost.."Quote"DO YOU KNOW MYLO WAS SO SOFT THAT HE EVEN LET ME CLEAN HIS TEETH WITH AN ELECTRIC TOOTHBRUSH. "Quote"....LOL!!!!....but lovely!!!!
jobadger
I'm so, so glad that Jasper's fallen on his feet. He looks so relaxed in his bed. Good luck little man and have the long and happy life you deserve. Bless you. xx
dewilliams42
WELL YOU HAVE CHEERED ME UP. GLAD THERE IS SOMEONE ELSE AS SOFT AS ME. DO YOU KNOW MYLO WAS SO SOFT THAT HE EVEN LET ME CLEAN HIS TEETH WITH AN ELECTRIC TOOTHBRUSH. MIND YOU HE WAS DEAF SO PERHAPS DID'NT MIND!! I HOPE YOU GET TO KEEP JASPER-DO POST ON HERE IF YOU DO.
AntheaB
I'm so sorry to hear that and I really understand. It's silly, but I still cry over dogs I had over 15 years ago. Sometimes something happens to spark a memory and I'm off. Sounds as though Mylo had a really tough time, but he was so lucky to have you. It breaks my heart when I see those dogs lost and found here, and on rescue websites. I always say, if I win big on the lottery one day, I'll rescue everything in sight. My kids groan - probably thinking 'there goes my inheritance'! :)Last edited: 2011-05-15 13:58:56 by AntheaB
dewilliams42
THATS SO LOVELY TO READ, MAKES ME FEEL LIKE CRYING TOO. IM GLAD YOU WILL KEEP HIM IF NO ONE CLAIMS HIM AS HE SOUNDS AS IF HE HAS ALREADY SETTLED!! IF I EVER DO GET ANOTHER DOG AND ITS ONLY NOW AFTER 2 YRS I CAN EVEN THINK ABOUT IT BUT STILL GET SO TEARFUL IT WOULD BE A RESCUE DOG AS I FEEL THEY HAVE HAD SUCH A RAW DEAL IN LIFE AND I THINK MYLO WHO WAS SUCH A CUDDLEY DOG WOULD LIKE ME TO GIVE A RESCUE DOG A CHANCE. POOR OLD MYLO WAS DIABETIC, ON INSULIN TWICE A DAY FOR 5 YRS UNTIL HIS KIDNEYS AND LIVER FAILED AND PIPPA AND ME MISS HIM SO MUCH.
AntheaB
Hi all - it's so lovely to see all your comments and support. This little man is definitely a keeper - we adore him already. We already have three other rescues because we're a bit daft like that (can't say no!), and he gets on with all of them. One of the boys (border collie) dropped toys at Jasper's feet to make him welcome - I cried like a baby! Never seen that before, in all my years of rescuing. Now I'm really scared someone is going to claim him.
dewilliams42
THANK YOU JUNE FOR THAT INFO. I SUPPOSE THOUGH THEY SHOULD MEET TO MAKE SURE THEY GET ON. PIPPA IS GOOD WITH OTHER DOGS BUT MISSES HER PAL MYLO.
June
I live in NN3 and have tried to think if I know this little man but don't think so.
dewilliams42 if you are eventually able to rehome him there is a network of people who offer to transport rescue dogs (and cats) around the country. This is one
http://forum.rescuehelpersunite.co.uk/index.php
and lots of breed rescues run their own transport volunteers list.
Good luck to Jasper and well done Anthea.
dewilliams42
THAT IS VERY SAD THAT PEOPLE DID'NT WORRY ABOUT HIM-HE COULD SO EASILY HAVE BEEN KILLED, POOR LAD. HE HAS CERTAINLY LANDED ON HIS PAWS WITH YOU! WHAT WILL YOU DO IF NOBODY CLAIMS HIM AND HOW OLD DO YOU THINK HE IS? I HAVE A 14 YEAR OL TINY JRT AND LOST ONE 2 YRS AGO WHO WAS 13 THROUGH ILLNESS. I WOULD LOVE TO OFFER HIM A HOME BUT I LIVE IN SWANSEA-RATHER A LONG WAY AWAY. HOPEFULLY HE WILL BE REUNITED BUT IT SOUNDS FROM HIS CONDITION HE HAS BEEN LOST A WHILE.
AntheaB
He's gorgeous! Doesn't bark though, although he can give a little growl (only at noises he can't identify). Found him in traffic on a main road - can you believe nobody else stopped? How sad is that?
dewilliams42
GOOD JOB YOU FOUND HIM POOR LITTLE LOVE. HE LOOKS SO COMFORTABLE IN HIS BED. HOPE HE'LL FEEL BETTER SOON-COULD HAVE BEEN WANDERING A WHILE- HOW SCARY FOR HIM.
Unknown
Poor thing - hope he recovers and can be rehomed - seems as though he has been dumped.
